Reviews for Woodland Grange
Review 1:Being a lady travelling on my own I would have liked a chain on the bedroom door for my own security. I know the doors double lock but as soon as you touch the handle the door opens. With a chain you know the door is secure.
Review 2:The staff were great. The hotel exceeded my expectations. I have stayed in a number of hotels in that area for work and this is the best hotel so far.
Review 3:Not the best breakfast we had on our two weeks in England and Scotland (that was in York), but overall it was a good solid hotel.
Review 4:The price was right and the hotel was clean.
Review 5:View from room 225 not very good but only stayed overnight so not really a problem.
Review 6:Good atmosphere.Free tea and coffee facilities in lounge area.Good breakfast.
Review 7:Dinner- too expensive for size of portion - not many gluten free choices and some of those listed as gluten free contained ingredients that weren't!! eg pearl barley
Review 8:Pleasant, Helpful staff Great breakfasts and very helpful waitress/chef as I am gluten intolerant Leisure suite
Review 9:A small point, but I was in a hurry and particularly made a point of going to reception very early in the morning to check if I had paid for my room in advance, as I wasn't sure whether I had paid on booking. The receptionist checked and said yes I had paid and could leave straight after breakfast. However, when I was leaving another receptionist was on duty and informed me that I hadn't actually paid, which held me up and made me late for my judging appointment. Everything else, however, was perfect, and I appreciate that this was just an admin error.
Review 10:Comfortable, clean room. Excellent food. Fabulous breakfast. Pleasant location. Helpful staff.
Review 11:We arrived to find our room only had one chair one bedside table and no chair at dressing table.D/table mirror much too high on wall.We were promised a free meal on last night to compensate for our dissapointment but now find we were charged. We think the hotel should display more care.Hotel needs a manager to oversee overall running.
Review 12:Excellent food and helpful staff
Review 13:When we arrived we asked Reception staff about hot ood availability. When dircted to the bar we were told that only sandwiches were available and it would be another hour and a half before they would be serving hot food. In the end we went into town to eat. Seems reception staff are unaware of food timings.
Review 14:Clean, spacious and comfortable room.
Review 15:Food choice/menu was inadequate. Choice of main meal was more like a fast food outlet. Food for two came out at separate times with lengthy delay.
Review 16:Location, the receptionists welcome, gardens, parking
Review 17:Rooms very basic - only one bedside lamp in room. I was a single traveller but one cup, spoon and set of towels seem a bit of a cheap tactic.
Review 18:Delicious smoothies offered at breakfast
Review 19:Limited dinner menu and unlucky with our particular choice, but dealt with by staff in excellent manner and no fuss.
Review 20:Everything was well ordered, clean and peaceful, a great setting.
Review 21:On arrival they had lost booking. Later admitted that it was their error not Booking.coms. Found a room for us which was set up as a single occupancy. Housekeeper appeared with towel and plastic bag of bathroom items which she dumped on the bed. Wash basin blocked and first maintenance man arrived with knife in one hand and half eaten banana in other! At check-out we were presented with a bill for twice the amount quoted when we booked with Booking.com. Eventually received a discount in compensation for all the problems.Hotel geared up for conference use but not for tourists.
Review 22:The view of a mowed field out of the bedroom window
Review 23:Life very small Coffee Machine in Atrium did not work WiFi in room was really bad - one bar at best Staff very bland and no personality No extra toilet paper or tissues Walls very thin
Review 24:It was clean
Review 25:If I was picking holes... the rooms were lovely and clean, however, the 'runner/quilt' along the bottom of both beds had stains.
Review 26:This is the 4th time I have stayed here. Reception staff very friendly, great shower and bathroom, lovely breakfast.
Review 27:The room was very noisy from the adjacent main room There was no AC in the room thus it got very stuffy at times. The cutlery in the restaurant were dreadfully dirty with previous food still suck on them! The towels were not changed even though they were stained. There was no small fridge in the room for essential medication
Review 28:Location nr town centre
Review 29:Dinner menu could have been a little more extensive but the food quality was very good.
Review 30:Great weekend location and venue. Rooms very comfortable. Facilities excellent. Staff friendly and accommodating. Superb breakfast choice !
Review 31:Great facilities, lovely setting and with nice little extras included e.g. fruit in the reception area. Communal social areas were modern and comfortable and catered for all tastes. Staff were extremely helpful. Would definitely go again and would recommend.
Review 32:Breakfast on Saturday was excellent, Breakfast on Sunday appalling! One tiny bar of soap for 2 night say.
Review 33:Peaceful location, good parking and calm ambience within hotel.
Review 34:Dinner was very expensive and not very good. Breakfast was not very good either. The hot tub was luke-warm at best.
Review 35:The view from our bedroom looking onto a field was amazing. The staff were sooo helpful
Review 36:Small room and small bed. I know it was a single but it was a very small single on the top floor and it was very warm. Mirror in bathroom difficult to get to but there were others. Pluses outweigh the minuses.
Review 37:Parking, light and space, modern feel, service, lounge, food.
Review 38:The mattress in the bed was wavy and hard,So did nt sleep very well No windows to get fresh air only a fan to circulate what air there was. Room very warmunfortunately
Review 39:We booked for 2 but the room was set up for 1. No bedside table on one side of the bed, no bedside lamps only the overhead lights with a dimmer. The pillows also need to be renewed.
Review 40:Good sized rooms
Review 41:no airconditioning in room with large glass window, free standing fan only, uncomfortable nights sleep as so hot despite locked out of room at 10am Sunday morning when 11am check out ( affected whole hotel)
Review 42:excellent location, enjoyed evening meal
Review 43:Lack of air conditioning Lack of second chair in double room Inferior mattress
Review 44:Staff very accommodating Comfortable lounge areas with free coffee etc. Very welcoming reception area.
Review 45:Difficult to locate, the receptionist indicated post code was not best for satnav. Check out was given as 10.00am but in fact was 11.00 a.m. - resulting in unnecessary rush on Sunday am. Only one bedside table in a double room.
Review 46:Excellent breakfast and pleasant staff. Room had a good view.
Review 47:Everywhere baking hot with no ability to regulate temperature except a noisy room fan. Room carpet had crumbs and other detritus from previous occupants and pillow cases stained - including a replacement one supplied after a complaint! Not up to 4 star standard.
Review 48:courteous and helpful staff
Review 49:The bathroom was filthy, hairs everywhere, the white floor had bare feet black footprints, toilet had pubic hairs on it! The bed was hard and lumpy and the pillowcases had old mascara stains. The bed throw had white stains! The patio doors were filthy and a lot of dust in general. Paid the same to stay at the Woodside hotel yet a world of difference!
Review 50:Food was good although very limited choice
Review 51:It was the hottest day of the year and the hotel did supply a fan but it was sweltering in the upper rooms, not their fault but it did affect how I viewed the place. Booking.com reservation not recognised which cost 10 mins...
Review 52:Staff friendly, efficient and helpful
Review 53:Room not ready at 4pm. Room not clean had to request cleaners. Bathroom mirror not suitable for anyone over 4ft 6in, had to kneel to shave.
Review 54:Staff extremely helpful couldn't do enough for us. Food out of this world.
Review 55:First room allocated was not adequate or clean but problem resolved & room moved was excellent. We had to ask for second bedside table & lamp as we were told one was standard.
Review 56:Staff very friendly.
Review 57:Too much of a corporate feel, not easy to find (no signs on the main road), staff not easy to find (couldn't find anyone to serve me at the bar in the evening ended up with a coffee from the machine).
Review 58:Breakfast was nice. Room was adequate. Free Wi-fi.
Review 59:Great location.Staff friendly and helpful. The food was excellant.hotel inside and out very clean. Would reccomend this hotel.Stayed here after visiting the airshow in Fairford.
Review 60:Just one minor matter, breakfast was only available from 7am, a 6.30h start would have been more convenient.
Review 61:Very good facilities. Pleasant and helpful staff
Review 62:It was too hot, I couldn't sleep even with the window on and a fan going full blast. I ended up sleeping on top of the bed, but I didn't sleep well at all.
Review 63:The staff were lovely, very pleasant and cheerful. The room was lovely, large, well furnished and clean.
Review 64:Booked due to walking out of the Royal Court Coventry which was not up to standard. Receptionist friendly and welcoming. Modern, clean, comfortable surroundings. Staff all very kind and professional. Tea or coffee available 24/7 in public areas
Review 65:A nice hotel in beautiful lush green surroundings with large open spaces and ample parking. Friendly staff and good clean rooms, what more can one ask for ?
Review 66:Nothing negative to report other than poor O2 network coverage which made using my mobile a little difficult at times.
Review 67:Friendly and helpful service. Anne in particular at Front Desk as extremely helpful.
Review 68:Nothing major. A bit of a mix up checking out due to someone putting food and drinks on my room, but sorted quickly and efficiently.
Review 69:Excellent accommodation and food. Lovely ground and easy access and car parking facilities.
Review 70:Being primarily a conference center it lacked atmosphere in the evening, Evening menu was a little expensive
Review 71:A super room in modern hotel set in landscaped gronds. A brilliant breakfast. Close to Leamington spa.
Review 72:Nasty smell of rotten eggs in Car Parks C & D - must be the drains. Strong smell of dog mess close to hotel building Reception staff tried to show another couple into our room as we were resting. Wrong newspaper delivered in morning
Review 73:Fabulous grounds Great breakfast Clean and comfortable Good value for money
Review 74:There is no chair in the bedroom and the room itself was very basic. There was only one bedside table which was strange. It would have also been useful to have two!
Review 75:Great shower in the bathroom Great breakfast Very clean
Review 76:The gymnasium was well equipped and up to date. Lovely gardens and surroundings. The buildings were a mix of old and very modern and this combination works very well.
Review 77:We went to the hotel bar as restaurant didn't serve until 1900 and we were leaving 1930. You could not get bar food until 1830 which was a rush for us although you could get a drink and cold sandwich. Would be better if bar food available throughout the afternoon
Review 78:Staff were great, very helpful. Nice clean rooms with good bathroom. Everything you needed was in the room
Review 79:Room was supposed to be a double room but only set up for one person; one towel, mug, cup etc. Bed uncomfortable.
Review 80:Very efficient, friendly and helpful staff
Review 81:We were fortunate to get one of the nicely renovated rooms, but the view was of the inner courtyard.
Review 82:The breakfasts were served in a open and well lit atrium with views of the grounds. The assortment of freshly made smoothies was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 83:The only negative is noise of traffic when window is open, assume this only affects road facing rooms though.
Review 84:Very clean and comfortable, bathroom modern and immaculate. Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent Wifi connectivity.
Review 85:Room 339 had no bedside table or light on LH side, no suitcase stand (when requested, told none available in hotel), no hairdryer ("taken from other room" for us). Paper & alarm call not actioned. No mirror for makeup or shaving, main mirror ludicrously low. Conference catering poor, drinks dispensers instead of staff lost us all valuable time.
Review 86:Cheerful staff let down by bad management. Bright, clean, obviously recently decorated and pleasant surroundings, in lovely location.
Review 87:The bed was a bit hard and the radiator made a noise.
Review 88:The breakfast is one of the best with lots of healthy options such as fruit, seeds, nuts and smoothies. My wife adored the shower. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Review 89:Nothing to report here
Review 90:The restaurant was the highlight. The 4 staff really turned up the energy - big welcome, relaxed conversation, attentive service, responsive to requests and generally joining in a making the meal a very peasant experience. The solo business man wants warmth and a little banter - Thanks, it was fun.
Review 91:Squeaky bed was the only complaint No road signage to the hotel!!! Ramada is sign posted as is the other grange at the top of the road but not here? I drove passed twice and had to ask the guy at the ramada. It may be ok during the day but at night you can't see it.
Review 92:Facilities, breakfast staff all smiles and efficient. Good parking
Review 93:Staff willing to be flexible. e.g. My husband needed to eat due to a medical condition and bar staff arranged with the chef to make a sandwich even though it was our error mistaking the start time for bar food
Review 94:Lack of staff .billing system down.luckerly we had some cash.had a double room but only one towel in bathroom and one coffee cup !
Review 95:Decor was nice .But hotel seemed lacking in guests .no bars open ,restaurant half open.
Review 96:Overnight stay arriving quite late so didn't check out all facilities, so don't think I can comment.
Review 97:Spacious lounge area with good wifi good. Good quality food, reasonably priced and an excellent breakfast. Friendly staff ... With the exception of the barman.
Review 98:Bed a little uncomfortable. We found the duvet quite heavy, but that's probably just our personal choice.
Review 99:Very clean. Excellent breakfast in terms of choice & quality. All staff we encountered appeared happy & were helpful.
Review 100:Excellent as a meeting venue, with self service drinks and biscuits freely available, and a couple of lounge areas to work in. Staff very helpful and pleasant
Review 101:Vinegar full of dead little flies which was disgusting and ruined our meal and the whole stay (the cost of the meal was canceled). Stain on bead cover Stained towel. room and facility too warm and unable to control the temperature.
Review 102:The location is good, good parking visual appearance of the building is grand.
Review 103:the ceiling was leaking due to heavy rain. but the staff were friendly and they changed my room. the cleanliness was poor in the bathrooms.
Review 104:the staff were friendly. breakfast was nice. unnnecessarily many cardio equipment at the gym. could do better with a few more variety.
Review 105:Breakfast was good with a selection including special items which you don't normally come across in your average hotel. Room although feeling a little more compact than a usual King, had quality linen and felt more luxurious than I'm used to in a hotel.
Review 106:Not much. Bar and restaurant was quite quiet in the evening, so a bit lacking in atmosphere
Review 107:Large room, excellent facilities and good breakfast. Have already booked to stay again
Review 108:Wonderful value for money, friendly staff, very clean and comfy. Breakfast was my favourite, wonderful smoothies available, will be making sure we book here for next years trip.
Review 109:On arrival I was met with a disgruntled member of staff who couldn't find my name on the system and insinuated that this was my fault, he was also unhelpful when I pointed out that he needn't take any further card details as he clearly already had them. My room had a drainage issue which meant a rather uncomfortable first night. There was no indication when booking that money wasn't taken at that point (though this is mainly a fault with booking.com)
Review 110:The problem with my room was sorted out quickly and effectively when the issue was raised with afternoon staff on the Tuesday, they were fantastic.
Review 111:room 111 should be reconsidered. its tinny, has background noise from kitchen machinery for the entire night, its has the window to the roundabout which has traffic noise and the delivery door for kitchen supplies is right under the window as well.
Review 112:leisure facilities and breakfast remains the the most attractive reason I always stay there
Review 113:The fact that it looked like we had been squeesed into a single room by the addition of a single bed this was emphasised by the fact one set of towels and one cup and saucer
Review 114:Lovely location and building well set out
Review 115:Bar staff and a couple of restaurant staff are not quite 'service with a smile'. No safe in the bedroom. I have been going here for the last 6 months on and off, and the menu is still the same summer menu.
Review 116:Very well maintained hotel, recently updated and decorated. Very pleasant staff, especially reception and a couple of waitresses. Good size rooms with large comfortable beds and TVs, good wifi. Good value food. Nice spacious reception areas, with free coffee and biscuits. Good grounds and plenty of parking.
Review 117:Room was very hot and heating noisy but I managed to calm it down!
Review 118:Efficient and made welcome although it is clearly not used too much by 'private' customers.
Review 119:Could not get into restaurant
Review 120:Room was well laid out and comfortable. Food was good but had to eat in bar as couldn't get into restaurant. Book early
Review 121:Bar manager in the evening needs sacking. Jacuzzi is a bit small for such a big hotel. Evening meal was ok.
Review 122:Staff excellent except 1 member of staff. Complimentary drinks on tap. Breakfast was the best I have ever had, excellent. Ambience very nice.
Review 123:The verical blinds in the room are what I would expect in an office and would rather prefer curtains
Review 124:Room was comfortable and had all the amenities I would expect.
Review 125:I was located on the first floor and found it quite noisy.
Review 126:I enjoyed using the gym, sauna and Jacuzzi. The breakfast was good and the staff were all friendly.
Review 127:The room was very spacious and modern. My only concern was that while the room was very clean, the bathroom had not been cleaned. The toilet was dirty and hadnt been flushed, the sink was dirty and had tea/coffe remains. The shower screen also had not been cleaned
Review 128:This is a conference hotel so was very quiet when I stayed. It has been refurbished to a very high standard. The breakfast included in the ratewas excellent
Review 129:Bed, Mattress dirty with uncomfortable springs. Linen soiled. Coffee at breakfast cold and waitress cross when asked to make fresh.
Review 130:Reception staff pleasant
Review 131:View out of bedroom window room 214 Extractor fan running all night 1cup 1bedside cabinet 1 bath towel we booked for 2 adults Did not think room was king size
Review 132:Breakfast Cleanliness staff
Review 133:No Swimming Pool
Review 134:Welcome Drinks and snack on arrival was a great idea. Great Gym Facilities, Lovely Breakfast - Both Hot and Cold buffet with plenty of choice, Spacious and modern rooms. 1st floor is easy for Gym access. Lovely Setting and Free WI-was a good idea too.
Review 135:Nothing
Review 136:Very modern, very clean, excellent value, good freshly-cooked breakfast (not a buffet on the day we were there). Good range in bar. Gym equipment in very good condition
Review 137:we had a 'king' room, but it felt very cramped because of the low sloping ceiling. Not very comfortable for people above 5' tall who don't want to hit their heads all the time. No view from the room as the windows are in the ceiling.
Review 138:location was good for access to Leamington. Pleasant, modern hotel. Good breakfast choice. Nice toiletries in the bathroom. If we stayed again we would ask for a room that is not in the roof space ie not with a sloping ceiling
