Reviews for Wynnstay Hotel

Review 1:Double bed in coach house could be a little bigger. Also, the Gorillas in the garden were a confusing addition. A colourful rockery might have been better and more appropriate for the building.

Review 2:The staff go over and above to make everything go smoothly during our stay. We felt like royalty. The room was spotless and generous with the beverages and toiletries.

Review 3:Was charged for parking on leaving , receptionist blamed booking . Com for not mentioning it on booking form . One of the reasons of booking the hotel was for parking and it could of been mentioned when we booked in l, what can you say when your about to leave and someone is passing the book, just pay it . Not a great amount of money to park , just a bit sneaky

Review 4:Nice clean big room , friendly receptionist on arrival ,very central for our night out

Review 5:The suite room was small, covered in cobwebs. The mould on the shower head and shower corners was thick and slimy, in all honesty cringe worthy. Would have liked a drink but no fridge to be found. the ironing board which was left stay against a wall was burnt black .

Review 6:Staff were lovely and the hotel on the outside was pretty.

Review 7:The location for what we needed was fine but the rooms and bathrooms didn't look anything like what the hotel advertises. I wouldn't stay here again. I felt very misled by false advertising of this hotel. However, the staff were lovely

Review 8:Nothing not too like about this hotel!

Review 9:Where to start.. Great hotel, wonderful friendly staff, Food lovely, Spa facilities excellent. Had wonderful stay. This may be older type hotel but don't let that put you off, their standards are high and they will do all they can to help during your stay.

Review 10:The carpets and some of the furniture is a little tired but that is reflected in the price.

Review 11:The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. It is somewhere you feel relaxed and can be yourself. The beds are very comfortable we had a large room on top floor.

Review 12:My room overlooked alley of pub next door. people smoking outside in alley so had to keep windows closed because of smoke

Review 13:In the centre of town so easy access to shopping & other visitor attractions

Review 14:There are no lifts so if you cannot take the stairs it is best to check this before booking

Review 15:Comfortable relaxing bar area, we ate there both nights staff very helpful and pleasant.

Review 16:The hotel needs refurbished. It smells a bit funny. The fire doors are all propped open throughout the night when everyone was in bed - yikes! The bedroom doors aren't fire doors adding to the risk. The windows were paper thin and we could hear everything from outside. I asked for well cooked eggs for breakfast and the waiter showed disinterest and of course the eggs delivered were very under cooked.

Review 17:We were there for a wedding so we had to book in earlier and pay £10. Not very good.

Review 18:I liked the room. Staff very helpful, nothing to much trouble. Facilities were really good.

Review 19:View of roof wasn't good, despite it being executive double

Review 20:Hotel itself was great, staff very helpful and amiable.Great facilities and good dining. We had breakfast in room and it was scrumptious, sausages amazing.

Review 21:Very poor nights sleep, an extractor unit was running till 2.30 am and re started at 6am, when mentioned in the morning at checking out, showed no interest.

Review 22:The staff were pleasant and helpful

Review 23:Pavillion Bar was excessively noisy and we had to transfer to the restaurant for a quiet meal. I think this should be mentioned when booking.

Review 24:Friendly receptionist and excellent restaurant manager. Comfortable beds.

Review 25:the next room was being worked on so was a bit noisy in the afternoon when we arrived but the chap had gone late afternoon

Review 26:nice friendly hotel, never seen a bowling lawn in a hotel before so was nice to sit and watch. Bathroom was very modern

Review 27:The hotel needed a bit of a refresh. Our room was large and in a lovely position but furnishings and bathroom fittings a little tired. It could have been stunning.

Review 28:Everything was adequate.

Review 29:Strongly outdated rooms, rather expensive, breakfast not included, 2x no lamb available at restaurant though on the menu. We were disappointed about.

Review 30:Pool & spa, kind staff, breakfast, location, different restaurants

Review 31:listening to the glass empties from the bar being tipped, very early in the morning..... I don't think they could have made any more noise if they tried! Noise from extraction system over kitchen

Review 32:great town center location. Good breakfast, good bar area.

Review 33:the noise form the traffic and a phone call at 4.30 am saying good morning chef?

Review 34:the food and service in the restaurant was excellent and all staff were in hotel were pleasant and efficient

Review 35:The breakfast not included in the price. We paid £170 for two night and breakfast cost an extra 21 per morning, and amount of food not justified for the price.

Review 36:Everything was lovely.

Review 37:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We asked for a later checkout time and more condiments which were granted straight away. Lovely can do attitudes of the staff.

Review 38:Breakfast average at best. Sound of doors, possibly swing doors, continuously opening and closing during entertainment night in Willsons bar could be heard from our room.

Review 39:Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable large room. Very relaxed. Willsons bar welcoming and food lovely and arrived quickly. Spa and swimming pool good. Towels provided in spa.

Review 40:Creeky floors. Lots of stairs. The pool wasn't that clean.

Review 41:Large room, friendly staff. Nice breakfast although expensive. Nice and quiet at night on top floor.

Review 42:From moment when we arrived until we checked out was brilliant the staff are great, the room was gorgeous and the food fantastic such a lovely atmosphere!

Review 43:No bad experience. It would have been nice to have local beers and Welsh whiskey in the bar. Bar was rather too bright in the evening.

Review 44:Friendly staff, we felt welcome, staff helped us. comfortable room, enjoyed the food.

Review 45:Did not take breakfast so cannot comment on this but food in the bar was very good.

Review 46:Good hotel with excellent facilities in all areas to make a comfortable stay. We had a lovely large room - clean and well provided. Would return to the Wynnstay again without hesitation.

Review 47:Its not for very disabled people. I managed as I am a little disabled.

Review 48:The helpfulness of the receptionists. I had help with my luggage by a very helpful and cheerful young porter. The food is outstanding. Would go there again.

Review 49:No air conditioning and the excessive noise from an extractor system of some kind right outside the window. Fortunately was able to be moved to another room. Some areas were in need of a little tlc regarding decor.

Review 50:The on site pool and gym. the friendly and helpful staff.

Review 51:The stairs!!! Be aware if you have mobility issues that there is no lift, ask for 1 st floor. Breakfast room too quiet perhaps some appropriate background music would be nice.

Review 52:The staff, very helpful and friendly. Willing to help with suitcases. I asked for an ironing board and it was brought to my room in less than 5 minutes- excellent service. The best bed and pillows I have used for a long time. Excellent spa facilities with again friendly and helpful staff.

Review 53:Nothing we didn't like... you can hear the traffic at the front on the main street where we stayed but it wasn't an issue for us..not a complaint.

Review 54:Loved the character of the hotel...we had a refurbished room with brand new bathroom. The lady on reception was very helpful and friendly, she chatted with me when she could while I waited for my taxi in reception.. and allowed me to check out at 12pm which was very much appreciated..thankyou!

Review 55:My husband is 81 and I am 75 and you put us in room 208 and we had to climb so many stairs. You could see that we found it difficult.Because we had to ask for assistance with our cases. And we had to pack before breakfast as we couldn't walk up the stairs again. We had booked the room some time ago, so it wasn't a random booking. And we were over the kitchens with noise all night. The bathroom had no extracter fan. We couldnt open the windowi in the bedroom because of the noise . The stairs are a killer and there is no way we would stay again,

Review 56:The bed

Review 57:Convenient location, good gym, adequate room and good shower.

Review 58:I requested NOT 2nd floor, stairs are an issue for me health wise. On arrival we were allocated a second floor room, staff immediately changed it but when paying for a "de lux" room you don't really expect to be over the kitchen with the extractor fan just outside your window.

Review 59:Good old fashioned service.

Review 60:Very friendly and welcoming. Excellent breakfast choice. Nice to have en suite bath AND shower. Characterful room furnishing.. Excellent facilities on site which I couldn't do justice to because of the shortness of my stay.

Review 61:No air conditioning. Windows were very hard to open. Banging doors.

Review 62:Relaxed atmosphere. Excellent staff. Comfortable bed. Elegant decor. Clean. Variety of options in public areas.

Review 63:hard work climbing 3 flights of stairs, spacious room but dated décor, needs a re vamp,no lift. Will stay again but will ask for 1st floor room ! Very noisy during Saturday night, had to leave window open due to heat and no aircon, revellers screeching and shouting outside in the street til 5am,not appreciated

Review 64:Very comfortable bed and pillows, friendly attentive staff, good freshly cooked breakfast. Good location for wandering around town but noisy at night.

Review 65:Rooms don't match facilities- need updating. Clean and bed comfy but very basic and dated, especially bathroom.

Review 66:Facilities on site were fab. Food was fantastic, as was waiter, receptionist and host.

Review 67:When there was a fire alarm at breakfast and we had to evacuate the building the waitress chose to ignore my question even though she heard me. Either she could not speak English well enough, or she was just rude.

Review 68:Location, nice weather, able to sit out and eat dinner on the bowling green

Review 69:We had a terrific room overlooking the bowling green. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was lovely and of a high standard. Every staff member I met was very polite and helpful.

Review 70:Everything and everyone was perfect, such a warm welcome 10/10. The staff were so friendly, the food was amazing cooked by Italian Chef's (double bonus there). The bedrooms were super cosy and the location is great. The spa was so relaxing. I would definately go back.

Review 71:An uncomfortable night on a hot day. The window unsecured with easy access from a flat roof accessed by a spiral staircase in the garden. We had a superior room which was badly arranged, obviously cobbled together,.

Review 72:The leisure suite.

Review 73:I don't expect to have to boil water in a kettle in order to wash & shave. No hot water to shower with. Complained several times to reception but nothing was done. The breakfast menu suggested grapefruit - there wasn't any. I didn't order bacon but I still had it.

Review 74:The Saturday night dinner - IJLB - good food & the young staff worked brilliantly.

Review 75:I didn't feel that the pictures on the website were truly reflective of the place that I visited. The room was dated, with bare patches on the carpet, and a drip causing limescale behind the sink. Additionally, the climb to the room was long - would not be suitable for the elderly or disabled. More expensive than the quality of the room should have indicated.

Review 76:The breakfast was lovely, and they were happy to accommodate any dietary requirements (including my awkward Slimming World needs!)

Review 77:We spent our honeymoon in the Winnstay, 57 years ago and enjoyed this just as much! There are many updates and renovations, but the essentials of the original hotel are still there and the staff were marvelous! T

Review 78:Not really bad but there is no lift so quite a few stairs to the second floor, offered help with luggage.

Review 79:Large comfortable clean room. Excellent breakfast.

Review 80:Room was small and in a corner part of hotel which overlooked a poor part of surroundings. However, this would of been ok if the bar underneath my room wasn't so noisy and the cigarette smoke wasn't coming into the room. (The windows had to be open as it was so hot).

Review 81:Evening meal for inclusive price was good.

Review 82:It's tired, no lifts, redecorating needed in places. Bar overpriced and breakfast same price for a cooked breakfast or porridge!

Review 83:The staff and Spa were fantastic

Review 84:Nothing.

Review 85:The food was excellent the room clean and tidy. The facilities are great and there is plenty to do. Staff are very friendly and the cook is just brilliant also thanks to James the waiter.

Review 86:Room had no heating shower was cold and the receptionist and managers answer to our problem was "these thing happen" absolutely no offer of another room or shower and NO apologie!

Review 87:The signal for wifi was poor

Review 88:Staff were extremely friendly and helpful The food was amazing Cater for special diatery requirements Quality of food was first class

Review 89:Window would not stay open so room got a bit hot Bath plug did not fit so water constantly needed topping up

Review 90:Staff - all excellent, welcoming and friendly Bed - so good and comfy Food - very good

Review 91:The pool although fairly new looking was filthy! Room was very dated, uncomfortable bed, lots of road noise due to no double glazing, bathroom window was painted shut and bath panel rotten and splintered dangerously. Worst of all NO BEANS with the very minimalistic full English bre

Review 92:The hotel is generally a bit tired. It was clean but not in the best of shape. Our room was basic, the bathroom even more so. There was a very noisy extractor from the kitchen right outside with ran until 10pm and started again at 7.30am. We asked if we could move but there were no other rooms. We also had a water leak from the room above, which staff dealt with as best they could. We were only staying 1 night so not a massive problem, but we certainly wouldn't have wanted to stay a week.

Review 93:location was right in town so handy for shops, restaurants etc.

Review 94:Take great care - they employ a predatory car park management company so it could cost £100 if you mess up the instructions.

Review 95:Good hotel nicely kept gym and pool

Review 96:Plug in bathroom!!!! Didn't hold water in!!!

Review 97:Fantastic bed, sooooo comfy. Best night sleep in a long time!!! Lovely receptionist, made us feel welcome.

Review 98:It didn't feel like a 4 star hotel - the rooms are large but do not feel luxurious (e.g old TV). The en-suite was spacious but cheap flooring that totally detracted from any '4 star' accreditation. After housekeeping had been round there were dirty wine / champagne glasses left in our room and an old bottle of wine from the evening before.

Review 99:Very friendly staff and excellent location. Wilson's Wine Bar was great fun and the Coach House Spa was excellent.

Review 100:Had a lovely one night stay over the Easter weekend. Staff were helpful and polite, facilities were great, breakfast was delicious. It was clear they use local produce and good quality free range eggs. Although the local town was deserted, we enjoyed drinking in the bar and were happy with the comfy sofas and attentive staff.

Review 101:Welcoming staff - absolutely every member of staff were helpful, attentive and friendly. Food was so good we didn't feel the need to venture out after a busy day. Pool and spa area were particularly welcome on arrival

Review 102:I had to come home.

Review 103:The staff were very warm and welcoming. The evening meal was great, and the waiting staff could not have been more accommodating. Bed was exceptionally comfortable.

Review 104:Couldn't open window so room was hot. The steep stairs to get to room, wish there was a law where hotels had to state of there was a lift or not. The bed was ok although very soft and bouncy I almost felt like I was going to fall off. There was a couch near the back wall behind the TV, if the layout of the room had been a bit better I could have watched TV on the sofa. Breakfast was ok although I would have liked more fruit on the continental table. The bar food was ok although the chips were awful.

Review 105:The spa facilities were good although the pool a little small. It was a shame you had to go outside to get to the area though, if you could walk inside you can go for a swim and then go straight back to room.

Review 106:I did not realize that prebooking treatments were required as there were not enough spaces it was mostly all booked

Review 107:The treatments were great the room was lovely the food was nice and staff excellent many thanks for my pleasant stay

Review 108:Would of been nice to have a plug available next to my bedside.

Review 109:Dinner was simply fantastic. Mussels for Starter and Battered Fish for Main in the Lounge Bar. Great Value of Money! Breakfast in the Morning was well presented and tasting beautiful!

Review 110:I appreciate that the hotel is a liisted building but the creaking floorboards in the corridor outside my room and the loud banging ? fire door disturbed my sleep late at night and early mrning.

Review 111:I liked everything about my stay. I had booked a single room but was upgraded to a double deluxe room which was very comfortable. I found all the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Review 112:Room was cold but we did report one radiator not working.

Review 113:Receptionists fantastic, leisure facilities super,we enjoyed swimming with our grand children, party went well.Beds v confortable

Review 114:Room on top floor - lots of stairs to carry several pieces of luggage up (no lift); Wi-Fi poor connection - kept cutting out.

Review 115:Lovely room, good food, friendly staff; good leisure centre with pool.

Review 116:Healthy option cereals (muesli, Bran Flakes, fruit salad etc) would have been appreciated though the rest of the breakfasts were varied and good. Tired bedroom furniture and poor carpet. No lift.

Review 117:Friendly, helpful and charming staff who went the extra mile giving us good tourist advice too. Excellent dinners in a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble for the dairy free member of our group. Comfortable, pleasant decor in the reception rooms. Good, private parking

Review 118:Bedroom do small. No shower. When I enquired with receptionist. She said we could shower roomnext door. That I didnt think was appropriate. Hotel old and lovely stairs very steep. We had change rooms as stairs too much to climb as I was there appointment in orthopaedic hospital. Would visit again and request room first floor not 115

Review 119:The staff very friendly. Spa good. Restaurant qas excellent

Review 120:The room would benefit from an update, it was looking a little tired and worn around the edges, also bathroom needs bringing up to date, ie shower !!!

Review 121:Staff were very friendly and efficient.bed comfortable and clean

Review 122:The coffee served in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner is thick, strong and frankly stewed.

Review 123:Warm, friendly welcome. Efficient service. Food was excellent. The facilities in the room were very good. A caffeterie for making coffee was a bonus.

Review 124:Staff member turned up for work after breakfast start time and then when asked for a fried egg with breakfast replied with "five eggs". English was not her first language.

Review 125:Location to town centre

Review 126:The heating did not come on in the afternoon till around 4.30. I asked for, and was given, an electric heater, which helped to some extent, but feeling cold left a bad impression. Otherwise our stay was very pleasant.

Review 127:Location of room was noisy (above function room) Bathroom was a little dated

Review 128:Staff very friendly Nice large car park Pool and gym Spacious room Central location Cosy feel to hotel

Review 129:all bookings are non-refundable. Credit Card Transaction takes immediate effect, immediate after you make your booking, even a month before you check in

Review 130:Room was very low standard: outdated, damp, no noise insulation from street, very disappointing. It was poor value for money as you had to pay for the extras that made it worth while. Too expensive given the room standard.

Review 131:Staff Fitness Centre Spa Adjoining coffee shop Restaurant

Review 132:The breakfast is well over priced @ £10.50 per person.I think the room was a little expensive.

Review 133:Ample car parking in the centre of town. The spa is well equipped

Review 134:Run down Flaking paint and rotten window frames Dated bathroom Dated decor Smell of mould and damp especially in the bathroom

Review 135:Central location and nice bar next door
