Reviews for Barclay On View
Review 1:Room was very small and hot, even though the air conditioner was on. It certainly wasn't value for money!
Review 2:Located walking distance to main town hub.
Review 3:Hot water kept cutting out when I had a shower. It wasn't too bad just had to wait around 30 seconds for hot water to come back in each time.
Review 4:The rooms were wonderful. Much bigger than I expected and nice modern decor.
Review 5:The photos on booking.com were nothing like the actual property. It looked quite run down when we arrived and the rooms were not that much better!
Review 6:Property was handy for the local food and drink outlets. The room was basic but clean.
Review 7:Im being nitpicking but these things annoyed me. The toilet paper was basically empty on the roll (maybe 10-15 sheets left) why not just change it? There was no ice in the ice tray, it was empty. The air con was terrible, it seemed like it worked but the main bed got nothing as it was pointed away and we couldn't move the blades, it was hot (39*) so needed the air con!
Review 8:The location was great, short walk to the main drag and lots of resturants close by. The room was clean and not too small. The free continental breakfast delivered to the room the night before was nice.
Review 9:Not being told about the availability of the milk when we arrived. This meant an extra trip to reception to pick it up. Because the phone was not working upon arrival we couldn't phone for the milk. The phone was quickly replaced after our complaint. I received a mild electric shock from an active exposed wire in the bathroom. (We were told that it was cut by the cleaner). The male staff member who responded to our complaint asked whether we wanted another room, but because we had already unpacked, we opted for a bit of electrical tape for a temporary fix since we were only staying one night. I found an earwig in the bed between the sheets, complete with its droppings.
Review 10:The service provided by the male on duty. When we left, he gave us a complimentary bottle of wine, I assume because of the problems we experienced.
Review 11:Noisy Bathroom fans which turned on every time the toilet was used throughout the night in all units.Drove us nuts.
Review 12:Location was good for View Street entertainment. The staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 13:Staff were wonderful, breakfast upgraded slightly but complimentary. A slight hill to walk up from the city mall but otherwise a pleasant & comfortable stay.
Review 14:The fan in the bathroom of suite 3 was working on a sensor so each time we entered it, it would turn on and was quite loud. This was a bit difficult for during the night toilet trips and worrying if we would wake the other.
Review 15:Super clean, basic decor but that's all my Mum and l needed. We loved the fact that you were generous with mugs and glasses (other hotels I've stayed in have only ever given 2 of each and it's not enough as you have to keep drinking from the same mug).
Review 16:Nowhere to put cases. Couldn't see the TV from the settee. Had a toaster but no plates!
Review 17:had a balcony with table & chairs. Opening windows (with fly screens)
Review 18:Breakfast fairly ordinary for $24.00 and while the attendant (couldn't call him a 'waiter') was pleasant he needs to have the finer points of waiting on table pointed out to him. Whisking away single items before I have finished the meal gave me the impression to hurry up so that he could clean up, difficult for the customer to relax! Still I would book here again. Thank you.
Review 19:My upgraded room was well worth it for cleanliness and attractive decor. I liked the fact that the accommodation is within easy reach of great restaurants.
Review 20:Rooms are a little too small for a family or group stay. Should stick to 2 people for this place.
Review 21:Suitably priced for the location. Staff were friendly and the place is nice and relaxed.
Review 22:Check the room aircon remote control before its needed as room 16 was faulty and appeared to have been for some time.
Review 23:friendliness of staff good facilities great beds excellent proximity to venues and eateries
Review 24:There is very little space to move around, much less to place even minimum amount of baggage. The sensor in the bath room does not sense the person taking shower.
Review 25:Co-guests gathering and partying on shared balcony outside room until 2am Also the view from the room was over a derelict plot of land neck-high in weeds
Review 26:water pressure was poor road noise all night, not load enough to wake you, but loud enough to be annoying if your relaxing.
Review 27:bed was adequate staff were efficient
Review 28:Room is very small and crowded for 3 adults. The bath room fan turned on every time you entered the bathroom/toilet. Very noisy and annoying. Not a lot privacy as car parking is right outside the front door.
Review 29:Location was great, the room had basic features but there again I was only there overnight so it ticked all the boxes being clean, good bedding and pillows were great!
Review 30:It's a motel like many others. Excellent location near the Bendigo Art Gallery and cafes/restaurants. And although it was fully occupied we had a quiet night. That's all we wanted.
Review 31:Barclay on view is very central to Bendigo township/ cafes, shops, art gallery and park. We enjoyed walking around Bendigo and being so close to everything.
Review 32:I got white toast when I asked for multigrain for breakfast, slight smell of smoking when we arrived
Review 33:Good service, great beds, comfortable, great facilities
Review 34:Room was quite small and cramped. The extra single bed took up too much space. Gym equipment disappointing.
Review 35:Fantastic location. Walking distance to town centre and Arts Precinct. Room was warm, quiet and electric blanket was a bonus.
Review 36:Room upstairs and for an older person this was an effort especially when having to go to car a few times. Also unable to turn on heat in room and weather very cold
Review 37:Comfortable room, all facilities good, short walk to centre of town, staff friendly & very helpful.
Review 38:The bed was very hard, it was good to come home to our own bed.
Review 39:The staff were great, very keen to please. The room was plenty big enough and very clean. It was quiet and nice and dark for sleeping. Free off street parking was a bonus.
Review 40:Our bed was comfortable enough but very squeaky.
Review 41:Staff were friendly on our arrival and when we checked out. WiFi quality was great, plenty of tea and coffee provided.
Review 42:- We were given a little bottle of milk for our room when we checked in but were not given the WIFI password as routine also. Arriving back to the room after 8 pm that day, we had no way of getting the password - office closed. No password in motel paperwork in the room. !!!! - Clock radio in the room was set 30min late, so started the day behind time. Luckily we didn't have an early morning appointment. - Extremely heavy bedspread. When removed left one blanket. Hard to keep warm without cooking using electric blanket.
Review 43:Location was excellent for attending Bendigo Writers Festival/Art Gallery just down the road.
Review 44:The broken gym equipment. The gym/sauna/spa was featured on their website but the exercise bike was rusty, sauna leaking and didn't steam up the room and the treadmill belt snapped 10 secs into a run. The rooms are dark.
Review 45:The location. Staff are friendly.
Review 46:"de luxe" room was a misnomer. Basic formica decor, one hand towel between two of us, bathroom not cleaned properly, no personal toilette extras or complimentary features to justify extra cost. The room was pretty basic.
Review 47:location
Review 48:Furniture a bit outdated didn't like the dark laminate look very 1960's. Could use a lighter contemporary look.
Review 49:Friendly staff and location. Value for money. Had all the basics you need for a comfortable stay.
Review 50:The overall room stunk of stale cigarette, absolutely stupid design idea of sensor exhaust fan an bathroom, toilet leaked. Chain lock was broken, dirty wall marks, noisy location (room). Overall very poor effort I paid for two nights could only stay one it was that bad.
Review 51:Nothing really, maybe central location was the only highlight.
Review 52:A portable luggage rack would be useful. Toiletries were in squeeze dispensers and average quality. I'd prefer individual packets. For me, bed was too firm.
Review 53:Location excellent. Rooms feel bigger than they actually are. Staff welcoming.
Review 54:The beds were far too hard, and the fan would come on everytime you walked in the bathroom and because it's winter it made the room quite freezing.
Review 55:We came to go to a concert at the Capital Theatre and it was virtually across the road and a short walk to the city heart.
Review 56:Really uncomfortable bed and noise all night resulted in little sleep and a stiff body.
Review 57:Close to town, the spa was really good, free wifi worked fine, off street parking is good.
Review 58:TV so small, and so far away from the bed it was pretty much a waste of time watching. Very noisy group close by, possibly smokers gathered outside.
Review 59:Good location
Review 60:Room too small for a family. We were stepping over our suitcases to get anywhere. Toiletries were rubbish and the 'shampoo / soap' in the shower ran out. Definitely overpriced for what you get.
Review 61:Location of motel was great. Room had lots of brochures for sightseeing. Quite clean but if that is 4 stars then what a joke.
Review 62:bedspreads were dirty, everything a bit tired. showerhead dirty. toilet seat loose. stain (?blood?) found on bedspread when folded back.
Review 63:location and budget price
Review 64:The accommodation was clean and the beds comfortable. The access to the heart of Bendigo main township shops cafes was fantastic everything was within walking distance we only had to cross the road and we were watching the main parade Saturday night fireworks great weekend
Review 65:room was dirty when we arrived, house keeping incomplete every day, certainly not value for money, standards have slipped since last stay in October, will not be back
Review 66:Noise in early mornings from all the night club era returning to hotel. This appeared to be the party hotel rather than a family hotel.
Review 67:Walking distance to cafes and shops.
Review 68:the paint was peeling in the room, it needs a complete makeover to bring it up to scratch' overpriced for the condition of the room
Review 69:the staff were very friendly
Review 70:There was some kind of concert in a nearby park that was so loud, it sounded like it was literally across the road. Fortunately it stopped after 10pm.
Review 71:Very comfortable room, spotlessly clean, wifi was good. The free breakfast was delivered to the room. Receptionist was very friendly.
Review 72:Room size was small Car parking available but tight
Review 73:Great staff Comfortable room Clean room Easy continental breakfast Easy check in/out Hospitable Quiet location Recently renovated old motel
Review 74:I never like the pillows but that's my fault, l should bring my own with me
Review 75:Location is great, just a quick stroll into the centre of Bendigo. The Lady at booked us in on the Saturday was such a lovely lady. Would definitely stay again
Review 76:The room I stayed number 15 was small but I just spent one night so it was not important.
Review 77:I congratulate the Barclay on View management for the cleanliness of the pillow cases and bed sheets. For me it’s important to go to a hotel and feel comfortable and happy when I lay down on the CLEAN pillow cases and Bed Sheets. I could smell the cleanliness of them. Good location too. I would recommend this hotel.
Review 78:Not a complaint!, they have a small dining room (overall on a small block), so if you NEED to leave early, get your breakfast delivered to your room or put in the breakfast request early (allocated times) Or have a late breakfast and relax!
Review 79:THe location in almost the centre of bendigo and very close to the Bendigo Art Gallery. frrendly and accomodating staff even though the place was full
Review 80:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 81:It is within very easy walking distance to the Bendigo Arts Centre so safe to walk home after a concert at the capital theatre.
Review 82:The motion sensor operated fan in the bathroom; it came on when not needed (walking in to get a glass of water) but didn't when needed (to exhaust steam from the shower). Most annoying. There was no kitchen but basic essentials were in a cupboard.
Review 83:Close to gallery - our purpose for visiting Bendigo - restaurants, city centre and garden. Accessible free parking and wifi.
Review 84:The rooms were small
Review 85:it was in a great location. We could leave the car for the night and walk to great places to eat etc. The rooms were very clean and the reason we went to Bendigo was to find a dress for a wedding and the staff were very helpful and suggested a couple of places. It was a successful weekend
Review 86:nothing to dislike
Review 87:Staff very friendly and helpful Close to cafe's and bars Walking distance to centre of town one minute walk to Art Gallery Rooms very clean and spacious
Review 88:The neighbours were very noisy - but that stopped after a reasonable amount of time
Review 89:Clean, comfortable and friendly staff - good location to just stroll into town.
Review 90:1.The T.V. was situated far too high to view comfortably without arching my neck, which for me is bad. 2.Glad I brought my own pillow as those supplied are too high. Maybe supply one low pillow! 3.That I could only stay 3 nights.
Review 91:1.It was on the main road but a little out of the CBD. 2.My apartment was at the rear as I requested a quiet apartment. 3.I was able to access my room before 2pm. 4.Well stocked tea/coffee supply. 5.Very comfortable (firm) bed. 6.Very friendly reception staff.
Review 92:Parking was a bit tight for large cars.
Review 93:We were greeted so warmly when we arrived, it was as if we were long lost family! The room was clean and comfortable, shower hot and heating adequate, and the location an easy stroll to the Art Gallery and a selection of good cafes and bars. I'd definitely stay here again.
Review 94:The only thing we didn't like was the TV which was quite small for the room. That was the only adversity.
Review 95:We stayed here recently for 2 nights. The room was cosy & very clean. The hotel is very well located. It is in the 'Arts' precinct with cafés, restaurants & gift shops within walking distance. The hotel is also very close to the 'CBD' of Bendigo & is also within walking distance. We would recommend this hotel.
Review 96:Fantastic shops, cafes, museum, tea rooms, antiques, book store and more on the same street! Only a short walk to the main shopping center, Law Courts, park and other interesting sights. We took the bus to Bendigo and it is a short taxi ride from depot/train station to the Barkley.
Review 97:The rooms looked nothing like the photos. The spa and sauna were out of action and the gym only had two forms of equipment. The hotel was far from what was implied in the description. I'd not recommend people to stay.
Review 98:The size of the rom was too small. There was no room to put our case and the bench space in the bathroom was far from adequate. The shower floor was very slippery too.
Review 99:The bed was quite comfortable. The electric blanket was nice as was the heating.
Review 100:Room far to small. Appeared different from the photo when booked - felt deceived when I opened door!!!! Would have booked elsewhere if I new what I was going to receive.
Review 101:Was central and clean establishment.
Review 102:main negative was the TV screen a touch small. Another picture on wall or wall paper on far wall away from the bed would pick up the decor. A bathroom heater would be a plus for winter.
Review 103:The room was a good size. Quality drapes kept the winter cold out and heating was adequate Desk for laptop with convenient points. The bar fridge had a sensible menu. Bonus toaster included was well used.
Review 104:The location to the city and restuaraunts was great . Excelant staff and facilities
Review 105:Small "Queen-size" bed No comfortable chair to watch tv
Review 106:Location Quiet Friendly and efficient
Review 107:Pool was a bit mucky.
Review 108:Nice huge clean room. Great for a family.
Review 109:No Pool
Review 110:Location
Review 111:Good location, close to city, had everything you'd expect for the price.
Review 112:Overall not bad,satistied
Review 113:Location wonderful
Review 114:the parking and lack of shade
Review 115:the quietness of the room along the facilities available to guests
Review 116:Toilet can't flush properly of room 26 on the first floor
Review 117:Room is clean, location is perfect
Review 118:No bad experience just that the room was a very small room for the amount of money that was paid
Review 119:Everything was perfect. Friendly helpful management. A short walk to the Capitol theatre, pubs and restaurants.
Review 120:Central to shopping and cafes. Given that it was a very hot day, 40 plus, the room was cool
Review 121:Cheerfully catered for our inability to have dairy. Very friendly and helpful.
Review 122:Nil
Review 123:Everything.
Review 124:Location as it was a short stay whilst on the GVBR. Staff were extremely accommodating. It was clean and comfortable and a reasonable price.
Review 125:Nothing to mention
Review 126:Proximity to CBD
Review 127:The motel is very well located to the numerous venues and cafes. The motel has great parking area & use of a laundry. Also a wonderful spa room.
Review 128:Staff were very helpful and friendly
