Reviews for Craigsanquhar House Hotel

Review 1:There were no problems at all with the hotel.

Review 2:Carlos the restaurant manager was a wonderful support and made sure everything was perfect for us. The food was absolutely exquisite and the landscape very romantic and misty; even on a cold January day it was mesmerising. The room was luxurious and lovely, and we would love to stay again sometime.

Review 3:Room was at the top of the hotel with a lot of stairs. Felt like we were in the maids quarter. Mini wardrobe more suited to children. No mirror in room for styling hair.

Review 4:The breakfast

Review 5:Dark room, light blocked out by ivy growing over glass, finding six empty milk capsule on our tea/coffee tray on arrival. Didn't get a room overlooking the garden area as advertised and indeed payed £140 for. When we booked on booking.com it clearly said superior double with garden view, we overlooked the entrance road.

Review 6:View from hotel garden, food, although lacking a bit on amount of it, lounge area. Staff were great.

Review 7:No complaints as such although if you asked me for feedback I would say a little more attention to details such as cleaning of doors, skirting boards etc

Review 8:The views were stunning, breakfast delicious, staff helpful, amazing house. We have recommended to friends and would definitely return.

Review 9:Atmosphere cold and unwelcoming. Pretentious. Impression given that having guests was an unwelcome chore.

Review 10:Wonderful room, albeit it had not been properly cleaned/hoovered after the previous occupants. Confetti on the floor and plastic tags from new clothing!

Review 11:Super comfy beds, delicious food which was beautifully served and piping hot, attentive and friendly staff, beautiful grounds, wonderful Scottish manor house with well maintained original features.

Review 12:I feel taken advantage by their booking process. I ended up with a "cancelled" reservation through one online service that I then replaced via booking.com. The hotel charged me for 2 rooms and are adamant that I do not deserve and refund compensation. Bad form.

Review 13:No lift a lot of stairs and put in an attic room with stains on the ceiling where it had leaked. For £125 I did not feel that this room was of the correct size and decoration. More like a farmhouse Band B standard than somcalled opulence which it was not. Once again mis selling in Booking . Com. Can hotels say what they like to get you to buy the room then under deliver !

Review 14:Lovely gardens and a good lonely breakfast !

Review 15:Twin beds were on the top floor we were told and no lift . Steep stairway . Has had money spent upgrading but am not sure about the safety of bedside lights. unstable bedside table and kettle flex not long enough

Review 16:Evening meal was enjoyable and the chef and waiter made an effort to ensure my gluten allergy would be considered. Breakfast was poor with limited small quantaties, no marmalade and poor selection of starters.

Review 17:The decor, setting and service was wonderful. Easy access to St Andrews in a peaceful rural setting. Follow signs from Central Cupar. Meals were delicious and staff were pleasant and helpful

Review 18:wished we had booked for the week instead of a short break.

Review 19:everything was great! staff, amazing food, beautiful room, stunning surroundings. very English with a modern twist...best steak I have had in a long time. great base to discover Fife, so close to everything.

Review 20:Difficulty in finding the place. signposted from one end of the narrow road but not from the other end. Room was up two flights of stairs the last flight being quite steep.

Review 21:Fantastic room almost like a suite. Breakfast was beautifully cooked. We were on a quick touring break so had no time to sample evening meal although the menu seemed to have excellent choices. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

Review 22:the location close to St. Andrews in the middle of rolling hills, the space and elegance of the hotel, the quality of the restaurant, availability and helpfulness of staff (we were upgraded, a small IT mistake - our son did not show up as booked - was no problem)

Review 23:wifi did not work during my stay a bit too isolated shower took a while to run warm sat waiting to be served for breakfast a little too long

Review 24:building was amazing grounds were amazing parking was ample setting was good very peaceful

Review 25:Breakfast poor Bar poor Could not get drinks I asked for Staff poor No dinner menu or bar menu in room Not much choice of breakfast cereal

Review 26:Location Room Bathroom

Review 27:wifi was not working.

Review 28:Hotel was situated in a tiny town in the middle of whiskey country. Great walking/biking path access. A fabulous whiskey bar with 100's to choose from with a new one opening with 3 times more bottles. David the bartender was extremely knowledgeable about whiskey. Food was excellent the restaurant. Hotel just underwent a renovation which is close to completion.

Review 29:Not a complaint by any means, but, on hindsight, would have had an upgrade we stayed in deluxe twin very comfortable beds, clean. Prefer bigger window it felt a little claustrophobic - that's me! No problem for husband.

Review 30:Location,which we loved, quiet peaceful lovely views. We had a bar snack in the evening, beautifully presented and delicious, warm beef sandwich with salad and crisps on white cob bread and brie, smoked bacon and mushroom panini, scrumy. Breakfast very good too.

Review 31:Shower not working properly - blocked jets on shower head Some of the decor tired and worn If food is to be served til a certain time, it should be served as advertised on menu and not missing certain components

Review 32:Location Views Public areas clean and bright Beautiful gardens Friendly staff Reasonably priced food and drink

Review 33:"Superior room"??Tiny bathroom, no mirror/dressing table despite huge room! Difficulty contacting the hotel staff when I arrived and when locked out! (my fault for getting back at 00:11 hours! Disappointing breakfast. Unpainted repairs to wall/ceiling in corridor.

Review 34:Grand entrance and grounds, large bedroom, comfy enormous bed! Friendly staff - when you found them!

Review 35:signage at the entrance needs to be improved

Review 36:very friendly staff very clean warm no problams

Review 44:Some of the onterior design was a little eclectic.

Review 45:Views fantastic. Food excellent. Service prompt, helpful and courteous

Review 46:WiFi was slow, only one socket in room.

Review 47:Quiet peaceful, location was good for my needs, lovely grounds. Nice character full building.

Review 48:THE INSIDE OF THE DRAWERS OF THE PIECE OF FURNITURE WERE WITH DUST.

Review 49:EXCELLENT SERVIVE.

Review 50:Excellent venue would use afain

Review 51:Quite expensive. Small attic room, not good value.

Review 52:Old mansion in private grounds. Quiet. Staff are very helpful.

Review 53:BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS ALBEIT A BIT ISOLATED. FOOD EXCELLENT.

Review 54:Mob phone no reception.

Review 55:Comfort. Food. Friendly staff cleanliness. Bed. Rural setting.

Review 56:A bit costly

Review 57:location beautiful surroundings

Review 58:The portions of food served could have been larger

Review 59:The food tasted great, well presented but not much of it

Review 60:some of the rooms

Review 61:the building the grounds

Review 62:Peaceful and luxurious. Was upgraded to a suite which was delightful. Bed was extremely comfortable and we had a wonderful sleep.

Review 63:Simple but quality food.

Review 64:Quiet country location

Review 65:Delicious and tasty breakfast, friendly staff

Review 66:Peace and quiet with lovely views

Review 67:Slippery bathroom floor. Lack of non-slip grips in shower.

Review 68:Setting views sofas

Review 69:Breakfast not great

Review 70:Quality of the suite

Review 71:We paid one hundred and twenty pounds for a tiny attic room 3 flights up with our luggage.

Review 72:Breakfast was good although the coffee was cold

Review 73:Good food, beautiful room, gorgeous communal areas

Review 74:I had a chance to unwind and relax After a long drive and full day at work. Nice surroundings, very nice hotel, everything was good quality.

Review 75:Staff were very nice but restaurant staff could do with training.

Review 76:Food was excellent

Review 77:Very nice people Got food even I arrived late Quiet place Fresh air :-)

Review 78:It was a little hard to find on gps as it is in the middle of a country field. But once we got there I was just blown away by the place.

Review 79:This was a great place to stay. Very comforting with a restaurant and a bar area. Staff was very helpful and the food and views were amazing.

Review 80:Hotel focussed more on hoildaymakers than business clients, no room desk facilities. Some very minor issues, but nothing to put off a hoilday maker who is looking for a quiet overnight retreat.

Review 81:Hotel has that country house feel and sits in lovely secluded grounds. The staff that were on duty were helpful and attentive. Food was well cooked with a good choice. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Review 82:Rooms were very warm, uncomfortably warm. Basic facilities, bottled water in room was warm, no fridges in rooms. Bar staff had no knowledge of drinks for sale, breakfast service was painfully slow and coffee did not arrive. The price of the room (129) was excessive. I would not stay at hotel again

Review 83:Lovely grounds

Review 84:As I was travelling on business the poor network connection was a bit of an issue but for people on holiday I can't see how they can find something not to like!

Review 85:Everything. Great surprise.

Review 86:TOO HOT! The room radiators deed not seem to have any control so it was too hot in the room.

Review 87:Its a special place, great staff and excellent food. Felt very relaxed.

Review 88:The Suite was dull and shabby - I wish I'd taken a paint brush with me as it was crying out for attention. The venue seems to get very good results for weddings; however if you are staying as a guest not included in a wedding party you may feel fairly neglected and treated with less concern.

Review 89:The location; the building.

Review 90:The food was good but could be better.

Review 91:Lovely friendly staff excellent accomodation.we were upgraded to a lodge and it was superb. Having mentioned it was our wedding anniversary we returned from dinner to a bottle of champagne and glasses waiting for us.This just typified the attention you receive.

Review 92:Twin rooms were on second floor and as having my elderly mother with me it was quite a number of stairs for her to climb.

Review 93:Room was clean comfortable and liked the separate sitting room and extra television. Staff were always very pleasant and helpful

Review 94:Lack of privacy in the bathroom - clear glass, no blind or curtains. One of the cups in the room had not been washed and was stuck to the saucer. in the restaurant, the scallops starter was expensive for what appeared to be one scallop divided into three accompanied by some coarsely cut stir fried vegetables and this wasn't unto the standard of the rest of the meal. When we booked it indicated that there was only one room left. In fact, we were the only guests in the hotel!

Review 95:Peaceful location, lovely dining room and lounge, friendly staff.

Review 96:Minor stuff: some of the wall furnishings would not have been my choice. Bathroomy things could have seen a bit more maintenance.

Review 97:Fab location in the heart of the Fife countryside. A 'big hoose' with good quality furniture, v comfy bed and courteous & helpful staff. Good restaurant & bar.

Review 98:Nothing !

Review 99:The Mr. John Morris's family and friendly atmosphere. The sound of the nature: wind, rain, bird, sheep. The creepy sound of the woodfloor when walking... The beautiful landscape of "1986's Highlander" movie film.

Review 100:Minor niggle; trouble connecting to wi-fi. Fine in public areas but weak in guest room.

Review 101:Very comfortable rooms and relaxing atmosphere. Staff very attentive. Public areas have a lovely ambience.

Review 102:As I was travelling for business the poor wifi was a bit of a problem.

Review 106:Beautiful property with professional staff Quiet location . Very nice antiques

Review 107:Lovely place and views
