Reviews for Plato's
Review 1:Not much sound insulation in the wall between room 6 and 7 and 7 were very noisy
Review 2:Nice ambience, lovely yobsit in front of the open fire with a.bottle of red
Review 3:Telly didnt work first night and room a bit cramped but moved second night room was great. Only downside was the continuous rain but it didn't spoil our weekend.
Review 4:Lovely rooms and excellent restaurant. Fab breakfast
Review 5:Bath difficult to get in and out of.
Review 6:Really friendly and helpful staff. A lovely stylish hotel in beautiful Kirby Lonsdale. Complimentary tea/coffee and cake on arrival. Fab breakfast.
Review 7:While all the food (evening meal and breakfast) was excellent, we saw the chef at breakfast sprinkling salt over our cooked breakfasts...quite unnecessary. The young man behind the bar was clearly quite inexperienced and his keenness did not quite compensate; he clearly needs a bit more training and supervision. These are minor gripes; we will quite happily return.
Review 8:We like the town so that's a good start. We had a room upgrade and found the 'Loft' apartment beautiful, clean and lacking nothing
Review 9:room bathroom small and wood beams very low.
Review 10:staff super food good view of kitchen while eating' breakfast cook imaculate with hat and hair net.
Review 11:It was noisy, from early morning deliveries. The walls were thin and we experienced a great deal of noise from another rooms occupant.
Review 12:The hotel was comfortable and the room was well set out and very clean.
Review 13:Cricket ball key holder (too big to carry around with you). No parking on site, but you do get a free parking voucher from the hotel but they didn't tell me of this until I was checking in (luckily I had not paid for any parking), and I did ask several times via booking.com for parking details.
Review 14:Warm friendly welcome. Staff very accommodating
Review 15:Very friendly and helpful staff Tea and cake on arrival Excellent breakfast! The breakfast bar was well presented and everything else was cooked to order.
Review 16:room was dusty room changed without explanation was looking forward to a mountain view and didn't get one although we were upgraded and the room was lovely we hadn't been informed of this and then we were nearly overcharged by 55 00 we were also informed the evening meal was a 50 percent discount menu and then charged us full price
Review 17:Warm welcome comfortable bed excellent food
Review 18:Heating never came on, even though it's October, so chilly in the mornings.
Review 19:Lovely comfortable bed! Tea/coffee facilties excellent. Nice big TV
Review 20:Parking off site made it awkward with luggage and dogs although staff helpful.
Review 21:The modern decor, comfortable room, friendliness of staff , great food, excellent breakfast and dog friendly, even offered to supply a pet bed when I hadn't brought one. Easy access to riverside for dog walks. Will def stay here again next time I'm in town
Review 22:- no car park; really inconvenient in such a small town - room was too hot but there was a fan which was good - the rooms are very small
Review 23:- Comfortable bed: nice bed sheets - Good shower - lovely breakfast and excellent breakfast staff
Review 24:A constant tapping in room 6 , we were told it was the boiler which hopefully was going to be rectified this next week.
Review 25:Lovely friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
Review 26:First let me say that we loved the place, there were just a couple of issues. We were in room 2 which was a little small although very comfortable. The issue is the toilet window leads on to the fire escape where people stand to smoke . At night, when the bathroom light is on there is very little privacy. We were also surprised when my wife asked for the waffles for breakfast to be served 4 birds eye potato waffles with creme fresh and fruit compote. While this may be radical it's not exactly what we were expecting. All told though we would deffinately stay again
Review 27:Fantastic staff. Food excellent.
Review 28:WiFi did not connect.
Review 29:The room with views over the roof tops to the hills beyond. Food was good and well prepared. The atmosphere in the bar...lively, not noisy, but relaxed. Free car parking.
Review 30:We had no complaints at all. Despite the fact that our heavy suitcase must have been difficult for the staff to take up the steps to our room, the gentleman was gracious and did not complain at all, so why would we?
Review 31:Picture-Perfect all around - lovely staff, charming rooms (our family took up 3 of them), flexible vis a vis reservations and payment, close to the wedding that we attended, and overall value for money.
Review 32:Everything was great. Very pleased To find such lovely spotless crisp white-cotton sheets. Double "drench" shower very nice. Nice friendly service from all staff. Well done
Review 33:Noisy location on high street, lots of drunken people - sleeping was problematic as a consequence. Booked room with a bath but bath not available.
Review 34:Very friendly staff, excellent breakfasts!
Review 35:Having informed the hotel before I arrived that I was vegan, it was lovely to be given a separate dinner menu and the choice of a cooked vegan breakfast the next morning. Staff were all friendly and helpful.Providing magazines, chocolates, toiletries in room was lovely touch.
Review 36:Only complaint was the really poor wi-fi signal, which did not work at all in the loft apartment where we were staying and only worked intermittently in the bar itself. This needs looking at, as it was the only black mark on an otherwise fabulous stay.
Review 37:Upgraded to loft apartment with own kitchen and lounge, which was brilliant. Like having our own 2 bedroom fully equipped flat with patio area, absolutely fantastic!!
Review 38:Car parking problematic but a price worth paying for such a lovely location. No lift, but once again the age and character of the building makes this acceptable.
Review 39:The staff were lovely
Review 40:Didn't care much for the attic "deluxe room" with small Velux windows. Should have asked for a regular room :-(
Review 41:Fresh, contemporary style in an 1850's building. Amazingly friendly and helpful staff. They couldn't have been better, honestly!
Review 42:Very attentive staff give a personal touch to your stay. There are lots of small details, like the soap, which show how well thought through the standard is. The scrambled eggs are superb.
Review 43:The only thing a didn't like about our stay was the room was quite small for the money we paid, you couldn't even walk around the bed!! But in fairness is was perfectly formed, everything you needed was there.
Review 44:Really nice and friendly staff, lovely little village and the hotel was good as well. All in all a good weekend away!!!
Review 45:Nothing.
Review 46:The staff at Plato's made our stay very special. From the outset they were attentive, funny and very helpful. Thanks to both Alex(manager), Alex and Dave for making it a great weekend. Would definitely return.
Review 47:Hotel was first rate. An extra bonus was the hotel supplying a free car parking permit for the duration of our hotel stay which covered Kirkby Lonsdale and other South Lakes towns.
Review 48:The staff at Plato's were so friendly and exceptionally helpful. I really felt looked after . The ambience is utterly delightful and as it is also very good value for money I will be staying again
Review 49:The cricket ball on the key ring, not the most practical of things to carry around.
Review 50:A warm and friendly welcome on arrival, all the staff were excellent, nothing was to much trouble. The room and food were all first class,i would recommend Plato`s to anyone and hope to stay again in the future.
Review 51:Nothing. Maybe having to pay the bill !!!!!!!
Review 52:Brilliant overall experience. From checking in to checking out the staff were so friendly and attentive. Family meal on the Saturday for 19 was brilliant. Food piping hot and good to see the chefs working in the open kitchen. Staff waiting on us were excellent. Thank you so much.
Review 53:Our room was in the loft space so had low ceilings although cosy, you did have to duck in places.
Review 54:The whole ambience, warm, friendly, cosy with excellent food, fabulous location - perfect for short break.
Review 55:Excellent service, delicious afternoon tea, clean and comfortable bedroom, superb dinner and breakfast. Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Would highly recommend a stay here.
Review 56:Yet again an amazing stay at Platos. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. Good food and a very comfortable bed. We couldn't have asked for better.
Review 57:The weather and that I only had 12hrs in Hebden Bridgeand did not have a chance to have dinner.
Review 58:Diligent ,friendly service extended to after hours arrival. Breakfast
Review 59:Not much apart from lack of parking.
Review 60:It was a welcome and relaxing break. Kirkby Lonsdale is beautiful and we felt right at home in Plato's. Decent bar and food was good.
Review 61:Not taking Henry the dog back home with us...
Review 62:Welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble and were very accommodating. The food in the restaurant was superb and the seating in front of the fire was a real home away from home. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay such a wonderful one.
Review 63:Aubergine balls on the tapas menu, but it didn't deter from the high quality of our stay at Platos.
Review 64:What a fabulous welcome after a stressful and hectic period. ALL the staff saw to it that we were made to feel completely at home whether it was in the bar, the restaurant or with our accommodation - at ALL times during our stay. Our room was so comfortable and so full of character, we loved our most comfortable of beds and the bathroom was perfect. All meals, dinner, light lunch and breakfasts were super - highly recommended - we will be back some time.
Review 65:Noise at night kept us awake, very loud vent in bathroom and lack of net curtain meant that we could be viewed all down the HighStreet unless we closed the heavy curtains and had to use lights onthe daytie
Review 66:The ambience, the relaxed atmosphere, the food and drink
Review 67:Unfortunately, the stairs to the next floor were above our room (room 2) so we could hear other guests / staff going up and down and walking along the landing.
Review 68:The ambiance of the room and the hotel was extremely pleasant.
Review 69:sadly the wi fi 'buffered' continuously....I guess the Dales location not Plato's was the cause.
Review 70:The relaxed yet attentive service added to the varied and yummy food made our break special. Our room was cosy and had all the facilities we required.
Review 71:Nothing
Review 72:The service was superb throughout always provided with a genuine warmth and friendliness. The range and quality of the food was excellent throughout our stay.
Review 73:The extra stairs to the top floor room but staff willingly carried my luggage up and down.
Review 74:Helpful,friendly staff. A good rate for single occupancy -a very welcome change! I cannot fault facilities, cleanliness. A quality stay at an attractive price. Well placed for town, free parking even if placed a little away. The dog friendly bar area allowed my family plus dog to join me.
Review 75:The room shown on our booking confirmation wasn't the room we were allocated - I was expecting a lovely light room with sloping ceilings... Would benefit from improved lighting by the mirrors
Review 76:This was my second stay; friendly helpful staff, good wine & food, relaxed atmosphere, very dog friendly, 5* for that!
Review 77:Nothing!
Review 78:From the moment you walk in you feel the buzz of the restaurant and welcoming from the staff. A superb 3 night stay, great room, service and food ;-) A must stay!
Review 79:Only minor set back was there parking outside the hotel but they provided a parking permit for a public car park a very short walk away. No complaints at all.
Review 80:Lovely location, quaint little town. Helpful friendly staff. good choice of breakfasts. the evening meals were very good too.
Review 81:Wouldn't wish to use attic style bedrooms again. Not comfortable if you're tall!
Review 82:Really friendly and relaxing. Good food and good location. Seems popular with the locals too.
Review 83:Take care if you are on top floor as the ceilings are low
Review 84:great location friendly and helpful staff high quality fixtures and fittings delicious breakfast helpful local information
Review 85:The room (no. 3) was small. There was no wardrobe or shelves for clothes - there was just space to hang a few clothes on the wall but no shelves or drawers. Quite expensive at over £100 a night for such a small room.
Review 86:The location was excellent for our purposes, visiting family close by and exploring the Lakes. There was free overnight parking close by (using a pass supplied by the hotel). Nicely devorated throughout. Outside terrace which was pleasant as the weather was warm. There was a well-appointed bathroom (shower) with plenty of space for toiletries Breakfast was cooked on request with a good choice of options. Staff were knowledgeable about gluten free menu options and can supply GF bread for breakfast if asked for in advance. The tapas menu is ideal when you don't want a full meal, good value and tasty. There was an electric fan already provided (temperatures were in the high 20's during our stay).
Review 87:We've stayed a couple of times at Plato's now, as we love Kirkby Lonsdale and the surrounding area. This hotel is really exceptional. Both rooms we've stayed in now were wonderfully refurbished, spotless and extremely comfortable. We were upgraded to their best room on our last visit, which was so nice. The food is excellent here as well. The staff have always been incredibly friendly and chatty and we'll definitely be coming back on a regular basis for visits here. Highly recommended. There's no parking directly on site, but that doesn't really matter, as there are several car parks very close by and they even give you a free 'Plato's' car parking pass for you to use as well.
