Reviews for Beech House
Review 1:We absolutely loved Hilary who greeted us on arrival. The breakfast was delicious. Location was perfect for a stroll into town but it is down a steep hill and then back up it again for home but it under £4.00 in a taxi if you don't feel it. We will be returning.
Review 2:Everything! Landlady was fabulous, room was as seen in pictures. Very clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and you could tell it was good quality. Very close to town, once you've had a drink you won't notice the steep hill on way back!
Review 3:All good.
Review 4:Central location and easy to walk around the town. A lovely house, the room was on the small size but comfortable and clean. Hilary was friendly and helpful and a great cook. My omelette at breakfast was fantastic while looking out to the street and beyond.
Review 5:It was the best B and B room I have ever stayed in. The room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable, with a lot of care and attention to detail. The breakfast was also excellent. The host was very friendly and helpful.
Review 6:Warm welcome from proprietors, well appointed clean spacious and comfortable room, wide choice of breakfasts. Availability of drinks & snacks to purchase
Review 7:Overall nothing. It's situated at the top of a hill. But we are both young and didn't find that to be a problem.
Review 8:Quirky rooms and helpful, friendly staff.
Review 9:There were some nice little touches like the complementary carafe of port with kendal mint cake ( a great combination btw ). The owners apart from check in / out and breakfast left us to our own devices but were available at the ring of a bell . Would recomend this accomodation to anyone and everyone ,enjoyable stay .
Review 10:The only downside was the hill to climb back to house. However bus stopped outside the property from town centre so not a problem after all!
Review 11:We loved everything about the accommodation and hosts. Would definitely recommend a stay.
Review 12:Nothing at all !!!
Review 13:Lovely hotel friendly owners very comfortable plenty to choose from for breakfast will definately recommend an d will be returning !!!! ❤️
Review 14:Limited nearby parking but provided with parking permit to put in the car. On a very steep hillside, not suitable for walking to town. Romantic looking bathroom but the shower curtain over the bath just wrapped around the body, not good.
Review 15:Luxurious, value for money. Great hostess. Lots of beautiful extras and a great luxury feel.
Review 16:I could not think of one thing
Review 17:Everything about this hotel. From being welcomed, the rooms were amazing, facilities excellent, local knowledge unbeatable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or stay here again.
Review 18:I liked everything - the room (particularly all the little touches of luxury from a bottle of port to bath salts that were just right in a hot bath after a long day walking), the fantastic breakfasts and most of all the genuine warmth of the owners - worth every penny
Review 19:I can only echo what others have already written about Hilary and her lovely guest house. My sister and I stayed here for two nights on a whirlwind trip of the UK and Beech House was definitely one of the highlights. The room was lovely and comfortable, the breakfast choices were ample and Hilary's a great cook. We loved everything about this place and would absolutely stay here again.
Review 20:1) The hotel is on a steep slope/incline and you need to be quite fit to climb it; take a taxi if you have luggage or shopping/purchases to lug around. 2) The shower was very small - a bigger person would need more elbow room. 3) The pedals of the two modern dustbins did not work.
Review 21:1) Nice décor and clean 2) Cosy and homely feel (a "home away from home") 3) Hosts were friendly, especially Hilary 4) Tips on how to see the sights in double quick time for a really short stay
Review 22:Nothing
Review 23:Everything! They were so trusting too, as they left drinks and snacks on a table to help yourself and a little notepad so you could say what you had taken. Nice touch.
Review 24:Nothing.
Review 25:Lovely couple who run the establishment. They suggested local places of interest and beauty to visit during our stay which turned out to be very worthwhile. Also, probably the most powerful shower I've ever stood under. Truly invigorating!
Review 26:Was very handy to the town, host was very welcoming & gave us great reccommendations for dining that evening & for the journey the next day. Room was beautiful & very comfortable.
Review 27:Wifi was a bit patchy but could still get phone signal.
Review 28:The bed was like a cloud, the service was so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and rapidly served both mornings, the view was beautiful and the bathroom was stunning

Review 30:There is not a single criticism that I would make.
Review 31:Everything that I could've wanted from a guesthouse and more. If I return to Kendal then I will book a room at the Beech House again. The staff were very friendly and helpful, my room was very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the guesthouse and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 32:Kendal traffic system takes a bit figuring out especially in the dark, with 4 bridges and a tortuous one way system that defies logic, best pick up a street map at the B & B
Review 33:Scenery, good food, convenient location, we were catching up with friends and Kendal is usefully between the M6 and the Lakes with good road links. has plenty independent shops, a good Art Gallery and a community Arts Centre with cafe and restaurant, The Brewery Arts Centre, convenient for town centre
Review 34:Nothing it was all exceptional
Review 35:We liked the bonhomie of the host. The room and view were amazing and the ensuite to die for. TV and hospitality tray were excellent as were the clean sheets and towels. Breakfast, a choice of continental, pancakes, porridge, full or light English and pots of tea - wonderful
Review 36:Cant honestly think of anything I didnt like?
Review 37:This was my first visit to beech house, blown away by the quality and welcome. Breakfast was lovely. Rooms are spacious and homely and very comfortable. All in all fantastic value and highly recommended.
Review 38:Lovely clean comfortable room, everything was thought of to make a perfect relaxing stay. Delicious breakfast and friendly owners. There's nothing here to dislike. Thanks and we'll be back again when visiting Kendal.
Review 39:Would have preferred separate tables for breakfast - not really in the mood for sociable chat first thing in the morning!
Review 40:Really appreciated the warm welcome, cosy and comfortable room and great breakfast.
Review 41:This was one of the best guest houses my husbabd and I have been to, excellent accommadation, better than most hotels. We will certainly go back if we are in that area again?
Review 42:Lovely house, friendly proprietors and staff, great breakfast, nice room (we were given an upgrade) with proper bathroom; very useful to have free parking: actually no significant faults at all.
Review 43:Sorry we were only able to stay for two days.
Review 44:Lovely room, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. Close proximity to town centre meant we could leave the car at the Beeches and walk into Kendal.
Review 45:This gorgeous B&B is located just a few minutes walk from the town centre. It is beautifully decorated, with really comfy rooms and lots of luxurious extras. The owners are so welcoming and all you need do is relax.
Review 46:Our hosts were most pleasant and helpful. They advised us regarding our choice of routes, which made the most of our available time. We will definitely return.
Review 47:Kendal is a bit of a ghost town, experiencing the same fate as towns up and down the country - full of charity shops and betting shops, local businesses closing down.
Review 48:Run by a couple and both very friendly and helpful, knowledgeable about the local area and excellent breakfast! Decor was really nice both in the living/breakfast room and in the rooms. Lots of space, comfy beds, hot showers. Definitely recommended. Easy access by road to Windemere, Rydal, Grasmere and beyond.
Review 49:Just returned from a 2 night stay here and it was absolutely lovely. The hostess was great we were instantly upgraded with no extra fee and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast was fab and we felt genuinely comfortable and welcome. Would highly recommend this B and B to others. Thank you very much Josie x

Review 70:What a lovely place & so relaxing. With a comfy bed & easy chairs the room was lovely. Breakfast was excellent and the owners really nice. All very clean as well. Only 5 minutes walk downhill to the main street, it was handy for both the bus station and a bit further to the rail station. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
