Reviews for Station Inn
Review 1:Breakfast had surcharge for most options on menu and no childrens menu available. Felt it was overpriced for what was on offer. Bathroom had very little shelf space for toiletries etc and bedroom had 3 out of 4 light bulbs fused. Also noise travelled through from other rooms.
Review 2:Good parking, spacious family room, good location.
Review 3:We missed the personal touch from the staff. Apart from the young lady who showed us to our room there were no pleasantries exchanged whatsoever.
Review 4:Rooms are in an annexe of the pub so was convenient for coming & going, no need to pass through the pub. Enjoyed a good evening meal & breakfast was adequate.
Review 5:N/A
Review 6:Really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were extremely professional and welcoming which gave a very homely experience, the beds were comfy and the room very clean and of a good size.
Review 7:Breakfast is only served between 8am - 9am. This is too early for people on vacation.
Review 8:The rooms were spacious and comfortable. There was a large flat screen TV
Review 9:Nothing.
Review 10:The choice of evening meal was quite unexpected but I really enjoyed, this was a lovely hotel to stay at and would do so again if in the area.
Review 11:One member of staff was quite rude but that was in the dining area for the evening meal on the whole the staff were great.
Review 12:The rooms were great very spacious and very comfy, The breakfast was awesome a real country breakfast with fresh quality ingredients.
Review 13:The focus is on the pub. The inn comes in a distant second. Amusements for children outside. Pet alpacas.
Review 14:Room was spacious, clean and on 2nd floor. One of 5 rooms.
Review 15:The crazy golf was poor and you had to pay for it! Flies in the bedroom.
Review 16:Big room comfortable bed.Good breakfast.Fantastic location and adventure playground and we loved the Alpacas.Excellent.
Review 17:The staff at Station Inn were friendly and very accommodating. The meals were excellent. The room was amazing and I would recommend this place to everybody. Will definitely be staying here again.
Review 18:Staff are all so friendly and made our stay wonderful, great food at night nice atmosphere and the lovely lady at breakfast was fantastic made us feel very welcome !! Look forward to staying again soon.
Review 19:The bedroom was not cleaned properly, bed not made, cups not washed and the bathroom looked as if it hadn't been touched at all.
Review 20:The location, food and staff
Review 21:No fruit option for Brekfast . Even tinned would have been better than nothing .
Review 22:Lovely large room for family of four. Food was lovely and play park was great for kids. The older lady Brekfast waitress was lovely .
Review 23:The restauraunt food is typical downmarket pub standard and could do with improvement. The cheesy garlic bread with my creamy lasagne was like armour plate. Breakfast is OK. Many of the pub regulars are tradesmen in dirty work clothes.
Review 24:Excellent selection of ales. Good children's play area with added herd of alpacas and a few chickens which were a big hit. Wi-Fi in rooms was excellent.
Review 25:This is an atmospheric "pub with rooms" and typically English in a great location especially if you come by train. The food is good the beer is good and the staff friendly. Very close to Kendal which is a delight; I highly recommend it.
Review 26:Low lying location of room, can smell people's smoking easily. A hill up from Oxen railway station, think carefully if you have heavy luggages. Old furniture. Two water taplets with only the hottest & coldest water. One receptionist also busy with bar business(but very nice person)
Review 27:Friendly hotel owner. Easy access to food with reasonable price.
Review 28:Shower was poor but they were waiting for a new pump to fix it
Review 29:We had a lovely stay here, room was clean with daily maid service, great location to explore from, staff were friendly, good choice for breakfast which was great, lovely play area if you have young children
Review 30:Upstairs bedroom had no black out blinds over sky lights. So as soon as the sun was up the room was as bright as anything making it difficult to sleep
Review 31:Playground and animals
Review 32:No fruit provided for breakfast; if cooked breakfast not required not much else, only cereal. Lighting in bedroom was poor but otherwise room was good.
Review 33:It was conveniently situated for the purpose of my visit to the area.
Review 34:We had a very friendly welcome Our room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space. We had a delicious evening meal and a great Fellwalkers breakfast. I would stay here again .
Review 35:Noise from road and squeaky floorboards when people in room above moved around. Some things not as clean as they could have been (tea /coffee tray) Staff a little grumpy!
Review 36:Large family room, plenty of space for everyone.
Review 37:Nothing really to complain about - My room was next to a reasonably busy local road and there was some traffic noise during the morning "rush hour" but otherwise it was quiet
Review 38:Busy friendly pub (with some good real beers) Large bedroom (in separate building) Good food (a better standard than the average pub)
Review 39:The staff are very accommodating, friendly and happy to help in any way that they can. They've made my first line business trip easy to enjoy. The resident hen is also rather friendly and charismatic-fabulous stuff!
Review 40:The floors in the upstairs rooms are quite thin and if you are in a downstairs room as we were it can be quite noisy, however our fellow guests were very understanding after we mentioned it to the manager...not a big problem.
Review 41:Friendly staff,good atmosphere,good food and clean rooms........and Alpacas
Review 42:The friendliness of the Staff as we arrived and shown to our room which was absolutely spotless. The atmosphere of the Station Inn was great typical local. We went for walk locally and our return we booked for our Tea in the Conservatory, the meal was outstanding-very impressive. The breakfast next morning was the same excellent quality. Would definitely come back again as it was a great base.
Review 43:Checked menu online and saw a specials board was available, not impressed, maybe tried to be a bit to "fine dining" instead of simple fare. A little too pricey.
Review 44:Fantastic room, spacious and well appointed, superb surroundings and outdoor activities. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 45:Beautiful large airy room very clean it was like going back in time the noise of a dart board being used the shuffling of dominoes, being an ex landlord I like to think I know my beer and it was spot on. You pay for what you get and the evening meal and the breakfast was of a superior quality and what made the whole experience even more enjoyable was the friendliness of all the staff THANKYOU and WELL DONE
Review 46:The Inn is up a fairly steep hill - not ideal for those who have trouble on foot. It's also a 30-40 minute walk to Kendal's ASDA. You may struggle if you are used to having close-by corner shops selling cigarettes and the like. The Inn is kind of isolated and shops are a trainride away aside from that Asda.
Review 47:I stayed here with my partner for a miniature getaway 30th December - 2nd January 2014. The suite was large, clean and cosy. The food from the pub downstairs was excellent. As an animal lover I loved that the Inn housed 7 alpacas. There was an outside play area for children and also rooms to accommodate families. The staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive. There is also lots to do in the Lake District. We took a short train to Windermere and had so much to see and do! Great value for money. We will stay again!
Review 48:The Room was absolutely freezing, the bed was uncomfortable with springs digging in us. We got there about tea-time and were hungry, only to be told they werent serving food until 8pm and would have to book. /they were having entertainment on that night and were offered to Buy a ticket to attend for £15.. i was a bit offended as being a guest at their establishment.. we ended up having to get a taxi into town which cost us £9.00, and then had to pay £18 to return.. it ruined my New years Eve and if it hadn't have been so far away from home we wouldn't have stayed. defiantly not worth £110 a night
Review 49:The room above us very noisy, hearing walking and bathroom.
Review 50:Size of room, very clean, staff very friendly and helpful, food both breakfast and also dining in hotel excellent
Review 51:The extractor noise when you put the bathroom light on day or night!!!
Review 52:The size of our room was excellent The menu and quality of food available was very good - all local produce The staff customer service and they met my dietary needs. The location was great for our plans.
Review 53:Room was very comfortable and clean but was very warm during the night. There should have been a facility to have a thin balanket instead of duvet.
Review 54:Facilities and welcome were excellant. Food was very good.
Review 55:Check out time was a bit early as breakfast was between 8-9am and then you had to check out by 10, it felt a bit rushed.
Review 56:The room was lovely, I would like to take my children next time as they cater really well for families. Staff were lovely especially the lady that did the breakfast.
Review 57:We loved the room and the layout that the room gave us each of the beds had space around them. Breakfast was good with good choice and willingness to change the menu to suit requests.
Review 58:Had some difficulty finding because no street address. Not fun for late arrivals. Full English Breakfast was a little skimpy. Very little service at breakfast.
Review 59:Family room was very roomy and comfortable
Review 60:The waitress/cleaner on the second day was very unhelpful. When I asked for the toast with my breakfast instead of before, she said she couldn't juggle that much. It would either have to be before or after! Same waitress said I couldn't sit downstairs after breakfast to do my emails as she had to finish cleaning by 12 and couldn't leave the rooms unattended. There was no wifi signal in the bedroom. We could feel the springs of the bed through the mattress and none of the bed linen was ironed. I wouldn't stay there again as it was very poor value for money. I would rate it as only 2 star.
Review 61:Nothing
Review 62:Location was excellent - it's just outside of the normal lakes accommodation area and for that reason you don't pay extortionate prices for average standard. This was clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. Food great and local beers very good.
Review 63:Very large room with space to place suitcases on the floor. Bath tub plus shower appreciated. Gigantic King size bed and nice TV. Too bad we payed for a breakfast we could not eat as we had to leave early in the morning before breakfast was served.
Review 64:rooms very clean, but staff forgot to one or two things when cleaning not huge problem but was noticed.
Review 65:last minute booking to take 3 grandkids away rooms great, breakfast hearty good english, friendly hosts very helpful in all ways would stay again.rooms
Review 66:The outside of the accommodation block could do with repainting. The downstairs room felt a bit like being in a basement and you could hear the people walking on the floor above you
Review 67:The staff were excellent and the breakfast was very good. The rooms were clean and spacious.
Review 68:Nothing I disliked at all.
Review 69:I liked everything about the Station Inn. The hotel was well maintained and all areas clean. Good selection of food and drink at reasonable prices. Covered outside smoking area. Outside picnic style tables and benches for warm summer evenings. The alpacas were very cute. Our room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The staff were always helpful. Good traditional cooked breakfast. Adequate car park. Although the hotel is only about a quarter mile from the Oxenholme railway station, it feels very much a country inn, surrounded by fields and woodland.
Review 70:being woken at 2AM by a night rally held by local car club, we felt that notices should have been put in each room, so that we could have watched
Review 71:lovely surroundings, helpful staff, clean rooms, well cooked breakfast.
Review 72:The steep 500m walk up a hill from Oxenholme Train Station, especially in the rain and with 2 heavy bags. The bed was a little too soft and springy for my liking.
Review 73:The friendly reception immediately put me at ease. Check In at the pub's bar counter is different but with warm friendly staff, it was miles better than many high end hotel receptions that I have been to. Breakfast was great, my room was big. A great B&B if you are arriving late by train and need a good night's sleep instead of having to deal with taxi into Kendal or Windermere.
Review 74:The lady at breakfast had a unhappy look.(Maybe she's racist cos others didn't have the prob)The rooms are full of enormous flies.Noisy beds
Review 75:Very near the train station, about 500 metres up the little hill. And the farm with Alpacas hehe
Review 76:Room not the cleanist and could do with re decorating
