Reviews for The Grange Hotel
Review 1:Could check 2 first floor rooms. Only heavy curtains on windows. At daytime you keep them closed and use lamps // or pull them on side you haven't got any intimacy.
Review 2:Comfy bed, very good heating, location (5-7 mins. walk from bus station and railway station) perfect
Review 3:Situation in a good location, close to pubs and restaurants in town Centre. Welcoming staff, comfortable bed and great value for money when all you need is a place to sleep.
Review 4:No hook or shelves in bathroom. Only 2 coat hangers. No drawers in furniture. 3 pillows in a double room. 3 tea bags & 3 milks (not sufficient) Had to ask for a bath mat. Only 2 towels
Review 5:room not in main building androom window looking out onto main road pathway not enough tea bags on two supplied in room asked at reseption for more but did not get them
Review 6:The Hotel was great Food Good Staff good
Review 7:The hotel was full of homeless people who were sat by the back entrancedrinking cans of beer.we were to scared to leave our suitcases in ourroom so we stayed in with no food
Review 8:The hotel was cheap and value for money
Review 9:Room too basic, seemed to be stripped of everything no phone, hairdryer, bedside cabinets etc, got the impression it was being done up
Review 10:Convenience to the railway station
Review 11:They might consider having someone on hand to assist at breakfast time. Not used to being on the ground floor.
Review 12:The staff are 10/10. Location walking distance to train station. Shops walking distance from Hotel.
Review 13:Dirty remote control for TV.
Review 14:Clean room, helpful reception, free parking at rear, 2 minutes walk to pub serving food, several nice restaurants - near to Gatwick.
Review 15:Bed sheets, pillow cases and bathroom were not clean
Review 16:One of the staff was a very nice lady who was welcoming and really helpful with a nice smile all the time
Review 17:no plug in the bathroom sink for washing- one was provided when asked, however was too small so didn't really do the job. also struggled to get any hot water from the taps, took ages to warm up. In my room i was very concerned as i could not lock my door at all- had to take all my possessions with me when going out to dinner for the evening, and felt quite uneasy about sleeping alone in my room with an unlocked door. The reception staff were friendly and explained that they had cctv and it was a safe hotel, however i still was not really happy about this. Also no cooked breakfast was available even though this was advertised. We did get a complementary continental breakfast though which was satisfactory.
Review 18:basic room but nice, and had most of the basics you need if just staying one night. reception staff were nice.
Review 19:Room was up two floors and no lift but we did get our bags taken up for us. Mattress not too comfortable. Room basic.
Review 20:Near to shops and restaurants and Gatwick airport. Friendly and helpful staff
Review 21:Stayed here overnight with my husband and two children. We had a double room and a twin room. We needed an early check in as we were going to a wedding and wanted to get ready at the hotel. The staff went out of their way to accomadate us. The hotel is perfectly pleasant. A little shabby in areas but overall, and for the price, it was very good. The double room was a bit better than the twin.
Review 22:Wi-fi didn't work in my room , only worked close to the reception desk , quite noisy mainly due to the other guests . TV was small and seemed a bit old .
Review 23:Location was close to train , shops & retaurants .good parking around the side .
Review 24:Long walk up two flights of stairs. Unimpressive sparse room with curtains that didn't draw properly beds that were lumpy and television which would have better in box room. The worst experience was my wife falling very badly and heavily whilst coming out of the shower(which by the way was so stiff it won't turn off) the floor tiles were definitely not supposed to be in a shower room and my wife fell even though she used the mat supplied. I informed the guy on the desk what had happened and he was completely disinterested and tried to talk to me about the weather. I have reported this incident.
Review 25:Nothing really.
Review 26:Room wasn't available when we arrived, when we did eventually get itthere were no towels, or even toilet roll. The bathroom door keptlocking itself. The bathroom itself could have had the décor finished, there was no plug for the sink or shower cubicle, just huge holes. Norestaurant. No bar, didn't replace tea / coffee in the room, didn't even provide loo roll. Bed was awful, no extra blankets, pillow was non existent.... I could carry on, but bottom line. Wouldnever recommend or return. Just awful
Review 27:Not much
Review 28:Noise during the night, I may be wrong but this place looked like somewhere where homeless people may be given rooms to stay judging by some of the clientel that were hanging around
Review 29:Wifi not working, no restaurant/bar, scabby breakfast, open fire doors/exits, staff smoking.
Review 30:Travelogue style hotel, very, very basic. Good parking.
Review 31:Did not appreciate having to make the beds when returning in the evening. Breakfast was rather meagre - no brown bread or decaff tea. Limited choice of fruit juice eg orange only which my wife cannot drink.
Review 32:Welcome at reception desk very friendly and helpful throughout.
Review 33:I didn't have breakfast but it seemed minimal. Not a big issue though. More than made up for by helpfulness if the staff.
Review 34:Very relaxed and helpful staff. Good location and there was parking. Rooms fine.
Review 35:Unshaven receptionist ,scruffy appearance. No staff around to helpbreakfast ,fridge with milk and orange juice under table on thefloor. When staff chap arrived no hello only intrested in watching thefootball on tv.Only cereal available no cakes etc.THINK Dhs was stayingin there.wont be going back
Review 36:The price
Review 37:On entering the dining room, for breakfast, there was no sign of any staff until we had helped ourselves, and finished eating. The tables hadn't been cleared, and the food was sparse.
Review 38:Modern,clean and good value for money.Free parking.Friendly receptionist.
Review 39:We had to sleep in twin rooms the first night as our room was not ready. beds were very uncomfortable and the showers were a joke. Couldn't find the location
Review 40:Other guests mainly single men. Had a YMCA hostel feel. As a single mother travelling with a toddler felt unsafe in this environment due to other clientelle. Didn't safe as there was a drunken couple having a row most of the night. Seemed as if there were quite a few people living there as a B and B.
Review 41:Friendly staff
Review 42:Room needs a lot of attention.Wasn't informed that families live there in a permanent situation seemingly low cost/social housing.Window had to be closed and curtains drawn full time leaving room dark and stuffy.Lots of noise that woke me at 5a.m.Police at desk next morning(not by me).No real bar facility.
Review 43:The guy at the desk was fantastic. He made the stay a lot better, very helpful. The Grange is in a perfect location for exploring Crawley and everything is within a short walking distance.Price was fair but a room on the ground floor should be much less for reasons stated.
Review 44:Nothing really
Review 45:Good parking decent sized room and facilities . The "complimentary breakfast " was a Real bonus and consisted of more than we expected.we stayed for the one night after a flight to Gatwick but we would imagine it could be handy being close to a station and pub for a longer visit to the area
Review 46:This place was grubby, shower was coming off the wall, stains on the carpet, toilet seat loose, no plug in sink, nowhere to hang a robe or towel. Wifi hit and miss. Was moved to another room which was marginally better but still left 2 days early to find somewhere better.
Review 47:The bed was very uncomfortable and the tv was to small.maybe a larger shower would be nice..
Review 48:The location was good, and nice large room.Pleasant staff.nice looking building from the front.
Review 49:The rooms are very dirty, we had no toilet accessories at all (even no soap), just 1 towel for each person. There were no blankets, no duvets at all (and we stayed in January!). As we asked the staff for blankets, they found just 1 blanket (in a very poor state of cleanness), whereas we had a twin room. The teakettle was in an awful state, with such a dirt inside that we did not dare using it!
Review 50:The location is very good, close to the railway station and the airport Gatwick. The price is good.
Review 51:Was not advised when booking that the hotel did not have any kitchen or bar facilities available as both areas were undergoing a refurbishment
Review 52:Staff very friendly and room clean and of a good size
Review 53:The Grange is an excellent value at an ideal location in the quaint town of Crowley. Guesthouse is a short walk from the super cute historic downtown Crowley featuring several pubs hundreds of years old. The shopping was fantastic! Loved the charity shops. Our hotel room had a remodeled bathroom, nice tea pot and was roomy. The Hotel lounge was nicely appointed. My room window opened, which I awlays appreciate.
Review 54:A shame the kitchen was down for refurbishment (I know it has to be done some time) & I couldn't see any notification on the hotels web site. The staff were very apologetic about this.
Review 55:Ease of booking & friendly service.
Review 56:The location of the hotel was only a few minutes walk to the shopping area and 10 minutes drive to the airport. The staff was great and always helpful.
Review 57:No wifi reception in my room Shower took a while to get hot, but I am guessing lots of people at same time. Waited 15 minutes and tried again and it was fine.
Review 58:Price, Location, Complimentary tea/coffee, helpful staff. Basic hotel, but clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Review 59:Hotel was still being refurbished and had no breakfast facility as advertised. The room had not been finished off and was missing various items.
Review 60:The location was good.
Review 61:Arrived at 1am from a long drive from Birmingham and the reception guy was so rude to us, demanding payment for the room without explaining the situation and then pointed us into the direction where the room was and the signs were crazy. Our room had no number last door on the left he said totally put us off and ruined our stay. It was a pit stop to fly out in the morning however we did not like his attitude at all. Totally disgusting.
Review 62:Location
Review 63:the lock broke, took me an hour to check in and find a different room, there was no kettle, this came 2 hours later and the TV broke, this came 3 hours later. Terrible stay in a twin bedroom when a double was ordered. Screaming and shouting at 2am from leary guests no apologies made.
Review 64:when things broke, staff did fix... eventually
Review 65:Wifi only available in the lobby Shower weak and tepid No plug in bathroom basin Bed springs felt all night Noisy at night
Review 66:Within walking distance of town
Review 67:hot water needed a few minutes to arrive in the morning. Some noise from outside but not too much of a disturbance
Review 68:Easy to find near the center of Crawley (good shopping) efficient and pleasant staff. Rooms clean bathrooms clean, WiFi and Parking free, a really good price for a nice overnight stay.
Review 69:Only toast and cereal for breakfast due to refurbishment of dining room, but once this is back on it will be great.
Review 70:I usually stay 4-5* so was surprised how nice this hotel was, it was quiet, clean and comfortable with friendly helpful staff, I would stay there again.
Review 71:breakfast room- only cereal, toast & coffee available however, refurbishment taking place so this was understandable & plenty of cafes within walking distance - refurbished rooms excellent - other rooms not everything working but assume these will be refurbished.
Review 72:price - easy walking distance to town-trains-buses - very clean - parking - staff very helpful - easy driving route to get to.
Review 73:We have stayed at the Grange for a number of years, this year in particular the Hotel looked much fresher and the room we had was very comfortable. The staff were particularly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We will be staying again in December and look forward to our stay.
Review 74:Full English breakfast not available. Discovering the Arora hotel was same price! Ground floor room next to car park. Suggest net curtain as don't want to sit in the dark during the day.
Review 75:Welcome from staff Changed my room from twin to double. Reduced price to match walk-in tariff. Walking distance from station Very comfortable bed and pillows.
Review 76:Nice place, very clean and tidy, bed very comfortable, staff very helpful, walking distance to shops and restaurants, great location would definitely use this hotel again.
