Reviews for The Lodge
Review 1:Absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 2:A very relaxing and friendly place for a break the breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal, which was well cooked with plenty of choice, reasonably priced and served by friendly, but not intrusive staff.
Review 3:Celebrated my birthday with a lovely meal and a very comfortable 2 night stay. The breakfast is amazing, with great variety, not just a fry up or cereal.
Review 4:We did comment that the house red wine was not to our taste.
Review 5:The location was perfect for a short break from where we live in Suffolk. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very comfortable and the food was excellent.
Review 6:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 7:Easy to get to with friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. Excellent room with a comfortable bed and good facilities. We will definitely visit again
Review 8:We ate in the bar which was lovely. perhaps it would be a nice gesture to offer hotel guests a discount on food.
Review 9:This hotel is agreat find, we will use it again. The standard is excellent we could not fault the room and service.
Review 10:Don't like modern bars!!! Food was not of a high enough standard for the prices they were charging .
Review 11:The room was lovely, bed very comfortable. Location was very good.
Review 12:Everything was great apart from a bit of a mix up with my mums room as we thought we had a wheelchair friendly room but a small step prevented wheelchair access but the staff did everything they could to help and once in the room was lovely.
Review 13:All the staff were friendly and very helpful in assisting us with my disabled mother, and they decorated the table for me for my mums 90th birthday to help make it special.
Review 14:Bedroom very nice mattress not so good we had room 7, other than that very pleased with our stay.
Review 15:Good location nice atmosphere in bar generally very good we will visit again
Review 16:The location near to the golf course which was 5 minutes away. The bedroom was spotless and very comfy and the evening meal was the best we have had in a long time.Well done to very attentive staff. The chef deserves a special mention. Well done to everyone.
Review 17:The rooms were gorgeous and very clean, the beds very comfortable and the staff really friendly and helpful. The location was great and it was easy to find, even the weather held out for us! We'd love to go back for a longer visit!
Review 18:The hotel was really smart, every detail taken care of. The staff were so accommodating with our dog. They arranged that we could have our meals in the bar with our dog.
Review 19:Staff were very helpful!! And there was a nice atmosphere in the bar and restaurant that made you feel welcome!! Four poster room was excellent!! Would definitely stay again
Review 20:The location was excellent with sea views from our standard room. The breakfast was also very good with fresh local ingredients. Would highly recommend the Lodge.
Review 21:Waiting for food - breakfast, Limited choice for Evening meal so left the Hotel to eat some where else, what we did have was very good.
Review 22:Found the place very relaxing, lovely location ideal for walking.
Review 23:Hoovering outside the room at 8:30 am - for a working couple on a special break that was the pits.
Review 24:Great location for walking to the beach or visiting other north Norfolk attractions.
Review 25:The breakfast is fine, but there's much room for Improvement for dinner-both the starter (chicken wing) and the main (Rositto) are rather bland.
Review 26:Room is spacious (as it is expected to be as a suite), clean, and very comfortable. The site is quiet and peaceful, a bit away from the noisy part of the town. Beach is 5-minutes walking away.
Review 27:Good accommodation, food, and staff and a very pleasant area with plenty of places to visit nearby. Can really recommend the hotel and would like to visit again.
Review 28:Friendly staff, excellent food & beautifully maintained. Everyone ensures you have a lovely stay. Ideal location to explore more of Norfolk or simply walk along the coastline.
Review 29:Nothing at all
Review 30:This is the first time I have stayed here and everything was excellent staff were Brill room was amazing and the breakfast was excellent as well
Review 31:We had a super sized bed but the mattress was very firm and we did not sleep well either of the two nights.
Review 32:We liked the staff, the restaurant and the room. The location was good for touring the North Norfolk Coast.
Review 33:We didn't stay long enough!
Review 34:We were supposed to be in a superior room but needed to be moved to a standard room due to a mix up of availability with booking.com. We were moved to 'the garden shed' - I shouldn't have worried, it was fantastic. The staff were very welcoming and helpful; they obviously like working there. The food was gorgeous and clearly freshly cooked. Very calm and relaxing atmosphere, even when busy at the weekend. Will definitely book again.
Review 35:The staff worked hard but there was very few of them in the evening,so often had to wait to be served, not a big problem.
Review 36:The bed was just right, the room was clean and it was nice to have a large bath. The breakfast was also good with plenty to select.
Review 37:Although a wide menu available for dinner, considered prices high for both quantity and quality of some dishes.Staff seemed to be run off their feet later in the evening so service was not as slick as one would expect
Review 38:Excellent en suite with walk in shower and bath.Good supply hot water. Easy, well styled. sitting area in bar with log fire, nice ambience.
Review 39:Food in restaurant was good but not great just needs bit more attention to detail. Bar area on Both Friday and Saturday night was very busy and noisy especially Friday as there was live music - not to our taste !!
Review 40:Location, overall appearance of hotel, lovely room in the courtyard. Courtyard needs sprucing up though.
Review 41:We stayed on a weekend where a tribute band were playing one of the nights. The bar was very busy, with a long wait to get any drinks. From our room there was a great deal of noise to be heard outside. Unfortunately, one of the patrons decided to use the car park as a toilet rather than those provided! Our second evening was lovely, with the ambiance we felt The Lodge was aiming for.
Review 42:Great food and facilities. Staff friendly and helpful. We stayed in a four poster room which was spacious and very comfortable.
Review 43:We had to send food back to the kitchen 3 times, the same dish which keptcoming back inedible.the manager(james) dealt with it with upmostrespect and could'nt apologise enough.james and his staff team wereall highly accommodating, however, the chef didnt seem to want to listento the fact that his cooking was unacceptable.we thought that the pricefor bed and breakfast was really expensive also, however it was easterweekend and we had left it to the last minute.
Review 44:The staff were highly respectful and very professional. The location wasbeautiful.
Review 45:The hotel itself is gorgeous and the food (whether dinner, lunch or breakfast) was beautiful, served by charming staff. They are very family friendly and respond to your needs immediately. Perfect!
Review 46:We stayed in 'The Loft' - a large, long room in the loft (obviously!) divided by a chimney breast into sitting and sleeping areas. This layout was perfect. The bed was very large though a little on the firm side. Excellent Wifi. Restaurant and breakfast food was very good- not gourmet but well cooked and plentiful. Hotel well placed for exploring coast by car, or nearby coast 5 mins walk away.
Review 47:Despite the main road location and our room facing the road, it was surprisingly quite with little traffic noise. Very comfortable room with lots of drawer space. The staff were particularly helpful and full of fun.
Review 48:Blocking off the bar area where we were sitting having our meal which turned out to be disappointing as the food wasn't as good as expected
Review 49:The room was very comfortable The recent refurbishment looked good however the T V was behind the bar and there was football on so lots of people blocking off that area
Review 50:For us the matteress was too hard & the aroma of the food could be smelt as you climbed the staircase which was fine except for the smell of cooking fat. We couldn't smell this in our room so not a big issue.
Review 51:Excellent service the staff were very polite & helpful. We enjoyed a very relaxing two night stay sampling very good food within a lovely setting. Lovely ambient feel. We stayed in the loft which had a view of the sea, this was really nice room with its own sitting area. Very spacious beautifully maintained, the bathroom nicely laid out with a deep bath & powerful separate shower. The beach is a short walk away & if feeling energetic a lovely walk along the coastline is possible. Fully recommend staying at the lodge.
Review 52:Matress on our and the kids beds was a bit 'springey' / soft for our liking but still got a good nights sleep.
Review 53:Absolutely everything. Great in just about every department, from friendliness, food, accommodation and great location.
Review 54:Parking can be challenging, but this is only because of the popularity of the venue.
Review 55:Very clean facilities, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast. Dined in the restaurant both nights meals excellent, good choice and service faultless. Will definitely be returning.
Review 56:The staff were very friendly and helpful and both the restaurant and bar area were great. Food excellent and room generally very good, although bed was a bit small and I'm only 6ft tall.
Review 57:Did not like the large screen television in the bar. This is distracting to say the least and unnecessary in this establishment. Also, I feel that the cost of staying at the Lodge fairly expensive for what was on offer.
Review 58:Liked the location - very close to lots of coastal walks and lovely market towns. Large bedroom tastefully furnished and quiet away from the main building.
Review 59:There was a band playing in the bar that was quite loud well into the evening, just check before you stay if that's not your thing.
Review 60:We had an upgraded courtyard room, the staff were really friendly, great breakfast and a very tasty evening meal. Worth a visit!
Review 61:Although meals were nicely presented, at times the service was slow and the desert on one occasion was not hot as required. Not a reflection on all the meals which tasted lovely.
Review 62:On arrival during the evening, a lively atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Yet accommodation was quiet, spacious and comfortable. Also, comfortable rooms to sit in, especially the large settees. Service to the room was excellent.
Review 63:Room was a tad too warm
Review 64:Friendly welcoming staff. Although a lively pub atmosphere the rooms were very quiet for good night's sleep. Gigantic bed
Review 65:Room close to toilets so noisy late at night with people talking on way to them
Review 66:Staff and attitude towards dogs Food was excellent and prompt service Large bed and room proximity to beach
Review 67:In our case two couples stayed for two nights for £260.our friends room had a king sized bed and almost twice the bedroom space we had.Why are the rooms the same price.
Review 68:The whole Lodge setup was pleasant.
Review 69:The bed was uncomfortable to sleep on. The quilt cover on our bed was torn at one side, a big triangular tear directly under the fold where bed is turned down on the left hand side of the bed. Reduction in bill although a bonus did nothing to recompense us for a very poor nights sleep and the uncomfortable feeling someone didn't really care about the hotel residents or the impression left by torn bed linen.
Review 70:Position of hotel in relation t he beach. Staff were lovely, kind, helpful and polite. The food was tasty, well cooked, nicely served and hot at the table. Everything was clean and tidy. Our room "the garden shed" was well thought out and perfect for an overnight stay. Staff were apologetic and made a refund of £24 against our bill of £224 when it was pointed out that bed linen was torn and the bed had been extremely uncomfortable to sleep in.
Review 71:our room was in the attic although it was lovely we couldn't get used to the slopping roof and we did find that a little off putting
Review 72:food breakfast was excellent comfort of room was really good staff were friendly and helpful location was really good on the whole we really enjoyed our stay
Review 73:Price could be cheaper Later checkout would be nice (10:30am was too early for us) We had to park outside the main car park due to the main car park being full.
Review 74:Friendly staff Large rooms (we stayed in the courtyard) Clean Excellent shower and bath for relaxing Food was amazing!
Review 75:Very noisy due to the bar, so we had to have the windows closed which made the room very warm. Expensive for a nights stay.
Review 76:It is a great location and the staff were excellent. Very spacious comfortable room.
Review 77:I would have liked a bath as well as shower.
Review 78:Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was spacious and rainfall shower very welcome after a hot day on the beach. Evening meal was delicious - I am vegetarian and was pleased with the choices offered on the menu. Breakfast was included and it was amazing! Excellent range of cereals, croissants, fresh and stewed fruit, yoghurt and then a choice of cooked food as well. We would definitely stay again. Location in old hunstanton was ideal, short walk to beach and bustop right outside if you prefer not to drive up the coast.
Review 79:Car park very busy at weekend
Review 80:Beautiful place two minutes walk from exceptional beach. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast and good menu available in evening.
Review 81:Our room was very warm!
Review 82:Room was very well maintained, nice bathroom, comfy bed etc! Loved the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant. Great service too.
Review 83:Dinner was a bit hit and miss. All looked nice but felt it fell short on a few things, i.e sauces served in open pots looked as though it had been sitting for a while on the counter and the chips appeared to be reheated.
Review 84:Room was very large, stylish and comfortable (Superior Double Room with Four Poster Bed ) Large and stylish property Good facilities Good Breakfast Nice mix of couples and families Close to the Beach and other locations nearby i.e Sandringham House, Holkam Beach etc
Review 85:Given room on the ground floor near the toilets and had very noisy people from the bar passing by our room late at night.
Review 86:Friendly and helpful staff, good location, excellent food (for dinner and breakfast), good size room, comfortable bed.
Review 87:We have been here four times now and have always had a wonderful stay. The staff are excellent and very helpful, food very good and beautiful rooms
Review 88:Room a little small and too warm.
Review 89:Very Friendly relaxed atmosphere
Review 90:It isn't the cheapest of hotels but is worth the money. Only criticism, if you can call it that, is that there is too much food!!
Review 91:Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfotable room and warm, despite freezing tempersture outside. Great food.

Review 101:Early finishes for dinner and bar Staff young and lacking polish and poise
Review 102:Great breakfast Liked the room, private and intimate courtyard setting

Review 116:The recent refurbishment has greatly enhanced the overall experience. In particular the food choice and quality is excellent.
Review 117:Lunch for the 7 of us was excellent...all the food was tasty and well cooked.
Review 118:that there was nothing in the locality to do.
Review 119:the hotel was fine but in the wrong aria
