Reviews for Royal Dunkeld Hotel

Review 1:Staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we enjoyed our stay. We were staying overnight with our twin toddlers and the manager made sure that we had a good sized family room with two cot beds.

Review 2:Modernization of rooms is required. Thicker doors (can hear noises from hallway)

Review 3:Helpfull staff, very nice common areas/staircases (dinning and pub area need upgrade).

Review 4:The beds were old and uncomfortable, and my colleague is over 6 foot and didn't sleep well .

Review 5:Staff were very friendly hotel lovely and warm on a cold evening ,, good atmosphere in bar where we ended eating,

Review 6:The bar is a little stark. It could benefit from some sofas or armchairs, to allow guests to relax with a drink and read or talk to locals.

Review 7:Nice comfortable room. Nice bar supper

Review 8:Some of the decore is a bit dated and in need of a revamp.

Review 9:The food in the hotel was absolutely superb in terms of quality and presentation. Lovely local produce on offer and excellent value for money.

Review 10:Nothing to warrant a comment, found everything to my satisfaction.

Review 11:Staff very friendly and efficient, immediate offer of different room in view of my disability.

Review 12:although we had booked several days in advance our booking hadn't be noted so we weren't expected . The bathroom was very shabby and the shower was small with no rack or shelf to put shampoo etc on and very slow draining .

Review 13:the breakfast was well cooked

Review 14:Staff are all very helpful and considerate and obviously enjoyed their work which makes such a difference to their attitudes towards guests. Also the food was enjoyable with a menu that would suit all tastes.

Review 15:We arrived for breakfast on our first morning and were presented with a pot of tea which was splattered with oatmeal on top and on the side and on the spout!. When we picked up our cereal bowls, they too were splattered with mixed cereal and various other foods which had not been properly washed. We picked at our breakfast but could not eat it, as everything tasted of hot fat. We left the table but did not complain. We did not come down for breakfast the following morning!! The lady in charge did not make any comment although we made her aware of the problem. We drew it to her attention again when we checked out at the end of our stay, but again she seemed to be very indifferent. The staff appeared to be young school girls.

Review 16:It was central to the area we were in. The bar was comfortable and the hotel was good but just a bit tired.

Review 17:Old, poor service, really bad value for money, very average breakfast, bathroom badly maintained, no accessories in bathroom

Review 18:Location and town are lovely

Review 19:I feel that the hotel is in need of modernisation. Bathroom is very basic and perhaps a few decent toiletries would be welcome. The price did not reflect the overall ambience of the hotel. I expected more for my money.

Review 20:The location was perfect for us. Waiting staff were excellent and managed to serve dinner to our large party very efficiently. Thank you. The dinner was good value for money.

Review 21:Brilliant hard working staff nothing was a problem to them my cuz forgot his phone charger mentioned it to a member she asked around and managed to get a loan of one for him would highly recommend this hotel

Review 22:Breakfast dishes were a touch dirty, they should have been checked after being in the dishwasher.

Review 23:Staff were courteous and professional, hotel very much a dog friendly establishment which is a BIG plus, choice of food was excellent

Review 24:The lay out of the bar restaurant is bit odd, hotel folk go throughout the restaurant to the bar. The bar docent open onto the street so not so welcoming.

Review 25:The food was good in the restaurant, Trade winds on rep in the bar. Kippers available for breakfast. Staff very nice and helpful.

Review 26:Food not as good as last time we visited a few years ago but still nice.Room looking a bit tired and nothing in room to tell you meal times, menu etc...you are informed at reception on booking in only.Bed lovely and comfy though.

Review 27:Nice get away from it all mini break in lovely Dunkeld.Looking around you can feel the history of the place...

Review 28:rooms are a little dates, they reminded me of the Trust House Forte hotels of the past - lovely building but very 1970's room.

Review 29:good food, good location

Review 30:The bedroom was supposed to be an executive (upgraded) room. However in reality it was simply a family room with a very small ensuite. There was not much special about it to justify the price of £140 for B&B quite frankly.

Review 31:Rooms are a little dated but perfectly comfortable, they seem to be updating as the dinning room and breakfast room are lovely. Plumbing in room 110 needs a little work!

Review 32:Very friendly staff, lovely breakfast, clean, large room, great value, quiet and right in the middle of Dunkeld.

Review 33:Nothing springs to mind

Review 34:Friendly staff. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Traditional Scottish decor, with numerous, interesting paintings, prints. Good internet connection at no additional charge. Very quiet and peaceful place. Good parking facilities. Definately a place we will return too.

Review 35:No complaints!

Review 36:We loved the village, walked the Main Street and paths behind the hotel to the river - dined well in town, shopped the book store in the church, met friendly people with friendly dogs also on walks. The window boxes of flourishing begonias looked wonderful from our bed.

Review 37:nothing

Review 38:We were attending a wedding at a nearby hotel and booked this hotel to stay. I asked at reception if my husband who was arriving later than me could order a taxi to the wedding and the owner offered to drive him to the wedding! He also offered us use of the residents lounge for our return as we were catching up with friends we hadn't seen in a long while. He also chilled champagne that we had brought. Great staff, really made the stay a pleasure. Will be booking again soon!

Review 39:Walls so thin I could hear the person in the next room snoring. Pretty dated, bed so hard along with the pillows. Very tiny room and shower head could use some bleach.

Review 40:Breakfast and staff were great

Review 41:Comfortable, good breakfast and choice of evening meal and very comfortable bed...some of the decor was a little dated but this added to the ambiance of the place...wouldn't have been surprised to see someone in a deerstalker and smoking a pipe.

Review 42:Other guests slamming doors till 1a.m.! Never happened before at this hotel.

Review 43:Convenient location. Good parking. Excellent food.Helpful staff. Obviously has a long tradition of hospitality.

Review 44:Hotel was a little tired looking and the cooked breakfast was a bit small for the price.

Review 45:Very clean and the location was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 46:As I have difficulty in walking a lift would have been nice as we were on the 2nd floor.

Review 47:Relaxed atmosphere, comfortable rooms and beds. Good food with beautiful view.

Review 48:The bed could have been more comfortable (my double was extremely hard) and we didn't like the foam pillows.

Review 49:Staff were all cheerful and very helpful and the breakfast (especially the porridge!) met our varied requirements. The hotel was clean and our room, at the back was very quiet. We had a surfeit of clean and fluffy white towels.

Review 50:Bathrooms where very simple, with a wavy linoleum floor. But good pressure in the shower. Breakfast was ok but a more limited compared to same price hotels elsewhere in Scotland.

Review 51:Very friendly reception and uncomplicated customer oriented treatment. Instead of a 3rd bed in the family room, we simply got an additional single room without extra cost. Food in the restaurant was good, the hotel has an old station charme.

Review 52:The mattress on the bed could have been a little more updated.

Review 53:The attitude of the staff was friendly but professional. It was a pleasure to be served by a young staff who were all helpful and obviously enjoying their work. The food was very good, both in quality and quantity. The room was pleasantly warm, clean and adequately furnished.

Review 54:We payed for breakfast, but it didn't start till 8am on a Monday morning!!!! We had to leave at 7am. Not catered for business people who need to get away. They could have offered a breakfast to go service or at least have cereal out early!

Review 55:Handy for the town

Review 56:Housekeeping - Cleanliness of room and corridor. On complaining at reception I was offered to have the room 'deep cleaned'. The cleaner then removed cobwebs, dusted picture above bed, hoovered, put on a duvet cover, none on bed on arrival, and sprayed bleach around seals in shower cubicle which were black. This removed most of it but shower tray still left dirty ie small anti slip squares needing a good scrub. Cupboard wardrobe still not hoovered. The room was in a very tired state and was not worth the money. Beer garden also needing swept and bins emptied.

Review 57:Food in general was very good. Compliments to the chef.

Review 58:Neil at reception was very welcoming & answered all the questions we had about the location and places that we needed to go to (church & nearby hotel for wedding reception). Secure car park & 24 hour access were both perfect for us too.

Review 59:Decor could do with updating, couldn't move for really creaky floor boards, wifi reception terrible. The creepy 'little boy' mannequin needs removed from the bottom of the hotel staircase, And the receptionist was a bit torn faced.

Review 60:Good location, rooms clean and nicely laid out, lovely setting. Food really nice (had hotel and pub food).

Review 61:Nothing
