Reviews for Sandman Signature London Gatwick

Review 1:Nothing to do with the hotel but there was a disagreeable guest who blocked service at the bar for quite a time over a rather pathetic issue around the wine she'd chosen - the bar lady dealt admirably with the guest but we didn't stay for long which was a shame as we'd been looking forward to a drink!

Review 2:Cheerful welcoming staff, comfortable room and a convenient stop over for our flight the following day

Review 3:We stayed over as we was going on a early flight from gatwick,we stayed with our 1 year child and it was so lovely. Beds were comfy the room was gorgeous. We also left our car there for the week while we was away. Free taxi to and from the airport too. And the staff were really friendly even at 3am hahaha

Review 4:Reception and breakfast area looked tired. Breakfast one dimensional.

Review 5:Room was modern and immaculate. Great value. Helpful staff when key card not working.

Review 6:This is a modern hotel, just recently built. It is beyond me, how they can install a ventilator-based A/C that makes noises like a tractor. I was given an electric heater, because I could not sleep this way. Also, to say to guests that, on New Year's Eve, staff goes home earlier and breakfast time is shorter, does not show commitment to guests. The continental breakfast is poor, with industrially packed cheeses, but the full English is well done. Finally, the hotel is not ideally located. Essentially, you need a taxi each way to the airport. You can also take a train and go one stop, but then you have to walk for 20-30 minutes. Many people you ask for the hotel do not know it; it is a little hidden, next to a big by-pass (though rooms are well isolated).

Review 7:The hotel rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable, true 4-star quality (no filled minibar, but this has become rare anyhow). Staff is friendly. The price was very good, but you may have to add the taxi costs.

Review 8:Very slow check in, no towels by pool/spa & pool staff rude & unhelpful (waited 30 mins for towels freezing cold before going back to room!)

Review 9:Good refurbished rooms, great breakfast and quiet.

Review 10:Very noisy water pipes which clattered on and off from very early in morning. Impossible to sleep through the noise.

Review 11:Great room very nicely furnished and comfortable and excellent shower. Tea and coffee facilities, fridge, microwave.

Review 12:The front of hotel and the reception area doesn't look very grand on entering.

Review 13:When walking into reception I was a little dissapointed as it wasn't anything grand..So was apprehensive as to what my room would be like. However, I needn't have worried.. It was incredible! Very happy with my room on the 6th floor.

Review 14:Just one thing lacking- the bus or minibus connection with the airport. Very surprised that we had to book a taxi !

Review 15:Everything was fine - great room and bed. Friendly staff. Value for money

Review 16:food wise, poor value for money. The lights kept fusing out had to have reception come up to he room twice to replace the fuse. This happened again at 5am whilst getting ready for the flight had to use mobile phone light to get ready...

Review 17:Perfect location easy to find

Review 18:no cheap option in restaurant and chairs in the bar were not omfortabe

Review 19:staff were realy helpfull and very friendly ,rooms were very comfortable clean and spacious.

Review 20:The breakfast on Christmas Eve morning was later than normal time and unfortunately we were not informed prior to our arrival. So we had to skip breakfast before a longhaul flight the next morning which a bit ruined the start of our holiday.

Review 21:The bedroom spacious and bed is very comfortable. It's very clean too.

Review 22:The inconsiderate guests next door who woke us up at 3:30am with their shouting and noisy children.

Review 23:The comfortable beds, the nice fluffy towels, very pleasant decor with everything we needed for our stay.

Review 24:They got rid of the bathtubs :-( There were works going on on my floor at 9am. Definitely not impressed as it meant I couldn't have a lie in due to the drilling and banging. I was not advised that this would happen.

Review 25:Bed was really comfortable. Shower was great. Room was nice and subdued in terms of design.

Review 26:Cleanliness could be improved. Also we asked for a wake up call at 3:30am (I wrote this on the form when we checked in and it was also discussed with the receptionist) but this didn't happen. So lucky we set the alarm also otherwise we would have missed our plane.

Review 27:Good rooms that were of a high standard and spacious, just didn't feel like it was as clean as it could have been.

Review 28:Gym doesn't open until 7am so could t use it before leaving to catch my flight at Gatwick also sauna and spa area being renovated so couldn't use these either. Room walls are thin so noise from other rooms and the corridor travelled easily.

Review 29:Staff were friendly

Review 30:The air conditioning was incredibly loud, which was unfortunate. The breakfast was ok, but not brilliant

Review 31:The staff were very nice, and the room was lovely

Review 32:The windows don't not open. Food at the restaurant a bit overpriced.

Review 33:The rooms are well equipped with Iron, small fridge and microwave, high pressure shower, desk and a very comfortable chair, this is a very important item if you are intending to work long hours. Staff are very helpful always trying to get to the extra mile. Swimming pool, unfortunately did not have enough time to try it. It is a bit far from Gatwick North Terminal, but I still would prefer staying at Sandman Signature.

Review 34:Nothing what so ever

Review 35:Nothing to fault really just a relaxing stay not that I go around looking for things to moan about I've used booking.com on a few occasions and always been satisfied

Review 36:Breakfast finished too early so we missed it.

Review 37:We were on the 6th floor which has just been done up. Our room and bathroom were excellent. The large shower, bathroom mirror, fridge, safe, iron, television, sofa and comfy non squeaky bed!! Also good parking facility allowing us to go in and out during our stay.

Review 38:Nice and helpful personal, clean rooms equipped with all necessary (even microwave). The breakfast was tasty and a lot of food to choose. I liked a lot of fruit, even during December. To make a long story short, I lioked the hotel very much, would definitely visit it again should there be opprtunity.

Review 39:When I arrived, I had to pay up front for the 4 nights and I was askedif I want to pay in eur with my credit card and their bank terminalovercharged me 24 eur extra which I felt was a ripp off and the staffdid not warn me about this "scam" :( very dissappointed!

Review 40:Good breakfast,good location!

Review 41:jacuzzi steam/sauna? room not working crawley restaurants. stay in hotel.

Review 42:Breakfast 5star pool good location v good lifts are fast. bar food excellent

Review 43:Expensive, was expecting a nicer restaurant. No help offered with bags etc. Only one set of shower gels provided even though there were two of us.

Review 44:Room was comfortable. Wifi free.

Review 45:Reception said I had booked 2 rooms and only admitted this was their mistake after 10-15 mins. discussion with a manager. Gatwick's monopoly taxi costs £16 to the hotel (10-15 mins.) Recommend prebooking with another local taxi service.

Review 46:Good sized; well-equipped (small fridge & microwave); Quiet; Comfortable large bed. Prompt fixed price taxi to airport.

Review 47:Nothing really.

Review 48:We stayed here because we had an early flight. Staff very helpful. The room was very clean and well equipped and it was nice and quiet, no next room held blaring etc. We may have been lucky but I would definitely stay here if we use Gatwick airport again

Review 49:Whilst waiting for a taxi Hotel guests were standing outside main entrance and smoking. A dedicated smoking area away from the entrance would be better

Review 50:standard of the room and bathroom were superb, well presented and immaculate will stay again.

Review 51:paid for my room and parking when i checked in but on departure the man at reception insisted that payment was not made. I knew it had cos i checked my bank account. He was not very polite and i felt uncomfortable.

Review 52:nice comfy bed tv although sound was tinny parkng cafe bar wifi mostly staff were helpful

Review 53:I went into the public toilets near reception they really need redecorating cleaning and also just outside lots of marks on wood work in need of redecorating more signage for gym and pool etc

Review 54:Beds are excellent room warm and comfy

Review 55:Parking is a bit of a mess. Had really troubles finding a parking space. Managed to squeeze in into the last place available

Review 56:Very modern, great beds,

Review 57:I booked the sandman gatwick hotel for a one night stay, before our flight to Disneyland Paris, unfortunately I had to cancel our holiday to Disney last minute, it broke my heart telling my 7 year old why we couldn't go, but she understood why when I told her about the terrible situation in Paris, she just said mummy are all the children safe. I rang the hotel and explained what happened and asked if I could book another night, and told my daughter that we will visit London for two days instead of Disney. When we arrived at the hotel, hey had upgraded our room, it was amazing, the also left a note in the room for my daughter to say sorry that she could not go Disney land, and left her like to of princess gifts, I nearly cried when I read the note, what a kind thought, not many hotels would do that The staff were amazing the service too, my daughter said she felt like royalty, we had a great two days looking around London, it was so nice after a busy day to arrive back to our comfy room. I can't thank the staff enough, after months of counting down the days to Disney, to find out you can't go was so upsetting, but the hotel made up for that. What amazing people

Review 58:There needs to be a sign at the start of the driveway, not just at the roundabout turn... Left and then sharp left!

Review 59:The staff were extremely helpful. Rooms are well appointed. Very relaxing stay.

Review 60:One of my party, despite having a Do Not Disturb sign on her door, was disturbed at 8am by a cleaner who barged into the room. As we had only arrived at the hotel at 3am this was far from ideal!

Review 61:Fabulously helpful front of desk staff (especially Jak).

Review 62:Not applicable

Review 63:The hotel staff were very helpful and the room was not only spotlessly clean but very well appointed, excellent bathroom, loved the vanity mirror with light, shower was superb, also touches such as two wine glasses to use if wanted. Actually would have been happy to stay longer, never had a chance to check out the pool

Review 64:I felt I wasn't treated very well at all at the reception on our arrival, he totally embarrassed me on a number of occasions because there was a problem with taking payments off my Barclays debit card by one particular member of staff who made it known to anyone who was within ear distance that my card was declined. when I explained there was a major problem with Barclays themselves he wasn't interested

Review 65:Quality of hotel for the money is amazing

Review 66:Food a little bit pricey, maybe.

Review 67:Friendly staff, decent bar and bar food, room was very well furbished, clean, well appointed. Seriously, for the money ( I didn't pay for a breakfast ), you can't beat this place! I have stayed in far worse places for far more money. 15 minute drive to Gatwick airport

Review 68:All week there was building work being done in the rooms above and carpentry sawing and banging was irritating.

Review 69:Nice room layout , relaxed sofa tv area. Lovely views of planes landing and taking off. A good shower area.

Review 70:Location and easy to find. Staff were very helpful and the food quality was excellent. I attended a dinner for 65 people and the meal was good and well served.

Review 71:Swimming pool was closed 2 times in 6 days because of maintenance. Should have been done out of opening hours. What was positive that once we could go there in 20 min, after I told to the receptionist that we chose the hotel because our daughter loves to swim. That was very nice!

Review 72:Friendly, polite, helpful and fast staff. Delicious food in the restaurant. Flexible and solution oriented attitude. Quiet, clean and comfortable place.

Review 73:Keys wouldn't work in the door after the first night! Neither would the card for the car park which under the circumstances was a bit of a pain!

Review 74:Friendly staff and a lovely clean room.

Review 75:Air condition in our room was not very effective.

Review 76:The staff are friendly, the hotel is clean & food is quite good. Above all, we were able to secure a room with fridge & microwave at a short notice.

Review 77:Limited room service menu even though said 24 hours needs more tea coffee in room but very small things did not effect our stay.

Review 78:Very clean and comfortable rooms helpful staff

Review 79:The gym is accessed via the bar and separate from the pool which means you have to walk through the hotel passed people sitting in the breakfast area to get to the pool which is a little disconcerting.

Review 80:The hotel is going through a refurb and the rooms they have done are an excellent space. Nicely laid out although the desk position is a little odd. They do need to do some more work.

Review 81:Very noisy in the mornings . Struggled to park car had to park elsewhere one evening even though we had paid £5 parking fee.

Review 82:Overall a very pleasant experience. Would definatly stay here again.

Review 83:The whirring noise which was 'sorted' anyway!

Review 84:We loved the personal service from Jak, the manager who looked after us with free drinks and a choice of moving rooms when we noticed a dull whirring noise. We reckoned it was from the extractor fans next door in the business centre.

Review 85:The room was on the 6th floor and had large heating ducts running through it - although these were tastefully boxed in the ambient noise was very loud - all through the night The leisure facilities are being upgraded - the gym is poorly equipped & sauna & jacuzzi out of action

Review 86:Location & room furnishings were brilliant - Breakfast was excellent

Review 87:Fridge unstocked, had to put a glass of hot water into it to achieve a glass of cold water. Shower very hard to operate and no inbstructions.

Review 88:Nice room and courteous staff

Review 89:I couldn't get the TV to work consistently. I managed to get it on and on the channel I wanted eventually in the evening - but in the morning I failed again! The coffee at breakfast was very weak.

Review 90:The staff were helpful, polite and also had a good sense of humour. The bed was very clean and comfortable and the shower was gorgeous!

Review 91:Loud construction work at 8am, luckily we did not have an earlier outbound flight. On our return stay we did not have a room. Despite checking with reception staff before we left for our holiday we were informed I had booked the wrong date for a 3am check in. My booking even stated that we would be arriving in the early hours of the morning. No record on the system that we had checked this before leaving and no availability. Had to drive 3 hours home.

Review 92:Ideal location for airport. Free room upgrade outbound.

Review 93:bathroom didn't have an extractor fan and so when we had showers in the morning the bathroom got very steamy and took a long time to clear.

Review 94:hotel was ideally placed for us to travel to Gatwick Airport. Was lovely and clean and rooms were terrific value for money. Bathroom very luxurious.

Review 95:Abovegood apart from

Review 96:Everything except the attitude of reception staff. Booking.com did not make us aware of interior noisy maintenance work and reception staff were disinterested and in my opinion rude and arrogant towards a complaining guest

Review 97:The room was spacious, very quiet, with great decoration, beds comfortable, bathroom excellent with towels shampoo body gel. It had a microwave oven and a mini fridge which along with the tesco nearby allowed me to make my breakfast and dinner in the room. It also has hairdryer and iron but I didn't use those. Aircondition worked. Free Wifi signal in the room excellent and fast. Pool was free, very nice, big enough, clean, open from 7am to 9 pm Definitely recommend - a true 4 star hotel.

Review 98:Very good value and good location not far from Gatwick. Airport transfers with Ace Cars can be arranged and this costs 8.50. Otherwise a standard taxi from the airport costs 16 pounds so it is worth booking with Ace Cars. Hotel is about 30mins walk into Crawley centre of town, several nice restaurants and the old high street is nice to look around. Breakfast not too bad, avoid the sausages but I think that is true of the UK in general!

Review 99:Had to change two rooms because on the first one the air condition was not working and on the second the noise coming from the upper floor was unbearable

Review 100:The interior of the rooms is superior

Review 101:Expected different menus in bar and restaurant but they were same food and prices

Review 102:Very comfortable close to airport good for one night flying to or from Gatwick.

Review 103:The room was amazing and even had a microwave but the only negative is that the room was so hot and we couldn't t adjust the air con .

Review 104:The room was so spacious and modern . We had 15 days on site parking with private transfers via taxi there and back from gatwick airport which was all included in our room rate.

Review 105:I can't think of anything that I didn't like but i would say the lifts could've been a bit bigger or spacious.

Review 106:I liked everything from the members of the staffs to the facalities at the hotel. Staffs were really professional and helpful. Hotel was very neat and tidy with very comfortable beds.

Review 107:The food at the hotel was quite generic. With everything else being excellent, what was on offer at the restaurant seemed quite boring.

Review 108:The bed - extremly comfortable. The room layout is very nice. One

Review 109:Requires a taxi ride from Gatwick but the return journey was half price using the taxi service suggested by the hotel

Review 110:Very high standard for a hotel at Gatwick. Very comfortable rooms. Only took 30 minutes from leaving room to passing through the check in desk

Review 111:Parking charges for residents are unclear - I was charged £5 overnight, my friends weren't. I believe if you book direct with the hotel it's free but if you obtain a discounted rate through Booking .com and make that known, you will have to pay. Bar and restaurant prices are a little on the high side but I suppose not too unreasonable for a quality hotel.

Review 112:Staff were very efficient obliging and friendly. Facilities and cleanliness of room/bathroom were excellent. Free use of pool. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Review 113:Not the hotels fault, but on my 3rd night a couple were having a blazing row (mainly the guy) at 3am could hear every word and they were going on holiday together almost called reception as I feared for her safety.

Review 114:It was very clean and the rooms were ideal and smart in particular I like the small microwave gave so many options. Staff very helpful really good value for money.

Review 115:Heat in bedroom was unbearable and could not get the air con working. Windows do not open. Parking on arrival a nightmare.

Review 116:Friendly Staff. Accepts Pets. Spacious Rooms. Comfortable Beds. Conveniently Located just of M25.

Review 117:On 7th floor noise from aircon all night presumably on the roof (but good view!). No bath in Executive room, missed my breakfast order on first night - had to ring down at 10AM to get it delivered. Wasn't very hot even in the restaurant.

Review 118:Rooms, fantastic wifi, comfy not-overly hard beds, free secure parking, nice quality bar meals.

Review 119:We were on the 6th floor and it was unbearably hot. The air conditioning was weak and practically useless unless you were sat directly opposite the vent (not where the bed was!) so unfortunately we didn't sleep well.

Review 120:Excellent staff, beautiful facilities, clean spacious room

Review 121:Location is not great, as it is in a residential area, with no restaurants/amenities closeby (other than what is in the hotel), therefore, you're paying "hotel prices" for dinner and breakfast. We were also given wrong directions by one of their city bus drivers!

Review 122:10-15 min walk away from the Three Bridges rail station (this should be stipulated, as we first used the Crawley train station, which is a 40 min walk!), very clean, comfortable, very modern, great deal through this website,

Review 123:Noisy air con, only 1 extra pillow, walls quite thin as we could hear doors banging along with people talking most of the night

Review 124:The foyer is eye catching

Review 125:Very noisy renovations between 9am and 4pm which I knew nothing about until I heard them. Food and drink very expensive.

Review 126:The location appeared very tranquil. The rooms were well equipped.

Review 127:The hotel is relatively poorly situated for Gatwick airport - something it must share with many dozens of other hotels in the area. Once you have reached Gatwick airport from the north you will need another 10 minute train ride to Three Bridges and a taxi from the railway station unless you don't mind a 20 minute walk from the station. The breakfast was acceptable but mediocre with very weak coffee and rather too many low budget items such as the jam, fruit and yogurt.

Review 128:I liked the comfort and facilities within the room. It was possible to spend all my time there privately, quietly and undisturbed. It was pleasant to have a good sofa as well as a bed and the bathroom is of a high standard of fixtures and fittings.

Review 129:A little annoyed to be told restaurant was fully booked at 6pm even though it seemed very quiet in there, but bar had same menu and a little less informal

Review 130:hotel easy to find, nice to have parking validated. Rooms in my opinion were exceptional especially for the price we paid.. Breakfast was very good for £10

Review 131:Bar staff we ordered 3 drinks & coffee got drinks at once , coffee 15 mins wait had ask for coffee the staff forgot Then we ordered bar snacks 45 min wait we had to ask again bar staff then went to get our food we had travelled from Bath to Gatwick that day ariving 8.30pm 9pm tired & hungry

Review 132:When I telephone for information on how to get from from coach to the sandman I was given excellent information & direction of how to get to you & ace taxis service was brilliant The comfort facility cleanliness on the room very good reception good

Review 133:Wasn't a great deal of parking. Didn't find a space one evening so had to park anywhere we could

Review 134:Hotel looked and felt great. Room was clean, warm and comfortable and staff were always happy to help.

Review 135:Room smelt of vomit on arrival and lingered. Toilet paper poor quality, complimentary toiletries were in adequate. Room door card was temperamental.

Review 136:Facilities in room,microwave,fridge.

Review 137:They did not have our rooms although we booked over a month previously. The evening meal awas expensive for what you got . We had to keep asking for service. The staff was too busy snapping at each other.

Review 138:This was a last minute booking as our flight was delayed and we couldn't get to our original hotel. As such we took no advantage of any facilities or restuarants, we got in very late and left early. The hotel was 100% what we needed at that point, warm, comfy and handy.

Review 139:Wifi in room not good. There is no shuttle bus to and from airport. But there is a bus, get number 20 from airport south to Tesco. TV picture dark. No tea in room 2nd day. Lot of noise, walls thin and did not like the adjoining door to my room, I know it was locked but being alone was very weary of someone coming in.

Review 140:Very posh. Lovely big room and massive comfy bed. Magnifying mirror and light beside in bathroom, great for putting on makeup. Tesco nearby. Asked bar staff for some milk so I could have cereal for my supper, he gave me a large glass for free.

Review 141:The only really disappointing thing was that coffee at breakfast was so poor in flavour! I would have liked a bit more friendliness from the main Receptionist on duty, but that was made up for by other staff later.

Review 142:Attractive and comfortable room which was very thoughtfully laid out. We loved the hotel swimming pool and the view from our rooms of the planes taking off and landing (no noise just a wonderful view). The breakfast was excellent.
