Reviews for Porto Matina

Review 1:Variety of the food for breakfast was not very good ,milk was diluted with water.Juice as well ,after my reaction was better. The cook I should say that he need to change his profession. He did not bоther to put spices into the food .Staff in the restaurant was not very helpful.

Review 2:The location ,Sea view was great from the terrace ,comfy room .The receptionist (Giannis )was great , helpful and professional. Pine trees around the Hotel , great fresh air .

Review 3:No wi fi in the rooms; the signal is very low and couldn't`t get connection inside the room. The stuff didn`t allow the guest to eat on the tables near to the water even there was no people. The owner of the hotel doesn`t want the guest with HB to sit there. ... Also there are few channels on the TV and they are Greek and Russian. No English, no Bulgarian TV...

Review 4:It was very clean, the receptionist was friendly. The garden is beautiful.

Review 5:1) Too much people without eating manners from Eastern Europe. 2) Too less dishes available. 3) WLAN is low and slow (but its ok - we are at holidays)

Review 6:1) Very friendly and competent Reception. 2) Good local greek dinner, lovely cooked with several Vegetable and not too much meat in dayli chanching combination. 3) Good roomcleaning. 4) Hotel an quiet position

Review 7:The beach of the hotel is poor: very narrow and with rocks. Consider going elsewhere for a nice beach. The room facilities and cleanliness were almost OK for 2 stars. The tavern / restaurant is bad: the staff is poor, unmotivated, improperly dressed and behaving like herding cattle. The exaggerated budget cuts are obvious: awfully old cutlery, bad dishes, bad furniture, poor cleanliness. Very bad breakfast: diluted milk, diluted juice, awful coffee, awful salami (only one kind in 9 days), awful omelet (how on Earth one can make a bad omelet? - well, they can), but mostly hard boiled eggs not even washed from the hen's pooh (!), ran out of butter on day 1, the following 8 days only margarine of poorest quality. Except for fresh cheese, olives and some jam and honey - really nothing acceptable to eat in the morning. I was stubborn and tried every day - the rest of the family gave up after the first days. Dinners were almost OK in general, but with failures on a few courses and the same annoying lack of hygiene. Briefly, our expectations (at the level of the price and declared standard) were not met, mostly due to the food. Hygiene and basic products of decent quality are a must at any star(s) level.

Review 8:The 2-bedroom apartment was OK: spacious rooms, nice terrace to the garden. The garden itself was very nice. The host / receptionist was kind and willing to help.

Review 9:Wi-fi only at reception, no variety of meals breakfast and dinner, both tv-ies went out of order, no shampoo ang shower gel in the bathroom.

Review 10:Close to sea, polite and diligent staff, beautiful garden well maintained, restaurant positioned with wiev of the sea during meals, our appartement was cleaned every day.

Review 11:The hotel beach is very bad. But, you can find nice beach with a cafe named Thalassa 200m far from the hotel, with the showers, sunbeds, etc. Poor wi-fi like everywhere in Halkidiki, but it was not such a problem for us.

Review 12:The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had a huge bed. Every room has a balcony with a seaview. The food was great, very tasty and various.

Review 13:Beautiful rooms and excellent food. Staff are exceptionally personable. Beach is beautiful. I like the fact that it is run by a family who are always around and want to ensure your stay could not be any better. We will 100% be returning and hopefully very soon. Thank you.

Review 14:Area around hotel, parking place could be managed little bit better, but this is also the city and community problem I think.

Review 15:Very close to the sea, private beach, most wonderful service and kind stuff, nice looking view, garden and restaurant location under pleasant shade, pet's friendly welcome.

Review 16:They cleaned room every third day, towels and sheets were changed every third day. Towels, even though clean, smelled bad. Old furniture, curtains were full of dust, so all room smelled dusty. There was no screen between balconies. A little bit strange women working on the reception.

Review 17:Excellent food, delicious and various! Good location, near pine forest and seaside. Also, not far from market and very good restaurants. Nice and maintained yard.

Review 18:Food can be better, with fresher ingrediants. Brace yourself if you are vegetarian.

Review 19:Good accommodation, good location, spacy rooms, and good facilities. Very close to beach.

Review 20:A pool would make it perfect :) Nothing negative, really

Review 21:Perfect location in Metamorfosi, very specious apartments with small yards in front of them, very polite and helpful personnel. The food was tasty, and though limited in choice (2-3 different kinds main meals on dinner), the hotel did try to introduce variety - different meals every day. Highly recommended for relaxing vacation.

Review 22:All other facilities and hospitality are very poor and do not meet our expectation. Relationship with guests is at very low level. Other hotels in vicinity are having much better for the same price!

Review 23:Location is good. Excellent garden.

Review 24:Best position in Metomorfosi. Nice and quiet place, close to beach. Meals were tasty. All rooms has sea view .Best money-value. Highly recomended for family with kids.We will come again next year, for sure.

Review 25:plastic tables in the dining room, monotonous breakfast.

Review 26:Location is very good . The service is standard with a very good dinner, but the averrage breakfast. The rooms are large and cleaned daily.

Review 27:Food is not as good as in the past. They have moved the "chef" to the other hotel In the past HP was breakfast and lunch and now was breakfast and dinner

Review 28:Location on the beach, room with sea view, quiet and they have renovated the rooms Beach is proper for small children

Review 29:For many years now I use a booking. com and so far I have had only positive experiences. Staying at Porto Matina is a real disappointment triggered concern about the booking offer. com. I hope that this exception therefore I will in the future use the services booking.com The offer displayed on the site booking. com does not match the room in which we are located on the first evening. The room next to it was dirty, with squares using the toilet cup, and the bathtub were the remnants of fine sand after showering. On our intervenbciju room partially brought in a reasonable condition. Since we arrived in the evening and booked into paid forward, we were forced to spend the night at Porto Matina. Next day we uninhabitable rooms replaced by the corresponding offer on the website booking. com. The food was very tasty but it happened that there is not enough crockery and cutlery during dinner. Cutlery that was added was wet and sometimes insufficiently clear. The staff was friendly, but it could not compensate for flawed first day and occasional lapses in hygiene during their stay. The only bright spot was the lady who works at the hotel and that was at all possible ways trying to achieve the best image of the hotel. We only experienced it as completely dedicated to her work. These are the reasons for which I would never recommend this hotel.

Review 30:Good location of the hotel and very professional and dedicated work of the little missus who works at the front desk

Review 31:Averrage breakfast. Poor wi-fi signal. Strange smell from the clean towels. No separation between the shower and the rest of the toilet.

Review 32:The dinner was excelent: a soup, 5 types of main meal, a salad and a dessert. The hotel is very close the beach. Big room, with medium size fridge, air conditioner, a bar and a small TV. Very nice view at the sea from the terrace.

Review 33:Great setting and service, staff very friendly and accommodating. Definitely going back next year!

Review 34:The food is disgusting! Very poor quality! No cutlery! Practically does not get meal! do not go there

Review 35:The breakfast and dinner were excellent and the sea view was perfect.

Review 36:The hotel and the staff was wonderful, the chef, Tolis was very good.

Review 37:- Good food (a lot of food, Greek specialties) - Close to the beach - Friendly staff - Clean rooms - Wonderful garden - Great terrace

Review 38:Nice hotel in a nice village. Good food, nice people around... If you are looking for place for relax, this is your place.

Review 39:The food.

Review 40:Location,friendly stuff.

Review 41:The parking. There isn't real parking place/space. It is just an empty spot across the street.

Review 42:We were surprised how nice place it is! The room was very big and spacious, facing the sea. We had booked the hotel with half-board and we could choose between breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner. We had the second option, but if the dinner was so great, I can't imagine what they offer for lunch! You could choose between many varieties of food. There is a private beach just in front of the hotel, but it is sometimes crowded. There is a beach also on the left side from the hotel's beach which is also nice. The hotel and what it offers is definitely worth for the money!

Review 43:Big, clean room, facing the see. The chef (cook) is the best ever. We have enjoyed the HP (breakfast and lunch), dinner in town. Water was great, also for our 6 months son. I would recommend it anytime

Review 44:problem with the person who manage the beach

Review 45:sea weal, distance to the sea, excellent cooking food in the afternoon, the room was big with all the facilities even the furniture was very old ( normally for 2 or 3 stars Greece hotels).

Review 46:We have to pay for sunbeds on the beach bar. No chance to use ourown.

Review 47:I like the location of the hotel. The staff was very very friendly and kind. Room was confortable and clean. Very delicious food.

Review 48:- We booked 1 bedroom apartment (4 pers. Max), and because we had a child traveling with us I confirmed booking with the hotel a week before our arrival. I was assured everything was ok, but upon arrival we were notified that there is some problem and were offered 2 separate 3 bed rooms. Once we declined we were given the apartment???- Apartment had 6 beds inside of 4 even though it was also rated 4 pers. max??? - Apartment had a "kitchen" - a sink, a fridge and a unit with two heating plates. Nothing else. No kitchenware or even a place where you could put your own utensils. This was not a problem for us since we didn't plan on using it much, but still... - First time we started the water on the kitchen sink tap, it felt like water is struggling to get out and then a thumb sized cockroach fell out the tap. That said, being on the ground floor I expected some insects and bugs but there were surprisingly few, and we didn't have any other disgusting experiences during our stay. - single beds are really narrow. I never saw a bed that narrow in a hotel in any price range. For us it was not really a problem since we were able to put couple of them together, but I can see it becoming a problem for someone else. - Greek bathroom - no shower curtain or any means to contain the water where it should be. No hot water when everyone returns from the beach. - We had half board and it is a complete waste of money. Food is scarce, and though it is eatable, the taste is not there. It looks like the compilation of the cheapest ingredients you can find. Serving window for diner is 1h only, for breakfast it is 1.5h so somehow it feels you are always in the rush to finish before they start removing the trays, especially if you arrived a bit later. Not really a holiday experience at all.

Review 49:Stayed on the ground floor in the "G" apartment next toreception. Small private yard in front was nice. Rooms were decentenough, though some extra beds were present. Hotel is just on the beach, though the beach itself is not really worth mentioning compared to whatyou can find elsewhere in Sithonia. The hotel has a nice garden, though not too much shade in it or a place to sit. It's more of a walk through garden.

Review 50:The food should be more tasty

Review 51:Great accomodation with spasious rooms. From the garden you are directly on the sandy beach with sun beds from the beach bar. The quantity of meal is good. The best of everiting are peen trees just above the beach.

Review 52:The beach is a mix of pebbles and sand, far from best in halkidiki. Waves bring in dirt and stones at times, entry into water is not the most comfortable due to stones. These are, however, things we learned to live with during our stay and were easily compensated by the friendly service and great value hard to find elsewhere in halkidiki as well as the excellent beachfront location.

Review 53:the half-board option in PortoMatina is a great value for money, especially for families with young kids. The rooms are adequate and clean, all with views of the sea, the location is probably the best in all of Metamorfosi, just steps from the beach. Food is homecooked and tasty (particularly the dinner) both meals are buffet style. There is a small playground for kids, a bar which serves snacks and drinks which you can also enjoy by the beach. Sunbeds+umbrellas cost 2EUR per sunbed or free if you order something. Guests are mostly families with young children (a few older couples here and there) which is perfectly understandable given that metamorfosi tends to be a destination for families (don't expect much of a nightlife.)

Review 54:We stayed in the period from 01.06 to 12.06 2013 in two double rooms. In general we were pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the hosts, cleanliness, fantastic food (All praise to the chef) and of course the fantastic sea view. It's definitely fantastic price / quality ratio .In our case, we got more than we paid. Porto Matina is definitely above declared a two star hotel.

Review 55:The curtain in the room was full with dust and smell very bad. The food was always the same.

Review 56:Quiet location, super seawiew,

Review 57:poor internet connection, small number of sunbeds on the hotel beach.Larger prices than last year.

Review 58:comfortable room,sea view,location ,friendly stuff,

Review 59:Mosquitoes. Too many in the room we can't sleep at all. There is not a web against those insects.

Review 60:The food was very good.
