Reviews for Compton House

Review 1:It was great that there was on site parking, but I had problems getting in and out of it due to faulty gate, this wasn't a big problem and assistance was given, but it did stress me a little as I was in a rush to go out and my feet got covered in mud wearing going out shoes on my return in the dark. The room was clean and tidy to look at but finding a half eaten packet of biscuits with the tea making facilities wasn't very nice. I found the bed very uncomfortable with the springs poking through, but this could have been my opinion.

Review 2:Jane was very helpful with directions advice of the local area and the b&b was close to the shops. The room looked clean and presentable and was a good size for a single room.

Review 3:Room was a bit on the small side, tho adequate, not sure whether some are bigger. Would have been nice to have free wifi for the price.

Review 4:Friendly welcome, nice breakfast with good choice, tea making facilities in room. Good location with plenty of eating places nearby as well as supermarkets for snacks.

Review 5:On one wet day it would have been good to have been able to advance the heating by an hour.

Review 6:Using the bus to get around and wanting to use the Tissington Trail to support a half marathon runner and to walk, this B & B was in an excellent position. It was also close to the shops and places to eat. The owner provided helpful information.

Review 7:Our room had a very low doorway, which as my spouse is very tall was a hazard. The bed was rather elderly.

Review 8:The room was clean and pretty, the hostess kind and professional.

Review 9:This is how we would like every guest house to be. Well positioned, well equipped, good quality beds, spotlessly clean, excellent breakfast and attentive owner. Travelling with an elderly mother, the availability of a nice ground floor double room was essential. To have all of this in the town centre, with wifi and secure parking, makes this guest house very desirable.

Review 10:The decoration of the hall ways was a little 'tired' and the bedroom doors need 'refreshing'. Some noisy people in the street woke me at 2am

Review 11:Breakfast was excellent and the place/location was ideal for me.

Review 12:Bed poor quality. No hot water on first day. No facility to place toiletries. Insecure steps up to bathroom. Garden in deplorable state. Parking awkward. Wifi did not connect. Quite a bit of dirt.

Review 13:Nice breakfast. Pleasant service

Review 14:Decor quite dated and the garden untidy. You can see the untidy conservatory from the dining room which was dusty. No entrance to the property from the car park so have to carry suitcases around and no directions to the car park when you arrive.

Review 15:Room was spacious and the bed comfortable

Review 16:The bedroom was a bit dusty on lampshades! a few cobwebs and mould in shower.

Review 17:Clean comfy bed and lovely breakfast.just a short walk into shops, pubs and restaurants.

Review 18:The guest house is very clean and located centrally to Ashbourne. The owner went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. It was an added bonus to have secure packing.

Review 19:doona a bit heavy for a warm night.

Review 20:very welcoming host and a comfortable room. Breakfast excellent. Parking squeezy but very good. Excellent position for walking the town, and also for exploring surrounding areas.

Review 21:Compton house is in the middle of Ashbourne and close to shops swimming pool etc Jane made us all feel very welcome and served a wonderful breakfast each morning Compton house was like a home from home. Very highly recommended

Review 22:If wifi is essential, that would be a problem.

Review 23:Compton House is a very comfortable, traditional old-fashioned type bed & breakfast with a lovely, friendly, welcoming hostess and a host who cooks terrific bacon & eggs! Creaking staircase, comfortable cosy room with comfy bed, flatscreen t.v. and ensuite bathroom.

Review 24:The bed was a little bit soft but we had enjoyed a few drinks at the wedding so didn't notice it too much! Toilet seemed to take a long time to fill after flushing but apart from that it was all fine

Review 25:The owner was very welcoming and let us into the room early as we had a wedding to go to. She was very helpful on how to get around and very friendly

Review 26:Excellent location, room with ensuite beautifully appointed and lovely outlook over the garden. Lovely helpful hosts and very peaceful with on-site parking.

Review 27:Nothing really.

Review 28:Good and warm service. Your really feel welcome here. Exellent breakfest, every morning. Good location in the middle of the town. Comfort bed.

Review 29:Wonderful and helpful landlady, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere topped with friendly chatter. Breakfast was very tasty, plenty of choice and prepared us for the day well.

Review 31:Stayed with hubby for valentine's, love this bed and breakfast, would definitely stay again, gorgeous room, bed very comfy, breakfast was so lovely, fruit and cereal, toast and full english, so close to all Ashbourne has to offer

Review 32:Nothing

Review 33:Very comfortable bed, lovely spacious superior room, big breakfast, would definitely stay again and recommend this b and b and Ashbourne in general to any one wanting a walking, eating, relaxing, romantic break away with plenty if pubs, wine bars, restaurants, tea shops and posh shopping within a very short walk. Ten out of ten x

Review 34:Having to leave!

Review 35:Ability to park on site. Very friendly welcome and shown to room. Offered an early or late breakfast sitting with very good non-meat option and plenty on offer - could have had 4 courses! Beautiful bedroom with large bathroom.

Review 36:Damp room, messy garden view, noisy pipes kept us up all night, cramped bathroom, no lock on wc door, mouldy shower surround, cracked sink, small bed, noisy extractor fan everytime bathroom light turned on, fussy parking which included driving on a public walkway, noisy scruffy area, police everywhere, food nearby caused illness, stained carpets, child portioned unpleasant breakfast, Nancy decorated. Have pictures for proof. But give the lady a chance she is nice and may have just been our groundfloor room. For the price it was okay.

Review 37:Lovely lady.

Review 38:Not really anything- the house is 3 old cottages made into one dwelling. As a result it is an interesting building with weavy corridors and low ceilings - more character than modern homes. TV quite dated but it worked well so not an issue for us.

Review 39:We had the lovely bedroom overlooking the garden - very clean and lovely bedding. Very modern bathroom with good bath and shower. Warm welcome, good breakfast and easy parking. House is 2 minutes from centre of Ashbourne so near bars and shops.

Review 40:My only comment would be the room and dining room needed a good dust.

Review 41:The couple were very friendly, room comfortable breakfast good.Somewhere to park the car.

Review 42:Jane and David were awesome. Facilities in the B&B were great, as were the facilitiex in the area. Short drive to Alton Towers, the reason for our stay.

Review 43:Access to on-site parking is slightly difficult via pedestrian access to a supermarket and parking manoeuvrability itself is a little tight - not really a complaint more an observation.

Review 44:Friendliness of welcome and quality of breakfast

Review 45:limited bed cover so we were both cold.

Review 46:good secure car parking. reserved Large bedroom, so had plenty of space. excellent breakfast. easy walking distance to Pub for an evening meal.

Review 48:Pleasant welcome, good breakfast and very helpful when our car wouldn't start! Great location in the centre of Ashbourne for pubs and restaurants and handy for the Tissington Trail, plus Sainsbury's was next dooe!

Review 49:Minor points:TV picture a bit fuzzy I like cooked food served on a HOT plate.

Review 51:Very friendly, full of character. Food was marvellous and plenty of it. Varied selection of drinks to make in room, apart from tea & coffee. We got married at Ashbourne Registry Office, very convenient as it was just across the road. Parking provided at back.
