Reviews for The Lansdowne Hotel
Review 1:My one and only complaint was the shower above the bath. The plastic shower hose kept slipping off the plastic riser bar with the water pressure, so I had to hold the shower head in order to have a shower.
Review 2:The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room and the ensuite were spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast in the dining room was delicious. My husband had a full English breakfast and my poached eggs were perfect and service was first rate. We would certainly visit again.
Review 3:The attic room was lovely, with so many little extras e.g. Face flannels, tissues, make up removal pads. The décor was busy but it worked. Lovely place to stay and breakfast great. Lady who checked us in and served breakfast was also lovely. Thank You
Review 4:The manager, Ben, was very friendly and really helpful. The room was ideal for our purpose. Parking at the hotel was limited but he gave me a permit to use on the road which I was also able to use the next day. Discount at restaurant across the road too!
Review 5:room was a little warm and couldn't open all windows (sash were painted shut)
Review 6:Excellent Friendly welcome, great location and good breakfast / value for money.
Review 7:The friendliness of all the staff, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were allocated to make it easy for us to look after an elderly relative that was travelling with us. The proximity to the centre of Leamington Spa.
Review 8:For a hotel advertising parking this was not adequate. Space for only four cars including the staff is not good enough.
Review 9:Room was clean and breakfast OK
Review 10:nothing
Review 11:friendly welcome. The room was clean and well decorated. It had every thing you need such as cotton wool buds and pads, plasters, and face cloths. Very good breakfast.
Review 12:The car park is extremely small. Whilst I get that there is nothing you can do about this in a town centre car park at what was essentially a large house I was cross about the misinformation - although it was very pleasantly delivered! I was told to park in a spot which blocked another visitor who wouldn't be leaving until gone 10am the next day rather than getting a permit to park elsewhere. I was just having my breakfast at 8.15am when I was asked to move the car as the person was leaving. Getting back into the small car park, at that time of day, reversing into a tight spot off the main road was not my idea of fun so I just left without having my breakfast. More annoying was that I could have spent the next hour in bed and still got to my conference on time so imagine how excruciatingly embarrassing it would have been if I'd been getting up even 15 minutes later. They would have had to knock on my door to get me up. Needless to say next time I will stay in a hotel with a larger car park!
Review 13:It was a lovely hotel. Very comfortable room with lovely attention to detail, good facilities and a comfy bed! Staff were very pleasant.
Review 14:The hotel is on a main road with no car park, but then I knew that beforehand. Resolved by secondary glazing and by being provided with a parking permit.
Review 15:This was a surprising gem in what on the face of it looked to be a 'less than exciting area'. Very comfortable, with great attention paid to detail and everything one might need. Décor appeared new throughout, with plenty of character. Breakfast was brilliant. Five minutes walk from the centre of Leamington Spa.
Review 16:The shower cubicule is small so the curtains keep getting touching my legs whilst having my shower. A glass panel would be a lot better
Review 17:Very clean, well maintained. Very nice breakfast, comfy bed.
Review 18:Very clean room. Breakfast freshly cooked and was a very nice treat before leaving for work. Went out in the town to explore pubs so was back late. Had a very quite night, but still in town center. Its not a modern hotel, but this added to its charm, I will stay there again.
Review 19:Not suited for people with mobility issues as room located at the top of two flights of stairs.
Review 20:Delightful stay and would definitely return. Very welcoming and our room very comfortable. Great breakfast and excellent recommendation to dine at the Troy Restaurant across the street.
Review 21:the only downside was the noisy plumbing which sounded like someone was having a bath in our wardrobe and woke my husband at 6am
Review 22:spotlessly clean, lovely room. situated 7 minutes walk from 'the assembly' where the gig we had gone to see was being held. excellent breakfast, faultless in fact
Review 23:At their prices. It's all good.
Review 24:Bored with anodyne business hotels so tried the Lansdowne - to be honest based on price just for a few hours sleep on the road. Exquisitely quirky, grandma's bed spread, doilies and squeaky stairs sort of thing going on. Quiet comfy safe room. Great shower. Great food and the best customer service in Warwickshire. Fantastic. Loved it.
Review 25:The perfect get away, truly a cosy home from home experience. Immaculate throughout, lovely cooked breakfast and gorgeous be-spoke rooms. Nothing to complain about, perfect! Lovely, friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.
Review 26:Lovely staff, spotlessly clean, comfortable with amazing fluffy towels, great location and plentiful breakfast and choices available making this excellent value for money and a much friendlier, nicer choice over a hotel chain.
Review 27:Well located for the town centre. The hotel is very clean, the rooms comfortable and the breakfast substantial. Overall, it provides very good value for money.
Review 28:Not sure if it was, but there appeared to be a whiff of cats on the stairs when I first arrived, but that had dissipated by the time I got back from a walk.
Review 29:The lady who served the breakfast and obviously serviced the rooms was very efficient and had a lovely, friendly way with her.
Review 30:A bit of traffic noise if window is left open. Not a problem if it is fully closed as there is secondary glazing.
Review 31:Very friendly and helpful lady in the reception and served a great cooked breakfast. Very clean. Only two minutes walk to get to my training course and city centre so that was ideal for me. Allowed me to park my car in the B&B carpark well beyond my check-out time.
Review 32:Bathroom needed a little upgrading but this did not detract from my stay in any way and would not deter me from staying again next time I'm in town.
Review 33:Spotlessly clean. Lovely staff. Lady serving breakfast very polite, friendly and efficient. Reception parked my car up for me as I'm slightly disabled. Both members of staff could not have done more for me.
Review 34:Everything I needed was available so didn't need to ask for anything. Staff friendly and made sure I felt welcome. Front door key provided and I was advised the time the door would be locked.
Review 35:Nothing bad, limited car parking but hotel gives out parking disc for free on the road parking.
Review 36:Staff were fantastic, so helpful, we were directed to fabulous greek restaurant across the road and got 20%reduction as guests from hotel.
Review 37:I really wanted to have a room with a bath - but this is rare in a single room.
Review 38:Excellent standard of cleanliness and staff couldn't have been nicer.
Review 39:There wasn't anything we would say we didn't like as such but I would recommend taking ear plugs for light sleepers as you are by a busy main road.
Review 40:The hotel was lovely and clean and comfortable. Our room was a triple and had plenty of room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was lovely.
Review 41:Apart from the bowls national championships which were taking part in. We found the stay there, to be a very pleasant one. The staff at the hotel were so helpful, nothing was to much trouble. I would recomend the hotel to anyone.
Review 42:No complaints
Review 43:The location, the cleanliness and exterior appearance. Well painted and pleasant. Close to the railway station and walking distance to centre.
Review 44:Due to the central position there was a lot of traffic noise, which led to restless nights. The property is a B & B, with the doors and reception locked by 930pm, so you need to remember to take your door keys out with you.
Review 45:The location is very central which suited my needs. The room was a small double with a shower room and the usual facilities. The two staff members I met were friendly and helpful.
Review 46:Very tight car park. Thought I'd never get out in one piece!
Review 47:Only met one member of staff who appeared to do everything. She was excellent and very friendly.
Review 48:Sunny front bedrooms hot despite the provision of a fan. Would air conditioning be an option.
Review 49:very helpfull staff very clean good breakfast nice furnishings
Review 50:Nothing. But please understand that this is a purely B & B hotel.
Review 51:Very well located within a couple of minutes of the main shopping, but still with easy parking (free 24-hour parking permit supplied by hotel is a great bonus). Quality of establishment - at least in my single en-suite room - is very good, with recent decoration and good furnishings - not at all 'tired'. Good en-suite. Staff excellent and welcoming. Breakfasts excellent.
Review 52:Not enough shelf space in the bathroom for sponge bag etc. A couple of coat hooks to hang clothes or towels please.
Review 53:Friendly welcome, efficient service always. Very comfortable beds and generous tea and coffee in room. Lovely to have a teapot. Also generous toiletries which are appreciated.
Review 54:We didn`t have a bad experience, but found the car park just a bit tight for our car!
Review 55:The room was comfortable, the staff pleasant and helpful and the breakfast excellent. Also, it was within walking distance of the town where we were able to find a restaurant for our evening meal.
Review 56:Too hot in bed and no alternative for quilt. Bed in room above creaked loudly when occupants were amourous. Unfortunately, for us, that was most of the night.
Review 57:People were nice and room was very clean. Unfortunately, the whole purpose of the stay was for a good night's sleep and that didn't happen.
Review 58:It was an old English type bed and breakfast. Staff were friendly while we stayed there. Good location. Furniture a bit dated. My husband left a shirt there and when he rang and asked for it to be sent back to him. They told him it would cost too much to do that. Not impressed.
Review 59:We were enroute to another town so it was a stopover. It's was cheaper compared to other places that particular time and close to the town centre.
Review 60:You are sure of a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff. The room was well appointed and, despite being on a crossroads, was quiet. Breakfast and service was very good.
Review 61:Rooom (no 6) was a little on the small side and on main road so passing cars were noisy late at night
Review 62:Clean ,comfortable room, good breakfast and on site parking
Review 63:The shower curtain was not long enough and it stuck to your body as you showered
Review 64:I liked the staff attitude.Breakfast was very good and the lady served with a smile. My partner and I intend to come back some time
Review 65:No food available at 9pm because 'kitchen is closed' we had to get back in our car and go out, not great as hotel in the countryside. They should be able to rustle-up a sandwich in the evening.
Review 66:Comfortable, free room upgrade, pleasant staff
Review 67:Not sufficient parking, parking available overnight only on the street. Hotel on main road and this could be a problem if very warm.
Review 68:Excellent value and central location. Room was spotlessly clean and there was good quality linens.Beds very comfortable with memory foam mattresses. Loved the touch of a teapot in rooms. Staff courteous and helpful. Would stay there again.
Review 69:Shower small with plastic curtain on two sides. My room overlooked busy street so some noise
Review 70:Location and car park. Host was very helpful and agreeable.
Review 71:Excellent hotel in a great location... was competing in a big cycle event on Sunday and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, highly recommended! 10/10 :-)
Review 72:A bit stuffy in rooms- windows difficult to open.
Review 73:The local Kenilworth sausages Very friendly and organised Great location for eating out- good beer in the Royal Pug Very comfy leather sofas
Review 74:Small, "family-run style" hotel in the centre of Leamington Spa. Compact, clean and confortable single room with a good en-suite and all the facilities one could need. Excellent breakfast in a pleasant dining room. Would happily stay there again.
Review 75:The weather was unbelievabe, hot then cold then really cold, then wet , rain was bad at times, we thought we would leave it all in Scotlnd but Alas it twas not to be, didn't spoil our wee break though.
Review 76:As usual we were made very welcome and enjoyed every minute of our stay.
Review 77:the folding door to the bathroom took a bit of getting used to at first
Review 78:the friendly, courteous and helpful staff The very comfortable bed the cleanliness the excellent breakfast
Review 79:The only thing was that the hotel is located on a busy junction so traffic noise can be a nuisance especially in the early morning.
Review 80:The hotel was small and cosy and makes a good base. It is close to town centre and easy for bus travel. The breakfast is good and service is quick. Staff make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The room was well decorated and comfortable with a good shower room and quite a lot of space for two people. It was kept clean and welcoming.
Review 81:Nothing
Review 82:Fab hotel everything was perfect. Will definitely stay here again if we are in that neck of the woods. Breakfast freshly cooked massive choice. Definitely deserves 10 out of 10
Review 83:I didn't like that it was referenced on the website to have parking facilities as there were literally 3 spaces within the hotel 'car park'. I was however given a free permit to park my car for free along a road nearby but I don't like leaving my vehicle so far away. I just wouldn't advertise the property as having parking as it doesn't.
Review 84:I really liked the location of the hotel and the staff were very lovely and helpful! The room was exactly what I needed and a very good size bathroom. The breakfast was very lovely and plenty of it! Very happy all in all!
Review 85:Love Free wfi. Beds really comfy all the things you'd expect were available . Nothing to let the occasion down.warm welcome on arrival and at breakfast. Key to let yourself in at anytime.
Review 86:could not open window in room which we tried to do as the room was hot during the night.
Review 87:Staff could not be more helpfu, curtious and knowledgeable about the local area.
Review 88:Nothing was bad!
Review 89:Good sized room with family sized ensuite bathroom. Clean with tidy (if a little odd) decor. Good breakfast. Staff were helpful and pleasant.
Review 90:Thin walls, bed was ok not great, only 1 sachet of coffee in the room - I could have done with more
Review 91:Room was very clean and had the facilities advertised
Review 92:Nothing!
Review 93:One of the best equipped rooms I have ever stayed in.Small room but well planned. Comfortable, very obliging staff and very convenient central location.
Review 94:Can hear the road easily, Small car park so had to park on the road, which they provided a permit for.
Review 95:Staff were very friendly, Nicely decorated, Good breakfast.
Review 96:Breakfast doesnt officially start till 7:30, however as I needed to leave quickly to get to work, the chef rustled up my exact order as quickly as possible anyway.
Review 97:The hotel and room had everything I needed and way more than I'd expect at the price point. Great service from the staff - very friendly and welcoming.
Review 98:The hotel was spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast very good. The location was great for walking around Leamington.
Review 99:small car park
Review 100:Good central location in the town and well placed for exploring the rest of the county. Close to both Warwick and Stratford. It was quiet, comfortable and good value
Review 101:Arrive at 1230 to find door locked and nobody answering the phone. Kept calling until just after 2 when someone answered.
Review 102:Very friendly staff, great wifi. Lots of TV chanells and very warm with additional radiator.
Review 103:NOTHING BAD. However out groudn floor room looked over the rear yard area which looked like it was in the process of being tidied up - if it was tidy and clear, with some tables and chairs and planters, that would have been extra nice (but we did go before Easter, so a bit early to sit out)!
Review 104:Nice welcome and indeed all the staff we spoke to were very friendly. I would class this as a guest-house style of hotel, with some limited parking just off the centre of town. Good breakfast, nothing too much trouble.
Review 105:I have never stayed at a cleaner hotel. I felt guilty using the bathroom it was that clean. Breakfast was excellent with quality food. And the staff were very friendly. Will stay again.
Review 106:The hotel was all that I expected, clean, comfortable and friendly. Breakfast set you up for the day. Only criticism was the fact that the heated towel rail didn't work in room 1.
Review 107:Bed desperately needed new mattress Bathroom needed new 3 piece suite; top of cistern broken, huge crack in basin, cracked damaged bath (all damage had been roughly patched up)
Review 108:Staff very accommodating when I asked to change room. But then again I wasn't given what I had booked / paid for. (i.e ground / first floor and room with bath not shower) Staff lovely Breakfast amazing!!
Review 109:Staff excellent - asked if they could do gluten free breakfast and they could not have been more helpful. Room cosy but had everything we needed and tastefully done.
Review 110:Comfortable, spotlessly clean, thoughtfully equipped room in an interesting old building only a short walk from the town centre. Friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast, easy on-street parking (permit provided)
Review 111:No hash browns for breakfast!
Review 112:The hotel was brilliantly situated in the centre of town. It was easy to walk into the centre of Leamington Spa, and so nicely presented. The hotel staff obviously cared enormously about the hotel and we loved staying there.
Review 113:The breakfast room was very small and cramped which meant not all the guests could sit down at the same time.
Review 114:The staff were lovely and the room was beautiful. It had all the provisions you could need and these weren't nailed down like they are at some chain hotels.
Review 115:Owner told us off for our late return on a night out. Bathroom as dated ( but fully functional)
Review 116:Comfiest bed I have ever slept in! Great location and distance from town.
Review 117:Twin room had most amenities but a bit small I thought for £80 shower and ensuite a bit small Quite a bit of traffic noise during the night
Review 118:Very courteous, helpful and friendly staff . Very Good Breakfast
Review 119:Car park was tight and parking in the streets around the hotel was extremely difficult. The room was a bit tight. The shower was no more than a dribble.
Review 120:The owner was very helpful on arrival. The rest of the staff were also very pleasant and happy to serve with a smile. Very comfortable bed. Great breakfast.
Review 121:Room was quite hot with no obvious way to cool it (window locked), once I was asleep it was fine though.
Review 122:The whole place was spotless, which gave a good first impression. Decent room size and good, free, Wi-Fi coverage. Great power shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful, printing out a boarding card was no trouble for them & much appreciated!
Review 123:My only dislike was my single bed against the wall, my knees now and again bumped the wall!!! But I'm "nit picking" here.
Review 124:The staff could not have done any more to make my stay perfect. At one point in the afternoon when I had signed out, I had to return and wait in the lounge with a friend and we were both asked if we would like a coffee.
Review 125:Shower maybe needs updating but everything else made up for this
Review 126:Friendly staff very comfortable rooms, enjoyed breakfast we definatley would stay again
Review 127:the photos on the website make the decoration look overpowering but on arrival the decoration was fine
Review 128:great location, lovely room with all that you need, free parking permit
Review 129:The pedestrian crossing outside our window!!!
Review 130:Very convenient to the shops and restaurants by foot. Helpful pleasant staff comfy lounge. Good flexibility over breakfast timings so could have a lie in and not be too rushed as only staying 1 night
Review 131:limited parking, although plenty of on-street parking is available after working hours. Breakfast could be a little earlier, although staff did accomadate my needs for a slightly earlier time
Review 132:comfortable, friendly and clean. good breakfast and very helpful staff
