Reviews for The Regency Hotel

Review 1:The lady who brought us our breakfast in the morning seemed to be a bit moody. Also the view of the swimming pool, the swimming pool was green and dirty, they should at least cover it up instead of people having to look at it.

Review 2:The lady on reception was polite and kind

Review 3:The room we were moved to was very tired, which was a theme that ran throughout the hotel - however the booking was low cost so you cannot expect too much. Our bathroom wasn't that clean either.

Review 4:The staff were excellent. They were very friendly and always willing to help. We asked to be changed to a double room, (the standard of the room wasn't great) but the staff help was very good. The location to what we had planned was excellent. the value for money was good.

Review 5:Couldn't connect to the wifi (not a massive problem for our stay). Bed wasn't great, mattress felt like it needed replacing. Shower was hot but lacked pressure.

Review 6:Friendly staff who were very helpful. Great breakfast and plenty of it. Ideal location for our requirements and a great price.

Review 7:Rather temperamental flush in the loo - got the hang of it, though!

Review 8:Slept like logs in a huge, comfortable bed - excellent breakfast set us up for the rest of the day. Would love to see the setting in summer, would think it's very picturesque.

Review 9:At night the position is in a country lane which makes it a little harder to find though the site is very well lit, and the road signs to it are very good.

Review 10:The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast provided was excellent.

Review 11:Rooms were dirty and dated. Not value for money as price was in comparison with other chain hotels in the area.

Review 12:Friendly member of staff. Only one on duty over the whole stay.

Review 13:very quiet hotel beautiful surroundings/gardens Staff at hotel so lovely, friendly and accommodating - made us feel very welcome during our stay. Ideal location Excellent cooked breakfast

Review 14:Small room, small bar, restaurant resembles what you would find in a holiday camp. Pretty dingy in places and the room was more like a second rate Travel lodge.

Review 15:The staff were friendly and you cant really expect too much for the price.

Review 16:The property could do with a few quid spending on it in all honesty, to restore it to former glories. Just felt a bit tired and unloved.

Review 17:Potentially a really nice property set in a stunning location with all amenities within a short drive. The owner and his staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

Review 18:Located near Gatwick, but far enough to be quiet. 5 to 10 minutes drive. Not handy to any stores but meals on site were good. It's an old building, charming in some ways. Beds ned to be updated. Ple th of pillows. Had a room with a large bed plus a twin which left little space to luggage, but there was space in the bathroom. Would definitely stay here again. All the help were grand, Harry drew us a map, Svina did everything the evening we were there, Kay got us a perfect breakfast.

Review 19:Brilliant location for an overnight stop before travelling to Gatwick. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Great breakfast. Extremely good value for money. Highly recommend

Review 20:the room was cold the heating was only on for an hour its very dated it needs doing up ,the food is expensive for wot you get. and parking is 3 pound a night even thow it says free parking and the pool looked very dirty and full of leaves

Review 21:the shower very good

Review 22:water leaking through ceiling in dining room over breakfast. a lot of TLC needed to get this beautiful hotel in better condition

Review 23:breakfast was great. fruit, yogurt, hot food. a nice bar to spend time in the evening

Review 24:A small thing - if you need to leave early be aware breakfast starts at 07:30.

Review 25:Very friendly staff, great location - super convenient for Gatwick airport yet very peaceful.

Review 26:The night porter was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. The lady serving breakfast and running reception was equally good in the morning. That gives a really good first impression. Big breakfast and they had gluten free bread

Review 27:Very dated, ok if you don't mind the old fashioned look...the shower was poor, bed a bit lumpy, pool looks fab, but is scruffy....ever used? doubt it!

Review 28:Very homely and friendly, spacious room, good tv...and lovely freshly cooked breakfast, fresh fruit etc, plenty of free parking

Review 29:the room was not as booked, when questioned we were told what did we expect for our money!! what we expected was a clean room with a shower that did not have mould on the celing and dirty, the soap dispencer so rusty, my wife would not use the shower.there were damp marks on the walls. sheets were too small for the bed. we have noted all this to booking.com would never stay here or reccommend to anyone.

Review 30:the breakfast

Review 31:See above

Review 32:Great cooked breakfast. Very helpful/ accommodating staff with arriving late having driven 400 miles after work. The only down side was the nicotine smell in the bedroom.

Review 33:Dirty & very dusty, in need of lots of TLC, room was ok but bathroom dirty with human hair on tiles, bedroom had badly artex walls which were very dirty.

Review 34:Location & friendliness of staff also car parking.

Review 35:Could not connect to wifi. Room dusty. Room 5 could not lock door had to fetch staff member to do it, alternatively had difficulty getting out of room (fire safety issue?) Walk to carpark round back of hotel pitch dark no lighting whatsoever - really not nice.

Review 36:food available location close to Gatwick

Review 37:very basic evening meal menu - could do with a bit more variety, though breakfast was excellent.

Review 38:Friendly staff, a very welcome stay for a one night booking .

Review 39:A ittle more attention could have been paid to Vacuuming the room there was rather thick durt in the corners

Review 40:Friendly Staff, comfortable room, Good food Very Quietat night

Review 41:not really a criticism merely a comment, in need of updating otherwise charming

Review 42:Welcoming and friendly staff, good location for our purpose. Evening meal was good.

Review 43:It's a little out of the way of the town and cost 10 pounds for a taxi to nearest town in Crawley. I also would have liked a larger bar

Review 44:The staff where wonderful, and very accommodating, service was slow at times. But I enjoyed my stay immensely. The pool was lovely and clean

Review 45:Very uncomfortable beds, lack of soundproofing. Woken up in the middle of the night by guests leaving to catch early flights.

Review 46:We loved the breakfast and the location

Review 47:We arrived early and had dinner. The meal took over an hour to arrive. The bedroom (room 1, twin) was very noisy as it was by the kitchen and because of the age of the building you could hear every movement upstairs! The bed was uncomfortable and to say the pillows were flat would be an understatement. However overall not a comfortable stay and would not return.

Review 48:The staff were friendly and helpful. Beautiful setting.

Review 49:The bed was a bit firm for my taste but thats personal taste

Review 50:Lovley hotel quiet location even with gatwick airport close by. Good food and frendly helpful staff what more could you ask

Review 51:Terrible bed, cracked bathroom furniture and sink. Bery noisey hallways and paper thin walls.

Review 52:Location was great. Close to Crawley shopping centre and the motorways. Beautiful surroundings.

Review 53:Even though we were near the airport we couldnt believe how peaceful it was. The swimming pool was great, chilled for 2 hours in the sun with a drink from the bar! Could do with a lil tlc but happy to return soon.

Review 54:The rooms were a bit dated but still clean and comfortable. Also the furnishings went with the character of the hotel which looked like an old Tudor house.

Review 55:Lovely location and lots of parking space available. Pool was a god send as we went at hottest time of year so far. Staff were very efficient and friendly and would go out their way to make your stay enjoyable. Other guests were very friendly too. Travel cot was supplied and my daughters high chair was ready at mealtimes :)

Review 56:Hotel could do with some updating and the swimming pool and grounds need attention

Review 57:Friendly welcome on arrival and very competitive rates also the breakfast offered was excellent

Review 58:The pool didn't look very inviting,in need of a good clean! Some areas inside the hotel looking a bit tired.

Review 59:Great quiet location and friendly service with good food!

Review 60:the hotel is a little dated

Review 61:good value, excellent service, good location, quiet but not far from airport / motorway system, good heart breakfast, clean and good size room

Review 62:The hotel can probably be only safely acessible by car- path/road is pretty unsafe by foot.

Review 63:The statf were very kind and welcoming. Free wifi, large room and Nice bathroom.

Review 64:I lost something impor tant.Howevert the very kind staff found it and contacted us so we could return to collect it.

Review 65:our room at the rear was surprisingly quiet the building is very interesting the breakfast was good

Review 66:Bathroom a bit tired and shabby. Swimming pool looked too dirty to swim in. Suggest the purchase of a pool cover for safety and to reduce maintenance when pool is not in use due to cold weather.

Review 67:Quiet location, friendly staff and property had character.

Review 68:Wifi was not available in our room, decor dated, pool not fit for use, shower awkward to use due to restricted ceiling height. Property needs maintenance.

Review 69:Staff friendly and helpful, nice location, meals hot and good portions, ample parking, close to gatwick/crawley, good value for price paid.

Review 70:Although a little dated , all in all, this place is a hidden gem...tucked away yet very close to the M23. The service was friendly, the bedroom comfortable and the breakfast well cooked

Review 71:The water pressure was very low so shower didn't work - luckily there was a bath! Curtains were thin so light woke us up early.

Review 72:We had a nice room with lots of windows, and the room and bathroom were very spacious.

Review 73:The power socket under the dressing table meant the kettle had to be put on floor. Dirty tissues in drawer so meant room wasn't properly cleaned. Wi-fi intermittent although this was mentioned.

Review 74:Free Parking, nice breakfast, friendly staff

Review 75:No complaints. Limited but adequate choice in bar and restaurant. Food good.

Review 76:Relaxing hotel in a quiet location. Staff friendly and efficient. Food good, if a limited choice. This a small hotel, so just a small bar, but a lovely place to stay. One we'll note for our next visit to England.

Review 77:Could do with a lick of paint to refreshen up but this isn't something that took away from our great experience.

Review 78:This hotel is in a very seculuded location yet only a few minutes drive from the motorway. We were greeted by a very welcoming host (whose name I did not get), who couldn't do enough to ensure we were happy and comfortable. The place is a little dated but full of character and clean throughout. We are in the restaurant in the evening and the food was lovely, the homemade burger was probably one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Price paid was amazing value for money and if in the area would stay again.

Review 79:Dead flies in ceiling lamp and cracked and peeling plaster in shower room, very poor maintenance (blown windows) but could be lovely faded elegance with just a little more care

Review 80:Quiet location, big room, friendly staff, fair value

Review 81:Felt very very dated and rooms were not cleaned to a very good standard at all. I found toe nails and a dead moth in my first room. But they did move me to new room and bigger free of charge .

Review 82:Bed was really good and the rooms a nice size. the staff were lovely and did everything they could for you.

Review 83:The pool is not heated I couldn't get wifi in my bedroom The shower spray wasn't powerful enough

Review 84:I loved the pool The breakfast was delicious The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you

Review 85:Hallway window frames filthy smelt damp outside could do with water blast to remove cobwebs and freshen overall appearance

Review 86:Staff friendly meals excellent drinks very reasonable

Review 87:The staff were authentically caring, doing absolutely anything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The Full English breakfast was amazing and the room was warm and cosy.

Review 88:Nothing

Review 89:The staff were excellent, they were very helpful & nothing was to much trouble. The full breakfast was great and just what we needed before flying and tasting the in-flight food. We had a good nights sleep which set us up for the long flight ahead. We will definately stay here again.

Review 90:No wifi in rooms - have to go to public areas. Plenty of parking but a bit of a muddy walk if raining (as was when I stayed)

Review 91:Close to airport but set in pleasant countryside altho can be a bit tricky to find; welcoming helpful staff, reasonable food, plenty of parking

Review 92:The roon was a little chilly but there was an electric wall heater at one end of the room which helped.

Review 93:The staff were all very polite, pleasant and helpful. The food was of a good quality for the price.

Review 94:The radiator had no knob with which to turn the heating down so the room was too hot, but I didn't pursue this, but opened the window instead, which wasn't ideal. I don't know whether this was intentional or not. The room was a little small, but manageable.

Review 95:Price £40.50, and cleanlinliness. Nice big head on the shower too.

Review 96:Room could have been cleaner, room was comfortable but dusty and cobwebs. A bit dated and very dusty in bathroom. I know if updated price would be higher but I wouldn't mind that. Mouldy bits on ceiling.

Review 97:Quietness of location, free wi-fi, lovely members of staff. wonderful breakfast.Free parking.Lovely hot shower.

Review 98:Radiators went off at bedtime so it was cold in the room and the windows don't retain any heat if it's not on. No wi-fi in room.

Review 99:Friendly staff, excellent food, lovely location in the Countryside, lovely views, spacious room with lots of windows and mirrors, lots of tea and coffee making facilities, lots of parking space, easy to find and close to the motorways. Nice hot water.

Review 100:Room was very sparse. Shower cubicle was tiny - A shame since the bathroom is a really good size Mattress. Absolutely knackered! Black mould all over blinds Cutlery in breakfast room filthy. Still had previous users dried food on it Breakfast very greasy.

Review 101:Size of room and ensuite. Location: Close to M23 and Gatwick. Very quiet woodland setting.

Review 102:The receptionist seemed to do everything but she was very friendly and helpful. The room had a comfortable bed and a hot shower but it was small and basic. However, the TV worked and it was quiet overnight. Dinner was plain but cooked well. Cooked breakfast was good.

Review 103:The wals were a bit thin and i could hear the TV next door. Someone somewhere was snoring...

Review 104:The hotel has a nice feel to it, a welcome alternative to the big chain hotels

Review 105:the staff were really good, we arrived expecting just to leave our car and book in at 2, only to be told a room was available at 9am.Nothing was to much trouble for the staff, we had a meal in the evening which was very good value for the money,so was the breakfast .The room was good for the money, water was very hot, room very warm. We would book in again when we are in the area, very good for Lingfield Park.

Review 106:Low noise through the internal walls. Dated decor and dust in bedroom.Old pillows and thin duvets. Toilet not cleaned under the rim. Norestrictors on ground floor bedroom windows so felt afraid to open themat night. Is this legal? When the central heating goes off in theevening, the room quickly goes cold so heaters should be available inall rooms. One was brought when we asked. Parking at the front near theentrance is limited to about 6 places with no allocated disabledparking. After asking for a disabled space, the one given was toocramped. They expect you to drop the disabled person at the entrance andthen park around the back, which is unacceptable.

Review 107:Quiet surroundings. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Fresh towels daily.Plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits.

Review 108:1. Rain dripping on my head from the roof through the ceiling as I walked to the bedroom 2. The whole hotel is tatty and needs a complete refurbishment 3. Beds that were probably older than me (70) 4. Dry or wet rot floors being held together by the carpet along the window line of the bedroom.

Review 109:The staff were very obliging. Food was excellent.

Review 110:the tv did not work biscuits - they had a cream filling not everyones taste plain would be a better choice.

Review 111:the breakfast was fantastic .. good clean and welcoming facilities

Review 112:in one of the room the boys did not succeed to ge a shower as it did not work, there was no pression.it could be they did not find out how it works !

Review 113:the environment, calm, food and friendly welcome

Review 114:Reception area and en suits needs spruicing up

Review 115:Breakfast was excelant and the bacon was realy top quality. Rooms were warm and comfortable and at a very reasonable price

Review 116:Kaye was excellent, she would help with any problem. She is multi-talented. She makes excellent home cooked meals. Train station just 5 minutes away. Harry was a gracious host.

Review 117:The hotel is less than 10 minutes drive from Gatwick, but you do need clear directions to find it as it is down a small lane, but worth the effort to find it.

Review 118:Travel delays caused us to arrive at 10pm, but a quick call to the hotel reassured us that arrangements for the key were possible even after reception would close. The room was large and comfortable and the location is quiet; a good nights sleep and cooked breakfast set us up for the next day.

Review 119:A touch shabby, one of the bed-side lights didn't work (and not all rooms have wi-fi).

Review 120:We arrived late at night but were met with a friendly welcome and a host willing to change our room when we reminded her of our request on-line for wi-fi. Clean and well-towelled bathroom, good TV and kettle-related supplies. Peaceful. Full English breakfast inclusive if required.

Review 121:It could benefit from providing wifi. I did not have a great mobile signal so I was unable to check my work emails.

Review 122:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean. The full English breakfast is a generous size with quality ingredients. A very comfortable bed and quiet location led to a great nights sleep. We would stay again.

Review 123:Our bathroom in room 4 was very dark (no window) with very dated and worn fittings. It was kept clean, but due to the very old fittings, floor and decoration, it felt grubby and the toilet didn't flush properly. Our friends had a much nicer bathroom (No 11) and we think some room upgrades are urgently needed.

Review 124:We were made to feel very welcome by the staff, who went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast was good using good produce, with a variety of fresh fruit and "good strong tea".

Review 125:The double bed in the family room had one of the worst mattresses we've ever slept on. As soon as you lay down you felt like you were lying on the base of the bed. Both my husband and I barely got a few hours sleep. I needed to take Ibuprofen medication as soon as I woke up, and we both had sore necks, shoulders and backs, which spoilt the rest of the weekend visiting friends. We complained at reception who said no one had ever complained before. 1) we found that highly unlikely given how much pain my back hurt and 2) they own a hotel, the least they should do is check mattresses, all you had to do was sit on it to realize how awful it was. Can't comment on other rooms but if you want sleep DON'T BOOK THE FAMILY ROOM. To top it off we found hair in the shower from a previous occupant.

Review 126:The positive was friendly staff, quiet location and easy access from M25.

Review 127:Parking Facilities & shower were not effeciant.

Review 128:NOT far from motorway closer to shopping area .Good sized Rooms & very friendly staff & service was good Food was good. &staff called Svenja went out her way to cook me breakfast at dinner time & guided us all the way &recommended reliable cabs. Also the cleaners were well organised & receptionist called Kay was good to us.

Review 129:The couple who stayed in the room next door who were shall we say busy all night!! Management apologised but it wasn't their fault.

Review 130:Friendly staff, bought breakfast forward by 30mins. Very good food. Room was clean and tidy with hot drinks and biscuits. No hubbub that you would ordinarily get at a hotel so close to the airport.

Review 131:The whole hotel is in need of some TLC, there was one lady doing everything in the morning (serving breakfast and handling the checking out guests) the place smelt musty.

Review 132:The location is excellent and easy to find for somebody unfamiliar with the area.

Review 133:the room we stayed in (9) we could hear everything the people in the next room were saying, their bed must have been against the same wall that our bed was against!

Review 134:friendly staff, hot cooked breakfast, lovely rural location but very close to motorway and airport.

Review 135:Only two thin pillows for u both were insufficient and made for uncomfortable sleep. The room was nice size but the ensuite was dated and in need of some upgrading. We were disappointed that there was no bath. When we stayed the restaurant was closed, which was such a disappointment.

Review 136:The building was beautiful, a wonderful setting for peace and quiet.

Review 137:The hotel is a very quiet place for holidays. Perfect place for visiting towns in the south of england. The bedrooms are clean and breakfast is very good. Kay and Sonia are very welcoming and friendly! Thank you!

Review 138:Nothing to dislike.

Review 139:Situation of Hotel Value for Money Friendly welcoming staff Room was clean . If I was visiting the area again and needed somewhere to stay I would certainly stay at this hotel.
