Reviews for Shinagawa Prince Hotel
Review 1:No flexibility in early check in or late check out. Payment is required. Counter staff is not friendly. View of Tokyo tower restricted from main tower and you may not see it if you are staying on the other side of the main tower. Long q at baggage area if you wan to leave your baggage with them before check in and after check out.
Review 2:Location - good if you are traveling to other areas via Shinkansen. Located jus opp the shinagawa station. If jus Tokyo area, might be a better idea to stay in shinjuku.
Review 3:Rooms are starting to look a little tired, and be careful about pre authorisations on your credit card, they will charge again and you will have to wait for the preauthorisation to clear.
Review 4:Location
Review 5:Lobby check in staff looked kinda of unhappy when my friends and I checkin 4 rooms at the same time. But still he made sure that we got sorted out within shortest time, and with efficiency.
Review 6:Good location to main train station.
Review 7:No department stores nor shops around the hotel could we visit; instead, there is only one game centre and some restaurants.
Review 8:The staff is nice and able to communicate in English.
Review 9:The room is a bit small when compare to other hotel nearby(Keikyu Ex). It's overpriced for this kind of accomodation among with long queue when checking in
Review 10:1. Hotel staff very nice and helpful. 2. Room is very good with all facilities in room, very clean and our room view able to see Tokyo Tower, great! 3. Location is very convenience, surrounding with restaurant, shopping and travel connecting.
Review 11:We have stayed here many times and it never fails to please. The hotel offers comfortable, compact well designed rooms but the location of the hotel adjacent to Shinagawa station is what makes it a favourite. We choose to stay in the Annex
Review 12:Longer line when checking in but at the end went quite fast because of Japanese efficiency
Review 13:Good location next to Shinagawa station with the bulletrains and trainconnections to both Haneda and Narita airports
Review 14:Low English speaking, no help for sightseeing around the hotel.... They want to to stay in the hotel :(((
Review 15:A lot of things to do in the hotel , love it.
Review 16:The room was a little smaller than I expected and cramp. There were no basic amenities like complimentary bottled water.
Review 17:The location and cleanliness of the hotel. Staff were friendly enough.
Review 18:Wish we could've stayed longer.
Review 19:Perfect location! Located right across the street from Shinagawa station! Loved the staff and hotel. 7 eleven located on hotel property. Aquarium was awesome! Would definitely go back again!
Review 20:Rooms too small, refurbishement required !! , bathroom is like a small plastic storage compartment
Review 21:Location is ok, lots of restaurant and bar and close to the subway
Review 22:Very convenient location across from Shinagawa Station, a transportation hub. Also a drop-off & pick-up hotel for the airport limousine bus. Small but efficient room; I particularly like the locking closet, little refrigerator and "green" option.
Review 23:Great location near Shinagawa Station. Plenty enough nearby shopping for incidentals and gifts. Great restaurant, though sometimes crowded. This was about my third or fourth visit here.
Review 24:The rooms are half the size they were 10 years ago and triple the price. It used to be an amazing deal. Now, you can do the same or better for 1/3-1/2 the price almost anywhere.
Review 25:great location.
Review 26:A minor complaint is that the beds are very firm. That may be a matter of personal choice.
Review 27:The hotel is close to Shinagawa Station which is a major hub for local and Shinkansen rail lines. The small rooms are skilfully designed to maximise the available space.
Review 28:The grumpy & unhelpful staff!great views!
Review 29:There was one young women who spoke English & was so helpful she was a delight! The rest of your staff were stiff & not very helpful & the men not out going at all . You need more English speaking people to help as Tokyo is very big, busy & overwelming!
Review 30:Very small room and very old. There is hole in our room, not worth the money spent. Luckily we stayed only one night before catching flight back to US. Will recommend the Southern terrace tower near Shinjuku station instead. If you have to catch early flight and doesn't want to stay near airport.
Review 31:Close to Shinagawa train station
Review 32:The room is functional but a little outdated for the price especially the bathroom. Cant really have control of the a/c so it can get a little stuffy if your used to a colder room.
Review 33:The location was great and the bilingual staff was just as great! theres also a bus service from the hotel to the airport for a small fee.
Review 34:The airport shuttle timing is too limited. With big luggages or more than one piece of baggage, it makes it inconvenient to take the train to the airport. It would have been better if there were more shuttle timings available. There is only one smoking area on the 3rd level of the hotel which is closed after certain hours. Pillow was too flat.
Review 35:Location was excellent.
Review 36:I could not book the triple room online. It was available when we checked in, but not mentioned online. We had to stay one night in 3 singles in the East Tower.
Review 37:I liked that there was a triple room option for our group of friends.
Review 38:The toilet bowl and the bathroom floor are not very clean. Room guest has no discount to the breakfast.
Review 39:Location is very good. Staff are responsive. Room is spacoous.
Review 40:Using his hotel for so many years, it was satisfying BUT this last booking we had was a bit disappointing because of the room given to us... Was it due to Internet booking ???
Review 41:Checking-in was fast ... Many staff people were available... Considering the location and number of guests that uses this hotel was really great !!!
Review 42:This is my second time staying at the Prince Hotel and i highly recommend it for first time travellers to Tokyo. Comfort, centrally located with fantastic facilities closeby. Will be staying here again.
Review 43:No iron in room (& didn't manage to get one when I asked), too many queues to have breakfast in hotel (but lots of other local options), somewhat expensive.
Review 44:Great location very convenient for station and conference center. Very comfortable rooms.
Review 45:Room was a bit dark and the breakfast lines were long, but certainly not problematic.
Review 46:Location was superb--easily accessible from Narita by the limousine bus and from Haneda by subway. Shinagawa station was a manageable hub for someone not used to using public transportation.
Review 47:Renovations are clearly required, hotel rooms are not appropriate for the high price, other hotels in the area are better and cheaper. Walls were dirty from suitcases hitting the walls over many years, furniture had marks, bathroom was cheaply equipped (e.g. plastic tab). Cover of air-condition was dirty. Vending machine was out of order, the next one 3 floors above was sold out for water. Never again!
Review 48:located close to Shinagawa station
Review 49:Cleanliness of room. Dirty unlined trash cans. Totally hard, uncomfortable bed that felt like you were sleeping on a box spring.
Review 50:Location, location, location. Close proximity to the train station
Review 51:Staff telling me that there is a charge to check in early (arrived at 12.00 and check in is 2pm) and they wanted £23.00!!! Surely the hotel is big enough to have some rooms ready. Rooms are small but thats Japan for you.
Review 52:Great location, close to main train station from airport. Quality of rooms was good.
Review 53:Hard on finding the exact hotel at first because there are more than 3 Prince Hotel around
Review 54:City view is great during night and the location of the hotel is near to most tourist spots!
Review 55:No bad experience
Review 56:Proximity to the station. Restaurants in the vicinity. We sttayed in the main Tower. Good size rooms compared to average Japan Hotels
Review 57:Location not good for general walking about to explore street life and shop in the area, but close to the station to explore Tokyo by metro. Area is the location for many businesses, so for business may be o.k.
Review 58:I stayed many different floors ,Some flour smell of food cooking.Meaning poor ventilation ?some times.Possible from Korean Restrant in first floor.
Review 59:LocationLocation Location
Review 60:Rather shabby room in need of renovation. Bathroom old with a very noisy toilet which was particularly annoying at night. Not much happening at Shinagawa so always had to take the train to somewhere else. Staff were not particularly friendly or helpful.
Review 61:The view from our room on the 35th floor.
Review 62:When I was check out that luggage Station was 2nd floor instead 1st floor. Bus terminal desk told me that right by the Conner.
Review 63:All your stuff was very kind.
Review 64:Cover charges for 39th Floor bar and view over city. Having to wait for a 2pm check-in after early morning arrival at Narita.
Review 65:Location great. Stayed in North Tower, room was tight but adequate. Breakfasts good. Staff very helpful and nothing a problem. Liked the incentive payment for not requiring room servicing
Review 66:Excellent service, prompt attention to all requests, a most beautiful french patisserie on the premises. Of course the location makes moving around Tokyo a breeze. Would stay again.
Review 67:Nothing in particular. The size of the room was small but having been to Tokyo many times, did not come as a surprise
Review 68:The staff, the internet connection and the proximity to the Shinagawa station as well as the hotels commitment to being GREEN
Review 69:The room was in the Annex, which is more the fun area with bowling and other activities. Really not convenient nor appropriate for a business travellervarriving from a long international flight. Annex has a separate reception desk , a long way from the main entrance. Room was gloomy. Not my best experience in Japan
Review 70:I have stayed at this Prince Hotel before and I remember the rooms being much larger. It looks like they did a remodel and cut the size of the rooms in half. Ok for $100, not great for $200. The pool costs extra... (It shouldn't for this price.)
Review 71:The room was nice and clean.
Review 72:A staff at the luggage counter area was extremely rude. She was shouting very loudly at customers who were queuing at luggage counter, for keeping their way clear. She pushed my husband and sister's body without asking, while we were just standing in front of the counter and weren't even blocking the way.
Review 73:our 2 large luggage can't really be opened at the same coz of the space in the room. very strict about checking out late, a charge for every hour past check out time
Review 74:location right in front of the station with lots of options for food
Review 75:It was expensive but then you have to pay a lot more for a hotel room in Tokyo.
Review 76:We were made to feel welcome. The hotel room was very nice and it was in a great location. Easy to catch public transport. There were lots of eating places nearby. We had a fantastic view from our room window.
Review 77:The check-in take it too long. We have to que for 45 minutes. Very un-convenient. They should allow us to do early check-in only for the administration thing like in other hotel we stayed in Japan and can collect the room key after check-in hours in guest relation desk. The bathroom looks too old. Need a renovation.
Review 78:The location and easy access
Review 79:When we need transport to the airport in 3am they couldn't help us. So sad for 4* hotel in Tokyo...
Review 80:Tokyo was amazing and this hotel either... 25min by train to city center...
Review 81:Our only real disappointment was that the swimming pool is payable separately at approximately 1,200 yen, with sunbed 'hire' an additional 1,600 yen! I feel that a hotel of this level and rating should provide these services at no additional charge - it becomes increasingly expensive when travelling as a family and temperatures in the 30's dictate a strong desire to cool off regularly!
Review 82:Fabulous location, generally excellent facilities and friendly, helpful staff.
Review 83:The staff were the most uncaring and impolite I have ever met in Japan -- they were highly untypical and put shame to the name of Japanese service. I will never stay again at a Prince Hotel.
Review 84:Nothing except the location was good.
Review 85:Wifi was free A very large hotel which had numerous facilities including range of restaurants, swimming pools and extraordinarily an aquatic centre with dolphin shows. The hotel was brilliantly located very close to a major station where you could reach anywhere in Tokio and also the rest of Japan
Review 86:We stayed at the premium floor, but the room was extremely small. If you open your luggage on the floor, then there will be literally no space to walk around... however, this is probably pretty standard for most accommodations in Tokyo.
Review 87:Handy location, 3 min walk from Shinagawa station.
Review 88:Too busy, too many people. Hotel needs updating and needs proper cleaning! East tower doesn't seem safe so changed to main tower. East tower is like a backpacker hotel!
Review 89:Good location
Review 90:Room is small and lit only by a long narrow window for a touch of natural light.
Review 91:Convenience of location to station. Swimming Pool and bowling facilities available.
Review 92:Not enough electric charging outputs in the room, refrigerator waaaay to small, loud corridor, smelly yukata, I could follow the nightly conversation of some guy in the neighboring room; very very pricey for what you get - I was expecting more but the hotel obviously taps from the huge influx of Chinese customers. Also, booking.com forecasted a lovely 26C for the area but my weather app said it would be 30C+; on check-in day it was a humid 36C - which is normal for Japan this time of the year, what is this masquerade?
Review 93:The staff was very friendly & the hotel is located very conveniently near Shinagawa station
Review 94:Although we got a premier room which was supposed to be bigger, that room too was a bit small in size.
Review 95:Excellent location to catch the Shinkansen to Nagoya. Many restaurants and bars near by.
Review 96:Awesome location and friendly staffs. I initially booked 4nights but due to unforeseen circumstances, I arrived 1 day late and the staff was kindly refunded 1 night stay. Thank you~!
Review 97:Just fine for the weary travelers.
Review 98:Selected this lodging for ease of access after late arrival from Haneda Airport. It was luxurious and easy to find from the JR station if you walked out, turned left and looked up.
Review 99:There was a difference in my booking dates through Booking.com and myactual dates due to my late night check in.
Review 100:Location can't be beat. The staff are courteous and professional. There is an airport bus that leaves right from the lobby for 31,00 yen(roughly $25).
Review 101:No swimming pool.
Review 102:The staff were friendly. Complimentary breakfast every day we stayed at the hotel. Room amenities (i.e. Toiletries). Clean hotel, clean room, perfect location.
Review 103:Small room. Restrictive policies about eating take out food at the lounge. Not allowed for some reason although drinks were served and breakfast is served at the same location.
Review 104:Lounge access and free breakfast.
Review 105:The room can be a bit small. But the newly renovated room looks nice. Bed is not too comfortable.
Review 106:We love the location and convenience of the hotel. Walking distance to the Shinagawa station with lots of retails around the hotel. Restaurants and fast food are plenty.
Review 107:None. However walk from train station to hotel is not sheltered, so prepare to get wet when it rains.
Review 108:Able to top up Suica cards via a charging machine at the lobby!
Review 109:We were in Tokyo for a family wedding and the groom had booked hair appointments for my wife and daughter in the hotel's salon in advance but when they went there on the morning of the wedding the salon let them down. They were obviously very upset.
Review 110:Good hotel with good facilities and a train station just across the street making it very easy to get around.
Review 111:The rooms in the north tower are to small. not enough room even to store your suitcases. The washrooms are way to small. But that seems to be the standard in moderate type of room .Also the lighting is very poor in the washroom . Hard to see your self taking a shave. !!
Review 112:The location to the station was very handy .
Review 113:Unpleasant smell in the non- smoking single room, old fashioned door lock with cheap looking door (East Tower).
Review 114:Good location, convenient facilities inside the hotel & outside neibourhood and spacious lobby with cheerful atmosphere.
Review 115:Bathroom towels could be a bit bigger and thicker.
Review 116:The location is excellent, plenty of nearby restaurants, hotel is huge but well run, staff very professional. Rooms adequate size, great water pressure in shower.
Review 117:- There is little not to like
Review 118:+ Right next to the Shinagawa Station + Lots of restaurants close to the hotel + Walking distance from the Tokyo Tower + Quiet
Review 119:There were some stains on the blanket. The room was pretty beat up. Appeared to have old cigarette burns in the sink.
Review 120:The hotel was cheap and relatively clean.
Review 121:Japanese room size is somewhat very limiting. Not bery fluent English speaking staff and you can hear the what's happening in the rooms around you !
Review 122:The location is perfect Shinagawa Station is one of the main rail hubs in Tokyo allowing to go anywhere in Tokyo and Japan in general. Shops and restaurants are also close by.
Review 123:Booking.com doesn't tell you that you will be in the East Tower and that the East Tower is ghetto! It must be the oldest tower in the complex, and the rooms are so tiny you have to turn sideways to shower.
Review 124:Nice location. The airport shuttle stops here.
Review 125:At least in the main tower the rooms would need some renovation.
Review 126:Breakfast was plentiful and also western style choices available. Shinagawa station right next to the hotel. Restaurants and shops available next door.
Review 127:Some staffs spoke English but many didn't, even the personnel at Front Office, which was quite troublesome. I had a very small single room in East Tower, the bathroom was humide, black moisture stains on door sill, smelled bad. Hotel description didn't mention of free WiFi connection and I had rented Pocket WiFi at arrival at Narita. Also no mention that we could fill the thermos with hot water in the hall in front of rooms, so I had brought my small travel kettle.......
Review 128:Fine location, just in front of Shinagawa railway station, good WiFi connection, mattress rather comfortable, not hard as in other hotels
Review 129:This hotel ticks all the boxes for me - location is great, easy access to Shinagawa station, helpful staff, nice program now where you can choose not to have your room cleaned and you get Y500 voucher to use at restaurants/shops, very comfortable bed/pillows, free wi-fi.
Review 130:Rooms smallish. Standard rooms desperately require refurbishment. Environs around the hotel do not cater to the tourist. Caters more to business conventions.
Review 131:Breakfast of a high standard.
Review 132:small bathroom :)
Review 133:convenient location, easy to get airports, plenty of places to eat, nice surround if you'd like to walk in the morning or evening. And one of the famous shrines near by - Sengakuji (if you know the story about 47 Ronins)
Review 134:Easy access to local trains, bullet train and Narita Express is one of the main reasons we always choose this hotel. Restaurants and food stores around the hotel and train station make it convenient and easy for meals. Hotel staff are professional, efficient and courteous. We were able to clearly see Mt. Fuji from our room last fall.
Review 135:Room is very small. Two people cannot get by each other. Heater did not work. Bathroom is size of the plane bathroom. Customer service people did not understand simple English
Review 136:Proximity to the subway
