Reviews for Marine Hotel
Review 1:Heating goes off to early the room was freezing in no time and compared to our work colleagues room it was very cold .... Not a deal breaker though would stop again
Review 2:Comfortable nights sleep and the food was great
Review 3:The room we stayed in was large and well kept. We enjoyed the light hearted banter with the chef at breakfast. We would highly recommend The Marine Hotel.
Review 4:Had an informal bar meal on 2nd night after lovely 3 course dinner in restaurant on first. No desserts served in bar!
Review 5:Lovely room with seating area. Big bath and big bed!
Review 6:Excellent rooms, just need a little TLC to get them back to their original state.
Review 7:Friendly staff good location with stunning views (at least until the OAP flats are completed)
Review 8:Friendly, cosy, laid back Little hotel. Great staff and friendly clientele in bar. Very comfortable king size bed in large room with a sofa and lovely bathroom with separate shower and bath. Tea and coffee and nice toiletries. Outstanding value. Oh and a partial sea view. Far better value than hotels in surrounding villages and perfectly situated for birding....Between Snettisham to south and Holme, Titchwell. Holkham etc in other direction. Will definitely return
Review 9:I wouldn't say a bad experience but when we arrived I entered the hotel bit knocked on the door which would have been an office which a lady very firmly said we needed to go downstairs to book in. I did find her very rude and not welcoming. Other than that the other staff were lovely.
Review 10:Lovely clean and tidy place x located just nice from the beach xx parking was great will be back in the future x
Review 11:The one and only thing that I was not particularly hapy about was that there were no stairs and having problems with my knees I found being at the top of the hotel it was a long way up the stairs
Review 12:The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Would go again
Review 13:Sea view, large room, value for money(2 nights for 1 deal), food good in ground floor restaurant. We had no trouble parking in the hotels car park at front, being November, but it may be too small in high season?
Review 14:Grumpy chef. I asked for 2 side salads instead of chips and 1 side salad with my meal. I got a filthy look from the chef and only 1 side salad, despite paying full price.
Review 15:Dogs welcome! We got 2 nights for the price of 1 - awesome!
Review 16:Unfortunately our room was covered in dust not a biggy but didn't look great, and when we went down for breakfast it was closed as chef hadn't turned up, perhaps to do with the clocks going back , and with it being Sunday no where was open, eventually when the chef did turn up the brekkie the as perfect
Review 17:Loved the location and staff were great and friendly, the food is amazing and good value!
Review 18:Bar tender possibly the manager was a ok just lost his smile The shower didn't drain away quick could do with unblocking no TV in the bar for the RWC
Review 19:The food was good the bed was comfortable location was ideal
Review 20:Breakfast was cold by the time I got it. The bathroom had recently been done and although it was lovely, there was plaster on the floor
Review 21:I loved that pets were able to stay at the hotel and how close it was to everything. And the staff were welcoming and friendly. Condements in the bathroom was a lovely touch. also very lovely shower
Review 22:I suffer with a back problem and found the bed hard. My wife love the bed. I also have to bring my own pillow.
Review 23:Quite at night. Lovley suuny room Good for a dog Very friendly
Review 24:On arrival there were no staff visible to man reception nor immediatel help with portage up the stairs,
Review 25:Location and variety of eating places nearby; staff especially helpful.
Review 26:Lamp with bear wires showing, no information on website to say major building work straight across the road very noise from 8am in the morning, and told after they had took our money that it was a bad time to stay. Would have helped if this as I have already said if this was on the website when booking. Two dirty glasses in bathroom smothered in tooth paste, dirty used mugs from previous people who had styed. took these down stairs and was made to feel that I had no right to bring this to their attention. woke one morning to electric switched off for work to be done in the next room, no-one informed us of this. Total lack of customer service and we were made to feel bad that the building work was going on. Pair of slippers left from previous people did anyone clean this room before we arrived at two!!! V
Review 27:Location
Review 28:Not only was there a pile driver opposite the hotel operating from 8am until 5 pm but we were woken up at 5am on the first morning with loud constant banging. The hotel never mentioned or apologised for having carpet fitters in at this hour.
Review 29:The location was perfect right in the centre.
Review 30:Wifi would have been good as my Internet signal in Hunstanton was awful. If it was available I didn't see it advertised. Other than that no negatives.
Review 31:Great service, lovely friendly staff. Fab room too, clean and sizeable.
Review 32:very hard to find anythin to dislike don't like sauces in sachets
Review 33:staff were friendly and effecient food was excellent and room was clean and tidy
Review 34:I chose the hotel primarily for its location. I was taking my elderly and disabled parents away for a short break. From the beginning, we were made to feel very welcome and valued throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and all our needs were fully taken into consideration.
Review 35:Lack of proper handles on some drawers, lack of handrail from breakfast room to first landing.
Review 36:Food was very good, rooms were brilliant, very comfortable and we would definately stay again. Staff were helpful.
Review 37:I didn't like the fact I couldn't get a free wifi connection. I couldn't have the choice of scrambled eggs for my breakfast.
Review 38:The room was warm and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious.
Review 39:We decided to have breakfast at the hotel. I had tea, and this came in a mug with a tea bag in it and packet milk. I asked for fresh milk which was provided, but understand it is not always available. Breakfast is served in the pub so it rather a dark dingy place to start the day. The cooked breakfast was average, nice mushroom, horrible sausages. Wished we had gone out for breakfast. Bedroom was perfectly adequate but expect it would be very hot in mid summer.
Review 40:Staff were friendly and efficient. Putting my ice block in the freezer was no problem. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom good.
Review 41:Wi fi did not appear to reach room 9! Also this must be the only room without a view!
Review 42:The other couple in our party however had a great room and next time we visit will request this.
Review 43:The steak we ordered medium was quite rare but we didn't complain as everything else was excellent.
Review 44:We liked being able to bring our dog. Our room was excellent. The staff were very helpful. I thoroughly recommend it.
Review 45:No wifi in room - but this is being sorted and the wiring is already in.Too many dogs but it is great for dog owners. Don't stay if youdon't like dogs though. Bar outside so could be dodgy in the heightof summer but noise stopped at 11 when we were there
Review 46:Manager is excellent and will sort out any problems if he possibly can, likewise one of the bar staff was very helpful. Location is excellentfor old and new hunstanton good value overall
Review 47:Two single beds put together to make one double (although the beds were very comfortable). Room facilities were minimal, and a desk fan would have been helpful it was very noisy having the windows open at night
Review 48:Staff were friendly and the food was excellent
Review 49:No clear hotel signage - drove past twice searchig for it. Breakfast extra and till did not allow for individual items - only full breakfasts restricting choice. Coffee charged per cup! Power went out twice - circuit breakers re-set. Fault due to old wiring between the two buildings? Limited parking.
Review 50:Staff very helpful despite issues.
Review 51:Room could gave been larger, sea view was behind some building work but it's not the hotel's fault
Review 52:Nice room, comfy bed, close to beach, fantastic food at the Steak and Stilton restaurant downstairs
Review 53:The carpet but that is being exceptionally critical!
Review 54:Large room with nice view and open windows especially on a hot night. Bathroom was huge with a lovely bath in addition to a very good shower. The staff were very welcoming and smiled which really makes a difference.
Review 55:Our room was adjacent to the main through road and there was major building work going on across the road. While the construction was hardly the Hotels fault and it didn't affect our stay, it should have been brought to our attention when booking.
Review 56:We were seen and shown our room quickly and cheerfully during a pretty busy restaurant period. We were treated with friendly courtesy without our privacy being invaded. It fully met our needs and provided a perfect start to our visit to the area.
Review 57:Did not like the fact that dogs was aload in pub where every body was eating but saying that they was all well behaved
Review 58:Excellent value for money stayed in the large room to the front lovely view to the sea plus bathroom was very large over all everything was nice would definitely stay there again
Review 59:Unfortunately there was building work outside! Could have mentioned it - but didn't:(
Review 60:Room requested was given Had a few minor issues with tap in shower, but they attended to it and discounted both room and breakfast - good follow through by Andy the Manager saved the day:) Well done.
Review 61:We were on the top floor with no lift available.
Review 62:Good clean rooms with good facilities. A good quality, fresh-cooked breakfast was available at a very reasonable price.
Review 63:The towels provided were a little on the small side. Bed was a little too firm for me.
Review 64:A lovely two days away. Parking outside the hoteland situated in the middle of hunny. Staff were lovely, we had a sea view. Will definitely be goung back again.
Review 65:Just one minor thing the wifi didn't quite reach upto the room
Review 66:The location was excellent everything is within walking distance and this hotel is extremely dog friendly
Review 67:Wifi is poor in the rooms. We've had various rooms on various floors and its poor on first and non existent on the second. Apart from that... Brilliant
Review 68:Love Hunstanton. Lovely area and lovely staff! Breakfast is very nice too
Review 69:Paying for breakfast apart from that nothing it's fab
Review 70:This hotel was fab they are so nice here it's so dog friendly my dog got breakfast every morning the staff where so nice and they made us so welcome it's so near the shops and beach I am coming again soon
Review 71:Access steps to bar where breakfast was served were narrow, steep and not suitable for anyone with a health problem.
Review 72:Very comfortable bed, large power shower, sea view
Review 73:Pub shut at 11 but staff were really helpful and great Irish pub nearly to get a later drink
Review 74:The room was more like a suite very comfortable and spotless Excellent food available all day in the pub Excellent location and friendly staff Will definitely stay again
Review 75:The fact that although I am a lone traveller I am paying the same price as two people would have to pay as single rooms are not avalable.
Review 76:Convenience for the town and seafront/beach is incomparable, and the fact that my dog is made very welcome but without extra cost.
Review 77:Poor fitted double glazing alouded noise and draft noise from room above late in the night and this is low season having booked bed and breakfast went down for breakfast and asking where we were told anywhere after a while I went back and said we were staying there and what choice of breakfast there was to then be informed "you don't get breakfast with the room and that breakfast was extra"not a happy bunny
Review 78:Room was good and en - suit good cleaner was good
Review 79:Large room with sea view , sunset was amazing . Staff helpful and polite, nice big breakfast if you want it. Pets allowed in the rooms and bar , plenty of tea and coffee - we needed it as it was blowing a gale while we were there.
Review 80:entering the premises at night (approx midnight) the thick air and smell of cigarette smoke in the lobby and up the stairs which is not right.
Review 81:food and position of hotel
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:The situation of the hotel. The meal on New Years Eve was excellent. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and the bar menu was great. Very friendly staff and very dog friendly.
Review 84:Nothing!
Review 85:Location great, minute's walk from amenities and town centre. Bedroom and bathroom facilities excellent. Hotel bar was good and always good atmosphere. Fantastic menu and good value for money.
Review 86:A lovely place to stay the staff were very friendly decorated well for Christmas made it feel very homely Rooms had all we needed for our stay, thank you very much we will come again.
Review 87:Stairs to the bar first part with no rail as my wife has knee replacements the stairs being steep this made it difficult for her. Only one other thing we couldn't find the price of tea or coffee anywhere on the menus .
Review 88:We found the room and bathroom a good size and staff very helpful ,would stay again.
Review 89:We were greeted by Alex, the Manager, he was so polite and helpful and an asset to the hotel. The young lady we saw was also very helpful and friendly.
Review 90:Minor quibble, room and en suite are well appointed but not the biggest.
Review 91:Friendly staff, great location, good view from the room, great value for money.
Review 92:Quality of the room, bathroom was excellent. Bed very comfy. Light and clean room. Hotel located in middle of town. Free parking outside. Good WiFi Bar food was really good and value for money, no lengthy waiting time for service The dog was made to feel really welcome.
Review 93:Television height was set to view from the bed so to sit in a chair and watch it was a little uncomfortable
Review 94:Location of hotel with view of sea from window. Friendly staff
Review 95:I didn't sleep a wink, my room was number 3 above their Steak and Stilton restaurant. But when the restaurant closed the staff forgot to turn the music off. I listened to it from around midnight to 3am. By which time I was getting very annoyed. That in turn doesn't qualify good sleep. I went downstairs to ask them to turn it down, but the restaurant was locked up and lights out. I called the emergency porter number twice no reply? So once again I just tossed and turned until my alarm at 8am. I mentioned this in the morning to the manager. I got an apology. But to be honest that wasn't really good enough. I don't expect to pay for a room and end up feeling worse the next day than when I had arrived. It made a very long tiring day for me the next day. When you book in and no-one is there on reception you have to come out the hotel and walk around the front outside to find someone. Also if you want to visit the bar or have a meal in the basement part of the hotel the same applies. There appeared to be no access through the hotel? Good thing it wasn't raining. Also the WiFi in the rooms is very poor. We couldn't get connected at all.
Review 96:I liked the room. Very spacious, with a large bath and separate shower. Comfy bed. Able to accommodate my dog too.
Review 97:This is about our 7th visit in the last 3 years and we get the same excellent rooms, service and a very enjoyable stay. The pet friendly aspect of the hotel and the fantastic coastline is what we keep going back for. Thanks.
Review 98:The price of the breakfast is a misnomer at £3.95 because by the time you add to it toast, coffee etc it will be approx.£7.90.
Review 99:The friendliness of the staff The quality of the food The bacon butties were excellent however.
Review 100:Room a bit stuffy which could be a problem in summer months.
Review 101:Restaurant and location. Good parking. Dog friendly which is very important (although they are not allowed in the restaurant).
Review 102:The reception we received in morning for breakfast!! Staff on duty for breakfast obviously wasn't a morning person.
Review 103:Ròom was spotlessly clean, Fish and chips in the bar in evening was superb!!
Review 104:The furniture in the room generally could do with an update, some of the drawers were broken. Don't order the cooked breakfast, it had been cooked with so much oil, it was swimming in it.
Review 105:The room was spacious, and had an excellent view, and was very clean.
Review 106:Bathroom is very small but functional.
Review 107:Clean room, tidy decor, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great location, close to the beach, shops, restaurants and pubs.
Review 108:Noise from the outside patrons of the bar downstairs. It was a Friday night, so not surprising. WiFi reception poor in rooms, but excellent on stairs.
Review 109:Plenty of space in the room that had sofa and writing desk & chairs, with a well proportioned bathroom that even had a bath. A couple of minutes walk to the waterfront
Review 110:The bar area. We had to go there to check in, which wasnt very welcoming. We had breakfast there one morning, but it was locked when we arrived after 8.00am and we had to find someone to open up.It didnt feel clean and we ate in town after that where there are some really nice eating places
Review 111:The bedrooms were excellent, quiet, clean and great views, also the position of the hotel so near the town
Review 112:The only thing I would change in the hotel is the carpet in the room. Prefer to have wood or bamboo, instead of thick carpet due to allergies. Bathroom floor was lovely tile.
Review 113:Upon arrival we were met by staff member who asked us if we had suitcase for him to carry for us. Very kind! Showed us our room which was large enough for us overlooking sea front. Wonderful clean bathroom, very modern, lovely large shower. Food in lower restaurant was excellent for breakfast.
Review 114:All very good but I think parking at the hotel might be a bit tight when busy. Traffic was good for us but at busy times getting there via the A roads could be a pain.
Review 115:Location, food, dog friendly, staff ok, would go back again.
Review 116:Food. I didn't realise that breakfast wasn't included in the cost. Also the staff were not particularly interested in us.
Review 117:Rooms were spacious & clean and bed most comfortable
Review 118:we were okay walking up the stairs but some might struggle if staying on the top floor. In the breakfast room dogs are allowed and unfortunately there were quite a few when we stayed, not a problem for us but someone in our party does not like dogs,it did not ruin our stay and we did not read all the hotel information before booking
Review 119:hotel is in a good location, staff were friendly and helpful, hotel and room clean and bed really comfortable
Review 120:Hardly saw any staff and who was there left me alone - no check up to see if everything was ok. Not told where to go for breakfast. No kids meals on evening menu. A bit of a strange atmosphere really!
Review 121:Pleasant young man taking breakfast orders - he was the only member of staff who spoke to me.
Review 122:No lift No lounge area to sit and read etc., only the bar where people were eating. We had good weather so it didn't really matter but if it had rained a lot a lounge would have been nice.
Review 123:The meals we had in the bar and restaurant were good. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 124:Breakfast served in bar - which is rather basic. Quality of "the full english" poor though cheap. Could do better on the food. Room faced the sea - and was noisy throughout the day and evening. Not a place to stay for a quiet break.
Review 125:Friendly welcome, and comfortable though not large room. Not an expensive hotel and value for money. Located right in the centre of Hunstanton.
Review 126:The smell of the cooking drifted up into the corridors. Room was very hot. Could do with a fan in the room.
Review 127:Central location to town and beach. Bar served good quality food at very reasonable prices. Very comfortable and clean beds.
Review 128:I am not sure this is a negative but it was very close to the theatre and the singing artist who was on stage could be heard until 10.30ish.
Review 129:I liked everything about the hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The bedroom was spacious and clean. The staff gave us good advice about the area.
Review 130:Our room was very noisy. Our room was the first one along the corridor so every time another guest came back we were woken up. Also there was a lot of noise from outside. As we were travelling with a toddler this was not ideal. Also they had no high chairs in the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to those travelling with young children but for a couple it would be fine.
Review 131:I thought the location was good and it was good value for money. The food at the steak and stilton restaurant in the hotel was excellent and all the staff were helpful.
Review 132:The top floor was perhaps a flight too far for us, but the view was well worth it.
Review 133:Delighted that the hotel has been much improved since our last visit but without spoiling the character. Can't wait to come again.
Review 134:Friendly nice big and clean and comfortable room. Our little dog was completely welcome and was even able to sit with us in the bar while we ate our meals.
Review 135:Top floor room, a bit tiring if your in and out all day. There was a smell coming from outside the rear of the hotel that drifted into our room, it was very hot but we had to keep windows closed because of it.
Review 136:Very good location with on site parking. Rooms were comfortable, maybe a tad small. Lots of information available about local attractions.
Review 137:The untidy, empty plot of land opposite the hotel! Bit of an eyesore!
Review 138:Friendly and helpful staff! Hotel well situated with seaview! Food excellent and not overpriced! Gardens and flower planters were a nice touch and well kept! Would recommend!
Review 139:Only thing that caused me concern was a spiders web in the window of the bedroom, I have a phobia of spiders so wouldn't bother most and I know it is something that can't be helped! We run a hotel ourselves and think you are offering a fantastic service.
Review 140:Lovely big room, very comfy bed, bathroom was brilliant! A massive bath with a separate big shower cubicle and plenty of tea & coffee supplies! Young lad that checked us in was very efficient and polite and offered help as I am on crutches because of a spinal condition. Very pleased we picked to stay with you and we will be back to stay again! Many thanks Sally Dennis
