Reviews for Ramada Crawley-Gatwick
Review 1:The room was tired and in need of upgrading. The bathroom had the towel rail missing with just the connection pipes sticking up out of the floor which could cause somebody with poor sight an injury. The room was clearly for a disabled person, which I am not. They used the disable arm in the bathroom as a towel rail. I suggest that the room be redecorated and repaired. On checking out I was not asked about my stay and if everything was OK. Had I have been asked I would have told them. There was not even a survey form to complete. Based on the above 'Would I stay there again'. Probably not. There are plenty of other hotels in the area to choose from.
Review 2:Good location
Review 3:TV didn't work, chap came to look at it, twiddled the same cables I had and told me it didn't work. Then went away. Woman on reception next morning said 'I'll make a note of that.' and that was it. No replacement/discount/gesture of apology. Floors are quite creaky so it can be a bit noisy when other guests are on the move.
Review 4:Excellent location right on the high street in Crawley, with a Prezzo pizza restaurant practically next door, and other options not much further away. Parking on site is free. Character inn, lovely old higgledy-piggledy building. Clean, comfortably furnished room, good firm bed.
Review 5:Embarrassing mark on toilet seat. Breakfast sausages tasted cheap - must be better local sources
Review 6:Location. Comfortable. Breakfast good apart from sausages
Review 7:Paper peeling off wall in my room. Being stuck 'outside' in a seperate annex. Almost all staff had a hard time cracking a smile. Except for night duty manager when I arrived, noone else made me feel in the least welcome. Shabby.
Review 8:Location excellent
Review 9:The matress was extremely uncomfortable and the tap in the bath dripped all night, Normally I take the attitude of where you lay your head but even that was disappointly ridiculous!
Review 10:It was a good location
Review 11:Hooligans running up and down the corridors at 2am claiming to be the police and trying for force themselves into our room.
Review 12:The location minutes away from the shopping centre and restaurants literally around the corner
Review 13:Heated towel rail was turned off on the ballofix isolating valve and judging by the scale around, it had been off for some time. Therefore bathroom was cold. Also the 'Mira' shower mixer seems to have been plumbed in back to front - turn towards the red (hotter) and it gets colder and vice-versa. Still, once you had discovered that it was a good shower.
Review 14:Comfortable room (402). Heating was off when we checked in so very cold, but by turning up the radiator and the electric heater it soon warmed up. Had a good breakfast - we didn't go mad but had enough to keep us going for the day. As my wife is a 'Brighton Girl, born and bred' she was delighted that we had the 'Prince Regent' room!!
Review 15:The fire alarm going off in the middle of the night for no reason, the bin lorry calling for the bins at 4:30am and the workmen making noise outside. The windows were inadequate and I could hear the rain and wind all night.
Review 16:The bed was comfortable
Review 17:The hotel is very very tired. The light in the bath room above the sink was broken and the shower mixer was hard to turn on. Room 282.
Review 18:Location was great with free parking.
Review 19:My room was not attended to one day but I found a laundry bag outside my door and I was told I had to do my own cleaning!!!!! Told by separate receptionists that that is the why the hotel works?????
Review 20:Location right in the town centre.
Review 21:Standard size double bed with too-small duvet. Needs upgrade to King-size.
Review 22:Location very central with good parking, with easy access to Gatwick Airport. Good-sized, well equipped room. Excellent breakfast with wide selection.
Review 23:Have stayed repeatedly at the George hotel and every stay, there has been some minor problem, broken bed chipped cups cold tap dripping all night, radiators working intermediatly
Review 24:Great location
Review 25:What I didn't like was that the room they gave as needed some minor repairs.
Review 26:I liked the location in which the hotel was as within minutes of shopping centers and restaurants.
Review 27:Paid for a room where the heating did not work the bed was so bad i had to sleep on the floor. the supplied coffee cups where chipped and cracked. When we informed the hotel , they offered complimentary breakfast for the following day, when we came down for this we where made to feel we where conning them and no breakfast was provided, Stayed many times at the hotel and it has definitely gone down hill in the last few years. I would not recommend the Greorge hotel to anyone apart from the location.
Review 28:The hotel is very well located and the staff are very freindly
Review 29:An Icelandic party in the two rooms adjacent to ours held a rowdy almost all-night party and kept slamming the fire escape door. Appeals by the night porter were fruitless. Our night rest was minimal.
Review 30:The bed was comfortable.
Review 31:Unfortunately it is not a hotel i would stay in unless out of absolute necessity. The style/look of hotel did not appeal to me.
Review 32:The gentleman working at the check-in desk was very helpful and pleasant.
Review 33:The matress in the bed was old and bad. I asked for something on top of it to prevent it from hurting me but nothing happened.
Review 34:The location and the price is resonable. Cleaning staff friendly.
Review 35:Central heating unessesarily on.As it was centrally controlled at reception we were unable to turn it off.Had we been able to open the windows would not have been such an issue. However once we reported it and staff realised how hot it had become the heating was immediately turned right down and we were offered a fan. Has not put us off returning
Review 36:Lovely sized room in the main building.spotlessly clean.
Review 37:Room was extremely hot even with radiator turned off.Dont know where the heat was coming from. Open the window and the noise from Saturday night revellers made it impossible to sleep. The car park at the rear of the hotel was fronted by a car wash business and the whole surroundings did not make us feel very secure. Hotel was run down and tired.
Review 38:close to town
Review 39:The weather. :)
Review 40:I loved this hotel. It's not the first time that I stayed here with my family. I recommend it to everyone. It doesn't come with frills and bows but as long as it is clean and the staff is helpful, that's all we need.
Review 41:Curtains falling off the rails no hooks to hook it back up. Mould around the bath not good
Review 42:Closeness to the town do like to be in walking distance. Rooms were roomy free parking breakfast was better than expected
Review 43:I assumed as this was a Ramada, then it would be to Ramada standards and did not check reviews. Car park very dark and does not feel secure Staff are a disgrace to Ramada. The hotel does have a bar and restaurant - receptionist on check in told me there was not one, but their were loads of places on High Street Wi Fi did not work properly Corridors damp and smelly Reception skinks of cigarette smoke as receptionist was smoking 6 inches outside with door open I think they forgot to vacuum the floor of my room Fan in bathroom sounded like a Boeing 747 and ran for ages Bathroom floor extremely slippery when dry Bed awful Room suddenly smelt of cigarette smoke around midnight. Shower plain dangerous as two knobs jammed together - turn it down and it will scald Not all light bulbs working in room I am sure there are more negatives I have forgotten Started to discuss some of above with a different belligerent receptionist in the morning. Very defensive e.g. If you open your window you get cigarette smoke in your room, nothing we can do (window was not open!). Not pleased to here they have no way of collecting guest feedback or complaints unless I email Ramada
Review 44:Leaving On a positive note it was convenient for High Street and quiet
Review 45:As a business traveller I selected this hotel as it advertised wifi but this was not available in my room. I reported this but the issue was not resolved and I was unable to work as planned from the room during the evening. I will not use this hotel again for this reason.
Review 46:Very loud people along the corridor late at night and into the early hours of the morning. (We did receive a full and comprehensive apology for this)
Review 47:Nice central location, friendly helpful staff
Review 48:Bit old furniture, bed not very comfortable.
Review 49:Good location , in town. Staff are friendly. But if u stay for the flight, I would recommend the royal manor premier Inn. The price is similar but the room there is better.
Review 50:Room was run down, desk lamp and bedside lamp didn't work with one containing a smashed light bulb. The bathroom contained several broken tiles and virtually no hot water. The shower controls were also broken. the hotel is cheap but still not really worth the money.
Review 51:Location is good, many pubs and restaurants nearby to choose from.
Review 52:Stayed twice within a week and stayed in different rooms..first room stayed for 2 nights Ok but a bit small and not much room, but clean..2nd time stayed for just 1 night..an excellent room very big (same price per night as the 1st one) space, bed very comfortable and very clean..in general excellent. Best hotel for location of the centre of Crawley with free car parking..Asda supermarket within a 2 minute walk
Review 53:bit dated, shame the bar & restaurant had been changed, and sub let out. The building we stayed in was dated, although clean and quiet.
Review 54:convenient for on-ward, journey
Review 55:Car parking was poor and insecure, first impression when you arrive is poor and the hotel appears to be used as a halfway house
Review 56:Clean and comfortable, relatively little outside noise in spite of the location
Review 57:I was ok and thats being nice typical indian managed hotel everything brought is the cheapest example irons from asda. The breakfast buffet used powdered eggs and vile cheap sausages.i can imagine it could be a charming property under correct ownership.I was concern with the lack of security no cctv and an unmaned entrance on a busy rough high street
Review 58:not enough tea and coffee in room staff in restaurant were not very helpful, walked in and were not told were anything was, would of been helpful if they had explained the procedure
Review 59:location was very good
Review 60:I have stayed in some places but this one takes the biscuit! I did not like how dirty the hotel is and the disrepair the building is in I nearly broke my ankle on the steps outside the Sussex wing, there is rubbish all over the place there is a hand carwash in the car park which is noisy as hell, and when I did finally get to sleep I was awakened by the local bars/clubs emptying their bottle bins, not to mention I could hear the person next door snoring and urinating in his own toilet to the point I actually thought he was in my toilet!!!!
Review 61:The location
Review 62:Our room was up 2 flights of stairs I have back problem so this was challenged and in block in the car park were there is a car wash which meant no rest in afternoon before we were going out it was awful. The noise from car wash was unbearable . The bed springs were gone and had the most awful night. No sleep. Then at 8.30am on a Sunday Morning The Car Wash People Were back shouting Laughing etc Before starting Car Washing At 9am. As it was the room was extremely hot but it was so noisy we couldn't have windows open . Our stay was just a nightmare. I ached so much that our family meal on the Sunday was cut short as I was in pain and so tired from no sleep.
Review 63:The staff I spoke to were helpful
Review 64:Bed was the worst we have ever slept in. Car wash outside our window started at 7.30am just after someone walked into our room while we were in bed!! Sink didn't drain, lamp was broken and very hot room with no fan !! Will never stay there again. When complaining staff couldn't care less
Review 65:Nothing
Review 66:Difficult for older guests to carry luggage to the rooms. Had to cross to an annex for breakfast.
Review 67:Location in the centre of Crawley and the cleanliness of the room, bedsheets and towels. It's a well maintained very old building.
Review 68:The hotel furnishings/decor is very dated but I feel that this is reflected in the price. Every time we've stayed at this hotel (and we come once a year, every year, visiting an elderly relative) our room has overlooked the car park and at 8 am every morning the privately run car wash business starts up with very noisy jet washers going constantly, even on Sundays!!!!
Review 69:The location of this hotel is excellent, being right bang in the centre of town, within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and shops.
Review 70:I was woken be a drunk at 2.00am trying to force entry to my room. He was insisting it was his room and ended up kicking the door. This was very frightening and he eventually left. I called reception and someone came to my room. I received no feed back from the hotel. I found it very difficult to sleep as more loud people we banging doors and shouting until the early hours. I assume the people we from night club closing. I would never return.
Review 71:location to town
Review 72:Noisy location. Lots of noise outside all through the night. Hotel itself was ok but very tired looking and not at all what we expected from a Ramada.
Review 73:Hotel manager was friendly.
Review 74:The lack of parking was an issue. Especially with a 2 1/2 and 6week old. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in!
Review 75:Liked the location and the breakfast. Had everything needed for an overnight stay.
Review 76:There is a bar attached to the hotel. Loud music until after midnight. Difficulty in parking the car as there is a car wash in the grounds.
Review 77:The hotel is in the centre of town. The room and bathroom were big and clean.
Review 78:All of the horrible place should be condemned the building we were put in
Review 79:So run down looked like a building that should have been condemned very poor and asked to cancel cause all the dust in our room they wouldn't do it very disappointed with this below average hotel
Review 80:Being a very old (listed building??) I found it quite hot and sticky during the night. It is possible to open the windows but being in a village setting there was outside noise so the windows were kept shut during sleep time.
Review 81:It was based right in a sort of village within a town, very nice to come out of the hotel and be right in the village. It had a small market on the day I stayed and it was good to walk around the many shops that were right there.
Review 82:The service at the reception was terrible. We had to wait over 15 minutes to check in as reception was unmanned and there wasn't any other staff around to speak to me. This wasn't a one off as any other time we needed reception, it was unmanned and no staff to be seen anywhere!
Review 83:No hotel bar. Big queue for the bar next door/attached. It would be nice for hotel residents to have priority to the pub
Review 84:Old hotel but spacious & clean. Despite being on the high street it was very quiet. Did not have breakfast so I can not comment
Review 85:Room was in an annex, that reminded us of student accommodation, there was a car valeting service in the rear yard by the hotel, very noisy early on, several workers staying at the hotel also.
Review 86:Location was very good for a night out in Crawley
Review 87:Nothing bad. Stay here every year I come home to the UK for a visit.
Review 88:Proximity to Gatwick airport. Ease of public transport to London or the coast. Very good shopping precinct just out the front door as well as a few excellent pubs, like The Jubilee Oak.
Review 89:Very creaky floorboards, and room was quite warm. Easy to open windows but as hotel situated in town centre there was a fair bit of noise.
Review 90:Spacious double room, comfortable big bed. Good breakfast. Welcoming reception staff very helpful as we had to rush to get to a wedding we were dealt with quickly & efficiently and taxi was booked for us. Thanks.
Review 91:The bed was horrendous, old, lumpy with a massive dip in the middle. Breakfast many years ago was a pleasure, nowadays it's reminiscent of a truckers cafe! Mugs, no cups and saucers, poor quality all round and not the choice expected of a Ramada.
Review 92:The location and the staff.
Review 93:Dirt peeling paint. Being told WiFi could take up to any an hour to connect the camping with a roof
Review 94:Not much very very old and Tatty needs a lot of work
Review 95:The bathroom has one of those shower heads up near the ceiling. I personally don't likethat.
Review 96:We liked the staff. We liked the room and the breakfast.
Review 97:Waiting to check in, man on reception engaged in a full scale argument with a customer - unnecessarily rude and aggressive. Set a very bad tone!
Review 98:Comfortable room, very good bed, clean bathroom, no frills but decent value for money
Review 99:Entire Sussex wing smells of fags so much so clothes stink upon return home, last 2 times I visit, fire alarm has gone off at 3 in morning probably due to people smoking in the night, this really needs sorting out
Review 100:Good location and price
Review 101:I asked to check in early as I arrived early. Response was as if I had verbally insulted a member of his family. Utter horror that I would ask something so outrageous as if my room was possibly ready before the 2pm check in time. I was told no, and had the feeling that even if the entire hotel was empty, he would still have refused this request.
Review 102:Location + price
Review 103:I was in a room in the annex and I had to complain about the mattress as the springs were coming through. The member of staff on reception was brilliant and changed my room without question. The room wifi signal kept dropping. The bedroom doors could also do with having a soft-close mechanism fitted as there was lots of banging doors in the early hours.
Review 104:Very cheerful staff, good selection of cooked food at breakfast and an excellent location in the heart of the town centre.
Review 105:The hotel is rated as 3 star which is probably fair. It just seems a shame that with some refurbishment & more staff, it could be so much more! There is no porter service. The rooms are too hot, the beds very small and the bathroom amenities are fixed to the wall (shampoo & soaps only). Bathrobes and slippers are not provided but the towels are clean & plentiful.
Review 106:The location is great for shopping & dining out, as the hotel is located directly in the town centre. On arrival, the receptionist was friendly & helpful when we asked to upgrade our room. The bed in the first room (standard) was too small. The deluxe room was large and came with an iron, ironing board, empty fridge & tea/ coffee facilities.
Review 107:Sharing the car park with the carwash bods. The close proximity of the empty building to the rear used by vagrants
Review 108:Clean comfortable room, excellent breakfast and free on-site car parking
Review 109:Ist room dirty toilet and light not working. Gave us a second room which stank of smoke; the shower curtain was dirty and the hall outside stank of bad drains
Review 110:The Wi Fi needs a password to give better security. Noisy guests in the night.
Review 111:Good location for me and good domestic services, great breakfast and staff. Good on line rates.
Review 112:No water pressure and broken knob on tap meant that I wasn't able to have a decent shower.
Review 113:I grew up in Crawley and this hotel is one of the landmarks of the town with a massive history, I was in town catching up with friends so took the opportunity to stay there. For my actual accommodation I was put out back in the Sussex Suite, A newer building, and not too nice from the outside, but the rooms were very nice and the furniture was in place with the overall hotel.
Review 114:I wasn't aware when I booked that the hotel doesn't have a bar or a restaurant. Breakfast is served in an annexe and is OK. Plenty of local bars and restaurants though
Review 115:Location, decent room
Review 116:dirt and cob webs in bathroom glass roof. have pictures.coming back from breakfast finding maid cleaning room.cheap breakfast ingredients.
Review 117:size of room
Review 118:Lamps out in bathroom and bedroom. No milk provided on second day Bathroom and bedroom furnishing and decor very tired and old.
Review 119:Convenient for the town centre, restaurants etc. Budget price.
Review 120:Central Heating has serious attitude. Turn the radiators off but your room retains it's Sauna like temperature! Open the windows to escape and all you get is the aromas of the local Chinese / Thai Restaraunts. Smells lovely, but no good to a man on a diet who can't sleep!
Review 121:Friendly staff, especially at Breakfast. Always remember me and my ponchant for white toast. Rooms nice and warm(all year round)
Review 122:Off-hand attitude of reception staff Dirty carpets, curtains off hooks and dented old furniture in the room. The annex is not connected to the main hotel via a covered walk-way- so take an umbrella if it is raining.
Review 123:Free wifi and good, central location with some parking
Review 124:Room was too hot in night and couldn't turn off radiator. Room and areas of hotel smelt strongly of damp.
Review 125:Location is good, right on high street. Free parking.
Review 126:Couldn't connect to WiFi,couldn't get a table at the restaurant as fully book even though we were told we didn't need to book, luckily we checked, so we managed to get a table at another restaurant.
Review 127:Value for money, we upgraded to a big room for only £10,room was lovely gentleman on reception was very welcoming and helpful
Review 128:I wanted to stay an extra hour the next morning, but it would have been an extra £15. Also no shower gel or rope to tie the bath robes
Review 129:I loved the location, the staff and the room were great.
Review 130:Always a good stay at The George in Crawley. We had a few friends from out of town visiting and the room we were given was spacious and separate from the main building. The staff are always friendly. The wifi is good.
Review 131:Smoking rooms are outside of the main hotel in the 'Sussex Wing' which was OK but noisy with people coming and going all through the night.
Review 132:Price and location. Other plus points ease of parking and a clean and tidy room.
Review 133:TV didn't work. Paper thin walls (could hear squeaking of the bed of amorous guests throughout the night) On entering the block it felt like a dodgy council estate.
Review 134:Location was convenient for town. Friendly staff. Pleasantly surprised how nice the room was after dodgy entrance.
Review 135:+ Location. The Ramada is situated in the centre of Crawley + Free Wifi. It is included in the cost and not an extra + Clean and functional rooms + Interesting layout
Review 136:Noise from other rooms you can hear everything not very sound proof complained stopped for a hr but then continued porter should walk the corridors in early hours of the morning to make sure people dont play there music at a very high level!!
Review 137:Staff are excellent
Review 138:Could hear snoring from the next room. Creaking floor boards all night, No water in fridge no robes no toiletries no slippers. Wifi kept going off and on. House keepers banging shouting linin bin being crashed around. Wouldn't stay again.
Review 139:The bed was very comfortable and the size of the room was lovely.
Review 140:The first room I was given was freezing cold. I changed rooms. The next room was warmer but on a really cold night you definitely need either extra heating or a winter quilt.
Review 141:The staff changed my 1st room without hesitation due to it being freezing cold.
Review 142:Radiator did not work as well as the phone connecting to reception. Breakfast stopped by 10am on New years Day so could have been more helpful.
Review 143:Great location for social life and shopping.
