Reviews for The Angel Hotel

Review 1:Shower head a bit old fashioned, hat to hand hold initially cos not sure where water would go

Review 2:Car parking which is a reason I chose hotel , also very central location in town, and close to restaurants

Review 3:Nobody on Reception when checking in AND out - had to wait 4 or 5 minutes both times. Also nobody behind the bar for 2 or 3 minutes both times I visited it.

Review 4:Room was spacious Breakfast staff were good

Review 5:Ideally suited for walking into Leamington centre, the room was very comfortable and had everything that you would need. The staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful.

Review 6:Extra charge for early or late check in/out of £10 per hour. We missed breakfast on the Sunday morning as it finished at 9.30am too early for a weekend stay.

Review 7:Good parking, short walking distance to all the shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.

Review 8:The noise from the floorboards when anyone walked by my room and also the noise of the creaking floor above.

Review 9:The central location very close to my friends, car parking on site.Excellent breakfast and very help staff.

Review 10:I've stayed in this hotel a few times over the year and the decor and rooms are becoming a bit dated. The rooms are quite draughty in winter due to the single glazing.

Review 11:The staff were very friendly and accommodating

Review 12:The windows in the room are single glazed and the traffic and pedestrian noise outside could be clearly heard and loud so not a great nights sleep. It wouldn't matter which room you stayed in.

Review 13:Hotel was close to the town and close to the theatre where we were seeing a show. Room was clean and tidy and reception staff were very friendly.

Review 14:car park a little too small.

Review 15:This is a lovely hotel in a very old building, very clean and modern with wifi. Food was delicious in the restaurant and the staff couldnt do enough felt very welcome here. superb.

Review 16:Everything about the place from the greeting at reception to departure. All the staff were most friendly, helpful and courteous. The room was very clean and comfortable, and nicely furnished. Would return tomorrow!

Review 17:Some road noise but expected due to location. Bathroom a little tired so would benefit from an update. Breakfast rather greasy.

Review 18:Good central location near to theatre we were visiting. Room was very spacious. Helpful reception staff. Parking facility good.

Review 19:The reception staff were not welcoming atall, especially on the first couple of days. Our friends, who were visiting from Sweden, asked for a room change (inadequate lighting) and then had to ask for another light (not working) and towels for two. Grudging help, no friendly enquiry about comfort etc and icy silence when our friends asked a question about their bill. We visit many hotels and have had better service at most of them, what a shame that this blighted our stay a little.

Review 20:The food was lovely and so were the staff in the dining room . We had a nice room and the seating in the bar was pleasant. The hotel was near to interesting shops and very central

Review 21:Old style two tap shower. I found that cappucino was available at breakfast but for an extra charge.

Review 22:Very helpul staff who took trouble to help us park, and though the room was fairly average we enjoyed the breakfast.

Review 23:The only negative is that the room was noisy. There is street noise and footsteps above are very audible. Our room was right at the staircase and not all guests bother to keep their voices down. However, at night we found that the room was quiet enough not to disturb our sleep.

Review 24:Lovely large room, extremely clean. Very good breakfast room and meal. Excellent location. Parking available on site.

Review 25:Sadly very small car park.and no disabled bays .bed a little bit uncomfortable but probably due to me preferring a softer mattress

Review 26:Friendly staff .nice large room and close to all amenities.

Review 27:Lovely Hotel, friendly staff from Reception through to Housekeeping. Amazing breakfast, could not fault at all,. Spent part of evening in bar, great atmosphere, wish we had time to stay longer, we will be back! Bedroom also was clean and refreshed promptly, room was warm and cosy, Tea making facilities supetb, plenty of milk, Tea and coffee.

Review 28:Room a little on the small side but bed was very comfortable. Heating got a bit stuffy but opened a window

Review 29:Receptionist very friendly and courteous on arrival - this may be the start of a repeat business booking and she was very helpful

Review 30:Staff were like robots, said all the right things and went through the script but hardly one smile between them (apart from the chef as he passed through and said hello). Attitude is contagious and it looks like they have all caught it unfortunately. A bit of customer service training required (basically just add a smile! Shower was an electric which had poor pressure/flow rate.

Review 31:Nice character building. Lovely entrance and bar/restaurant area. Nice clean comfortable room. Great breakfast.

Review 32:Room was a little tired, though clean. End attic room which was a little small. Little milkpots out of date and curdled as cheese

Review 33:Good downstairs, modern breakfast/dining room. Excellent friendly staff

Review 34:The bathroom needed a little TLC, other than that everything else was fine.

Review 35:The staff were very pleasant and overall we thought the facilities were very good.

Review 36:Eating in the restaurant was not relaxing. Staff seemed more anxious about clearing away and setting up for the next meal service than the guest experience. The restaurant lacked atmosphere. The hotel was a bit expensive for the level of accommodation. Road outside was noisy.

Review 37:Good location, walkable to town centre. Free parking.

Review 38:Remind the house keeper to replenish the supplies in the bathroom. Slippers should be provided as well. The location of electric socket is not user frienely. It should be located near the desk top area for the hair dryer.

Review 39:cleanliness of the hotel overall and friendlyness of staff in the coffee shop.

Review 40:The breakfast room was a bit crowd and there was not much bread variety nor much healthy cereals available.

Review 41:Perfect location. Easy Parking in town which is valuable.

Review 42:A really shocking senior receptionist , name , Ali . Between dealing with her own personal matters on the hotel phone , making an error with our booking and lacking significant customer service skills....... she needs immediate re training or asked to leave ; she is the first person we met on arrival and really was not welcoming , in fact , we seemed like an irritation to her that we had actually decided to ask for our room . She lets her team and the hotel down and she would not survive in my business on the basis of what we observed this weekend .

Review 43:Very friendly and helpful waiters/waitresses and a descent dinner menu with a really good breakfast and efficient and helpful staff throughout the restaurant

Review 44:The room was very hot at night even though the radiator was not on and I'm not sure about PG Tips tea on the tea tray but that's probably just me!

Review 45:The room was a nice size, clean bathroom and we had a very good dinner and breakfast was good.

Review 46:We had to park some distance from the hotel. It was not made clear that on site parking space is very limited and cannot be reserved. Our room was quite small and there was a noticeable build up of dust on skirting boards and in corners of the carpet.

Review 47:Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Very good service and evening meal in the restaurant. Stylish decor.

Review 48:Due to the building being listed, it does not have double glazing which means it is slightly noisy. However, this is what you would expect when staying in the middle of town.

Review 49:Location is excellent and breakfast was very good. Room was comfortable too.

Review 50:A very clean and comfortable hotel. Well located for the town centre. Breakfast was excellent too. Free car parking was an important factor in our choosing the hotel.

Review 51:elderly lady assisting with breakfast was sarcastic and not willing to serve guests as well as her colleague. Refused to bring coffee to the table, whereas, her colleague was more than happy to do so.

Review 52:Location was perfect

Review 53:The location of the light switch to the bathroom was odd!

Review 54:My room was excellent with good facilities and one of the best nights sleep in a hotel that I have ever had

Review 55:Receptionist on arrival not very welcoming but on leaving a different receptionist was the complete opposite.Superior room very, very dusty!! Due to lack of double glazing of which we were aware very noisy and we didn't sleep well.

Review 56:Location Breakfast good and serving staff very pleasant. Car parking facilities

Review 57:Need better cleaners, very dusty and bathroom sink needs to be replaced - also the noise from the saniflow was loud and the noise from drunk people outside made all the more louder due to no double glazing

Review 58:Location and great breakfast

Review 59:We were in Leamington for a friend's party and chose this hotel over the hotel where the party was being held as the reviews were much better - and glad we did as our friends stayed at the party hotel and had a poor room and said breakfast was chaotic. Great location, private parking, room small but very nice (what do you want to do in there?!), with really comfortable bed and crisp linen. Basin taps were a bit old and stiff, and a mixer tap would've been better (very small point though). Breakfast was served quickly, with the cooked element cooked fresh to order. We are well-travelled and very picky, and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 60:Cleanliness of room and common areas was poor. Room opposite a pub so very noisy. Staff not always friendly, just doing their job. Receptionist eating her lunch on reception

Review 61:Location and accessibility

Review 62:cappuccino made in the morning was like dish water choice of cold buffet breakfast not great .

Review 63:location and recommendations for eating places by receptionist was fab

Review 64:The room was a bit on the small side.

Review 65:It was comfortable and clean and I slept well. Staff where friendly and the decode in the bar and resurant created a nice environment to be in.

Review 66:Early evening bar staff poor/non existent. The hot breakfast was good but most hotels in this price range provide a buffet breakfast.

Review 67:Clean, quiet room at the back away from traffic.

Review 68:When we arrived back in the evening there wasn't a parking space for us.I asked the receptionist if there would be any chance of a parking spot later as diners left the restaurant. She very kindly moved her own car to let me have her parking spot;very nice lady indeed!

Review 69:The friendly and helpful staff. My traveling companion damaged her leg just before we set off for Leamington. We received a very high level of attention and assistance. We owe them a big THANK YOU

Review 70:Poached eggs not properly cooked whites very clear and runny. Sent them back to the kitchen, after a long wait given more, this time ok

Review 71:Area and quiet ness of the hotel, no music in the background. Shops nearby excellent,

Review 72:Traffic noise from room overlooking the avenue and other guests mentioned the noise from one of the pubs nearby, but then again you are located in the centre of a popular tourist town!

Review 73:Location was really good and the staff helpful when enquiring about things.

Review 74:nothing

Review 75:excellent cooked breakfast-nice bacon well cooked, fresh tomatoes and mushrooms. good to have parking on site. well decorated - modern feel to room.

Review 76:Was there for bowls competition, going through booking.com no bowlers discount other hotels have given it in the past. Not a lot of parking, had to pay outside on the road.

Review 77:Location and lay out of the hotel.

Review 78:Only comment is that there are no lifts as far as we could see. No good if you have a lot of luggage.Room 60 a bit noisy with early morning bin lorries.

Review 79:Front Rooms noisy AM and draughty due to non double glazed sash Windows. Look behind bath taps in Room 24

Review 80:Genuinely friendly and helpful staff shown particularly at reception, by James barman delivering my drink ( I have a walking stick ), and the breakfast girls! Breakfast included in room rate. Nice décor and cleanliness, Great central location

Review 81:As it was busy we were unable to park in carpark and had to use nearby parking where you had to get up for 8 oclock in morning to put a ticket on.

Review 82:lovely room, great breakfast, close to shops and restaurants

Review 83:I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.

Review 84:Staff were lovely and very helpful, rooms are very comfortable. We had cooked breakfast but had other cereal options available

Review 85:Noise from the nearby pub The Royal Pug was a bit intrusive but fortunately quietened down before midnight (we stayed on a Friday night)

Review 86:Location to centre of town, especially the proximity of a pub with an excellent range of craft beers (despite being the one cited as noisy!)

Review 87:In need of refurbishment and service leaves a bit to be desired. A genuine smile every now and then would be good and also concentrate on the customer rather than chatting to colleagues. One seemingly off duty member of staff talking at ther patio area with liberal use of the F word didn't help!

Review 88:Great location at a very good price - including breakfast and parking. Despite my slightly negative feedback I would consider staying here again.

Review 89:The room was very hot, uncomfortably so at times. An air conditioner would have made for a much better experience. Service was slow at breakfast as they were exceptionally busy.

Review 90:The location is excellent, and this is generally a good budget hotel. The cooked breakfast was very good.

Review 91:The windowsills in the room were not just dusty but dirty. Paint had peeled of the wall and lay on the floor between the bed and wall. After checking in we went up to the room only to find it was still being cleaned!

Review 92:Superb central location

Review 93:I'm coeliac and something in the breakfast was not GF. We didn't have time to get to the bottom (!) of it as we were rushing off to graduation but it was not the best start for a long day for me.

Review 94:It was no problem to change our booking from a twin to a double. Great location and parking.

Review 95:As with most hotels bedroom was a bit too hot and stuffy, even with the open window.

Review 96:Fab location in the middle of wonderful Leamington Spa. Happy and efficient staff. Good breakfast cooked to order.

Review 97:The room was very hot even with the window open due to the humid weather. I stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and both nights the Hotel was busy with a group of men. The first night's group went to bed fairly late and the noise from the bar kept me awake until midnight as the window was open. The second night's group were knocking on a door and talking in the corridor at 3am which kept me awake so you need to be aware that the Hotel can be noisy.

Review 98:The choice of food in the evening was good and reasonably priced. At Breakfast the cooked option was also very good and fresh in particular the scrambled egg. I would have like d the option of fresh fruit already cut up for eating in the morning. The location was excellent and very close to all the shops and town centre.

Review 99:Couldn't get parked in the hotel car park. There was a wedding on the Saturday though and a lot of guests stayed over.

Review 100:Good location with plenty of shop's and restaurants close by.

Review 101:Car parking was a problem - the car park is no way big enough for the hotel and street parking is limited and/or expensive.

Review 102:Came for a wedding and the layout of facilities was well done. Food was nice and bar prices very reasonable.

Review 103:The room was big and had a good bed. The breakfast the next morning was very good as well as the overall hotel itself. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Review 104:After dark, you would be hard pressed to read anything in print. The lights in the room were so gloomy that I had to supplement them with the light from my phone's torch! It was not the hotel's fault that an outside bar area of the pub across the road made it quite noisy.

Review 105:The staff on reception were very friendly and happily accepted my unusual request to store the ingredients for beef kebabs in the fridge of their restaurant's kitchen. The hotel is very well situated for exploring the town and nearby shops.

Review 106:Furniture in our room needs updating. Looks a bit tired. Room was clean until you really looked but not bad by any means.

Review 107:We paid for a larger room snd it was huge.

Review 108:Very uncomfortable bed. TV had sound but no picture. Informed reception on checking out. Did not seem too fussed. Left very disappointed and despite good location and good breakfast, would not want to return if comfort of guests is not important to them. If they are advertising that they have a flat screen TV, you have to assume that it works! You would also expect the bed of a 3-star hotel to be comfortable. Due to these problems, I would not return here - particularly as there was no offer from the hotel to make up for my bad experience on a future occasion.

Review 109:Location and breakfast and free parking

Review 110:We had to stay in a much smaller room than booked in the first night due to a problem with the lights in the room. Personally the beds were a bit too soft for me.

Review 111:The hotel was a very short walk away from the venue of the wedding we were attending. All the staff were very helpful and accommodating when issues arose.

Review 112:- shower was electric and incredibly loud - friends were staying in the room below and said they could hear us moving about

Review 113:- breakfast was good - location is close to main area of town - friendly receptionist

Review 114:Great little hotel, lovely friendly staff, nicely presented basic but very clean rooms and finished off with a really friendly full English breakfast . Highly recommend a stay at the angel hotel :)

Review 115:We visited our son in Leamington Spa last Saturday and this hotel was ideal. Clean and well appointed facility and well positioned for the town center. Staff are very friendly. Excellent for a weekend away.

Review 116:Couldn't flush the loo in the ladies downstairs. Kettle in the room could have done with a clean.

Review 117:Friendly and accommodating staff. Downstairs area is spacious and cosy & homely at the same time.

Review 118:Showers need sorting out as hard to get a decent temperature. Had to run it for ages as it was either scorching hot or cold.Old & outdated bathroom.

Review 119:Friendly staff, good location.

Review 120:It was a bit awkward getting in and out of the car park, and parking space was tight. The window in our room was single glazed and you could hear any noise from outside, but most of this was unobtrusive traffic noise.

Review 121:The staff were friendly and some were very friendly and helpful.

Review 122:I do not like bedrooms with carpets that show stains nor those strange pointless little decorative pillows that look very old and and are probably very dirty.

Review 123:Everything worked but that isn't enough.

Review 124:The staff at The Angel were welcoming and extremely helpful. We had chosen the hotel as it was near to the wedding we were attending but would definitely return for the comfort of the room and fantastic breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit!

Review 125:nothing really negative to say.

Review 126:Loved the location and ease of access to town and nearby. Great Car parking, great breakfast and staff were lovely in general - only one exception. Value was good.

Review 127:Nothing

Review 128:This is a fantastic hotel and superb value for money. The location is fab right in the heart of everything. All the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast was amazing best we have ever had. Thanks for a wonderful stay hope to return soon.

Review 129:The only, very minor issue, was the lack of shower pressure. It took ages to even start and then ages to shower as not enough water flowing to help :-(

Review 130:Spacious and well equipped room, excellent restaurant ( the food was amazing! ), friendly staff and very close to shops and nightlife.

Review 131:Awful synthetic pillows, duvet and bed linen. Lots of noise from delivery lorries outside from very early morning.

Review 132:Central location, ample free parking, good quality breakfast (except the juice...).

Review 133:Shower not very hot with poor water pressure- no bath Breakfast finishes too early on weekends - 9:30

Review 134:Location of hotel - near shops and restaurants. Comfortable bed Comfortable lounge

Review 135:The staff planned for the fact that we were travelling as a group and put us in rooms that were close to each other and had a breakfast table available for the group too, without being asked.

Review 136:Only watch out for us is that the pub across the road can be quite noisy if you are going to bed before midnight.

Review 137:Always have a nice welcome at reception and staff throughout are helpful. Room was lovely spacious and comfortable Very good bed
