Reviews for Pier View Self Catering Luxury Apartments
Review 1:The only draw back was no breakfast considering the price went up since last year so having to spend more money on breakfast outside was a bit costly
Review 2:Been to this hotel before and stayed in the same apartment the manager was very polite and helpful the suite was clean and comfortable and well equipped for the family and the location was excellent
Review 3:The apartments are cozy! The kitchen is set up to look after a couple, not a family (we stayed in the basement flat and then moved to the top floor flat). The dishwasher and fridge couldn't be opened while the kitchen door was open which made cooking for 4 really hard (and warm) work. We didn't think much of Southend - but the apartments were lovely (as long as there aren't too many of you!)
Review 4:The apartments are beautifully done with a modern set up, with blue tooth sound system, USB charge points and wifi. The owner really cares about your experience and really went out of his way to make our stay as well as the kids stay great.
Review 5:Loved our second stay at Pier view , the boys love staying there. Owners friendly and let you get on with your stay, really friendly and accommodating . We love pier view apartment .
Review 6:There was nothing at all wrong with the apartment, we were just not too keen on Southend...it was full of stag and hen do's, and was pretty noisy on the Friday and Saturday night.
Review 7:Great little apartment in a great location (if you like Southend). The family who run it were helpful and friendly, and the facilities were good.
Review 8:Tiniest thing - shower was a wee bit feeble, but hey?!
Review 9:Very well appointed indeed. Excellent position. Ed (the owner) very helpful. Comfortable. Lovely views. Thoughtful arrival pack (ice in the freezer would be a good addition ) All round: extremely good. Shall definitely stay there again if in Southend or nearby
Review 10:nothing!!!!
Review 11:The quality of the rooms was amazing, everything was luxurious and well maintained. The hosts were so helpful and welcoming, we felt like it was our home for 4 days, and we will definitely be going back again!
Review 12:Not a lot to dislike..... Probably a nice full English brekky would have put the icing on the cake!
Review 13:Was just a nice pleasant stay ... Very nice people running it... 10/10
Review 14:Lack of free parking but that is what you expect in a town centre location. Good parking nearby, £1.50 per hour until 6pm.
Review 15:Location. Fantastic staff. Comfort and views.
Review 16:I had a fantastic time here, everything was spot on. We even slept in and missed breakfast but the owner prepared everything out for us again with no trouble at all.. such a gorgeous place you have and such nice owners, nothing was to much trouble, will be returning again xxx
Review 17:There was an alarm issue at 3am. Not the hotels problem but a guests. Issue was dealt with by the management to my satisfaction and we will return to this charming hotel.
Review 18:The room although smaller than expected was furnished well with lovely decor, crisp clean linen and very clean and tidy. The continental breakfast was varied for it to be a nice change from a traditional cooked breakfast.
Review 19:NOTHING!
Review 20:All the staff very welcoming and helpful. I had been able to have an email 'conversation' with Ed and the team prior to confirming my booking (from Australia) which was helpful in answering a couple of questions I had. I opted to stay in the Cliff Top room which although small had everything I needed for my 4 day stay and was excellent value. Loved the sea-front view and fresh air. Position of Pier View extremely convenient, so close to shops, train and bus services for reaching other places. Buffet breakfast with lots of fresh fruit was delicious! Thank you for a lovely stay.
Review 21:Nothing.
Review 22:Hotel is about 6 minutes from the station and very close to the high street and pier. Quiet Location, I got both good night's and good days of sleep (I had to work a night shift). Staff were so friendly and gave excellent advice on where to eat.
Review 23:None
Review 24:Very friendly staff/owners They really spoiled our 7 year old as it was her birthday, they did go the extra mile Breakfast was great, room was excellent. I will be back, highly recommended
Review 25:Parking charges not the guest house falt but a sign of the times
Review 26:Room was clean. Location very good. Breakfast excellent I would definitely choose this place again!
Review 27:The room we were given could not have been a true reflection on the establishment as a whole. Our room and en-suite were cramped beyond belief and must border on the minimum legal requirement.
Review 28:Terrific breakfast and superb location
Review 29:Found ourselves in need of a nights accomodation in Southend, and decided to try something different from the usual. Found the Pier View, and am very glad we did. Room was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and property is located very centrally. We were welcomed on arrival by a very pleasant young lady. Not good with names but I think she was the proprietor and she very kindly gave us a choice of rooms . After a very good night's sleep we had a lovely breakfast, prepared for us by a very pleasant and friendly guy, I think he may have been called Dave, but I could be wrong! Anyway, all in all a very enjoyable stay in a lovely property, with very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend this establishment.
Review 30:Loved the location near the shops. I stayed in the top room and had my own bathroom. Had to climb steep stairs so not suitable for people who are unstable on feet. Feels like a home...cozy, not like a big busy Hotel chain.
Review 31:Made to feel very welcome, very accommodating. Visited with my mother who really enjoyed her stay also. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, a great variety to choose from. Will definitely stay again.
Review 32:Nothing but a suggestion - a black-out blind would have been helpful
Review 33:Right on the cliffs, beautiful building, healthy and hearty breakfast and lovely people running it - Ed & Barbara
Review 34:My room was beautifully decorated overlooking the pier and sea. The continental breakfast was very nice, the staff were friendly and helpful and ther were no problems with the free wifi. Great location, within easy walking distance of the high street, the train station, the pier and Cliffs Pavillion.
Review 35:Absolutely nothing
Review 36:Friendly efficient service Continental breakfast excellent Fruit salad was high class Owner Ed very nice Rooms all beautiful Both rooms My wife loved everything about it Position on top of the hill gave fantastic view of front and 'pier' Would give it 5 stars Tom and Alice (From China)
Review 37:Noises all through the night and bed and room to small.should really get a cooked breakfast for the money you pay.
Review 38:The location was excellent the b&b was very bright and smelt clean.
Review 39:Unfortunately, there is not free or private parking.
Review 40:Absolutely wonderful hospitality, nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic location for shopping and the sea front. Lovely decor and lots of little surprises and personal touches which made my stay even more relaxing and comfortable.
Review 41:Parking a bit of a pain but various solutions available.
Review 42:Fabulous accommodation, could not have been more helpful. Got upgraded and even a fiver for parking. Well organised and everything thought through. Breakfast highest quality, didn't need a fry up as the local restaurants offered plenty of fried food! This guy has it nailed!
Review 43:we were there with our grandson aged 4yrs & nothing was a problem as everyone was very helpful, we made a mistake in asking for an extra bed in the room this was not needed & was taken away when we asked.
Review 44:We loved the décor of the Princess Caroline room with its original features and tasteful furnishings. Barbara bent over backwards to be helpful, for instance storing our bags for a couple of hours after check-out.
Review 45:Nothing as all was great
Review 46:I loved how friendly and welcoming it was and how close we were to the beach and high etc basically a great first holiday for my daughter so thank you.
Review 47:Saying goodbye
Review 48:The atmosphere was wonderful very laid back and comfortable. Very friendly staff and proprietor's especially Barbra so kind and helpful nothing was to much will definitely stay again I had the Caroline suite a very special room the boys had the retreat twin both very comfy breakfast was delicious and fresh.
Review 49:the breakfast was good considering it was a continental breakfastpersonally i prefer a full english
Review 50:friendly staff.also nice and close to seafront and town centre
Review 51:only downfall was parking and cost of it
Review 52:This was one of the better BB during a 5 week trip. Ed and staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Room lovely only downfall was parking and cost of it
Review 53:The only thing really was on one night, we had slightly noisy neighbours and noise travels in an old Georgian house, but that can hardly be helped. It was only one night anyway and everything else was absolutely perfect!
Review 54:From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the owners were nothing but accommodating and helpful. We always seemed to be bothering them for small things like ironing boards, hairdryers and things, but nothing was too much trouble. Anything we wanted was done in a few seconds. The room was gorgeous, we stayed in the Sir William Heygate room and it was so comfy and there was more than enough room for 2 people. It had everything we needed including some lovely champagne truffles on arrival. They also held our bags hours after we checked out so we could have another full day without worrying. I could also put some money in the safe which was very helpful. The room was always spotless and I loved the fact we each had our own wardrobe. The breakfast was lovely too, there was always fresh bread and pastries and a lovely selection of fruit and cold meats. They also waited for us to finish even though most of the time we finished past the end of breakfast. They were also very chatty if we saw them and always asked us if we had a nice day, which was a lovely touch. Barbara and Ed made us feel like we were at home or staying round an old friends house we felt so relaxed and at home. We never wanted to leave! There was also lots of information about what to do around southend in the room and around the hotel. We loved every part of our holiday, but we always loved coming back to our room after a busy day, a wonderful visit. We will definitely go there again!
Review 55:I never had better hosts. You can ask any question and you get very qualified answers and it does not matter which subject you ask. They are very polite and when talking during breakfast especially I had the impression of being not only a guest but a member of the family. I have liked The Retreat that is the name of a room on the top floor. Everything fits to each other. I am sorry that I can not score more than 10 points.
Review 56:Handy location and everything we needed in the flat. Clean and tidy and a lot quieter than we may have thought when we arrived.
Review 57:Cost. The accommodation was comfortable but I wouldn't say it was luxury
Review 58:Location

Review 98:Everything wonderful staff spotless clean . Nothing to much trouble . Great place to stay .
Review 99:Friendly welcome from Ed, comfortable room and lovely coffee with breakfast. Couldn't ask for more.
Review 100:I would recommend a small hand bar in the showers. It gives added security for the elderly and although the shower had a 'non-slip' floor mine was quite slippery
Review 101:The friendliness and courtesy of the staff. I found everything above the usual standard of B&Bs
Review 102:sometimes the wifi drops out if staying on the top floor but was invited to sit in the breakfast room on a lower floor if I wanted to work.
Review 103:lovely, spacious light rooms. very comfortable and clean. Generous buffet style continental breakfast and friendly staff. I stay here every two months on my visit to Southend and couldn't be happier here.
Review 104:Rooms are decorated to an excellent standard and the service both on arrival and at breakfast was amazing and very easy and simple checkout. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
Review 105:The washbasin in the bathroom was a little bit tiny, and the shower took ages to get hot. Also, was kind of hoping for some cooked breakfast options but they weren't offered.
Review 106:Location was great, with free overnight parking on the street outside. Room was comfortable and clean and I liked the slightly wonky floorboards which gave the place an authentic feel.
Review 107:There was nothing that I didn't like.
Review 108:Lovely clean bright room, very good breakfast, lots of choice. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Location very good for amenities.
Review 109:It had a real family feel, especially because staff were very friendly. The hotel was quiet and very well placed to get to the high street and the pier.
Review 110:The night manager was very helpful and friendly as was the owner when we met him in the morning. We will definitely use Pier View again and recommend to friends.
Review 111:Myself, my 6 year old daughter and my friend stayed here in the Lord Nelson Suite for 2 nights. I have never before stayed in a B&B, I have very high standards when it comes to accommodation and would never expect a B&B to be able to meet them. But our stay was lovely! I can’t fault a single thing. David welcomed us professionally and kindly when we arrived. He went through all aspects of the property clearly and thoroughly to ensure we had no questions. I would describe the suite as exquisite, spacious, extremely clean, well equipped and perfect for us with its own character! The first thing we noticed was a kind note welcoming us, Guylian Chocolates and a Hello Kitty chocolate lolly, very sweet gesture. The double bed in the main bedroom was extremely comfy (a firm mattress to my liking!), a variety of pillows, plenty of storage for our belongings and a TV with Freeview. The living room was great. TV with Freeview, PlayStation 2, plenty of DVDs and games, microwave, kitchen sink, utensils, tea making facilities and something which isn’t mentioned in their listing – a fridge! Which was a god send! The sofa bed was also comfy and very easy to set up / put away. The bathroom was lovely, with a very deep big bath! All toiletries and towels supplied. Breakfast was incredible! The choice was amazing and the quality of fresh food was surprising. Of course it was a buffet style where you can eat as much as you like, which we took full advantage of. There is also a computer just outside the door to the breakfast room which my daughter took to playing on whilst my friend and I stuffed our tummies! Ed and Barb (owners) greeted us on Saturday morning and were extremely welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them, even when I forgot my iPhone charger Barb came to my rescue! The Pier View is located at the Adventure Island end of Southend seafront and is literally a 2minute walk downhill to the seafront (don’t worry, there is a lift for the way back!).
Review 112:A little cramped in the shower/toilet - hardly a major problem, although may be more of an issue if there are 2 people or if you are a larger person. Only continental breakfast option available.
Review 113:Excellent location, really friendly owners, comfortable room and bed, great service. Close to the seafront, pier, pubs and shopping. Car parking available close to the hotel.
Review 114:Nothing to dislike whatsoever.
Review 115:This is a gem of a place. Lovely old building which has been decorated tastefully whilst keeping the original charm. Superbly clean and welcoming.
Review 116:really lovely spotless room with period features and very comfy bed, wonderful continental breakfast served by a lovely guy and really warm welcome from the owners, will definitely stay again! xxx
Review 117:I would have proffered a traditional English breakfast. However the continental breakfast available was still very good.
Review 118:The location was fantastic and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I booked this venue on the spur of the moment and was not really expecting anything fantastic. Fantastic is what I got.
Review 119:Car parking was difficult but street parking, a parking lot and a multi-story car park were within short walking distance.
Review 120:Smart, clean & comfortable. Centrally located in interesting & historic parade. Room ("Prince Regent") was small, but everything we needed was there. The bed was a little too firm for personal taste but I slept well. The breakfast was nicely done with fresh fruit, croissant etc. A lovely place to stay.
