Reviews for Moortown Lodge

Review 1:Welcoming and well maintained house, very clean and comfortable beds. Friendly reception from the owner with plenty of information and help with booking taxis. Excellent breakfast! Would definitely recommend!

Review 2:the staff was excellent jo always got our breakfast on time , excellent breakfast rooms were very clean thank you jo once again and charlotte shame charlotte the cleaner is leaving , as new management is taking it over.

Review 3:odd carpet in the room, duvet was far too hot

Review 4:lovely welcoming staff, went out of their way to give restaurant and walkie tips, excellent breakfast with great choice, nice with the dog, though not allowed in breakfast room

Review 5:Huge bed, delicious breakfast. Joy was particularly helpful, pointing us in the right direction for pubs and restaurants and for the best walks in the Forest.

Review 6:Parking was a bit tight, but at least it was off the road.

Review 7:Comfortable, friendly, close to a dog walk and easy walk into town where there are plenty of places to eat. Decent breakfast.

Review 8:Nothing. Really can't think of anything to complain about.

Review 9:Lovely place. Clean, comfortable, peaceful. Good to have its own parking, close enough to central Ringwood to go out for dinner on foot, but far enough away to be away from the hustle and bustle. Good for access to the New Forest. Good toiletries, hospitality tray, etc. We had the small room, which was still a perfectly adequate size. Breakfasts very nice.

Review 10:The staff, particularly the waitress who served our breakfast was so very helpful and friendly. The cleanliness was excellent and the breakfast very good.

Review 11:Lack of onsite evening facilities so a bit of a walk into town after a five hour drive. However in the end it was a good way to see the town. May have been different in the rain!

Review 12:Very friendly staff and the room was immaculate

Review 13:Price should be half what it is compared to competition. The room smelt of dust. It's not a 4 star (aa) rating. It's not a boutique hotel. Although clean it hasn't been updated since 1990's.

Review 14:breakfast was ok but small.

Review 15:Nothing - we will stay again.

Review 16:Comfortable beds, very clean room, great breakfast, good tea/coffee facilities in the room and most friendly and helpful staff.

Review 17:when busy there is restricted parking, although the sports centre next door could possibly be available for this.

Review 18:The final thoughtful touches for our comfort. It is the only hotel/guest house,we have found to supply tea bag squeezers, as we use at home. The breakfast was consistantly good

Review 19:Room was lovely and everybody was very friendly and caring. Rooms were spotless lovely to come back after a good day out and find coffee and biscuits and not forgetting chocolates.

Review 20:Shower could have been better. Leaving time could be extended to 11am.

Review 21:Very good value for money. The facility of using the Davis LLoyd sports center bar and restaurant was great.

Review 22:I am used to staying at large corporate owned hotels so I really enjoyed the personal touch of an owner looking after me personally making me what I wanted for breakfast.

Review 23:Could not be better, the room and beds were so comfortable, the staff wonderful and the extra touch was appreciated, i.e. cotton wool, flannel and bath robes

Review 24:Shower was a bit on the small side, and would have preferred a power shower. Shower light was not working

Review 25:Very comfortable large bed, being tall this was very acceptable.

Review 26:Joy was very welcoming and friendly. Helpful tips with good map about eating locally, and later tips on onward journey to Southampton. Excellent range of coffee/tea/biscuits and toiletries.

Review 27:Bit expensive for what you get. need to have kingsize beds in all rooms. Floor creaked.

Review 28:Close to the New Forest and Ringwood. Beautiful fittings and appointments in the room and dining area..

Review 29:Excellent place to have as a base, comfortable and a super breakfast. Our third visit and as excellent as ever. Map of places to eat was particularly helpful.

Review 30:Very comfortable and cosy room with excellent facilities, coffee and biscuits were very welcoming, hairdryer very handy, breakfast absolutely lovely, staff very friendly.

Review 31:The shower is poorly designed. When the door is open it is difficult to get to the controls so it's a case of stand in and be brave for the few seconds of cool water. Altering the shower door would solve this problem. Minor but a pet hate of my husband!

Review 32:Friendly welcome, good and easy to find location, near to the town centre, clean, comfortable, lovely breakfast

Review 33:The room -no 6- was outdated, with mismatched furniture with single glaze windows onto a busy road so little sleep was had. The curtains were shabby with streaks of age and staining and the bathroom was poor with one of those showers you need to move around in to get wet and washed with corroded metal hangings and a sink that looked like it was from the war. I found a immensely long black hair on the bed cover that I just don't know how these places can continue to survive charging almost £80 for a bad nights sleep because of the noise and little to no comforts.

Review 34:The single bed was OK and the cleanliness of the room was reasonable apart from a huge long black hair on the duvet cover that I chose to believe got caught up from the floor - it happens.

Review 35:The size of the room was quite small for the price we paid.

Review 36:Well equipped room with everything you need for a comfortable nights stay. Lovely breakfast with a great range of choices.

Review 37:Excellent comfortable room and bed and liked the little touch of including a toothbrush in the room. Also the breakfast room and breakfast was excellent.

Review 38:The car park is very small with limited spaces. When we arrived back from our night out there was No Spaces left. We had to park down the Rd and it was pouring with rain. Not impressed let's it down a bit.

Review 39:We stayed in the room with the 4 poster bed it was sooo lovely. Really clean, comfortable, Romantic and Relaxing.

Review 40:We were in a quiet room at the back of the house. The room had towelling robes, a selection of toiletries, tea coffee biscuits, water and even little chocolates. It is an older house but nice and comfortable and clean.

Review 41:Although the room was lovely I don't think it should be advertised as a family room as the beds are "put me ups". The price shown at booking was not the price we needed to pay as the children are charged extra. Bathroom could be updated a little. Don't consider it a "luxury" hotel.

Review 42:Comfy beds. Nice dark curtains so children slept well. Good selection of tea, coffee etc including bottled water.

Review 43:Very friendly helpful staff who went out of their way to make your stay exceptional. Breakfast included made it very good value for money. Lots of extras included.

Review 44:A really lovely stay which we all thoroughly enjoyed it was in a great location Ringwood is a really lovely town and it was perfect for our visit to the New forest show. The staff were very friendly and everything was well appointed and lovely and clean.

Review 45:We liked the size of the room and the size of the extra King size bed. The breakfast was excellent, from the toast to the full English breakfast including trimmings such as Yogurts, Grapefruit, Figs etc, etc. The friendly staff and Host.

Review 46:Welcomed by a friendly host, this B&B was made special by thoughtful extra touches, like the emergency supplies kit in each room (shower cap, razor, tampon, other bits and bobs), breakfast cooked to order and the very comfortable beds. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was a delightful stay.

Review 47:The duvets were too warm for that time year. The room was maybe a little small. A bit of street noise.

Review 48:Good breakfast. Good space in breakfast room. Hostess extremely friendly.

Review 49:The lodge is on a very busy road but that was the only fault

Review 50:Easy to find, friendly staff, good breakfast, spotlessly clean and extra little touches to make your stay enjoyable.

Review 51:Spacious, spotless and very comfortable accommodation with several personal luxury touches for guests. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful hosts.

Review 52:Parking was not ideal - we were forced to park at the adjoining leisure centre which was OK but not ideal as the car was then out of sight and at risk of theft or vandalism

Review 53:Being an 80+ couple the 4-Poster was difficult to negotiate! Maybe the cups could have been a little larger.

Review 54:There were toiletries, even flannels. Tea making facilities included a tea-pot and a cafetere for ground coffee. Excellent breakfast.

Review 55:Was made to feel very unwelcome when we first arrived & said we were visiting the area to take part in a cycle ride. The host rolled her eyes & said 'oh your not one of them are you' & then went on to insult us by saying we were a bunch of 'adrenaline junkies' spoiling the area! Have to say, my husband & I have never before been insulted when handing over money for a service. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast & when we asked if 7am would be too early it was met with more eye rolling & being told we couldn't possibly have a cooked breakfast before 8am & would have to have cereal. We said that would be ok at the time as was so taken aback by the hostility from the hostess. However, we then saw in their brochure in the room that breakfast is served from 7.30am. When we came down the next morning at 7.15 there was half a jug of milk on the side, a small selection of cereal (weetabix, frosties, rice krispies, alpen) & some bruised pears. Not even a drink of juice! We could hear someone in the kitchen & they did'nt even come out to offer us a tea or coffee or a piece of toast. The hotel is situated on a main road & we could hear the drone of the motorway in the background. If your looking for a peaceful or idyllic location we would not recommend.

Review 56:Room clean & comfortable, but was overshadowed by being made to feel as though we were not welcome.

Review 57:Cramped family room with beds out. £10 per child per night surcharge hidden in small print. Parking area a little tight.

Review 58:Breakfast. David Lloyd club next door.

Review 59:The room was a bit of a squeeze in the "family room". Breakfast was lovely however had to wait over half before being served or even offered our tea/coffee. Just think they could do with more staff in the kitchen.

Review 60:Location

Review 61:Was a little bit of a walk to the centre and when the B&B was full car park wasnt big enough but could park close by free of charge so wasnt a big drama

Review 62:Was a nice quiet B&B ideal for the older person. Great Breakfast room was nice and clean and in good order. The location was quiet.

Review 63:Not welcoming, rough towels, grubby curtains, someone else's clothes in wardrobe. It said in information in room breakfast served from 7.30 but this was not the case it could not be fully served until 8.00 due to everything not being cooked. Not acceptable for business people.

Review 64:Shower

Review 65:Considering it was booked with cyclist for the New Forest Wiggle ride breakfast could have been done earlier to accommodate all the riders. Not located that close to the Town. If raining you'd have to jump in the car1

Review 66:The room was cold when we arrived on a freezing day but it soon warmed up.It would have been nice walking into a warm room.

Review 67:The room an breakfast were perfect. Well catered room good t.v good internet.

Review 68:The bath robes; toiletries and bottles of water, replaced daily; free WiFi; hairdryer; tasty breakfasts with a good variety of choices. Friendly owners.

Review 69:Location was on a main road, and not walking distance to a pub, but staff did provide a great map of locations to eat and drink.

Review 70:Owners were very lovely, very pet friendly and great breakfast.

Review 71:No doubt great for older couples holidaying in the new forest but not one for business travellers or younger visitors. The place had potential but not delivered upon, luxury items in the bathroom but shelves they were on covered in thick dust. Hot water touch and go and aged leaking shower. Creaking floorboards and rooms smelling like stale. I've also found the welcome cold and very measured, at breakfast got walked past by several times before being acknowledged and waited over 10 mins to check out as the owner was chatting to one of the guests about a joint acquaintance.

Review 72:Linen on bed Breakfast was okay

Review 73:Moortown Lodge fronts onto a fairly busy road and our room was on the ground floor next to the road. However, this was not really a problem and we would certainly stay there again and recommend it to our friends.

Review 74:Delightful proprietors, comfortable room and very good breakfast.

Review 75:Nothing to speak of. Bed was a bit hard for me but I like them soft so I'm sure others would find it perfect. It was a very cold day and the room was a little chilly at first but we were able to turn the radiator up so we warmed up quickly - no issues at all and would happily go back.

Review 76:Lots of little touches - cotton buds & dressing gowns in the ensuite bathroom, various teas, proper coffee with a cafetière. Everything clean & professional but friendly & welcoming. Excellent breakfast too! We felt very welcome. Perfect location for us near the brewery we were visiting - highly recommend that as well...

Review 77:Only staying 1 night!

Review 78:Joy was very welcoming and helpful. Helped me and my boyfriend find lovely local food and cycle roots. Breakfast was yummy and rooms were spotless and comfy. Even had dressing gowns!

Review 79:Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at moortown lodge. Run by a very friendly couple, breakfast was absolutely lovely. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Nothing to pick a fault with

Review 80:Last sitting for breakfast on Sunday was 9 am.

Review 81:Provided with information for wi-fi, local cabs, hand drawn map marked with local restaurants. Lovely warm home and welcome. Brilliant in-room facilities with lovely tea and coffee selection and bathroom facilities.

Review 82:Latest service for breakfast at 9 am is a little early on a Sunday. We also had the impression that some of the cooked breakfast had been prepared sometime in advance.

Review 83:We had a delightful welcome including a bag of useful kit for our dog & a helpful map of local restaurants & pubs to eat in. The Inn is full of spoiling touches & clearly immaculately run.

Review 84:Not within walking distance of a local pub, 20/25min walk and taxi ride back. Would have to use car realistically, as no footpaths.

Review 85:Very clean Lovely cooked breakfast each morning, wide variety! Beautiful walks and surrounding areas! Definitely come again and use Moortown Lodge!

Review 86:What is there not to like?! The hosts are welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and well equipped, the breakfast is excellent and the location is ideal for exploring the area. Highly recommended and we would not stay anywhere else when visiting family locally.

Review 87:Bacon for breakfast was not cooked at request but had been cooked previously and kept hot so was a bit hard.

Review 88:Loved the bathrobes - unusual in a B&B

Review 89:The shower door in the room did not stay fully closed

Review 90:Really nice room with comfy bed. Great fresh cooked breakfast. Excellent wifi signal perfect for working away from the office. Was provided with a great little map of the local area showing all the diffrent places to eat, very help full.

Review 91:The view from the window was not very beautiful, but we didn't come for the view!

Review 92:Everything is done to a very high standard. Our room was very well appointed and an excellent breakfast was served.

Review 93:The owners of the B&B were really helpful. The room was warm and inviting, with everything that we needed! The cooked breakfast was the best that I've eaten in a long time. all in all, a brilliant stay!

Review 94:This is a bit out of the way of the New Forest, about 35 mins to Lyndhurst, but if you don't mind driving it is a very nice place to stay.

Review 95:Very nice friendly staff, cosy room, very clean. The towels and sheets were changed every day and the breakfast was good. The tv in the room was small but fine, built in DVD player. Quite a walk into Ringwood town centre and the only pub serving food on a Sunday evening was The Fish Inn, which was the furthest away.

Review 96:Car park a bit tight some thoughtless driver had left a very long vehicle at the front making it difficult for others to park

Review 97:Every thing we needed in good condition small and friendly

Review 98:Bacon at breakfast was pre-cooked and therefore rather dry. Would prefer mugs in the room for tea/coffee rather than cups and saucers. Wouldn't choose a four-poster bed again (too warm)!

Review 99:Great location and a lovely room with good facilities and provisions. Prompt and courteous service. Good recommendations for local restaurants etc. Wi-fi available. Good value for money.

Review 100:"Absolutely not" - these are the take away words from my stay. Now, the b&b is very lovely, well presented, clean, tidy, and with great in room facilities and a lovely breakfast. I mean it is seriously good in that regard. I arrived with my brother as we had a bicycle race the next day. We have expensive bikes that we didn't want to leave in the car. We therefore said to the lady owner "we wondered whether we might be able to bring our bikes inside somewhere or to our room over night?" Now, the answer was , you guessed it, "absolutely not!". As paying guests we would expect a more polite, accommodating answer. Even if the answer is no, it can be conveyed in a far more appropriate way. Maybe she was worried the bikes would be dirty, but she didn't ask (in fact they're spotless road bikes). Maybe she thought it inappropriate to bring bikes indoors. Whatever the reason, it's the way you speak to guests that makes the difference. My brother and I were therefore left with a fairly cold and unaccommodating feeling on our arrival that stuck with us throughout our overnight stay into breakfast in the morning. We were offered the lean-to at the back which was fine in the end, but that wasn't the point. Michelin guide recommended or not, incidents like this detract from what should be a pleasant stay. What a shame. Also, we booked through booking.com, and although I booked a twin room, some glitch in the system meant we ended up with a double. Fine for brothers to make do perhaps, but potentially embarrassing for others, so do check. I would still definitely recommend this place.

Review 101:The Peace and Quiet and breakfast! Good for walking to restaurants and pub. Owners recommendation for a restaurant was spot on exactly what we wanted thankyou

Review 102:We loved the friendly owner. We loved the large comfy bed We loved the cleanliness and the fact the room had everything we needed plus little extras like cotton wool and bath and shower gels. Breakfast was fantastic value for money and all impeccably clean and pristine.

Review 103:The room was spotlessly clean and was pleasantly decorated. As promised all the extras were there, such as toiletries, hair dryer, tea and coffee. Beds were comfy and we awoke to the smell of bacon cooking. Lovely breakfast in the beautiful dining room. Owners welcoming and helpful.

Review 104:In our room you could hear the water tank filling up every time someone used water. In the end we put the fan on to hide the noise.

Review 105:Lovely couple, beautiful room, lovely breakfast.

Review 106:very friendly staff we arrived after the ten o'clock checkin cutoff but kept them informed and it wasnt a problem. well recomended also lovely full english for breakfast.

Review 107:Our room was at the front of the B&B which meant there was a fair amount of noise from the busy road. The first night we slept with window open, and it was a bit of a problem, second night we closed it and could hardly hear traffic at all. There was a posh fan in the room which would be useful in the summer.

Review 108:The room was beautiful. Really lovely and clean and tastefully decorated. Blackout curtains were great, meant we could have a bit if a lay-in!! Breakfast was good, freshly cooked to order. The location was good, a short drive, or leisurely stroll to Ringwood, and the New Forest was not too far.

Review 109:The busy road The leisure centre at the back of the B&B decided to leaf blow their car park at 6am!

Review 110:Breakfast was great Joy & John were very welcoming Really felt relaxed & at home Very clean

Review 111:Good value breakfast freshly cooked. Location perfect for visiting theNew Forest and Bournemouth. Easy to walk into town, can recommend TheFish Inn or local Thai Restuarant for a meal.

Review 112:decor needs a bit of a make over in hall & dining area but really no significant complaints

Review 113:Rooms clean, comfortable with extra convenient touches --coffee,tea, emergency bag with spare toothbrush etc --thoughtful

Review 114:We had a standard double room and the shower cubicle could have been a bit larger. Also the parking area was a very restricted when the hotel is fully booked.

Review 115:Very clean and comfortable room. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of choices. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful

Review 116:Leaving!

Review 117:We were greeted with friendliness and shown our room which was all that we could expect and more. Excellent attention to detail with superb breakfast each morning. Nothing was too much trouble!

Review 118:The breakfast was excellent, you felt like you were eating proper bacon and sausages not process rubbish and a good choice of menu especially if you are vegetarian. Everything was fresh. Room was very comfortable and clean, you couldn't fault a thing about the rooms, a credit to the two lovely ladies who cleaned the rooms. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman and he was very helpful and informative. Plenty of eating places around the area, if you like Italian we would definitely recommend Amarone, lovely atmosphere, food and service. Felt like we were back in Venice. Good base to explore the New Forest and surrounding areas. It is on the main road, however quiet during the evening with no noise through the night, so didn't effect sleep especially as I am a light sleeper. You won't be disappointed.

Review 119:nothing ..anybody who finds fault with this little gem will never be pleased with anything

Review 120:friendly owners ,top class accomodation very clean and handy location for forest and nearby ringwood. lovely breakfast all in all top value for money will stay again
