Reviews for Hungry Bentley Barn bed and breakfast

Review 1:Leaving.

Review 2:Fantastic welcome, warm and full of charm. One of the best overnight stays I have had in many years. I hope the owners read this as I can't thank them enough.

Review 3:I don't often write reviews but do stay in a lot of hotels. I can't praise Hungry Bentley enough. Stunning house, spotleshuge, comfortable room, excellent facilities including a roll top bath you could swim in, topped off by the finest cooked breakfast I have had in many a year. Elaine and Doug were perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Completely recommended. I will be back next time in the area overnight.

Review 4:No dislikes

Review 5:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Chatsworth room. Elaine and Doug were at our total beck & call. Hungary Bentley Barn is a comfortable & friendly place to stay & we recommend it highly. Lovely breakfast provided.

Review 6:We were a bit disappointing because we didn't feel very welcomed. It was not in line with the other comments we saw before booking. It was like we were not supposed to be there.

Review 7:The house is nice and pretty, breakfast is great.

Review 8:This B & B is very high quality, a beautifully converted barn. The attention to detail everywhere is excellent including the grounds where there are plenty of places to sit out and relax. First class, we'll be back!

Review 9:it was all superb

Review 10:we liked it all from entering the drive and onto all inside our room was very beautiful and comfortable friendly people and superb breakfast

Review 11:satnav from ashbourne led us miles round narrow country lanes and then to wrong farm.Needed a couple of signs at rd junction and outside property.

Review 12:hosts and property were excellent.

Review 13:Walls are a bit thin, as in any old building noise travels...

Review 14:The B&B is situated in a nicely converted barn building. Very bright and spacious! Breakfast is delicious, cooked to order and super fresh!

Review 15:I had meant to book one of the rooms with the (amazing) baths, however I made a mistake and it was not so! However, it hardly mattered in the end because the entire stay was just so lovely and it just gives us an excuse to go back. Ask about how to house was built, its incredible! And go for a bike ride too- ask Jane for the trail with Thors Cave on it! Im the biggest spazo ever on a bike and even I had a great time!

Review 16:Our neighbours in the room next door - could hear everything however that was not the owners fault and we didn't make them aware of the situation as we did not want to cause tension therefore they didn't have the opportunity to correct it.

Review 17:The breakfast was fantastic and the photographs do not do the location or the rooms any justice. Beautiful.

Review 18:Only 3 rooms with little or no sound proofing between rooms. My girlfriend and I were very fortunate to be the only guests as that gave us the privacy. The rooms are sealed in with glass topped walls so light from elsewhere in the house can effect the lighting in your room. Also no facility to lock your door and keep your belongings safe when out for walks.

Review 19:A very welcoming friendly atmosphere, the building and decor is beautiful with Ashworth and Dovedale only a few mins drive. Lovely breakfast to finish off a very nice stay.

Review 20:Wifi was weak but for the location this is expected. The shower could do with a fully surrounding shower curtain.

Review 21:Lovely room with a spacious bath. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast and a warm welcome. Rooms were very clean and furnished well.

Review 22:Nothing!

Review 23:Beautiful barn in a lovely rural location. We stayed in the Chatsworth room which is stunning with four poster bed and roll top bath. The whole barn is finished to a very high standard with lovely decor and touches like bathrobes and toiletries to make it special. The best part however has to be the fabulous host Karen and her husband who were looking after the barn while the owners were away. They couldn't do enough for us, from the fabulous tray of tea and goodies when we arrived to the the delicious breakfast. Thank you, we will definitely return.

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:We had a great stay at Bentley Barn. The room was brilliant, with amazing facilities. Location was exactly what we wanted. A quiet rural setting. Couldn't have been better. Oh and the breakfast... Wow.

Review 26:Room door had to be forced shut and lock was bent. TV was requested to be off by 11pm. TV was mounted on wall so bed time viewing was heavily restricted as the tv did not bend around much. Wifi in luxury suite well didnt exist. Rooms were very echoey so we felt like we had to at a whisper the whole time. Not suitable for couples who want to have some special time.

Review 27:Location Staff Food Bath rooms were awesomely clean

Review 28:Beautiful place and lovely lady too who was welcoming. Very welcoming and breakfast was excellent. Will definately go back. Celebarred our engagement here and couldn't of been more lovely xxx

Review 29:This is a fantastic place in every sense very welcoming and stunning location This could not have been better many thanks to the owners Jane and Brian

Review 30:Everything--the welcoming from Karen -with a tray of tea and biscuits was just what we needed, the warmth was continued from the owners Jane and Brian, great accommodation and a fantastic breakfast.

Review 31:Sometimes in the night you could hear the pipes for the underfloor heating expending and contracting

Review 32:Jane was so friendly and helpful even offering to book dinner for us, nothing was any trouble. It was a lovely place to stay, just outside of Ashbourne and easy to find, sorry it was just for 2 nights.

Review 33:Not being able to stay longer

Review 34:Everything . Owners super welcoming and friendly. Rooms amazing. Breakfast delicious. Idylicc. Have been 3 times and will be returning

Review 35:My girlfriend I stayed here for 3 fantastic nights as a get away to Alton tower for her birthday. Was made very welcome by the home owners and also Karen the master class breakfast chief. Our room spectacular with the high oak ceilings following into the bathroom which held a roll top bath. I would highly recommend to others. Only trouble we found was the room could have done with some sounds deadening, you could hear the room next door mumbles.

Review 36:I guess some people might be taken aback at the fact that you can't lock the door to your room! We were the only people staying there so it wasn't an issue.

Review 37:A sensational location, very friendly hosts, a gorgeous room and a wonderful breakfast. Perfect B+B!

Review 38:Rooms are a little echoey, but to be expected from a converted barn!

Review 39:After a long day celebrating our anniversary at Alton Towers (a quick 15 minute drive away), Jane welcomed us to her gorgeous B&B in the evening. We stayed in the roomy Kedlestone Room, which is decked out in antiques with a gorgeous four-poster bed and a roll top bath in the bathroom. I have never seen a room and bathroom so spotless! Karen made us the most delicious full English in the morning, with a fresh fruit salad, yogurts, cereals and orange juice and tea. A quintessentially English B&B. Thank you for such a lovely visit - we would definitely stay again!

Review 40:Televisions we're small compared to the room

Review 41:Although a little out the way of shops and a town centre, the location was beautiful! We stayed the one night after an Alton towers trip (which is only 20 minutes away) and was at exreme comfort in this lovely converted barn. The bathroom was amongst the cleanest i've ever seen! A great stay for couples and familys and the breakfast was spot on in the morning.

Review 42:Not a single thing I could fault!

Review 43:Really friendly, really comfy 4 poster bed and the only time I've left my phone charger and it's been posted back to me, normally need to buy another

Review 44:Beautiful setting, room and hospitality.

Review 45:Could only get wifi downstairs.

Review 46:Superbly appointed, Elaine looked after us very well in the owners absence.

Review 47:Great hosts, very comfortable room and excellent breakfast. I will stay with them again.

Review 48:Lovely room with a Four Poster bed & roll-top bath

Review 49:very remote need car to get to anything.

Review 50:lovely room

Review 51:There is absolutely nothing to dislike.

Review 52:The friendliness and helpfulness of the owners.

Review 53:Mattress showing its age a little.

Review 54:Friendly welcome to a lovely building. Spotless room. Good breakfast

Review 55:Internet very slow. Everything else perfect.

Review 56:Beautiful setting for a great barn conversion

Review 57:The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The family were very welcoming. The breakfast was lovely.

Review 58:Only staying for one night, I should have booked longer.

Review 59:The overall experience was truly amazing, from the friendly owners to the superb breakfast.

Review 60:Location, peace and quiet

Review 61:Home to home

Review 62:I could not fault anything

Review 63:Lovely place very warm, clean and comfortable. Very welcoming and breakfast was excellent.

Review 64:Lovely place to stay and the couple who run it are polite and friendly.

Review 65:Loved the barn is was beautiful and the room was fabulous. Would definitely recommend.

Review 66:Hungry Bentley barn was fantastic such peacefull settings We enjoyed our stay very much and was allowed to stroke the horses too!

Review 67:Everything echoes and you have to be very quite

Review 68:It was wonderful the lady and gentleman who run it are warm and welcoming with beautiful rooms

Review 69:Poor sound proofing and felt too close to other guests

Review 70:Relaxed and comfortable with friendly staff

Review 71:There wasn't anything not to like

Review 72:It was all splendid, the barn, the food the welcome.

Review 73:Home from home

Review 74:Nothing at all

Review 75:Our hosts are the most kind and welcoming people. We had the best holiday there that you could wish for.

Review 76:hard bed

Review 77:Looked after very well, great breakfast, lovely location.

Review 78:The Internet was very poor No bar Scaring location Flaying mosquitoes No clear sign at the entrance

Review 79:Location is very clean and the bathrooms are clean and tidy and upscale New home The breakfast was excellent

Review 80:Garry and I loved our stay. It was very homely. Jane, Karen and Andy were such good hosts. All our needs were catered for. Our room was great, comfortable and cozy. The breakfast was wonderful. We were not rushed. The lounge area was nice and we could use it if we wanted too.The location was beautiful and quiet and we loved Zara the dog. We shall come back. Derbyshire is a beautiful place to visit.

Review 81:Our beautiful room was just too hot.

Review 82:Excellent barn conversion, all furniture and soft furnishings were of top quality and taste. The owners were very welcoming and the breakfasts were something to die for. Will certainly return in the future.

Review 83:Everything! Jane and Brian were brilliant hosts, beautiful location, breakfast was brilliant, all freshly made, fresh fruit salads also. the room was spacious even though we had the Sudbury room which was the smallest - the only thing I would say about the room was the mattress was too hard for us but that is a tiny complaint & wouldn't stop me from staying there again. Would recommend it to everyone for a Peak District B&B

Review 84:From start to finish, out experience was fantastic. Can't rate it highly enough. Would definitely return in the future and perhaps stay longer.....3 days just wasn't long enough for us. Geeat place to unwind!

Review 85:You can lock yourself in the room but there was no lock to secure the room when we went out.

Review 86:Lovely lady called Karen looking after us. Served us tea on arrival and recommended places for us to go for dinner. Prepared a wonderful breakfast at a time we chose. Barn was lovely, quaint yet modern, comfy bed, clean and spacious. Bath tub was a treat!

Review 87:If I should mention something bad, I'd say the room was a bit too hot during the night.

Review 88:I really loved the location, just in the middle of nowhere, exactly what I was looking for. The room was really cosy and everything was perfectly clean. The owners were charming and gave us all the possible space and privacy, as well as the lady who also as there to help us., specially with her lovely breakfast (awesome ham and cheese omelette) and the beautiful roll top bath. I'd recommend it to couples who wants a short break.

Review 89:not a thing

Review 90:Could not fault anything--Karen gave us a very warm welcome, providing a pot of tea etc. soon afterwards. Jan and Brian were extremely good hosts in their wonderful accommodation -----it is obvious that we had a fantastic break not forgetting the great breakfast.

Review 91:Don`t like fixed overhead shower heads, (means you have to wash your hair really) Prefer flexible shower heads on a hose. Towels were clean but rather hard (maybe some fabric softener here!)

Review 92:Character of the building / charm. Nice isolated spot which we were looking for. Had the place to ourselves. Brill.

Review 93:Felt like we had to creep about as voices and noises were amplified . Didn't like the fact the too. Wasn't secure when you left it as no locks . Didn't feel very welcome when we arrived .

Review 94:Very clean , modern and presentable

Review 95:We didn't like leaving!!

Review 96:We loved everything. The building was beautiful, the room was everything we could have asked for, the bathroom was fabulous with the deepest bath we've ever seen. The owners were extremely nice, and very friendly. Breakfast was tasty and hot, and I loved the plum and ginger jam that was provided for my toast. We treat ourselves to a night away without the children, a couple of times a year. This was a treat and a half. Excellent.

Review 97:Staircase to b/.room too steep for us (80+)need to be warned. No sitting area so not quite up to hotel standard. Downstairs was all private. T.V. very small and fixed up on a wall.Picture on the net is of private areas!!!

Review 98:Cleanliness in everything and a v,good breakfast with everything we could want.

Review 99:A beautiful barn run by very friendly & hospitable people. Set in a perfect location for the peaks and Alton Towers. Roll top bath was perfect after a long day. We would and probably will stay again in the future.

Review 100:We stayed here two weeks ago and found all aspects excellent. My partner asked for a specific bottle of champagne and some birthday balloons for a surprise treat. They were waiting for us when we arrived with the champagne on ice. It was perfect and really made the holiday! The room was lovely and the bathroom was a real treat with a roll top bath. Would recommend to friends and family!

Review 101:Hard to find late at night! But called jane and she very politely gave directions.

Review 102:Jane & Brian were extremely friendly, courteous and patient. There beautiful accommodation was wow factor and the other guests were also friendly and respectful! Breakfast was yummy & we will definitely return!

Review 103:Not well signposted from main roads so we got lost. I recommend a brown roadside be put up to guide tourists.

Review 104:quaint and family run business so personalized service was great. Lovely breakfast too. The accommodation is a barn conversion and exceptionally well done!

Review 105:It's a little bit far from a local town/village than we had hoped - I.e we needed to drive to eat in the evening, although the meal we had in the Saracens Head was lovely.

Review 106:Beautiful place in the middle of the countryside, gorgeous room, very clean, spacious and Jane is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely too - it kept us going for most of the day!

Review 107:Beautiful room superb barn conversion Oak beams everywhere tastefully decorated lovely four poster bed and luxurious bath! Traditional Breakfast with locally sourced ingredients!

Review 108:bit noisy from passing traffic if you are not used to it

Review 109:gorgeous room very clean and well presented warm welcome and lovely breakfast will be going again

Review 110:Beautiful B&B set in the countryside close to Ashbourne and Alton Towers. Very comfortable and scpacious rooms. The breakfasts were great as well as the service.

Review 111:Road noise, but only in our room. The bathroom wasn't a fully separated room.

Review 112:Fantastic breakfast. Beautiful views. Lovely comfy room. Roll top bath.

Review 113:Could hear people in other rooms

Review 114:Lovely building and very friendly and lovely people. Excellent location close to Alton towers, and the owners go out of their way to make the stay memorable.

Review 115:The walls are super thin and i think i may have woken the other couple by laughing and talking when we got home that evening because come the morning they may as well have been in the room with us as we could hear everyword! No locks on the bedroom doors so you cant secure your belongings when your out!! There is a pin lock for when your in there but i feel something is needed for when your out. Niether of these things should stop u from staying at Hungry Bentley Barn as its a wonderful place to stay!!!

Review 116:This converted barn was beautiful and wonderfully decorated throughout. The owner occupiers are so friendly and helpful it makes you feel instantly comfortable! The room has everything you need and more, luxury feel. I took my boyfriend for a suprise and we were both very pleased. Ideal for Alton Towers! I also highly recommend the Saracens Head in Shirley for dinner but book early to avoid disaapointment! Breakfast was fab, healthy style english breakfast, grilled bacon etc! Lovely place! Will def stay again if in the area!

Review 117:It was a particularly hot weekend when I visited and whilst the room was lovely and reached up to the ridge of the roof the room was of such a volume that the small window just did not provide enough ventilation. There was a fan in the cupboard which made the room more comfortable but it did make it sound as if it were raining all night. Having said that it is a lovely conversion but if the weather is hot (unusual I know) the room is stifling.

Review 118:Very nice. Welcoming owners. Lovely breakfast you can sit outside and enjoy a drink either under cover or in the open air. Beautiful property.

Review 119:The barn conversion was absolutely stunning, along with the surrounding countryside. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely visit here again!

Review 120:The owners were very helpful and even offered to book a restaurant for us in the local village to save us time. They greeted us warmly and offered us a drink after showing us around the rooms.

Review 121:There was NOTHING we didn't like! :)

Review 122:We Came Here as a Birthday Treat! & the whole place is fantastic! :) Lovley Barn..With beautiful surroundings! Jane & Brian Were Lovley & welcoming! Room was amazing! & Breakfast was Yummy!! :) Will Be Booking to Stay Again :) & would without a doubt recommend to friends & Family! :)

Review 123:The bath/shower was on a plinth and became very wet when using the shower. Great care was needed not to slip off of the plinth when getting out of the bath. We put a towel on the floor to make it safer. That room was probably not suitable for anyone with limited mobility in their legs as the sides of the bath were high.

Review 124:The welcome was very friendly; the breakfast excellent; our room, The Kedleston with its 4-poster bed, was very comfortable and with lovely views over the countryside.
