Reviews for Rooms At 29 Bruce Street
Review 1:Good location if you fancy a wander. Lots of takeaways close by and the pub just 100yds down the road serves a good pint. And if you're into a disco you get free admission when you show your key.
Review 2:The only down side was the night club next door was woke up early hours on Sunday morning with the club finishing.
Review 3:The hotel was local to the shops so made it a perfect weekend.
Review 4:Being next door to a nightclub and hearing loud drunk people shout and fight outside our window. The queensize bed was 2 singles stuck together, could feel where the 2 eges met, really uncomfortable.
Review 5:Food was good, room was nice. Staff were friendly
Review 6:Family rooms placed over night club unable to sleep Friday or Saturday nightt
Review 7:Great Hotel. Brilliant food, Staff were pleasant helpful and couldn't do enough to help.
Review 8:Lovely spacious room and very good breakfast. A little noise through the night but to be expected in such a central location. Would definitely stay again.
Review 9:Small and noisy room due to large extractor fan at window. Very uncomfortable bed. No view looked out at a wall and littered flat roof. (empty water bottles etc)
Review 10:Good location and breakfast
Review 11:It is accepted that there is no hotel car park but this is compensated by there being ample paying car parks available in the close vicinity of the hotel.
Review 12:Very good selection at breakfast and restaurant menu in evening excellent. Staff very friendly and couteous..
Review 13:My room looked out on to a brick ledge on which sat all the air conditioning units for the rooms in that row. My room was 108. I hardly slept it was so noisy. A shame because it is a nice place other than this.
Review 14:Location. Nice comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.
Review 15:View of brick wall from room. Would have liked hot chocolate as well as tea & coffee in room.
Review 16:In centre, easy to walk to abbey/park as well as restaurants & bars. Rooms basic but clean. Staff friendly. Was quiet midweek but nightclub directly next door so perhaps avoid weekends!
Review 17:Very little staff. Clef price on day of stay and it was more than twenty pounds cheaper. No one at reception when I arrived so had to find someone
Review 18:Central location
Review 19:Bed was exteremely soft. Room only had one dining room style chair making viewing television very difficult (TV was high up on wall). Given the space in the room two armchairs could easily have fitted or even a small sofa.
Review 20:Hotel located very centrally. We were upgraded to a king room as hotel was quiet giving us a lovely big room. Staff were efficient and friendly. We asked for more milk and pillows both of which we received with no problem. We were in Dunfermline for a concert and this hotel was ideal for our needs.
Review 21:We booked a double bed in a family room (1 double bed+1 single bed)when we arrived was 3 single beds we approach to the reception and he said sorry but booking.com not specified your preferences and my staff are off today, mattress was horrible we ending with sore back =(
Review 22:Location was great, easy to find so close to the shops and the bus station, clean place, nice breakfast
Review 23:There was no view ( looking into a wall) but as we were only there for an overnight stay and arrived late in the evening this didn't bother us too much
Review 24:The location, the fact that we could check in at any time (We were at a concert so were checking in between 10 and 11pm) We also enjoyed the freshly cooked breakfast
Review 25:Attention to detail is lacking. Replace lightbulbs in room, and bathroom. broken door stop, Replace refreshment tray consistently. One night two milks, another night four milks, one day coffee sachets, on another day, none.
Review 26:Good bathroom, with plenty of hot water
Review 27:1. Unbearable noise from the night club until 4am. Our family bedroom reverberated with disco music and screaming outside our window from midnight until 4am.2. Reception rarely manned. Always had to go searching for somebody to speak to. 3. Refused any refund for the night we stayed, despite no sleep and only offered 50% refund for the second night we booked but didn't take as we couldn't bear the thought of another sleepless night. THE FAMILY ROOM WE WERE ALLOCATED IS NOT FIT TO BE LET ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS DUE TO ITS POSITION DIRECTLY ABOVE THE NIGHTCLUB. 4. Appalling breakfast and service.
Review 28:Staff and Manager were not unpleasant, just not empowered to resolveguest issues.
Review 29:the vibration from the air conditioning unit in the restaurant made walls of my room vibrate, very restless night
Review 30:great hotel, shame about vibration from air conditioning units
Review 31:First room we were put it was very hot without a window to open, although it did have air con but this was rather noisey.
Review 32:After speaking to the staff about our problems in the first room they were extremely helpful and moved us to a bigger, airier room with a window to open for our 2nd and 3rd nights. The breakfasts were really nice every morning and the housekeeper we spoke to was very nice.
Review 33:The location was excellent. Store at the top of the street to purchase food. It was also near the bus station, local historic sites and the park.. The breakfasts were very good, great start to the day. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 34:The rooms could be more cleaner and maybe shampoos soap etc the bed was comfy the staff young although that's not a bad thing but they never stuck around we were left in the bar for about twenty minutes..not good when ur wanting a drink and to be charged for a latte coffee in the morning I think was wrong overall present stay and we would come back my niggles are just from a Ocd bird
Review 35:The night club next to it was a bit loud on Saturday night (we might join the party next time!).
Review 36:They accommodated our needs perfectly allowing us to check in 2h in advance (thank you so much Christy, you were a life saver!) and providing us with 3 single beds even if it was not the type of room available when we booked.
Review 37:No opening window in the room, it was stuffy and we had to run the a.c. day and night. Og, and the view was of a brick wall.
Review 38:The staff were cheerful and helpful.
Review 39:The night club next door.when booked was told there may be some noise this is an under statement. It was very noisy you could here all music and DJ untill 4am did not sleep, this should be mentioned when booked slight noise just is not correct, very disappointed
Review 40:Friendly staff
Review 41:The room smelled stuffy. The price for the room was not worth it. Room was old and needs to be updated. There was spiders and the beds were old and gross.
Review 42:Walking distant to the restaurants, bars and services. The young man who helped my friend and I with getting a taxi and information.
Review 43:Excellent served cooked Breakfast spoilt by terrible Self Serve Coffee Sachets & Teabags and Semi Hot Water out of a Thermos which had to be refilled regularly.
Review 44:Located in the Town Centre near to a Supermarket and the Bus Station.
Review 45:I would not recommend this hotel and certainly not for anyone who isdriving. The hotel has extremely limited parking - 3 (extremely tight)spots for the entire hotel, after that you're on your own to findand pay for parking. When we tried to check-in in the afternoon wecouldn't find anyone and had to wait almost 30 min for someone toshow up at the "manned 24-hrs" reception desk, the same thinghappened when we tried to check out - apparently management has thereceptionist also tending the restaurant in the afternoon...not surewhat the guy was doing the morning we tried to check out (couldn'tfind him in the restaurant). The room itself was sufficient for three20-something adults however the window was broken and couldn't beclosed...which was a really problem considering the hotel is locatednext to a loud nightclub (that plays music until 4am) and there areseveral bars nearby that play loud music starting around 7 or 8pm...andwe had an early morning flight to catch.
Review 46:The room was a good size and the hotel was decently close to the trainstation (easy 15min walk).
Review 47:When in bed we could still hear the music from the nightclub, which went on until 4am. Better sound proofing in the rooms would make the ratings much higher!
Review 48:Location; and styling
Review 49:Very poor parking for disabled long hilly walk from the car park. no lower rooms all upstairs. n o meals after nine but locals could get a meal after this time. Night club next door
Review 50:The chef that was not long there moved from Edinburgh was very helpful went out is way to get us directions to knock hill. Food was excellent
Review 51:The room that we had was very close to the nightclub, which we didn't realise until we were back at our room at 1am. The nightclub closed at 3am, so we didn't get much sleep.
Review 52:The hotel was very central and the staff were all very nice.
Review 53:Air conditioning unit outside room107 noisy - couldn't sleep. Unable to change room as hotel full. No view except for looking at brick wall
Review 54:Staff were lovely.
Review 55:The beds were in need of a new mattress.
Review 56:Pretty part of town, old and quaint. nice room We were heading to the airport and the room was big which gave us lots of room to pack.
Review 57:The bedding was filthy and we had to ask for it to be changed. Staff moved us to another roon.
Review 58:The food was amazing. The staff in the evening were so friendly and hard working.
Review 59:The night club close to the hotel didn't let me sleep and the hotel has a funny smell. The beds need new matches and the window was broken, a really old and at night you cannot find a single soul from the staff.
Review 60:The location it's pretty good, a big Tesco at the end of the street, banks, restaurants and everything you need from 5 minutes walk. A pretty impressive sight at the end of the road and an amazing park. Just 35 min by train from Edinburgh with an amazing view. The shower it's pretty good, but the bathroom needs a make over
Review 61:Got a room with a window that couldn't be opened with an AC that didn't work and made a lot of noise (hot day). However staff immediately offered their last available room with a window that could be opened (disabled adapted) to us! Limited free parking. Disappointing breakfast in a smelly restaurant.
Review 62:Friendly and helpful staff. Location.
Review 63:No window only noisy air conditioning unit, double was really twosingles pushed together with foam layer on top to look like double.Nightclub music very loud. Discount is given due to music but didn'texpect it to be so loud. Breakfast was ok but don't get much incooked breakfast.
Review 64:Dinner was excellent rooms big and clean. Easy to find andcentral to shops.
Review 65:Unfortunately on this visit there was loud music from night club on one of our nights. We were given a change of room for the next night which was lovely and quiet. The hotel does at this time have problems with noise due to the night club. Possibly until this is resolved the hotel could say to its clients about this and could actually make it a package for people who are visiting the night club. e.g. free entrance to the nightclub and a free drink when you get in there. The room in question was a lovely big room for three people. Spacious and airy with a view over roof tops and the county building. Good sized room for three women or whatever to have space for trying on clothes, make up etc. Good mirrors for preening.
Review 66:Location, location, location. Cleanliness, staff, atmosphere.
Review 67:window which would not close. the noise from the night club and hotel next door.a window which closed might help the noise problem. [room 112]
Review 68:the meals. the pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 69:That I didn't stay for two nights
Review 70:Spot on location just off the Main Street, awesome choice for young groups out for a night as you get free entry to nightclub next door too, spot on!
Review 71:Turned up and the twin room I booked was down as a single room apparently booking . Com had messed up. I would ring to make sure next time, great hotel though
Review 72:Hotels was just a few yards from bus station, shops and pubs are all on doorstep. Staff were friendly and on hand. Breakfast was cooked fresh when ordered.
Review 73:Only downside is if you dont like hearing loud music till two from the nightclub. Didnt bother us though.
Review 74:Location of this hotel is excellent. The restaurant is wonderful . Great diverse food choice and reasonable prices. A night club belonging to the hotel is a great plus. Late checkout of 11 was good.
Review 75:My room was 110 and was situated over a night club I could hear all the music in till about 02:30 in the morning. So did not get. Good sleep at all
Review 76:The room was a good size and well equipped
Review 77:Waited 20 minutes for my breakfast order to be taken as they had one person covering reception and waitressing. Then waited another 20 minutes on an omelette. There were only two other people in the restaurant so it wasn't even busy. No apology and the girl practically banged the plate down in front of me. when booking make sure you request not to be put in room 104. Directly above the smoking area for the bar and nightclub and you need to keep the window open as it's stifling hot, therefore noisy and smoke wafts in
Review 78:Breakfast was nice and bed comfortable
Review 79:satin type covers on bed, slip easily. double bed could have been bigger. and access to further pillows
Review 80:staff in restaurant. hairdryer. shower. facilities.
Review 81:Toilet seat needed fixed and sadly you could feel every spring in the mattress
Review 82:Staff were great , room was clean and quite big and hotel in an excellent location
Review 83:Nothing to dislike.
Review 84:Hotel location was great, me & my friends was out for the weekend & was so easy to get to shops & night life. Hotel staff were very friendly & welcome. Scottish breakfast was 10/10 :)
Review 85:Glad we weren't in room at the side of the disco!
Review 86:The staff were very friendly couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast the best we've ever had and the restaurant top class. We arrived with a party of 16, they accomdated us immediately, the food was served altogether and was great.
Review 87:Loved the location. Right in the centre, close to shops, pubs and restaurants. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Rooms were very clean. We actually got the room for a great price. Would def go back for same price.
Review 88:Very old mattress on bed, springs could be felt on top. Staff found topaz pad do much more comfortable after that.
Review 89:Really lovely historical city. Great restaurant and special mention to Sophie(waitress) who was just delightful. Friendly, helpful staff, lovely room.
Review 90:I always prefer a bed with a headboard or bigger pillows
Review 91:close to bus station to get to edinburgh, close to dunfermlines historic centre and Glen good restaurant attached
Review 92:I stayed a few years ago and was very happy. This time I stayed with my dad and sister Wednesday to Friday so wasn't nosy was brilliant loved the breakfast and the staff were amazing deffo planning a third visit in the summer
Review 93:We stayed Saturday the 21st March 2015 we stayed in room 110 and were kept awake until 3am because of the noise from the night club next door we went down to reception at 1.30am and asked to be moved rooms to be told they had no rooms available and were handed ear plugs. The following morning there was no one on reception to voice our concerns to.
Review 94:Breakfast arrangements seemed a bit chaotic. Perhaps because of staff shortage the poor girl was running between front office and restaurant.
Review 95:Comfortable bed. Choice of bath or shower. Temp neither too cold or too hot.
Review 96:Only negative for us was the sprung mattress, used to memory foam so was a tad uncomfortable
Review 97:Loved everything about the hotel. We couldn't have asked for more for what we needed.
Review 98:The Staff were excellent. I was unwell during my stay and was touched by the level of care shown by the staff - So helpful, and so appreciated. Thank you so much.
Review 99:Loved the rooms, jacuzzi bath was a surprise bonus, food was excellent , staff were very friendly . Location was excellent for shops ,theatre and socilising
Review 100:The restarant and bar next door was closed for refurbishment
Review 101:Nice and clean Lovely decor Friendly helpful staff Nightclub next door & free entry for guests
Review 102:Increase of prices by 30% over the last 4 months, somtimes dirty cups in the room and lots of half dirty dishes at breakfast, some rooms have such noise outside that you cannot open the window, some beds are far less comfortable than others, water for shower can be pretty cold in the morning. It is the luck of the draw.
Review 103:The location is very good, especially when you travel without a car
Review 104:There was an industrial extractor fan right outside the window that was extremely loud and meant we couldn't sleep a wink.
Review 105:The room itself was perfectly nice and clean and the hotel was located right beside the wedding venue we were visiting for.
Review 106:Blocked hand sink, reported to staff no feedback Empty soft drink bottles under bed/behind unit Bedroom adjacent to outside air con unit very noisey No proper coffee with breakfast
Review 107:Staff nice and friendly and no problem requesting additional drinks for room
Review 108:Unfortunately we were only offered a continental breakfast on the Monday morning. Some dishes weren't very clean so had to tell a member of staff.I don't think she was too happy to replace them.
Review 109:The fact that it was handy for our night at a concert was a plus. Rooms were very nice and clean and comfortable. Also was nice and quiet. Probably because it was a Sunday night.
Review 110:Bed was a bit uncomfortable as the memory foam mattress topper was too small and there was a large space at the top of the bed that dipped down and was slightly uncomfortable on your neck The nightclub next door was extremely loud but it didn't affect our sleep too much. But it should be stated when booking. We would stay again though, good for the price we paid.
Review 111:The room (111) was massive, very nice and clean. The jacuzzi bath was a nice surprise and so relaxing. No problems with the room at all except the memory foam mattress topper. The staff were lovely, and the breakfast was great.
Review 112:Staff charged £50 unauthorised for smoking when we can guarantee we did not smoke in the room, accusing myself and my partner of lying. Don't stay here. They give you a good price on the room then charge an extra £50 which makes it not such a good deal!! The hotel is unclean and they have admitted this the fact it must of been smoky before we arrived and just needed someone to blame.
Review 113:Breakfast
Review 114:Parking was ok, damaged the alloys on the poor road, but that wasn't the hotels fault. Breakfast!!! We stayed Monday and Tuesday and knew there was no cooked breakfast on Mondays, so were really looking forward to Tuesday. Er, where were the well reviewed cooked offerings? None existent! No staff in the kitchen, no one to explain the lack of food. Ended up going out and paying elsewhere. Not impressed with that at all. Trip advisor reviews state that the made to order cooked breakfast is very good. Would be nice to be able to review it!
Review 115:The rooms were fine, no problem there, location was fine too.
Review 116:Bed was very uncomfy, two single beds pushed together so the bed kept splitting in the middle that we had to keep getting up and pushing them together. Tv was tiny, could not see it when we were lying in bed. Breakfast was horrible, dirty mugs, didnt know what ones were clean and what ones people before us had just left. Didn't get the hot food menu until we had been sitting for about 10 minutes
Review 117:Rood was clean and spacious
Review 118:Would prefer a shower screen rather than a curtain. View wasn't great but for one night not complaining and not much you can do about it
Review 119:Restaurant was lovely
Review 120:The breakfast was a very average scottish breakfast with a very limited selection of fruit/cerial etc. Worst of all the coffee was instant. To cap it all we were in a hurry and it took 20 mins to get our hot food infront of us. The room was a bit grubby, with the bathroom in need of a good clean. All night there was a background noise of an aircon motor (or other machinery) outside the room.
Review 121:Centrally located in the city, a short walk to the shpops/attractions.
Review 122:Parking limited to three private spaces. But im nitpicking plently of public spaces.
Review 123:Very nice staff. Lovely clean , friendly staff and lovely breakfast.
Review 124:Bed very squeaky and springs on mattresses are not great Due to outside loud extractor fan, we were allocated another room Next door to a club which could be loud if stopping at the weekends
Review 125:Very helpful staff Excellent Breakfast Nice restaurant Good choice of food Clean rooms Ideal location to town
Review 126:I am a solo traveller and this hotel is first class. No single supplement, which for me is a big plus. I was travelling very early but still had a light breakfast. I have used the hotel before and would stay again.
Review 127:The only downside was the paper thin walls, you could hear everything that was happening in the next room. We had a quiet room but a friend had a room next to the nightclub which was noisy in the early hours, but the hotel do state this when booking.
Review 128:The staff at the hotel were excellent and nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast on the Sunday was great, just what you needed to soak up the nigh befores alcohol. Excellent location also right in the centre of the town. Room was good with twin beds and a large bathroom with bath and shower over.
Review 129:We stay here when in dumferline, we always enjoy our stay, and is good value. All staff very friendly and can have a chat and a laugh, which is rare these days. The food is good. Mr + mrs Harkness .
Review 130:The view from the window was a brick wall. The continental breakfast would have been better with fresh coffee instead of instant but would have preferred a cooked breakfast.
Review 131:The king size room was very comfortable and clean. Enjoyed my meal at the Italian restaurant inside the hotel and good value.
Review 132:Nightclub noise but I guess that goes with location and it was not to loud
Review 133:Overall cleanliness. Excellent location. Room was a good size. Breakfast was a bonus. One of our more enjoyable stays on the trip.
Review 134:Windows do not open so you get no fresh air and the "air conditioning" (a plug-in air cooler) is very noisy There are air fresheners in the room -one on the windowsill and one in each wardrobe - terrible for asthmatics - we had to put them in a drawer so they did not pollute the room (we did inform the staff of this) Dirty crockery and cutlery at breakfast, but these were changed on request You cannot reach the soap dispenser when having a bath as it is too high up the wall, and it is difficult to turn down the temperature of the shower if you get it too hot There was a bedside light bulb missing which could not be replaced because the maintenance man was on holiday No wi-fi - there was an offer of cables for dial-up connection, but this is no good for phones Smell of cigarette smoke whenever we crossed the far staircase to get to our room
Review 135:Central location Helpful, polite staff Good value for money Comfortable, spacious room Good selection of TV channels Plenty of storage space and a bag stand to aid unpacking Efficient check-out - our receipt had already been printed out and it took seconds rather than the expected minutes We would happily return in the future
Review 136:Hmmm, my travelling companion maybe! Really cant think of anything I disliked.
Review 137:Location ideal. Room Standard all we required. The one breakfast I made it up early enough for was excellent. Also enjoyed the one night spent in the nightclub.
