Reviews for Etrop Grange Hotel

Review 1:Staff extremely helpful and cooked breakfast is excellent. Have stayed on numerous occasions as very convenient for the Manchester Airport and its train station.

Review 2:Well on arrival my wife tripped over coconut mat having previously had a knee replacement she was unable to get up I had my back to her booking in .the man who helped her up was the etrop taxi driver as she fell as she went through the hotel entrance. My wife was shook up and had to sit down .with all this upset I realised later that we hadn't been given the room I paid for .I had paid for a 4 poster bed but didnt receive this.

Review 3:Room was good size

Review 4:My room was fairly snug (Room 43) and only had a shower but adequate for a single person. No safe in the room but was offered use of safe at reception.

Review 5:The staff are particularly friendly and the hotel gives a welcoming and homely feel. Full English breakfast was included in the rate which made it good value for money. Bed was very comfortable and complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee facilities and soft fluffy towels were a nice extra.

Review 6:a good experience all round. Friendly staff nice room and good food. Breakfast expensive so didn't eat there but evening meal good value for money

Review 7:I did not like the cobwebs on the ceiling, the dust on the lamp fittings, the dirt on the floor, the leaking shower screen, the puddle on the bathroom floor, the noisy AC unit, the lack of remote control in the room and the fact that windows cannot be opened.

Review 8:I did like the staff, the location, the free parking, and the breakfast.

Review 9:Reception staff on arrival TopTop guy My wife ex Etrop Grange Employee ie Anne Marie Richardson Allen/night porter/management all excellent Message left for Brian etc Thankyou to ALL the staff from pm arrival till next early morning start to T1 for Amsterdam So ETROP for get the past Keep up the Good work you are all 5 star Cheers for a Great stay Jack and Anne Marie Hulme 23rd Deember 2015

Review 10:There was nothing not to like friendly and polite staff and convenient for airport plus free shuttle reliable service

Review 11:I felt at home nothing was too much trouble, staff very friendly and helpful enjoyed my stay thanjyiu everyone

Review 12:Nothing.

Review 13:Decided it was a good idea to stay overnight as travelling in December and if the weather was bad overnight it would not cause us any problem getting to the airport. It's close to the airport, the staff are great here, nice rooms and great price.

Review 14:-Heating may vary depending on the part of the hotel you're in. Tell them if heat/cold matters to you. -Why didn't I find out about them sooner? (WAY closer to the airport than most "airport hotels")

Review 15:+Quiet, could have been in the countryside! +Free airport shuttle (check their hours, they're great!) 4 minute drive to Terminal 3!!! +Easy 15 min walk to Manchester airport train station (WITH luggage). Excellent sidewalk/footpath and bike routes in this area, very safe and just 2 streets to cross. +Best staff of any British hotel I've stayed at +Wonderful breakfast -- cooked and British B&B continental plus a little of true continental +Upgraded room was spacious, with seating for 4 and several windows! +Very welcoming +Beautiful common areas +They are updating some rooms in the hotel +Excellent value for money -- great prices even on extras (like their lunch bar menu)

Review 16:The only problem was getting a drink at the bar as the barperson kept disappearing but did reappear eventually.

Review 17:We stayed here overnight before travelling to Singapore and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We also had a lovely evening meal. We arranged to stay at a different hotel on our way back home at the end of our holiday because we wanted to be nearer to the airport - we both agreed that we wished we had gone to the Etrop Grange.

Review 18:Room was a touch small, other than that nothing!

Review 19:Cosy little stay close to the airport and cheaper than other options. Was clean quiet and comfy. Just what we needed.

Review 20:I found 100 GBP in an envelope - clearly an x-mas present for two grandkids - and handed it to exception. They readily took it, refused giving me a receipt, promised to get it back to the owners but treated me like a semi criminal for insisting they inform me once they found those boys and returned the money to them. I wasn't informed to date and I am convinced they cashed the money in. I find it appalling.

Review 21:Great location for an airport overnight and if you prefer private old fashioned to soulless modern chain hotels.

Review 22:Hotel and rooms worn and in need of renovation, poor layout, bathroom worn, old and with traces of mould, bed with bare old mattress showing at sides. Could give a much better impression with some TLC.

Review 23:Free in room wi-fi, very near airport so good for early starts (although breakfast time too late on weekends for early flyers), on site free parking, size of room.

Review 24:Everything! Friendly helpful staff, great location for the airport to collect family flying in from Atlanta, very comfortable room and very quiet too!

Review 25:the shower never worked in my room, windows nailed shut, air conditioning unit was not working and the front panel was under the dressing table, very slow service at breakfast waited 20 mins to get served

Review 26:Paid for executive room for two but only one set of towels & bathrobe. Room also small with only one bedside cabinet. This was more like a room for one person.

Review 27:Friendly staff

Review 28:We only stayed for the night but it was very convenient for Manchester Airport, with a shuttle bus to the airport at 5.00a.m. Very clean, pleasant staff.

Review 29:Walls were a bit thin so could hear people talking in the corridors easily.

Review 30:Far more charm and character than the average airport hotel. Room was lovely, shower brilliant. Good tea/coffee facilities. Staff were incredibly friendly. Free transfers to/from the airport.

Review 31:Not one thing I could complain about

Review 32:Absolutely love staying at the etrop grange, I have stayed with family, friends and just my partner and couldn't ask for a better stay everytime!

Review 33:Saturday nights Christmas Party had music that was way too loud and continued until almost 1 am. Very unpleasant and was duly noted to the desk staff.

Review 34:Close to airport, train and tram station. The staff could not been more helpful !

Review 35:Reception staff

Review 36:The transport staff were excellent. Receptionist left us waiting for nearly an hour at airport. He was rude and dismissive. Most of reception staff here appeared not good Take note

Review 37:Menu in restaurant was very limited but also there was choice that they couldn't do..... The bathrooms need a spruce up

Review 38:The hotel seems to have got tired over the past 12 months since we stayed there last. The staff were just as helpful as they've always been but I think the place just needs a little tlc.

Review 39:Unfortunately the bed was too soft.

Review 40:We needed a hotel close to the airport. Very short distance from the rental car facility. Beautiful building, nice decoration.

Review 41:The room was a bit cold, pretty unusual for a British place, although a fan was provided.

Review 42:I enjoyed the venue that was lovely and comfortable. Room was clean, complete of all I needed

Review 43:The taxi that the hotel put on people going to the airport was a very bad experience, the driver was the very bad mannered, We watched him throw peoples cases from the car onto the floor when we got to the airport, then drove off. He was so rude, We will never go back there again thanks to him.

Review 44:leaving

Review 45:mouldy, damp odours in the room no crakers or peanuts served with the wine charged nearly 7GBP !!

Review 46:very friendly and competent staff. charming hotel, spacious room

Review 47:Bed very uncomfortable no lift was going on holiday stayed there because of location to airport we had to drag our cases up 2 fliGhts of stairs then down a couple of stairs no good for older people as we are a mature couple it was hard work and then doing the reverse in the morning

Review 48:friendly staff food was good

Review 49:Room needed updating. Noisy toilet. Very high bed which was difficult for me as a small person. Couldn't get bedside lights to work. Breakfast could have been better.

Review 50:Warm room, friendly staff

Review 51:Visited few times before and on this occasion room wasn't as expected.Smelled of damp and not as clean as usual.

Review 52:Fantastic staff.Great location for airport. Really good food.

Review 53:Excellent value for money for park and stay. Transport to airport was no hassle. Good choice of food within the restaurant. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 54:Room a touch small, didn't like crawling across the bed as one side was close to the wall. Just one bath towel and one hand towel in the bathroom. Not large issues as we were there just the one night.

Review 55:We liked the ambience - an English hotel rather than the North American high rise box style. Dinner and restaurant service was excellent and staff friendly and helpful. Very close to the airport to get us there in time for an early morning flight.

Review 56:No handle to get out of bath.

Review 57:The attitude and attentiveness of the staff was great nothing was too much trouble a lot of hotels could learn from this hotel.

Review 58:Furniture in lobby shabby. Sofas had ripped and torn fabric on seats. Looked tired and dated. Needs a facelift and refurb.

Review 59:Our room was very clean and refurbished. Modern decor.

Review 60:Bathroom fittings a bit run down

Review 61:Great welcome Nicely and interestingly furnished room Good restaurant Very handy for airport and Mnachester via train

Review 62:Booked the room 2 months before arrival, only to be told we were being transferred to a city hotel. After our complaints a room was found for us at EG.

Review 63:Internet was not working when I checked in, and was still not working in the morning. Staff was not too helpful about wifi problems

Review 64:Convenient location to airport

Review 65:Each night the hotel had a different wedding party in. The place was very busy and all communal areas were taken over by guests. You could go for s quiet drink without feeling like you were crashing someone's party.

Review 66:Room was well furnished

Review 67:Driver was abrupt and dismissed request for dropping off point at airport. Usual driving staff were not on duty. Reception staff did not come over as fully confident and initially allocated a room in the wrong name. Room was not the best.

Review 68:Service at dinner.

Review 69:No drinks available after midnight check-in and very small double bed in room made for restless night.

Review 70:Very close to airport, about walking distance. Reception staff ok, but could not get us anything from the bar after a midnight check-in which was disappointing.( told us not allowed access) Breakfast was very tasty and served with best service I've seen in years. Bed we were given was too small in room 5. Free transfer to rail station was a nice gesture from hotel.

Review 71:They gave me initially a room located in the basement that was quite smelling but upon my request for a change they offered me another room in the first floor which was good and clean

Review 72:It is very close to Manchester airport with dedicated shuttle service. Good restaurant also for breakfast. Friendly staff

Review 73:Bed was very high - we managed, but we have family members who would need a regular height bed!

Review 74:Helpful, bespoke shuttle service. Large fluffy bath towels.

Review 75:No complaints here!

Review 76:This is the second time we've stayed here before or after a flight into Manchester. It is easy to walk to from the train station, affordable, and just what we need for travel days.

Review 77:The comfort of the room including adequate pillows and seating. Comfortable beds. The welcome when we arrived was efficient and quick particularly as we arrived after 11 p.m. and we were very tired after having had 2 flights and the consequential use of nervous energy A very good breakfast splendidly served

Review 78:No bad experience. Maybe some wouldn't like the more quaint aspects of this lovely house, but we enjoyed it.

Review 79:We stayed the night before we flew to Turkey & the night we returned. Both times we had comfortable rooms, very good beds (2nd time a 4 poster). We were picked up free from & to Manchester Airport Station & Terminal 1 with very short waiting time. We paid £90 the 1st time & £100 the 2nd for bed & breakfast, excellent choice for brekky, from porridge to kippers to 2 eggs with soldiers & 3 egg omelette. Each time we had a wonderful evening meal. Their chef is superb & all the staff lovely.

Review 80:There was a wedding going on, so the bar was crowded.

Review 81:This hotel looks and feels more like a country retreat than a hotel. The architecture and interior decor support that feeling. Its location near the airport is another real plus.

Review 82:Corridor to rooms smelt of damp, room was in need of up dating, bathroom door would not close. Expected more for the price of the overnight accommodation. Stayed the night before an early flight but will not be staying again in the future.

Review 83:I've stayed there often. They remember me; they know my preferences, and they apply them. They think ahead: there was a wedding party this time, so they put me in a room at the very end of a remote corridor. No noise!

Review 84:There was nothing not to like, everything was perfect.

Review 85:Everything about this hotel was pure luxury. It was an old world hotel and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 86:Bathroom needs wear and tear maintenance.

Review 87:Great welcome from Benton at reception during our late check in. It's a lovely old hotel tucked out of sight of the airport.

Review 88:I thought restaurant staff were poor service very slow more interested in setting up for breakfast than serve me. Altough the food was very good

Review 89:Good Room and facilities, Food was good quality not expensive

Review 90:The hotel was a little old and requires upgrading A.S.A.P. Torn dirty covers on the couches and chairs in the waiting lounge gives a very poor first impression.

Review 91:Location was perfect for an early flight. The staff were excellent, very helpful and polite. The breakfast was very good and well served.

Review 92:room pleasantly decorated but the bathroom smelled of mold and the shower nozzle did not work or at least we couldn't figure it out Lots of hot water though Toilet was old and not functioning that well. paint on bathroom walls was peeling.

Review 93:friendly welcoming/front desk good personnel on shuttle friendly restaurant folks warm room

Review 94:The food in the restaurant was outrageously expensive for what we got and the quality was not good at all! Very disappointed!

Review 95:We were very impressed with the porter/driver who was very kind and helpful on both our dealings with him.

Review 96:Stayed the week before and the room was seriously outdated and in need of refurbishment. Food unimaginative.

Review 97:If booking the club room ask for an updated one, it was better than my earlier stay.

Review 98:Terrible service in restaurant. Staff seemed very confused and kept apologising. The food was good though. Given wrong bill at end of meal. Room was at very back of hotel and needs refurbishment. Bar prices very expensive even for a hotel.

Review 99:Location to airport good.

Review 100:We requested an early morning call for our flight, but did not get one, just an apology, good job our alarm went off. Also the young girl on reception was very miserable,no need really when we were were really polite to her.

Review 101:The bed was the best bed I've ever slept in.

Review 102:Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Nice park close by so able to go out for a walk. Room comfortable with everything I needed. Very comfortable bed. Food very good.

Review 103:we arrived in the evening and were dropped off to car village to left our car and returned back by the hotel personal. it was free off charge. we have not our own laptop and personal on reception proposed us their own computer to make registration taxi to terminal 3 at 4 am costs 5 pounds

Review 104:Breakfast was expensive if not booked in advance. Bathroom sink was very shallow, making it awkward to put my hands under the tap.

Review 105:Very helpful staff. Big, well-equipped room. Free, handy minibus transfer to/from airport.

Review 106:I felt the room could do with a good dusting !! We were leaving first thing and the breakfast wasn't ready for the start of service. No bowls or spoons and butter was solid. So be careful if you have an early flight.

Review 107:Comfy four poster bed

Review 108:Tatty furniture, the grounds were were in a poor state, I paid £80 for one night, I stayed in better quality Hotels in Blackpool for half that price. Poor staff, and lack of same, we were attending a wedding, there were 100 for the wedding breakfast, which gave an indication of how many would be there for the evening. The bar in the reception area was very small with one bar person!! who looked as though he had been trained that day, different price for same round, we were in a group of six, and we were all charged different amounts. Ran out of glasses around 9pm, mainly due to the fact that they didn't have enough staff to clear the tables regurlarly. Tables and ashtrays for smokers outside ( not me) were not cleared or emptied by the time we left the following day at appx11 am. Definetly would not stay at this hotel again, and would not recommend it to anybody.

Review 109:not much, the bed was comfortable, decent wedding meal, and the breakfast in the morning was ok

Review 110:Damp carpet in our room

Review 111:Location very good for Manchester airport, staff very friendly, arrived 10:30pm no where to get a coffee, very disappointed with room as they must if had a flood and carpet was damp

Review 112:The meal we had in the bar at night, was less than perfect.

Review 113:Dropped our hire car off at airport, rang Etrop Grange, and somebody promptly picked us up. Good service. All staff were very nice.

Review 114:1. Took far too long to bring our car to Terminal 1 when we arrived back. The promise was 10 - 15 minutes - in reality it was about 45 minutes2. The reception areas were very jaded and in need of a face-lift

Review 115:Convenience for airport

Review 116:The buffet breakfast on day 1

Review 117:We had a good night sleep and surprisingly quiet given there was a wedding party. Breakfast on day 2 was much better as it was cooked to order and not the buffet. We liked the location as it was only a short drive into Manchester. Nice helpful staff and good security on the car park.

Review 118:Found check in swift and easy. The Georgian style of the hotel made it something very different to the normal hotel stay. Very close to manchester airport. The shuttle service to and from said airport was superb, So a special mention to George the driver.

Review 119:No hot water in shower although plenty in tap, but nothing to switch from one to the other. Wobbly unfixed tiles in bathroom. Room far too small, stuck up in the attic! Staff at reception were slow and inexperienced, young guys in bar were slow, uninterested and one was quite rude in his manner. The chilli con carne we ordered had clearly been cooked a while ago and re heated!!

Review 120:Chauffeur excellent.

Review 121:Unfortunately the passageways and rooms smelled very badly of fustiness.....ie long term damp/unaired. I would have to think twice before staying again....sorry, because everything else was really good

Review 122:Good location, nice staff, nice room at a fair price. And I have scored it highly for cleanliness as on the surface it was , however when you see my negative comment......

Review 123:Mold on ceiling of bathroom. Dated room, and some fittings not finished properly (curious plastic fitting and wire on wall). Arrived late - no time to complain or arrange alternative. No crisps in the bar!

Review 124:Convenient for airport. Courtesy shuttle at 5am, only 5 mins drive.

Review 125:Room was smelly, corridor smelly damp, room dated, was in the basement, friends had told the rooms were lovely, think we got poor end, people walking past window making noise, little sleep,

Review 126:Tina, bar staff, looked after all of us very well, Allen the driver very pleasant

Review 127:entrance up steps not good for disabled. the reception is not very private with other people butting in while we booked in

Review 128:bed very good , breakfast very good , staff excellent

Review 129:Reception not clearing holding deposit on credit card after promising they would. Had to make calls from France to sort it out

Review 130:We had dinner in hotel and it was excellent. The shuttle service was great with a very friendly driver Highly recommended hote

Review 131:The courtesy bus from the airport which had not been mentioned on our booking.. Pleasant staff despite pressures of a wedding in the hotel. Assistance with location of an inexpensive evening meal within an easy walk from the hotel

Review 132:Being very fussy here but the chairs in reception could do with an overhaul.

Review 133:The staff made this hotel from the reception man who carried our cases to the room to the bar & breakfast staff and even right down to the driver of the transfer car. All were excellent, polite, efficient, friendly and professional and actually conversed with people...novelty. Food presented was also very good and tasty.

Review 134:The mushroom tagliatelle and asparagus and rocket risotto could be improved.

Review 135:All good. Staff very helpful and friendly. The inclusive car parking service was very helpful and reduced that infuriating time in airport "processing" areas.

The Fine Print
