Reviews for The Terrace Lodge Hotel
Review 1:Lack of restaurant, hence lack of breakfasts Old, single glazed windows causing cold drafts in winter time Badly rusted metal shelves in the bathroom Malfunctioning toilet flush
Review 2:Location, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 3:Could not connect to free wi-fi
Review 4:Cheap, clean & comfortable bed for the night. No breakfast but Beefeater and Whetherspoons literally a few yards away. Handy for bus station (200 yards). Quiet undisturbed night. Review based on my stay in single room 26.
Review 5:snacks and refreshments weren't re stocked in the room and no fresh towels. bit pricey for a basic room.
Review 6:location was perfect and the room itself was comfortable and clean.
Review 7:No wardrobe in room,no parking, had to park in public car park and had to pay sometimes twice a day.
Review 8:Everything was on the doorstep didn't have to go far for shops and restaurants.
Review 9:The floorboards seemed very creaky.
Review 10:Staff were great, saw that we had been to the match at Huish Park and proceeded to say that Yeovil's loan players regularly stay at the hotel, which instantly put me at ease given I was cautious regarding the reviews. Room space perfect for a couple, plenty of tea/coffee/milk which was decent for a 1 night stay. All in all a very comfy stay.
Review 11:Room was opposite back of a restaurant so had to keep curtains closed for privacy, It was explained that this was the last single room available. For one night it was adequate.
Review 12:For a one night stopover this no frills hotel was fine and fairly priced. Well stocked refreshments tray.
Review 13:The staff were absolutely amazing and made our stay perfect by going out of their way to swap our room to the one we booked 3 years previous when we first met and stayed there. Just made our stay more special. Thank you so much
Review 14:Drunk guests fighting in the corridors, shouting, waking up guests. Hotel staff should be mindful of their guest's sleep and intervene. I almost called the police
Review 15:Good location, friendly staff
Review 16:Lack of free parking although it worked out ok parking in the leisure complex opposite. It was noisy at night with the back of a restaurant outside so had to sleep with the windows closed.
Review 17:Very helpful staff, lovely big room, very comfortable and in a convenient location. There were plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk and the cinema complex over the road.
Review 18:This is no fault of the hotel but we were right next to a noisy leisure park where shouting went on through parts of the night.
Review 19:The staff were incredibly nice and very helpful. Also the room was quite cosy.
Review 20:Town centre so a little noisy, but the double glazing kept most noise out. No parking but public car park very close.
Review 21:Comfortable room with all facilities we could ask for. Lovely bed, bath with shower, tea and biscuits plus bottles water provided.
Review 22:It's weird construction. Had to walk across a scruffy alley way, through a building, out into a courtyard, and then up some stairs. There were two dining chairs in the room. Replacing with a small sofa would make a big difference to comfort of room.
Review 23:Clean, well maintained room. Powerful shower. Central. Good for price.
Review 24:Nothing I didn't like.
Review 25:Cute little hotel right in the centre of town so you are close to everything you could want to do. The staff were absolutely brilliant, very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the bed in particular was very comfortable. The shower was excellent because it was powerful and hot. If I were to stay in the area again then I would stay here again.
Review 26:Parking was a bit .. fun
Review 27:Staff incredibly helpful! Had a plan for my partner with secret flowers and the staff arranged them and put them in a vase for me. Couldn't have asked for more!
Review 28:I stay here once a month when passing through on business. Always a nice stay. Very basic but rooms are clean and comfortable. Much cheaper than most places of a similar standard. Staff are always friendly and there are plenty of places to eat around.
Review 29:bed, the mattress sunk in the middle. noise from road, bath panel was damaged and bathroom needed just a general better clean around the shower and taps
Review 30:central location, helpful staff,
Review 31:The noise from the street was not good, clearly due to the old single sash window. Was woken by road cleaners very early!
Review 32:The room was comfortable, and very clean.
Review 33:Could not leave my window open at night because I had a room opening onto a court yard and there was a gate which should have been kept locked but was left open by the construction? workers in other rooms. The gate led out into a back alley and I heard squabbling at night between the staff from the restaurants backing onto the alley. Also smells noise from the restaurant fans so my room was stuffy. There was no wardrobe, only a strange hanging frame no hangeo -I had to drape my business suits across these by the shoulders and folded my shirts in a drawer where they got creased by the end of week.
Review 34:Nice staff, clean room, central position in town with choice of places to eat.
Review 35:Noisy other guests kept coming in and out throughout the day, not the hotels fault though!!
Review 36:Clean, friendly and a great location! This is our third stay!
Review 37:Bathroom filthy. There was soap & used hair & body wash left by the shower. Skid marks & poo in the toilet. Dirty towel left in the bathroom.Scum mark round the bath. Cracked.& chipped cups on the tea tray, dirty saucers tea or coffee stains on them. Bed springs gone in the middle of the bed, so we were rolling into each other all night. Very very noisy. Even the owners accommodation across the hallway showed no respect for residents. They were talking & laughing very loudly, that by the last night I had to shout out for them to be quiet. It was Rediculous!!! Out of the 4 nights we stayed there I'd be lucky if I managed one hours sleep a night. We come down to Yeovil at least 2 or 3 times a year & I can honestly say that I've never stayed in such low standard accommodation & its somewhere I'll never go back to. And I can honestly say that I'm so glad to be home
Review 38:Ground floor room
Review 39:The double room was actually a single room with a double bed with limited space to move around the room. There was not enough space to place your belongings with no hooks anywhere, including the bathroom. Once we complained about the size of the room we had to go as far as contacting booking.com to help us resolve the problem and be relocated.
Review 40:Find it amazing that being a town centre location no attempt has been made to up the standard of the glazing. The other half of our party were in the rooms at the rear of the property, smelled dirty, and the paintwork on the windows was flaking off. If the beds were not water beds then they were doing a good impression. Asked for extra milk, and was told we don't do that, you only get what was left in the room. My tea mug tasted like it had been dipped in beef fat for some reason. Signs of mould in the shower.
Review 41:Not a lot I'm afraid. A lot of work would have to be done to convince me of ever returning
Review 42:Occasional noise from nearby hostel but didn't interrupt sleep
Review 43:Very clean and good value for money. Although breakfast not included very close to local areas serving breakfast within a few metres of front door.
Review 44:Got a little hot in the room but due to being at the front on the road no Windows to open but not a real problem
Review 45:Cleanliness,price,friendliness of staff and location all in all very good value for money
Review 46:The bathroom is a bit 'tired' and some stuff is at that 'clean but looks dirty' stage. But nothing to put me off when the price was so good!
Review 47:Great location. I was worried being on a ground floor with single glazing, but I needn't have worried! Staff were lovely and when leaving I needed a taxi and none of the main companies where available. The girls at the desk where amazing and used their local contacts to help! Something that saved us a long (dangerous) walk and a missed train
Review 48:It's a value for money hotel which my wife and I have stayed at four times now so that tell you something, and we'll stay there next time we visit Yeovil. We have no problem recommending the hotel to anyone else.
Review 49:Bed was so uncomfortable I laid down and then boyfriend laid down and we fell into the middle. Needed a new mattress
Review 50:The room was spacious clean bathroom lovely
Review 51:Very noisy due to Italian restaurant chefs yabbering late into the night. Free WiFi?? Couldn't connect due to poor signal at top of hotel. Power shower?? No way. Overall not great............ did the job but wouldn't use this hotel again.
Review 52:Just wished that breakfast was included, but we managed to find some nearby, so it was not too much of a problem.
Review 53:We very much liked the room give to us. The space was generous and decor agreeable. Everything was very clean.
Review 54:Room warm so when windows open COOKING smells from near by restaurant kitchens came in ..... But hotel provided a small fan that helped.
Review 55:Good sized room, had given prior warning of needs that were fully met
Review 56:The walls are paper thin and I could hear reception staff starting work at 6am from my bed. Also could hear housekeeping staff chatting to each other from 8am through the walls
Review 57:The hotel is very central and accessible, reception staff are very friendly and helpful and it was great value for money.
Review 58:My partner said the taps were dirty but that's being really picky. I thought it was all very nice.
Review 59:The room was bright and fresh perfect for a one night stay lots of things to do very close food cinema bowling etc. Excelent value for money ! Free bottled water was a nice touch !!
Review 60:The Bed, Dirty dusty room, smell of cigarettes when you came into the entrance, dirty mugs, mould and chips in the bath and crude repair to bath room door, plus stains on carpet and curtains and mould growing up the divan.
Review 61:Location
Review 62:No Bad experience but bathroom was a bit small
Review 63:Location of the hotel right next to eating places & town center, excellent treatment by receptionist, easy check in & checkout, good size room, all basic amenities provided. Overall 4 out of 5 score
Review 64:Cold shower. I understand a plumber was coming out later the day we left but surely a plumber can be called on 24 hrs a day for a hotel ?
Review 65:Staff are pleasant the price is cheap for a shirt overnight business stay
Review 66:Only the manger could help, room was filthy and smelly, for one whole day there was no hot water, and the cleaning staff didn't change the sheets which needed to be changed
Review 67:Staff helped to placate us but didn't really resolve the problem
Review 68:Excellent parking facilities across the road that are free between 6pm and 9am. Also the hotel is on the doorstep to local bowling ally, cinema and all the eating and drinking facilities you could wish for without the noise. Highly recommended.
Review 69:No breakfast but close to retail park with a really good Frankie & Benny's. Looked run down and in need of a deep clean and refurbishment.
Review 70:Staff very friendly, had the basics of what you need, nothing more
Review 71:Nothing whole experience was not good.poor conditions bathro not safe due to space would be better if shower cubicle was fitted
Review 72:Nothing cups were dirty when we returned not washed, shortage of towels
Review 73:I was wary beforehand having requested an early check in to be told it would be an extra £10. Understandable given the cleaning costs of the room but I decided not to take the option.
Review 74:Upon arrival, the staff were very amiable and helpful and the room was lovely and well worth the price.
Review 75:Booked the room over 3 months ago got given our room keys on arrival proceeded to the room to find it was already in use luckily the guests weren't in there at the time got moved to another room which was dingy to say the least rusty towel rail enamel chips out of the bath black mould around selant on the bath and sink and shower head and the view from the window looked like to local tip we said £119 for two nights the standard was well below par a waste of £119 we have stayed in a premier Inn before for two nights at £45 a night the room and facilities at the premiere inn were of a lot higher standard would not stay at city lodge again the only positive thing we can say is location was good and staff polite and friendly
Review 76:Staff were polite and friendly
Review 77:The bed was fine and not to bad value bt really stressful gettin ready in the morning as the room was boiling as it was especial after a bath as the extractor didn't work So the steam was lingering. Normaly would open a window to solve this bt it was perfectly cruch hight and ther was a sort of youth centre rite outside the window so the could see all as the wer having morning ciggerette!!! Most annoying
Review 78:The location is good a
Review 79:Poor maintenance. Paint of the ceiling and walls was coming off. window locker lever was damaged(brocken). Very easy to break into the ground floor rooms.
Review 80:friendly staff. I felt very welcome
Review 81:The staff that booked me in totally ignored my request for a quiet room booking my in a room next to the road and being a light sleeper....this stay turned out to be my worst ever and was not happy!
Review 82:Probably our fault as asked for a quiet room but room not up to your usual standard as bathroom and window need attention
Review 83:always clean and fresh and friendly staff
Review 84:The only bad thing was that you had to use a public pay and display car park and the free WiFi Wasn't working
Review 85:The staff were nice and helpful. Room was clean. It was a nice little touch that you get biscuits and bottled water as well as coffee and tea making facility's. I didn't expect that from a room I played 45 pounds for .shower was good too :)
Review 86:Nothing at all!
Review 87:Great location in an ideal location opposite a restaurant and entertainment complex. Friendly staff and lovely warm room. Room wasn't spacious at all but space wasn't necessary so that was ok. Good facilities in the room and very comfy bed! High recommended!
Review 88:Privacy of room, as fellow residence (above) staying were inconsiderate at 6:30am having a loud conversation, banging, dragging things around the room which disturbed my sleep. Then to top it off the fire alarm went on and off twice, which didn't half make me jump (good job I have no heart conditions). Not having proper designated parking, although there is the public car park across the road but have to pay for.
Review 89:The room was spot on for my purpose. The bed was really comfortable and managed to get two great night sleeps. The shower was great with plenty of power coming out of the shower head, leaving me feeling clean and refreshed. Staff at reception were very polite and gave a warm welcome on arrival and a sound farewell when departing. Facilities to hang clothes up instead of living out of suitcase, which can leave clothes creased. Great location as it is a minute walk to Wetherspoons, pizza hut, Frankie and Bennies. All in all I would recommend the 'City Lodge' to anyone. I will definitely be booking to stay at the 'City Lodge' in 2015.
Review 90:Bed was way too soft, woke up with back ache, we both ended up in a dip in middle of the bed it was so soft,
Review 91:Lovely rom , spotlessly clean, lovely shower .
Review 92:V Noisy staff in the morning fire alarm going off 3 times during the night lack of parking facilities although you can park at the bowlplex you have to make sure you buy a ticket after 9 am maybe an agreement with the hotel would be nice No breakfast choice
Review 93:Liked the bed and facilities and location
Review 94:Everything was fine. It is true that you get what you pay for, but in this case, you get much more than you expect - in a good way! It's a great place to stay.
Review 95:In need of redecoration although still ok, more ventilation on ground floor
Review 96:Location, apples and biscuits provided with tea making facilities, friendly staff, value for money
Review 97:The bathroom was a bit dated and the toilet flush made the whole room shake.
Review 98:Excellent water pressure, hostess tray and big comfortable single beds. The staff were pleasant and very helpful even after a very late check in.
Review 99:No complaints - fire alarm went off in middle of night. Dealt with swiftly and we didn't have to evacuate.
Review 100:Comfortable,quiet and excellent drinks/welcome tray.
Review 101:My one and only complaint was the mattress on the double bed. It was so soft that when my daughter sat on it I rolled towards her...and she is much lighter than me! I did speak with the lovely manager on reception the following morning about this. Nothing to do with the hotel but thought I would just add this, we ate at Frankie & Benny's across the road...wouldn't recommend it. Food wasn't cooked thoroughly and was luke warm!
Review 102:Room was great, I booked the twin as I had my teenage daughter with me. The room was big with a double and single beds. Room was great and the staff (manager, reception and housekeeping) extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Good value for money.
Review 103:Noisy (road noise) if windows opened, no towel rail in bathroom, limited hanging space.
Review 104:Clean, tidy, functional. More than we had expected from a 'mature' centrally located hotel. Ideal for overnight or weekend stay in Yeovil. Excellent selection of standard eateries right on the door step.
Review 105:They don't have their own car park, which isn't too much of a bother for an overnight stay as there is a large pay and display car park immediately opposite which is free after 6pm.
Review 106:A brilliantly centred hotel in Yeovil, next to the fabulous Tamburino's and immediately opposite the cinema and diners, yet, surprising quiet. Tea and coffee making facilities, plus biscuits and an apple each in the room... amazing considering the budget price! We will be staying there again!
Review 107:Room & bedding was clean. Unfortunately there was a used hand/body wash on shower soap dish from previous client. Otherwise everything else was value for money
Review 108:Near to Sherborne where we were heading. Close to town centre.
Review 109:Cleaners disturb customers in the morning several hours before check out time.Staff do not make an effort to show appreciation. My room not prepared properly on second night .on third night room not prepared at all infact the bed was not made and room not cleaned at all.
Review 110:Rooms are clean and physical facilities good.price decent.
Review 111:Nothing, twas marvellous (plus i was too drunk to notice anything that wasn't good...)
Review 112:Good room Massive bathroom Friendly staff Generally good location (with bars/pubs, restaurants, etc)
Review 113:Only that theres no parking but u can park across the road in big car park thats free after 6pm
Review 114:In the centre of Yeovil with plenty of restaurants close by. Comfy bed, bath and shower. 3rd time i've stayed, good for price
Review 115:The staff were so friendly and very helpful. The location was excellent...close to all immenities but far enough away to be quiet. Clean room, large comfy bed, a bath and blackout curtains what more can you ask for!!
Review 116:There was nothing to dislike. the staff were lovely and all was excellent and great value for money.
Review 117:Very clean and tidy rooms. Lovely bathroom and shower. Fantastic WiFi. very nice and quiet.
Review 118:The room looked rather grubby. I felt uncomfortable walking on the carpets without shoes and was terrified to touch the curtains incase they infected me. While street noise is expected it was as if the street was in the room.... double glazing required.
Review 119:Staff were friendly enough, 24 hour reception, good location, free wifi, ironing boards available to use, tv with free view, quirky layout - there wasn't a lift but the quirky layout was exciting.
Review 120:Bit too hot
Review 121:The hotel staff were excellent, very helpful and polite. Although no restaurant facilities, there were endless places to eat and drink on the doorstop.
Review 122:bed slightly on the small side for two tall people, but minor complaint some traffic noise but to be expected in central location - didn't stop sleep
Review 123:Clean room, friendly staff, central location, no breakfast option, good nearby cafes (we recommend coffee #1 on the main street, rather than the adjacent 'That Place), handy gym over the road
Review 124:The room had no privacy from the outside world, a half net or voile would have done, as you looked straight out over Pizza Hut and they could see in! There was no telephone or clock and the bathroom had mould in the corner of the bath and the taps in the sink, the shower runner and the bath were covered in limescale; the rack that the towels were on was rusty and there was hair in the draws - not impressed. I am a housekeeper for a holiday cottage in Cornwall and therefore was not impressed with this room. There was also no breakfast provided but bruised apples were left on the welcome tray.
Review 125:The bed was clean and comfortable and the welcome tray well stocked.
Review 126:There was mold and mildew in the shower .went to the store and bought bleach to clean it. No washcloths or hand towels were furnished, so went to store and purchased some. The carpet was dirty and old and needed cleaning or replacing. The curtain was old and dirty.
Review 127:I liked the size of the room. Location was good, close to restaurants and shopping. The staff was helpful and friendly. The wifi was excellent and the TV excellent. Bed was comfortable and slept very well.
Review 128:The window was wedged open and had a broken handle so couldn't be closed. Numerous people could be heard talking, shouting, parrying, even coughing through the night. I had to be up at 0430 and only managed about one hour of sleep. This made my 6 hours of driving the following day so difficult that I had to sleep in the car at a roadside stop. This is unacceptable for any standard of accommodation. I've complained to the Manager via email and am still awaiting for someone being bothered enough to reply.....
Review 129:The receptionist on check-in & the night staff were courteous and tried to be helpful
Review 130:Information from the helpful staff, was elicited not proactive, and yet made such a positive difference, the car paring refunds for example. A deal with the restuarants for breakfast and a stamping facility with the car park would have prolonged our stay in Yeovil
Review 131:Location suited our purpose very well, coupled with a good service for the price of the room. The nearby restuarants were excellent, a feature that could be indicated on the website.
Review 132:Late night noise from other residents - woken at 3am by very drunk people smoking in the courtyard right outside the room - designated area. So cheap hotel used by louts. Early check in fee. No need for that just leaves bad feeling. Room not cleaned because cleaners come at a specific time and if you're in the room they leave it
Review 133:Wi fi
Review 134:Cobwebs on ceiling ,dirty curtains, stained carpet, dirty old chair fit for the tip, old lamps, mould round the shower would have said forget it but it was to late to go anywhere else and we had already paid. Do not take your wife she will not like it.
Review 135:Not much only the price which shows you get what you pay for.
Review 136:No window in room ( but did give us a fan), no parking ( but plenty of car parks nearby)
Review 137:Location excellent, clean room, smoking area outside door(ground),friendly receptionist on arrival
Review 138:When i walked into the room the heat was incredible. I opened both windows fully and had to jam one open with a teaspoon! I returned to the room about 3 hours later and it was only slightly cooler. I had probably the most uncomfortable nights sleep ever due to the temperature of the room. The 6" desk fan just made it more like being in a fan assisted oven rather than a regular oven! Air conditioning will be a major consideration when i make my next hotel choice!
Review 139:Location was good, right in the middle of all leisure places. Hotel and room was clean.
Review 140:Furniture, carpet and fittings cheap and cheerful and not really hotel quality
Review 141:Central location, reception manned 24/7 by helpful staff, nice sized rooms
The Fine Print
Please note - The hotel does not accept American Express.Guests should be aware that breakfast is not available.
