Reviews for Lyndon House
Review 1:The overall décor is a little dated. rooms away from the road are best.
Review 2:The location and quality of both food and the pub are this hotels greatest assets
Review 3:Rooms are a little dated and could do with updating - bathroom had missing tiles.
Review 4:Good breakfast facilities and helpful staff. We were able to leave our luggage in a safe room before check in no problem.
Review 5:Not explained some rooms not actually in Hotel so were down the driveway in a different building altogether On check in weren't told any information about breakfast, checkout etc just given keys. Soundproofing was very poor so live music kept us awake as well as clearly being able to hear other guests in their rooms even just clearing their throat
Review 6:Ideally located for where we were going that night.
Review 7:Friendly staff. Car parking available (either alongside the hotel or in a public car park alongside). Close to the Wheatsheaf pub which has a good open mic night on the last Tuesday of each month.
Review 8:Requested car parking on the booking, but no space on arrival. Shower attached to bath taps and the pressure was too much for the shower head, which wanted to put water anywhere except where you wanted it.
Review 9:Well received, pleasant staff and overall value for money.
Review 10:Heating went off during the night in a stone building, ragged towels, damaged bath surround gave an unkept feel, with a little time and effort could easily be improved
Review 11:Friendly staff, nothing to much trouble, quirky and interesting surroundings, buildings and decor
Review 12:Unfortunately despite appearing clean the room smelt very bad, like stale takeaway food, the sheets were worn & the towels provided were badly worn, stained & contained rips & holes.
Review 13:Staff were very friendly & accommodated my late arrival after a long day of travelling.
Review 14:The hotel was well situated for access to the town and the staff were very well informed about the surrounding area. The rooms were of a good size and the breakfast was excellent. Evening meal was also available at a reasonable cost.
Review 15:It needs decoration, some of the wallpaper in our room was peeling off the walls but to be honest I wasn't bothered about it
Review 16:It was cheap but dated but for the price I can't complain. . Bed was comfortable. Room was clean breakfast was lovely and staff nice&polite
Review 17:The pillows were stained. The bed throw was threadbare in places. Sheets had not been ironed. TV was very small.
Review 18:Staff were friendly. Food was ok in the bar.
Review 19:I had a wonderful large room with four-poster bed but there was a lot of traffic noise. Take your ear-plugs!
Review 20:Ken and his team are always welcoming, helpful and professional. Walsall's best value and best-located town centre hotel
Review 21:staff friendly atmosphere in the bar was great ,like stepping back in time 20 years when pubs were regular meeting places and this is the first time a hotel or B&Bhas got me dairy free spread thank you see you in november
Review 22:The electric kettle for tea was not clean inside and rusted mettle particles were mixing with boiled water.
Review 23:Cooperative staff, good location and quiet premises
Review 24:The bathroom was dated with only a shower head attached to bath taps. Very small space. No bedside cabinet. Bedroom decor was bare bricks and dark it did not feel comfortable.
Review 25:The location was handy for my onward journey.
Review 26:furnishing that wern,t repaired . bed-stool . endless stair,s to different levels
Review 27:the use of furnishings from another time . adding something to the place. food and drink good
Review 28:What a dreadful and over-priced place? How on earth can anyone run such an establishment and NOT PROVIDE HOT WATER for it's guests is beyond my comprehension? I know that 3 days following my arrival, other guests checked in and then checked right back out again because of the LACK of hot water. Having already fully paid in cash upon my arrival, I unfortunately could do nothing about this, but remained without hot water for '4' out of the 5 days of my stay. These disgusting people have no regard for their customers and are likely to 'fob' you off with lies 'about having informed the plumber to return and switch the hot water back-up again, having ADMITTEDLY turned it down?' _Yes the same hot water which (incidentally) was readily available on the day of my arrival until they decided to reduce the temperature to 'tepid' in order to save a few pennies (no doubt) due to the 'sparse' guests at the hotel. Although I had fully paid for bed and breakfast on check-in, I chose NOT to consume anything, as I did not wish to contract E. coli from anyone preparing food, having (I assume) NOT WASHED THEIR HANDS WITH 'HOT' WATER (which was lacking) or maintained a clean area for food preparation!Had I not fully paid in cash upon arrival at the hotel, I'd have checked right back out again and so spared myself of laying on an entirely filthy sweat-stained bedding, or,the use of an unclean bathroom from the previous guest, of which I cleaned of their used toiletries and the dirty bath tub. Be prepared also for the GRUBBY TORN CARPET THROUGHOUT THE BATHROOM... What on earth is carpet doing in a bathroom anyway and within an hotel at that? Add to this also, an extremely filthy kettle which I had to have replaced; including a hairdryer and iron which didn't work.
Review 29:NOTHING To Like!
Review 30:A glorified B&B without the breakfast unless u hit the dining room before 09.45 Got locked out going for a smoke & growled at by the cleaner. No reception...just 1 girl running round trying to do everything, a right shambles!!
Review 31:Slept well
Review 32:The room (superior) was a bit tired. The pillow cases did not match. The 'canopy' on the four poster bed was detached in several places. The inside of the windows were grubby and the carpet, though clean, was very fades and would benefit from a deep clean. There was no decaffeinated tea or coffee.
Review 33:All the staff were friendly and helpful, although nobody could direct us to the Methodist Hall (150 yards away) where the funeral was to take place! My request for fresh milk was greeted with a smile and the immediate production of a jug from the bar fridge, 10 out of 10.
Review 34:Very welcoming staff. Good clean and well appointed establishment. Excellent bar with great atmosphere and good ales. All finished off with one of the best English breakfasts I have had in years. Overall excellent value.
Review 35:The TV was very, very small. The bed spread had a tear in it, but otherwise everything worked and the price was right.
Review 36:We had a very nice stay. The room was quiet enough and the full English breakfast was really good. The price was good too.
Review 37:Downside not kids friendly, however they accepted after some discussion at the checking in. Their was a family next door fighting in the middle of the night and slamming the door all the time for an good hour. However the reception was not covered a night so you had to accept the shouting and slamming of the doors next room to us. Would I stay again probably not with my daughter but for a weekend out with the lads yeah.
Review 38:Very nice ambience in an old fashiond pub hotel, Very friendly staff;)
Review 39:I´m very sensitive to noise and I could hear the murmur of a TV in another room at night but this is pretty standard everywhere, and it didn´t go on too late
Review 40:Pleasant staff, clean, everything was good for the price it was
Review 41:Stayed in the Annex, next to the Hotel. Quiet, Rustic Wood Panelled Room with 4 Poster Bed. Located in the Town Centre close to ASDA., which is open 24hr.
Review 42:TV has big as a postage stamp. Bed clothes smelt of stale water. Breakfast, 1/2 tomato, 1 mushroom, 2 small chipolta sausages,, worst breakfast ever.
Review 43:Nothing
Review 44:The breakfasts were of very high quality. The wi fi was a very good connection and there was a friendly bar downstairs. The Sunday carvery was very good.
Review 45:Un-ironed bed linen, lumpy mattress, dust everywhere, could write on muck on dressing mirror. Stained throw and sham pillows, filthy bedside tablecloth. Dirty jacuzzi jets, grey (supposed to be white) bath towels. Broken light fittings, wires hanging out of the wall. Bathroom door did not close. Informed reception expecting flower delivery, they sent florist away. Florist called me. Booked for 2 nights, left after 1, have photos of faults.
Review 46:Tasty breakfast, good ingredients, but forgot to put eggs on my plate. Good wifi coverage.
Review 47:We arrived too late to eat, as the kitchen closes at 9pm. This isn't really a complaint as it does have to close. But we cannot comment on the food. You may want to ask for a quiet room if you intend to go to bed early.
Review 48:This is a nice pub with a wide range of real ales and rooms. The welcome from the staff was very friendly. It is extremely central and you can easily walk into the centre.
Review 49:The decor is starting to look a little faded here and there. A low-key make-over should be sufficient to restore the hotel to its full potential.
Review 50:I always look forward to staying here. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the town centre and railway station are not far away.
Review 51:~The staff were very helpful and friendly. the bedroom was very comfortable and they provided extra pillows if needed and iron and hairdryer in the room along with drink facilities.
Review 52:Even though I stayed only one night, I can't really think of anything that I didn't like about my stay there.
Review 53:I liked the friendly staff. Room was clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend the Lyndon Hotel to anyone who wish to stay there.
Review 54:If you do not like a room with character then don't stay here. The room was quite old and shower took forever to heat up.
Review 55:Nice, cosy room that had everything I needed for a short stay. Breakfast was excellent, full English with eggs, toast etc. This was included within the room rate. Staff were very nice and helpful. It was an easy 10 minute walk from the train station.
Review 56:On one of the nights there was sound of music coming to the room as there was live music downstairs. I could have gone down to enjoy it but unfortunately was working next morning hence had to sleep early. No wifi signal in room.
Review 57:Good experience overall.
Review 58:The decor is tired and needs attention. Some bathroom fittings are in need of replacement.
Review 59:Quiet bedroom, comfortable firm bed, good shower, good breakfast. Friendly staff. Pleasant pub attached.
Review 60:TV requires some TLC . . . or replacing. Parking limited. Heating goes off late at night . . . room can get cold.
Review 61:Comfortable room, hot water, huge breakfast.
Review 62:Toilet filling long time . does need proper parking for all guests or arrange special price at car park next door as limited spaces at the hotel
Review 63:Accommodation good breakfast very nice. Friendly staff.
Review 64:I have been visiting this hotel/pub for many years... It has a rare relaxed local vibe where folks laugh and drink .. Ken is the ringmaster owner and is typically seated at the bar.. Free rounds of sandwiches common... It has a very specific charm you can tune into
Review 65:The music was very loud on the Saturday night although it didn't disturb us too much
Review 66:Breakfast was great and a cavery was saved for us for when we got back to the hotel on Sunday evening
Review 67:My room was situated above a bar that didn't close until midnight and I was rudely awakened by the drayman throwing barrels into the cellar outside my window at 6.30 am! The shower whilst hot, trickled from a tiny shower head, so not an invigorating start to the day.
Review 68:Good, friendly staff. Room was warm and the TV and WiFi worked! It's not bad at £35, but I wouldn't pay £50.
Review 69:The room was a little cold and quite dark as there were only wall lights and only 1 bedside light was working. Despite being overlooked by a busy office, the bathroom windows, and one of the bedroom windows do not have nets and not frosted. Traffic can be quite loud as the hotel is on a busy junction.
Review 70:The food in the pub downstairs is lovely. The room was ENORMOUS with a 4 poster bed in the bedroom and a whirlpool bath in the bathroom. Very traditionally decorated. Lovely, friendly staff. Excellent wi-fi Can't comment on breakfast as I had to leave early, but I bet I missed a treat based on the evening food! 2 minutes drive from my workplace
Review 71:Do not be fooled by the exterior, which is good anyway, to have a room with a four poster bed and spa bath was a bonus- completely unexpected. Polite, efficient staff - couldn't ask for more. Thank you.
Review 72:Being put in the buildind next to the hotel, very small room and you can here people talking in the room above
Review 73:The breakfast has improved now it is a buffet
Review 74:Very limited parking facilities on site. No evening meals at a weekend.
Review 75:If you like modern furniture and fittings this isn't for you but if you like a bit of old fashioned charm you will find your stay most agreeable.
Review 76:Nothing but there again it is my kind of place.
Review 77:Very characterful place with excellent beers, good food and very nice staff. Will definitely stay again. Don't stay here if you are looking for a modern plastic hotel.
Review 78:Was on front of the building near road which made for a little noise also in the peak of xmas party season revellers were a little loud leaving but I was also staying here after a xmas party (which couldn't of been as good as the one downstairs as I was tucked up an hour before theirs finished )so didn't mind too much.
Review 79:Large clean room, king size bed, plenty of clothing storage space
Review 80:Hotel full so no parking facilities. Had to get up at 7am to feed the meter in the public car park
Review 81:Rooms were dated but with character and very comfortable
Review 82:The decor could be a bit more up to date in rooms , and the shower head was tie wrapped to the water pipe which made it impossible to adjust !! Appart from that it was perfect !
Review 83:A warm and friendly welcome , a well heated clean room , entertainment is really good , the bar /pub really friendly with a wide choice of real ales n spirits , overall a really nice place to stay !
Review 84:Creaking floorboards in bedroom. Parking limited. Breakfast is good . . . if you want full English. Otherwise, it is a bit limited in choice. Staff don't appear to be overly affable, except for the nice breakfast lady!
Review 85:For a town location, it is surprisingly quiet. Some lovely old rooms. Plenty of hot water. Good breakfast.
Review 86:Noise from main road (no double glazing) No proper shower in room
Review 87:Location Décor Evening food was good vfm Beer great Pub welcoming Breakfast hot and quick
Review 88:I imagine parking could be an issue if hotel full.
Review 89:nice clean hotel in excellent position close to Walsall town centre. Excellent pub bar and very good breakfast ( could do with an upgrade on the sausages though)
Review 90:I not impressed with the comfort level of beds. The room decour needs updating such as bed sheets, spread and draperies. Rooms may be in need of a re paint.
Review 91:I like rustic charm and friendly atmosphere. I came and went as I pleased and loved the convenience of close proximity to the town and market. I'm pleased to see the exterior painted front.
Review 92:VERY small TV screen. Didn't get to sleep until 3.30AM as there was a very loud disco in the hotel until 2.00AM with a lot of banging noises when it finished. Had to be up at 6.00AM so not good.
Review 93:Great staff, good location, comfortable room. Had to leave early so not time for breakfast but staff left me a packed lunch which I collected on Sunday morning. Nice touch!
Review 94:The owner, Ken, the manager, Kelly, and the receptionists were super nice. Excellent customer services. Well located and pleasant place. I stayed in room 207 which has a marvelous huge bed!
Review 95:Limited car parking on-site. Couldn't gain access to main hotel if main door was locked, even with key supplied for that purpose. Breakfast area was 'bare'. Only one member of staff on breakfast duty so I wasn't served for a while and short of time due to alternative parking arrangements.
Review 96:The "superior" room was lovely. Very quiet at night. Plenty of hot water.
Review 97:The staff at reception where not helpful and did not even realise I was booked in as they had booked someone else into my room.
Review 98:Housekeepers,left me alone as I work nights and left extra towels and tea/coffee/sugar,a credit.
Review 99:I am vegan would have expected at least veggie sausages and veggie bacon AS DA sell it I'll bring next time I don't have butter but there was no margarine no milk or non dairy yoghurt. There was a very noisy fan outside my room on all night I didn't sleep.
Review 100:Friendly atmosphere signage to bedrooms room
Review 101:Bathroom dated, a proper shower would be useful, it's basically a handheld one attached to a pole. TV was very small also.
Review 102:Friendly staff, decent location, lovely historic building. Breakfast was prompt and plentiful, free newspapers to read a bonus. The pub seemed a great place to spend a few hours.
Review 103:wanted to pop over for dinner but bar full up so had to walk into town tv was "minute" and unless looked at head on was unwatchable due to shadowing bathroom a bit small [ but I am quite a big bloke]
Review 104:Location to Town Center The room in the annex The staff
Review 105:Fantastic service. Nothing too much trouble with friendly staff all the way. The hotel has a lively bar in the evening and again, all the locals made us feel very welcome. Will definitely stay again when visiting.
Review 106:Just a bit sparse on the parking front. That's all really. For the price it is really good!
Review 107:It was in the centre and not far from where we were off for a drink and a meal. This is 'quirky' hotel and although it says the rooms were refurbushed in 1996 , I would put it at late 70's! Having said this. I do like hotels like this. That is, individual! No bad thing in my mind. And it was very clean. I love it and will stay there again when I am in Walsall. Breakfast was really good also. A basic large fry up - brilliant!
Review 108:very dated facilities, no fan or air conditioning unit, quite pricey, the room I got was HAUNTED!!!
Review 109:central location, excellent accomodating staff, beautiful building to look at from outside, excellent wifi, coffee and tea making facilities
Review 110:Only one towel in room for 2. Bathroom very small, shower wasn't high enough for a tall person. Television very small.
Review 111:Location. Very large cooked breakfast.
Review 112:Lovely stay, couldn't fault the hotel, very welcoming. Lovely decor and breakfast. our room was excellent. Would definitely recommend the hotel to friends.
Review 113:Brewery delivery at 7.00am. This was out of the control of the pub.
Review 114:The staff made us feel very welcome. One of the finest real pubs comes as part of the package. The breakfast arrangements worked well. All in all, we had a great time!
Review 115:Difficult getting in and out of car park
Review 116:Good food and selection of neers
Review 117:None
Review 118:Very cosy, warm, nice atmosphere. Traditional furnishings. Very friendly staff, particularly owner who is always extremely helpful
Review 119:Decor was a tad dated
Review 120:Great staff - nice busy pub
Review 121:Everything
Review 122:Staff
Review 123:Great location, very friendly staff
Review 124:Warm , comfortable room, friendly staff, great breakfast. Would stay again next time I need to be in Walsall.
Review 125:Room needs a little updating and TLC
Review 126:Location and value for money
Review 127:Staff good, nice bar, great breakfast
Review 128:The room and staff
Review 129:Great little cheap place to stay. Not much better around for the price.
Review 130:Loud bass music
Review 131:Hot water
