Reviews for The Gables

Review 1:We had a lovely stay. Cat in the house was very friendly. The breakfast was good and the hosts were happy to provide us an early breakfast on the 2nd day as we had to leave. It was convenient to walk to the beach and the town centre was also nearby. Overall we were satisfied with the place.

Review 2:We were disappointed with the clealiness of the bathroom which could have been cleaner, but the bedroom was comfortable and clean.

Review 3:Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Tea and coffee in the room, plus a bathroom well stocked with toiletries was a pleasant surprise. Perfect location for what we wanted.

Review 4:Very loud extractor fan in bathroom (Rm 4) Chaise-long in room quite uncomfortable No dedicated lounge

Review 5:Friendliness of owner Cleanliness Size and quality of breakfasts Convenience of location

Review 6:The room was very nice, comfy bed, good facilities, windows were bit draughty but it was an exceptionally windy weekend. Breakfast on both mornings was delicious. And the cat was very chatty and friendly!

Review 7:Paid for room with bath and balcony but given a room with no balcony and only a shower. Explanation was we had been "upgraded". Bathroom was small, cold and rather grubby. Two bulbs on chandelier and one of the bedside lamps not working. Virtually impossible to sit on sofa as springs and stuffing were very bad. As we were only there for 3 nights we did not make a fuss.

Review 8:A good choice of cereals etc. and a well cooked English breakfast. Close to town centre and beach. Bottled water in room on arrival plus plenty of teas etc. and a few biscuits.

Review 9:The beds although well made and clean were not as comfortable as I would have liked

Review 10:Convenient for shops and beaches ,breakfast was very good , the cat oliver was a sweety

Review 11:T.V. A BIT SMALL AND HARD TO FIND CHANNELS. VERY HARD TO FIND LIGHTING FOR TOILET / WASHROOM IN ROOM 2. HOTTEST TAP WATER I HAVE EVER KNOWN.

Review 12:VERY FLEXIBLE BREAKFAST MENU, VERY FREINDLY CAT, VERY FLEXIBLE OWNERS. CLOSE TO BEACH AND CENTRE OF TOWN.

Review 13:No early breakfast offered.

Review 14:Close to nature reserves, restaurants etc. Plenty of overnight parking space. Good breakfasts. Good sea views from some rooms.

Review 15:Stairs were steep and I had great difficulty in getting my heavy suitcase up them! There was no heating in the room and I was cold. I asked for drinking water bottles which although supplied initially, didn't appear after the first 2 days.

Review 16:The welcome was very friendly, with help and advice on the directions to get there from the bus station. Plenty of choice of breakfast cereals, including yoghurts. Tinned grapefruit and apricot which tasted "strange" Cooked breakfast was fine. Plenty of milk and fruit juice on each table. The shower was very good - instant hot water which was easy to use. I liked the fact that there was an iron to press my clothes although it was difficult without an ironing board.

Review 17:Couldn't get wifi, couldn't see tenses like mentioned form room, lock to room was bit dodgy and no sea view from our room like mentioned

Review 18:Great food , great service. Great location, easy parking.

Review 19:Room very comfortable but a little on the small side, especially shower.e

Review 20:location excellant. Breakfast, really good choice of cooked or numerous different cereals. Very friendly staff & resident cat Oliver was an added bonus.

Review 21:The room would benefit from a minor refurb. Some elements of the en-suite were a bit tired. The ornate mirrors were very dusty.Discoloured grouting and some black mould arond the bath sealant. The hot water got extremely hot to the extent that the cold water became hot and had to be run for sometime to get cold again. Cobwebs were a general feature in our room and in the dining room (Bottom L/H side of Rad to the wall) and looked as if they had been there for quite a while. Lack of a welcome pack containing information about Hunstanton, things to do places to go and local restaurants etc.

Review 22:The room was reasonable with a comfortable double bed that did not creak or squeak. Breakfast was excellent. The location was good being quiet yet only a short walk from the beach.

Review 23:Staff very friendly and helpful. Bedding smelt wonderful. Toiletries in bathroom excellent. Wide choice of breakfast beautifully cooked and presented.

Review 24:We forgot to let them know when we were arriving and got a very harsh telling off. And the last available room which was the converted garage, no view (except for the shoes of passersby) little windows up high. Through which the cat entered and took a flying leap onto the bed in the middle of the night. Breakfast not as nice as reviewed by other: Eggs fried in oil, mushrooms microwaved...tells it all. Also got order wrong the second day.

Review 25:Location very good to walk to promenade and high street. Found street parking in front of house or near. Lady preparing breakfast was friendly and helpful.

Review 26:We had "superior" room but TV didn't work properly and can't be seen from the bed. Window propped up with piece of wood. Curtains falling down.

Review 27:Breakfast good but mouldy marmalade on sideboard. Bathroom supplies good ...shampoo etc ...

Review 28:The room was lovely, a lot of thought has gone into ensuring guests have everything they need, breakfast was amazing. Absolutely loved the Gables will be going back and not just because I am missing Oliver the plant pot cat.

Review 29:- Corridors, though clean, had a funny wet cat smell. - T.V very small. - Shower not very good.

Review 30:-Room very clean and comfortable bed -Breakfast very good -Friendly owners/staff -Good location

Review 31:Poor mobile reception in the area so not technically the property's fault! For some reason the cold water tap in our bathroom ran hot before it went cold.

Review 32:Friendly and comfortable and near to the sea.

Review 33:No shower in the ensuite.dissappointing ensuite needed the hospital .no info in the room ref hospital or doctor whereabouts.room a bit cramped but overall good

Review 34:Food.ambience location but no lounge to relax in

Review 35:nothing...

Review 36:everything, the amazing sea view room which was great, the well thought out room and how clean it was,the great breakfast which would please anyone and of course the friendly staff and house cat all ready to make your stay a good one*****

Review 37:Nothing. It wasn't possible to find anything to dislike about our short stay.

Review 38:Everyone that we met during our stay was helpful, happy and amenable. Their attitude couldn't be faulted.

Review 39:En-suite only had a hand held shower. No good for someone who can't get in or out of bath!

Review 40:Very convenient for town and facilities. Good breakfasts.

Review 41:Only a door separating us from what I think was main accommodation. Could hear TV and dog clearly but noise didn't go on late so wasn't too bad.

Review 42:Such a great breakfast selection. Liked the little touch of bottled water in the room. Shower great

Review 43:Huntstanton is a lovely clean place to visit. We were please with our choice of accomadation, as the hosts were really friendly, and will visit again in the future.

Review 44:the owner very abrupt the breakfast sausage was supermarket kind and not good butchers sausage no hot water untill 7 30 both mornings cereal dish was chipped and friut juice glasses had seen better days and the owner was dressed like a 1960s hippie not smart at all

Review 45:not a lot

Review 46:I can't honestly say anything negative about The Gables.

Review 47:Everything about The Gables was lovely. We arrived and got upgraded to king size with a sea view at no extra cost, the room was beautiful and very clean. The owners were really friendly and made us feel at home. Location was perfect too: literally 2 minute walk to the seafront, and same again to the town centre and amenities. We'll be going back there for definite.

Review 48:we usualy stay near to the gable in another B&B but they were full so we thought we would give the Gables a try , after reading their reviews, there is a moto on the Gables wall; better to travel in hope than to arrive,at the Gables so true, back to the Burliey next time. only seen Linda once on arrival Richard did serving at breakfast, room ok breakfast ok, wouldnt go back

Review 49:location,

Review 50:No internet was difficult. Breakfast was OK, nothing special.

Review 51:Great location for walking along the Hunstanton cliffs and beach. Cozy very warm room despite cold outside.

Review 52:The cat was meowing and scratching at the door continuously from 5a.m the first morning of our stay. Whilst I am a cat person and knew there was a house cat it was a bit annoying although I did not mention it to the owner. Room a bit cold but other than that good B&B

Review 53:Room clean Breakfast was very good Location was very good

Review 54:Most things overall, including cat waking us in morning.Would liked to have seen more of our hostess though. Was wondering if a charger for our phones was found in room. Will pay postage if so.

Review 55:very small poky ensuite - room had a damp musty air. The host husband needs to improve his table waiting practice (stuck his fingers in my unfinished yoghurt and removed the carton top without asking).

Review 56:Room had a superb view on 2nd floor. Fresh linen and bedmaking good but a low bed with soft mattress. Food generous and home cooked breakfast.

Review 57:Not Applicable

Review 58:Welcome when we arrived and the plate of scones & jam in our room was a nice touch.Room very comfortable able to come & go as we pleased. Gables within walking distance of all amenities. Cooked breakfast excellent. Hospitality from home to home guaranteed.

Review 59:nothing

Review 60:everything was so relaxed, booked for a two night long weekend ,had room 1 with views of the sea ,all toiletries were provided ,as was bottled water ,tea making facilities ,which were replaced daily, the bed was so comfy and once you had the breakfast you had found your little piece of heaven .The extra added bonus for us was Oliver Boots the cat he was lovely added a real touch of home

Review 61:Although the guest house was fairly clean unfortunately in some public areas there were cobwebs especially in the dining room by the window

Review 62:The owners made us very welcome. The location had a lovely sea view and the breakfast was cooked just as we liked it. The room was nice with a king size bed and it was spacious.

Review 63:There is nothing I can think of that I didn't like.

Review 64:Staff very friendly and helpful. The house looked very nice, short walk to beach and the quality of ingredients and taste of the breakfast was very good. The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 65:FROM A HYGEINIC POINT OF VIEW WOULD HAVE EXPECTED RICHARD TO HAVE TIED HIS HAIR BACK WHILST SERVING BREAKFAST

Review 66:LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT .OUR ROOM HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED . BREAKFAST WAS SUPERB IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE MET LINDA .RICHARD WAS VERY HELPFUL.WE ENJOYED OUR STAY.

Review 67:Only one very small thing- perhaps slightly bigger towels would be useful. :)

Review 68:Wonderful B&B. Made to feel very welcome by the owners. Really comfortable beds, great breakfast and everywhere lovely and clean. We had room six, spacious and light. Loved our stay and would go back gladly.

Review 69:No minus views!

Review 70:First time in this resort, didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the decor at The Gables, it was Bed and Breakfast and a good choice on the Breakfast Menu.

Review 71:Starting with the welcome, first class. Up in the room you get a welcome Scone & Jam with a bottle of mineral water & 2 pkts of biscuits. Comfy beds. Breakfast was a feast, Fruit & juice, cereals, Full cooked breakfast & toast. (stuffed when we finished) Excellent better than some of the hotels we have paid more for in London.

Review 72:Although it is stated on the web site that the B&B does not take card payment, it would be useful if this information was included in the booking.com confirmation. We didn't realise this before departure.

Review 73:The room was comfortable and light. The breakfast good with lots of choice. The couple who run the B&B were friendly and accommodating.

Review 74:If you have not eaten by nine it's difficult to find dinning, the hotel decoration was a little dated and the shower head whilst clean was very scaled and old it might seem picky but these things matter top floor shower didn't have much water pressure but please do note these are tiny bug bears it didn't spoil our trip or the fact that we would recommend to others and return . Could also do with a mini fridge in the room was difficult to keep milk for tea cold with out going down three floors to the fridge in the hall way , the curtains would not all close but again as busy as they are it must be difficult to get small things done so again it would not stop me staying there

Review 75:Friendly people lovely place excellent destination to relax with miles of coastline and great pubs the people whom own the gables are welcoming warm and friendly and when we asked for a bottle opener we came back to our room to find it there with two wine glasses and tea cakes such a lovely touch they really are lovely people the views were great, really close to everything whilst being quiet the square outside with the sensory garden was wonderful having disabled children ourselves it touched us to see. The place is uber dog friendly which we love it's a place for everyone and anyone that wants beautiful coastline sandy beaches and safe for kids although I would hasten to say the cliffs are dangerous and it should be taken seriously

Review 76:Being asked what we wanted for breakfast on check in at 1700. Apparantly it is too chaotic to order it on the day

Review 77:The room was comfortable with crisp white sheets and comfortable pillows

Review 78:A minor thing really just the fact that on street parking meant that after taking a trip out in the car you had to start looking for another space on your return.

Review 79:Good sized room ,Lovely breakfast .stayed in the King-sized annexe room ,private good en -suite with adequate WiFi signal. Good tea making facilities with a complimentary Scone and Butter ,Bed was clean and comfortable !

Review 80:Nothing.
