Reviews for Arora Hotel Gatwick/Crawley
Review 1:I didn't like £10 parking charge on top of paying to stay, or the price of breakfast - that's all :)
Review 2:I liked the cleanliness, I liked what was available at the hotel, I loved the water features. Inside the hotel is 100 times nicer than you would expect driving past it ..
Review 3:Nothing negative. Only minus menu in cafe area bit limited.
Review 4:Arora is a good quality hotel efficient staff high standards of cleanliness, well furnished bedroom accommodation, good value for money with secure underground parking. Within easy reach of Gatwick Airport. Would definitely use again and recommend.
Review 5:The constant need to have staff re connect our electronic keys. The keys Always failing in the lift, and for the rooms. Time wasting and annoying.
Review 6:Good housekeeping staff, clean rooms, comfortable bedding
Review 7:At 08:00 the buffet breakfast was a bit tired, with slightly curled up fried egg, hash browns a little dry
Review 8:I arrived at 3 am without a booking and was dispatched to my room without hassle the night manager was a perfect gentleman. The room was spacious and modern with the best shower system I have used like being in a rain forest ....the bed was new and extremely comfortable I had a much needed 5 hrs sleep to leave at 09:00
Review 9:The ironing was in a burnt condition which, ended up making my trouser black. One would have expected this be checked to ensure people clothes are not tainted. Communication by staff need to be much clear; i was made to understand my breakfast was included in my bill but it was not.....causing uninconvenience.
Review 10:THE SECURITY IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH BECAUSE STRANGER JUST OPEN OUR DOOR AT NIGHT AND THE STAFF DID NT LOG THE CALL WHEN WE REPORTED
Review 11:LOCATION NEAR GATWICK AIRPORT
Review 12:10 min drive to Gatwick, free parking, comfortable modern room well equipped, choice of bars/restaurants. All for under £50 for 2. Perfect for catching an early morning flight without stress
Review 13:in the Family room , The Toilet is separate with the bath room
Review 14:The Hotel is Big, the family room where we stay is good and big. Have good breakfast and shuttle transport to gatwick airport, near to shopping mall.
Review 15:We had trouble getting to are room and spent about 10 minutes going up and down in the lifts as the keys didn't work ! The bed was very uncomfortable the fridge didn't work in the room, they put us the front of the hotel with a one year old on New Year's Eve so was very noisy and couldn't get him to sleep! The staff was very unhelpful when I spoke with them they just look back with a blank expression on their face! I also got called a lier too my face twice I found it to be very rude and unex I found it to be very rude and unacceptable behaviour when they're meant to betray customer service skills we was also given wrong information at the front desk mum accepting that caused us to have a very bad new years day
Review 16:The lifts using your key to swipe was a bit hit and miss to get working.
Review 17:Huge and lovely breakfast. One is easily enough for two people!! Great atmosphere on Xmas morning.
Review 18:internet is free but with low speed and you have to input new code every 24h at least if you have several laptops of phone... . internet high speed is good but 15£ a day that s a joke! the elevator control access and rooms with magnetic card never worked propely. I had to go every day to the desk and ask for a replacement of the card. Bad food smell sometimes in the main hall may be coming from the pub of the hotel. food quality not healthy. parking 10£ a day (another joke). Some rooms just in front of the railway.
Review 19:fitness and sauna (Steam didn t really work). small shop in the main hall. Rooms clean.
Review 20:Convenient to airport, city, shopping, and transport. Staff is efficient, and helpful. Clean and comfortable accommodation, with modern facilities. Love it. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
Review 21:The floor in my room was dirty .. a women's long hair was on the floor which stuck to my socks them went on bed .. floor needs hovering!
Review 22:Atmosphere Shop in reception Ice machine Nice breakfast n staff in breakfast area
Review 23:no air conditioning in my room and they didn't offer me any discount or another room.I ask for that, the turn in a way around to don't give me another room but a free coffee. A free coffee doesn't worth my sickness.About the place was nice and very clean, but make sure the AIR works or you are going to have a very cold room and toilette.
Review 24:was very clean
Review 25:The Receptionist who eventually check me in was very good, however, there were several staff who ignored me for several minutes: I wonder what they are all there for? Shower temperature control did not work properly. Wi-Fi signal was weak
Review 26:Check-in receptionist was very good. Makes a change, usually the receptionists at the Arora are sloppy and unfriendly.
Review 27:Quite the most horrid sausages I've ever come across at breakfast; find a new sausage supplier and you'll have a perfect hotel!
Review 28:Really fantastic value; marvellous smart building and bedroom; personally escorted to nearby rail station after just requesting directions. Amazingly impressive!
Review 29:Service was very good from arranging transport for me from the airport to helping me with my late online reservation. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 30:The reception is very cold, very slow to check in.There are only 3 tea bags and milk in the room we phoned to ask for extra tea bags and milk ,and the staff asked which company I work for??? We have been charged £2.50 for the tea bags and milk when we checked out. I did not feel I was in 3-4 star hotel.
Review 31:Room is very clean.
Review 32:That it was not indicated correctely that the Breakfast was included in the price of the booking. Only found this out when I checked out.
Review 33:Clean confortable bed. Room was spacious.
Review 34:Christmas parties took all staffs attention and we eventually got food 90 minutes after ordering. Struggled with luggage from car park to reception - no lift.
Review 35:Well appointed, good reception, easy layout, good rooms.
Review 36:I had asked for a quiet room but a railway line ran directly underneath our window. Food very expensive but only a short walk to a wide range of restaurants. Be aware that car parking costs £10 a night.
Review 37:Very clean with free gym facilities.
Review 38:Staff - they do not understand and do not know the law, wanted to overcharge me. Charging me twice for the same booking is a shame.
Review 39:Facilities, i.e. SPA, gym, etc. No restaurant opened during the day, till 5PM - it is a minus. Cafe is not a restaurant.
Review 40:me that they would do but did not follow through with. I know this as I woke up at 6.30am on my own and waited for the call to get up. But 7.10am I realized that was not going to happen. This is an AIRPORT hotel - people need their wake up calls as many of us are catching flights and need to be on time!!! I stayed at the hotel in August of this year and we had a lovely time. Not this time. I understand from my many visits that the staff at the Arora Gatwick first language is not English. If I stay at a hotel in an English speaking country, I would at the minimum expect to be understood when I talk. I asked the woman who checked us in how many beds were in the room we booked (as I needed two double beds) and she told me two beds. More than once I asked her. Of course, there was only one bed in the room. I called reception and they said it would cost GBP50 for a room with two beds. Unacceptable as I was already paying GBP92 for my current standard room. It was a tight fit. I have stayed at this hotel many times and stayed in rooms with two doubles beds in them. Sometimes even without asking.
Review 41:I have stayed at this hotel probably once sometimes twice a year for the last 15 years. I enjoy the location and the facilities of the hotel. I am sorry that will now be looking for a new hotel.
Review 42:Had a extremely good service from a member of staff called Yannick. Professional Courteous efficient and knowledgeable about the local area. Working in customer service myself in another industry it is great to see such high standards in your staff at this hotel especially Yannick. Please pass on my thanks to him as he has restored my faith in hotel staff.
Review 43:Issue with WIFI which meant the receptionist had to call an IT help desk and I had to speak to them to explain the situation. But it wasn't the receptionists fault .
Review 44:NIce room and very quiet because it was away from the trainline.
Review 45:Room was facing front of hotel as noise from passengers leaving/arriving at hotel and coaches picking up/dropping off airline crew with engines running from 5.45am!
Review 46:location, bar
Review 47:Reception was so helpful and very efficient. Our quiet room on both occasions, before flying out and after flying in to Gatwick, was ideal. Receptionist offered to find a young man to lift our cases up and down the station bridge which was a great help to us 'oldies' on our way back to Victoria Station, London.
Review 48:The tv in the rooms does not satisfy my needs of watching sports like the premier league and nba
Review 49:The staff treatment especially at front desk and restaurants
Review 50:My window was right next to the train tracks, so my nights were a little disturbed from the noise.
Review 51:All in all, it was a very pleasant stay and the staff were very friendly.
Review 52:No release onto the platform to catch my train. Had to return to the reception to get a concierge to give me access through gate. Missed my train to Redhill and lost further time waiting for train to Guildford.
Review 53:Ambiance within the reception area
Review 54:I stay here every 7 days or so. The hotel is great but makes it most is the attitude of the staff who make you feel like a friend. I stay in lots of others but they rarely manage the same
Review 55:I didn't like the pub - Morgan's Bar I think. I thought the service was poor as was the food and the prices were really high.
Review 56:The staff were excellent and the food in the grill was superb, we ate there on two occasions and it was great both times. The service was perfect. The rooms are large and perfectly clean as are all the public spaces - it felt like there was someone cleaning all the time!
Review 57:kettle did not work, lift was very temperamental, staff were very unhelpful at reception, drinks expensive. wont stay again!!!
Review 58:staff at the bar were lovely and happy.
Review 59:Not enough milk or tea and coffee was provided, I had had a long day and only had enough for one drink. Bed was extremely hard for me Ordered breakfast from room service and unfortunately the cooked breakfast was quite cold and the order was initially mixed up, still got coffee instead of tea but didn't realise until later on but drank anyway. Felt sausages were undercooked and for some reason received scrambled and fried eggs
Review 60:The bathroom looked amazing and was very pleased there anti slip mats were provided so felt very safe in bath/shower. The room was very spacious but there were no instructions on how to work air conditioning although did work when put on. Glad to have a bath towel which actually went round me and was lovely and soft.
Review 61:I booked two family rooms my room was great double bed and single bet the other family room only had one bed my two sons had to share not what I ordered or paid for
Review 62:lovely warm welcome helpful staff
Review 63:All the time I wasted in the lift trying to get up and down it, due to the faulting swipe pads in lifts and room doors.. They shouldn't leave themselves down in that way..
Review 64:It's location
Review 65:Can't fault it!
Review 66:Love this hotel. Had a great guy on reception this time round who gave me a choice on which room. Always clean and spacious rooms. Decent little gym is free to use. If you get the right price this is great value.
Review 67:Only one pillow each and the cleaning staff having conversation at the top of there voices at some stupid hour.
Review 68:Polite staff, lovely room. Pleasant stay.
Review 69:There was a stark contrast between decor in communal areas and in the guest rooms, the pillows were atrocious and caused a broken nights sleep
Review 70:The location was great and communal areas were of a good standard. Despite overlooking a railway line, there was very little noise from passing trains.
Review 71:Not a bad experience, but I would have liked a stair option for going up and down. i realize that I could ask staff to let me through when going up, but the downstairs access was far from our room.
Review 72:The willingness of all staff to help
Review 73:The waiting time at the reception to check in or out. Also, the fact that we could not get a park for our car and nearly scratched the side of the vehicle trying to get around the TINY driveways. The pathways were unbelievably small and surely must be illegal as they were so dangerous and almost impossible to negotiate. This MUST be dealt with as it was only due to my husband's brilliant 3 point driving that we got out unscathed!!!!
Review 74:The facilities. Very modern and large, comfortable rooms.
Review 75:It is a big chain hotel and so an anonymous experience.
Review 76:Clean good sized rooms and helpful staff. Good location and good value for the money. Would recommend if wanting to be in the area, close to Gatwick.
Review 77:The room not having enough products for bath and roube.and also the lift always using the card to go up and down on my room.it feels like iam been controlled were I'm going.plus they could have student discount for those who are studying.
Review 78:Will be even better if the hotel could provide roube to my room or all rooms
Review 79:The WiFi signal was appalling for a Business Orientated Hotel. Limited parking - I got the last place in the car park on arrival at 8pm...which is not THAT late for a business trip.
Review 80:Check in and the state of the room
Review 81:We were quite late arriving , receptionist was quite surly . On checking out however they were very pleasant and helpful
Review 82:Very clean modern hotel . Nice room , quiet and great value
Review 83:Prefer that parking is included in the hotel price rather than having to pay separately.
Review 84:Superb value for money with good service, accommodation and food. Ideal for our purpose of an overnight stay before a flight.
Review 85:My room was noisy due to adjacent railway line. Otherwise fine
Review 86:Great room-apart from the noise! Food in Grill was excellent both in quality & value
Review 87:Poor food quality. Didn't finish meal. Staff need to be more pleasant to guests. They don't seem to care. Didn't feel welcome at reception or the Grill.
Review 88:Handy for train from airport. Comfortable beds.shower and bath. Shuttle service.
Review 89:The double rooms only had 1 extra pillow, no toilet brush in the bathroom, only 1 person could log on the wifi. First room was over the train tracks so got very little sleep with the last train at 230am then the first at 5am,The second room the shower when you open the door to enter/exit the bathroom got soaked and due to it being curved couldn't safely put a towel down so dangerous.
Review 90:The location was close to the train station and my family which we were visiting .
Review 91:Not enough milk tea and coffee. Only 3 of each for two adults !!
Review 92:Nice modern hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Good safe car park underground.
Review 93:Soft bed made it slightly uncomfortable sleeping. I didn't know we would have to pay £10 for parking until after we booked the room on line.
Review 94:Excellent facilities. Impressive looking building. Modern and clean.
Review 95:My daughter and I were made to feel very welcome, the room was very clean and comfortable. We only had a one night stay before our flight early the next morning but I would use the hotel again and I would highly recommend it.
Review 96:"Free internet" is a statement that leaves something for desire. Free, yes. Internet, yes. Speed - Dialup :( And frustrating to have to log in every time you close your computer.
Review 97:Always very slow internet, even the £15 per day "high speed broadband" option which I have purchased here before is slower than 3G at all times of the day.
Review 98:Nice room layout and comfortable.
Review 99:Pay for car parking....... Took the shine off the stay. No need to charge for parking in addition to room rate. Get rid of it please.
Review 100:Great hotel great location
Review 101:The free wifi was terrible so slow that my laptop seemed frozen I had to pay £45 for the higher speed service.
Review 102:Very good stay well looked after by the staff I spent a month there and I will stay there again next year
Review 103:Mattress on it's way out felt the springs, shower had lime scale build up gone brown, view from window was of industrial estate and only one extra pillow available in room.
Review 104:Location,seperate shower and tv.
Review 105:Could not get kettle to work apparently instructions are inside the door not obvious as missed by us both, receptionist advised where instructions were when we checked out. NOTE Car parking is not free even if your a guest on an overnight stay.
Review 106:Superior room was spacious and bathroom had bath and separate shower. All very clean.
Review 107:Had problems using the door pass card in the lift as it has to be used to go up floors. Very difficult to use. Arrived to find a plate of half eaten food in the corridor outside our room. Staff didn't appear overly friendly at reception.
Review 108:comfortable beds. good soundproofing - quiet room. lovely bathroom. spacious room. clean.good facilities. excellent location near to the train station (at the rear of the property)
Review 109:My room was looking at the railway and the trains make quite a noise. I asked for another room, but they did not come back to me with any proposal.
Review 110:Location is convenient if you have business at the airport. Good restaurants and pubs at 10 min walk.
Review 111:the only slight quibble was that your pricing is erratic and we were surprised that a stay on Saturday night cost £66.00 compared with £84.00 for a Friday night
Review 112:All excellent and very friendly, helpful staff
Review 113:Wi Fi provision limited to one user, Service in the coffee lounge was a bit slow, but the staff were polite and food was good,
Review 114:The whole experience was superb, staff were excellent, hotel was great,
Review 115:Felt a little like being in a Whetherspoons and for the slightly higher price you pay here, compared to the Crowne Plaza or Sandman, there's not much of a difference.
Review 116:Nice comfy hotel, on a par with the rest of the hotels in Crawley of the same price range. Good choice of eateries. I like the little shop on the ground floor for fags and papers.
Review 117:Wifi very slow.
Review 118:Large, very comfortable room. Large bathroom with bath and shower, bathrobe and slippers. And so quiet! Beautiful view over the countryside.
Review 119:Poor staff/customer interaction especially with the front desk staff/manager. If I did not have to return because my company books me to stay there I wouldn't. Booking system inadequate, information not shared. Constantly being locked out of the room and every charge to my room tab a battle because of no credit card information on file, despite it being added at checkin and numerous visits to the front desk after being refused at bar/restaurant!
Review 120:Very good contemporary styled hotel, excellent food in the restaurant, all served very well, excellent wine at a sensible price. Excellent driver back to the airport.
Review 121:Price is a bit high Unlike other hotels, there is no pointer/arrow to the direction of qebla for muslims guidance.
Review 122:Staff are very cooperative and helpful
Review 123:Expected bigger bed! Paid for overnight parking but when we tried to park it was full so had to park elsewhere so hope they refund my *£10
Review 124:Bathroom good size and very clean
Review 125:Fridge/cooler couldn't get it to work. Luke warm bath in the morning not hot water Kettle didn't work (told after you have to lift the lid of the carbonate of something! Sign needed) Fire alarm in the morning Unexpected £10 parking fee just to park over night at the hotel we were paying to stay at. Very expensive!
Review 126:Clean, comfy bed, blackout curtains so slept well.
Review 127:We had a double bedroom which was next to the train line, this operated until 12pm and again at 5am which we could hear trains every 15 minutes, also the double bed was uncomfortable as my husband side made him roll into me so all in all not a lot of sleep was had by either of us.
Review 128:Mattress needs renewing you keep rolling to the middle Also not enough washing gear one shower gel ,one shampoo between two also card key did not work meaning going up and down to get it sorted not once but three times ,so not sure we would stay again
Review 129:Not applicable
Review 130:Arrived early no problem room was all ready were off for to a wedding so no parking fee for first 30 minutes, staff were very friendly and efficient. Room was spacious very comfortable with added extras bathroom was black marble tiled shower was excellent, kettle, iron hair dryer all standard. Railway line ran alongside room did not hear all night.
Review 131:Room next to railway. Requested when booking on-line for early check-in. We arrived at 6 am at Heathrow Airport from Bahrain, took the coach from there to Gatwick and then requested a pick-up and by the time we had pulled three suitcases from the bus stop no.8 which said that hotel buses licked-up there and got round to the Sheraton the driver had come and gone and we had to get a taxi.. We were then told that there were no rooms available. The swipe system in the lifts was absolutely maddening.
Review 132:Convenience for railway and comfortable bed and room temperature.
Review 133:Only negative thing about our stay was slow internet and maximum one connection per room. If you wanted fast internet and connect more than one device it was an extra fee.. We had two phones and a computer.
Review 134:Super friendly staff. Very welcoming and helpful. Was picked up at the airport by a very nice driver. Loved the free gym and sauna facilities. Clean room, comfortable bed, and nice updated bathroom. Great value! Perfect for pre or post travel from Gatwick Airport.
Review 135:My second-floor room, #246, as with all rooms on that side of the hotel, was right above a railway line, so that every passing train - by day and night - clattered over a gap in the line. The double glazing reduced the noise to some extent, but it was still disturbing. My advice to bookers is to insist on a room located away from that side of the hotel. In the longer term the hotel owners should negotiate with Network Rail for the track to be modified with welded (ie gap free) lines at this location.
Review 136:The Arora is a first class hotel, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the rooms are beautifully presented with excellent facilities. However, see my advice below..
