Reviews for The Town House Ludlow
Review 1:no reception no restaurant no breakfast available at town house thus the charge was excessive telephone numbers do not provide for the lack of services on site at the town house
Review 2:Nobody to welcome us had to phone a wait a few minutes. Person who came didn't hardly communicate with us. Didn't show us our room. We didn't know it had a mini bar until next morning. The room was cold when we arrived due to no heating on and in the morning the iron blew the trip switch which left us without electricity for a brew. When I told the man at check out he shrug his shoulders and carried on with the payment. Limited choice for breakfast offering Italian food only
Review 3:Beautiful bedroom. Sitting room and bathroom
Review 4:Our stay was all too short, but we will be back.
Review 5:From the moment we checked in through to check out it was a very enjoyable experience. The room we stayed in was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast at the Italian deli a couple of doors away was very nice.
Review 6:The sound from the street in room 8 was rather noisy (but it was the Medieval festival and a Saturday night) and the wifi could do with being a little stronger. Unfortunately we also had a noisy family staying above us who clearly had forgotten that sound travels, especially at 7am on a Sunday morning! Really no major issues though and this did not detract from our stay.
Review 7:Fantastic location and lovely staff. The room was beautiful, cosy and spotlessly clean. We were welcomed like old friends and given plenty of information on the town and what to do - for an impromptu break this was perfect!
Review 8:Signage could be much better. . Had to use telephone to find out where reception was. No restaurant and had to park a 10 minute walk away.
Review 9:Superb accommodation. Clean and comfortable with lots of little 'extra touches'
Review 10:The rooms were located above a shop and we were woken at 6am by a very loud delivery unloading goods for about 30 minutes. The coffee machine was also very strange and made an extremely loud noise which may have disturbed our neighbours.
Review 11:The room was beautiful, absolute luxury. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and the walking distance to the event we went for was less than 2 minutes.
Review 12:Not a 'bad' experience but had been expecting a cooked 'English' breakfast. The service and food was lovely but having a great many food intollerances and allergies (gluten / tomatoes / eggs/ sea food) I found the menu a little limiting. I will ask next time.
Review 13:Right in the Centre of Ludlow! Brill. A lovely sized room. So warm after a day in showery weather. Water scorchio- wonderful deep bath. The Manageress was lovely and friendly- nothing was too much trouble.
Review 14:Total attention to detail. The room has been finished to a high standard with every comfort thought of. Comfortable bed & the best shower in a long time. The room was also really quiet, we never heard any of the other guests. The breakfast is down the road in a fantastic friendly cafe & I would highly recommend.
Review 15:Excellent location in the heart of Ludlow which is a lovely market town with a fantastic castle. The Townhouse is tucked away just yards from the centre but is quite peaceful given its location. The accommodation is high quality with good sized, well furnished rooms. Ludlow has a large selection of very good restaurants being something of a food centre.
Review 16:If I had to say anything it would be that there was a street light right outside the window that was on all night.
Review 17:This has to be the cleanest room I have ever stayed in. Absolutely spotless room & bathroom. Great coffee machine and fully stocked minibar.
Review 18:Ideal location for exploring as it's right in the centre of town, but still quiet enough for a good nights sleep. Fabulous rooms, spacious and very comfortable with great character, as befits the town, and everything that you need. Unusual but interesting (and tasty) breakfast menu, provided off site in a local café close to rooms.
Review 19:Very quiet bedroom very well appointed bathroom with beautiful, large fluffy towels and 3 ply soft toilet paper. Security was excellent and breakfast was supplied by a local café which had a really interesting menu-you haven't lived gastronomically until you have sampled their Turkish eggs with chilli and yoghurt!.
Review 20:Unfortunately the room upstairs was noisy late into the night and early morning - most likely children jumping around and screaming. For the price would have expected some normal soap not just shower gel and there wasn't very much of that. No ordinary English Breakfast tea either but that was maybe an oversight.
Review 21:Unusual layout a bit like a cottage, modern oak beams and doors, excellent view of Ludlow market and castle. Interesting breakfast, included in price, at the Cicchetti Italian cafe. Appreciated early check in before the wedding.
Review 22:Its not easy to find, and parking is not the easiest either, but this didn't detract from our stay.
Review 23:A beautiful room overlooking central Ludlow. Dinner was at the Smokehouse deli just down the road - these were perhaps the best breakfasts we had in the UK.
Review 24:I got into an cycling accident that prevented me from enjoying the fabulous breakfast next morning. But at the same time it was another test to the courtesy and helpfulness of the manager who found people who galantly drove from the hospital to the nearest airport.
Review 25:everything: location, the room and facilities, the management,
Review 26:Thermostat really didn't work at all - when you turn the heating on the room becomes tropical very quickly and it won't turn off! Minor gripe also - we weren't told about the car parking beforehand so paid for the NCP for the weekend.
Review 27:Breakfast was brilliant, room was lovely, nice location.
Review 28:Nothing
Review 29:Absolutely fantastic. Room was luxurious, breakfast a delight and owners very welcoming. Location great overlooking the Butter Cross in the centre of town. Very quiet and peaceful. Will stay and visit again very soon. Best luxury accommodation ever stayed in. Thank you. Julie x
Review 30:The only negative was the room at the front was very noisy as there is no double glazing so we were moved to the side where it was quieter.
Review 31:Excellent location in the town centre, the rooms were wonderful with the best en suite ever. Breakfast was served in a little Italian café a few yards down the road and it was fantastic
Review 32:All good no negatives
Review 33:Everything was top class the breakfast at the restaurant a few doors down was so different and delicious love to stay again thank you for a lovely weekend
Review 34:Everything was perfect - the location, the staff and check-in process, the room was lovely with really smart decor and exceptionally clean. The breakfast (not traditional) was the best I've ever had at a b&b. Will return next year.
Review 35:Better than our expectation, excellent, high standard accommodation. Great breakfast too at local deli which was part of the deal. Shnekna was friendly and helpful. Fab location for the food festival. We would stay here again.
Review 36:Beautiful room and a spacious bathroom . Everything was very clean and the furnishings a very high quality . The mini bar was very well stocked . Had a wonderful stay . Thank you .
Review 37:Well-appointed and comfortable room with plenty of space - excellent en-suite. The breakfast arrangements are superb in a lovely Mediterranean deli/cafe with an excellent selection of healthy and tasty options. There is no easy parking close to the property because it is very central and Ludlow has old narrow streets, however there is an arrangement to use a pub car park about 5 minutes walk away. Note that you should be prepared to hear a lot of church bells (not too loud or intrusive - just persistent in the morning!)
Review 38:A little difficult to find when driving !
Review 39:The room was lovely. Great attention to detail. The owner, Sneshka, was extremely helpful. The breakfast at a nearby cafe was excellent and a full cooked breakfast was included - not just a continental breakfast as stated on line
Review 40:Disappointed with the breakfast arrangements as only a tiny place and gets full quite quickly so had to go away and return to see if tables available . the host could be a little more hospitable and friendly as the young girls waiting are.
Review 41:fantastic place to stay everything about it faultless.
Review 42:Not really a negative, just a preference...maybe some small mugs as well as cups and saucers...lovely glasses though
Review 43:The place was spotless with a centre of town location, perfect for what we wanted.
Review 44:Information on parking would be helpful when booking
Review 45:The location was great, the owner/manager was helpful and courteous. the room was clean, comfortable and well appointed
Review 46:Fab welcome and so helpful explaining the facilities and places to eat etc, beautiful room and perfect location, breakfast was 1 min walk away, amazing place to eat and the owner made our trip, lovely bloke
Review 47:Room was lovely and clean and staff were very freindly and welcoming , breakfasts was fantastic and so different from others or traditional breakfast .highly recommend the town house !!
Review 48:The free WiFi did not appear to be available when we were there, and they forgot to leave milk for the tea one day. Otherwise, it was a very positive experience.
Review 49:The room was very comfortable, clean, and decorated in a lovely, tasteful way. The facility is also located in the center of town and within walking distance of many attractions.
Review 50:There wasn't anything we didn't like
Review 51:The room was spacious and right in the heart of Ludlow. Very private. Plenty of pubs to choose from for real ale and food, all within walking distance. Everything we needed in a room.
Review 52:During a rainstorm we woke up to find water dripping onto our clothes from overhead beams. On reporting it we were very disappointed by the attitude of the manager. No concern as to any damage to clothing
Review 53:Great location. Old world charm merged effortlessly with great facilities. Breakfast in nearby Italian cafe brilliant
Review 54:For some reason we could not connect to WiFi, despite help from staff. It didn't trouble us much but could be an irritation to someone who depends on it.
Review 55:We were impressed by the quality and range of items provided. This even included a sewing kit.
Review 56:Should have been clearer when booking that check-in, breakfast and parking are all off site from the Town House itself.
Review 57:The lovely interiors and comfortable furniture. The breakfast cafe was also really lovely.
Review 58:Wifi was free but rubbish. Had to have long cables on hairdryer, straighteners etc because plug sockets not anywhere near the mirror
Review 59:Great location room is beautiful loved the choices for breakfast
Review 60:These are rooms without hotel facilities but this did not prove to be a problem as the breakfast was excellent nearby, paid in the price, and there was a nice pub next across the street
Review 61:Central location and nice room
Review 62:No comments made...
Review 63:I purchased a stay in the Deluxe Double for my parents as a present for my Dad's 60th birthday. My parents had not visited Ludlow before but thoroughly enjoyed their stay in the Townhouse and their visit to Ludlow, they could not stop talking about the hotel and the place it's self. Overall, thank you for making their stay fantastic!! :)
Review 64:No problems, save perhaps that parking in the town is limited. Reasonable parking was available by the Police station, but did require renewing by 0815.
Review 65:Room quality, location and the hot 'Italian' breakfast experience
Review 66:Staff were really friendly and welcoming. The room was lovely, good value for money and had great facilities. It was well located and the choice between breakfast was great.
Review 67:The side gate was difficult to open after a night out !!
Review 68:Fantastic location, warm friendly staff, lovely big warm cosy room. Enjoyed the cooked breakfast, it was an original menu in a cosy atmospheric and friendly bistro - cafe .
Review 69:Absolutely nothing.
Review 70:The comfort, warmth and cleanliness of the room, didn't want to go out for a meal in the evening we got so settled, had to make a real effort!
Review 71:Shame that parking and breakfast isn't in same place but as long as it isn't raining its no drama as there are a few pubs to pop in when car parked
Review 72:Location was great, receptionist was lovely(snow white) room excellent
Review 73:Absolutely fantastic hotel discreetly tucked away! We had a deluxe room with beautiful four poster bed, gorgeous! The interior of the room was done to a very high standard with nice extra touches ,such as the Nespresso coffee machine!!! The position of the room was brilliant with a lovely comfy sofa placed just in front of the window, which was just perfect for a spot of people watching. We would definitely return here again and would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends. Although a little unusual set up for breakfast having to go to a couple of the local cafes' we actually found that this added to the enjoyment of the overall stay. We had a most amazing breakfast just a short stroll away at Smokehouse Deli and Cicchetti bar, to where we will definitely be returning. Overall we had a brilliant stay at the Town house Hotel.
Review 74:The only thing I was a little disappointed is that they don't open until 3 p.m. In the afternoon and in the website Booking.com don't inform about that. I got there about 1:00 pm and I wanted only to leave my luggage for being able to visit the village in the meantime and it was closed. I went to the Tourist Information Centre and the Lady there was so helpful and she phoned them for me and they asked if they could open for leaving my luggage. I have to say that I phoned them previously many times before but nobody answered.
Review 75:The luxury quality of the premises. The peace and quiet location. Is worth it every penny! I totally Recommend it!
Review 76:Nothing not to like, really. I suppose the parking could be difficult at busy times, and though we parked at the Charlton Arms, it is a 5 minute walk up the hill to the Town House. The reception is through Valentine's Walk currently, in Pepper Lane which means you have to park up for a few minutes in the loading area on Broad Street, but it's not an issue - and soon the reception is likely to move to Valentine's walk premises next to the Town House rooms anyway.
Review 77:We stayed for 2 nights over the new year and had a fabulous time. The staff were friendly and couldn't be more helpful, the breakfast was continental, but plenty to eat in the lovely tea rooms on the corner (easily accessible), the parking was fine - first day behind the Charlton Arms (sister pub/hotel) and the second in the car park by the castle. So comfortable and modern inside despite the quaint exterior, excellent standard of cleanliness. Loved it.
Review 78:Had some trouble initially getting checked in as I arrived early morning and the front desk is not always manned
Review 79:Location in the heart of town Helpful staff Very comfortable and warm room
Review 80:The only middle I had was that the hotel did not have a reception and you had to walk a few blocks to another building to check in a get your key. Would have liked a cooked breakfast but the cafe where breakfast was served was lovely and the cafe owner was charming and very welcoming.
Review 81:Location was excellent right in the heart of ludlow. Newly furnished accommodation was lovely. I had a twin room and the facilities were excellent with free wifi and lovely environment. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the beautiful ludlow.
Review 82:I can not really find anything to fault it with. Parking maybe the only downside, but using the sister pub Charlton Arms is free and just a five minute walk.
Review 83:The room we stayed in was room 6 which had views of the town, very old building but had been refurbished professionally and tastefully. The rooms were very clean and warm. One of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in. The Town House accommodation does not have its own dining area or bar but the café round the corner served us an excellent breakfast
Review 84:The Reception is away from the Hotel and very offputting. All the gates with keys is difficult to deal with when you have been out in the evening and the Breakfast was adequate but very basic.
Review 85:The room was excellent and the bathroom was faultless. Everything was spotlessly clean and the facilities could not have been better. It was so convenient for the centre of Ludlow
Review 86:Basic standard could not be described as de-lux. Continental breakfast only and no other options. Breakfast served in local tea shop. Not event soap dish in bathroom. Generally disappointing.
Review 87:Handy location for town centre
Review 88:Would like the reception a little more convenient.
Review 89:Very comfortable room, perfect location. Excellent continental breakfast, plenty of everything. Would certainly return.
Review 90:Everything about the Town House amazed. We stayed in Room 2 (has it's own entrance) and the quality of the room, the furnishings, the bathrooms amazed us for the price. Lovely staff greeting, smack bang in the centre of Ludlow and yet so quiet and peaceful at night. Will definitely book again. Complimentary tea, coffee, water, bathroom kit and a well stocked mini bar. Ample Continental breakfast included in the lovely café on Valentine's walk.
Review 91:the two drunks upstairs which kept us awake all night thus missing breakfast which we had paid for. also the £2 charge for a small bottle of water, last of all it was continental breakfast !
Review 92:comfortable bed and a super bathroom and also very clean
Review 93:Need to buy parking permits but they only cost £2.00 per day. Would have liked cooked breakfast option.
Review 94:Luxury room with quality furnishings. Wifi was excellent. The location was right in the heart of the town. Lovely breakfast at local cafe
Review 95:Initially confused over the location and checking in process as reception closes at 6! However the lady stayed late to ensure we got into the room.
Review 96:Fabulous big bedroom, beautifully decorated and furnished. Lovely bathroom facilities with separate shower & bath. Well stocked mini bar which is not overpriced, great coffee machine. We will definitely choose to stay here again when in Ludlow.
Review 97:Staff slightly confused over the parking arrangement and prices.
Review 98:The rooms had great charater with rustic and luxurious feel. The bedroom and sofas were a delight and the rooms were nice and warm. It was right in the centre of town in the middle of all the attractions with the entrance tucked away down a small walk that is secured at night. You can get breakfast at The Charlton with this hotel and its a lovely walk too. Staff altogether very polite.
Review 99:lumpy pillow. No personal touch. Nobody to speak to, welcome you, say goodbye to. Picked key up at pub, breakfast in a cafe and paid in another location.
Review 100:location, comfortable mattress, lovely bathroom. Ludlow is a lovely town. I would visit the town again but stay elsewhere.
Review 101:Be very careful if you book this place. My wife and I had a terrible experience, as did three other couples staying here on the same night. The ‘reception’ is only open at certain times and if you fail to turn up during those times you’re left, literally, stranded in Ludlow with no idea of where to go or how to get in. In our case two other guests, one of whom had wasted three hours trying to book in and get their key earlier in the day, saw our predicament and explained that we had to go to a pub (The Charlton Arms) about one-third of a mile away to check-in. We were treated appallingly when we arrived at this pub – tired and angry we were accused of “shouting”, which was nonsense – and having tried to call The Townhouse five times and left two messages, none of which were acted upon, we were accused of not answering our mobile despite being out of signal range for much of the day. It was only when we were able to prove that we’d called the Townhouse reception before they were supposed to have closed, by showing them our mobile phone log, that they accepted they were completely wrong. At that point The Townhouse owner, whom we’d originally been told was “not available” miraculously became available and we were given a significant discount to keep our booking. Breakfast was also a huge disappointment. It’s only after arriving that you discover breakfast is served in a tea shop and not the accommodation itself. We had tinned grapefruit, prunes, very poor quality white bread (the brown was OK) and dried croissants. At least the people here were very friendly and welcoming, which was unique for The Townhouse experience.
Review 102:The experience was so poor that nothing felt good.
Review 103:When we arrived, could not get to our room as nobody was on duty, had left car on a pay and display car park while we found hotel. which is not advertised as Town house after going in different shops to find out where it was, even locals had no idea or heard of it.. The website did not portray, it was only rooms only, no cooked breakfast, and not manned at all times, if you needed to contact Hotel.. needs looking in to..After messing about for over an hour, went back to Charlton Hotel, to see if they could help us Asked to speak to manager, we were greeted by Andy. who was very busy, but was amazing after spending time on phone to find out wat going on, he apologised for upset even though it had nothing to do with them, he gave us a discount and complimentary bottle of Champagne and Breakfast at the Charlton Hotel.. He did not have to do this, but it made our stay welcoming. Please update your website as these are really apartments as you have no bar or reception or lounge to sit in and chill.
Review 104:Arriving at Hotel, was greeted, by the receptionist, who took us to our, room, The room was amazing, large, tastefully decorated, had everything in the room, that was needed, also the flowers and champagne was there waiting for my partner as a surprise.Central to the shopping area.Free parking at The sister Hotel The Charlton, which is a bit of a walk up to the Town House.but not really a problem, if its not raining...or you not have young children. The Manager at Charlton Hotel Andy was brilliant, could not ask for better customer service ..
Review 105:It was really disappointing that the bed settee was very uncomfortable and even seemed to be broken as it was unlevel top right side.
Review 106:Great place, main bed really comfortable. Clean, tidy and well equipped.
Review 107:Location was lovely in the middle of the town. The Charlton was fab for dinner with lovely food & atmosphere. The Town House had beautiful rooms with everything you could want - they were so clean. The only thing I would change is the option of a cooked breakfast rather than just continental. Great place to stay. Really recommended
Review 108:The men were hoping for a cooked breakfast on holiday since they don't have it at home ! (They grudgingly agreed that what they did receive was plenty!) Having to leave the car at the hotel was rather a bother since two of our ladies have trouble walking far, especially uphill. We realised that we could bring the car to the Town House for a short while & then take it back but that meant that the driver couldn't have a drink. Perhaps a complimentary taxi service could be supplied from the hotel for the guests staying in the Town House ?
Review 109:The staff were very helpful ( at the Town house & the hotel), the rooms were excellent - clean, spacious & well equipped , the privacy of the alley where the Town House is situated was reassuring during the night and the breakfast was ample & staff there very friendly & welcoming.
Review 110:Breakfast was disappointing, the cafe does not match the quality of the Town House rooms nore the price charged. Also the Web site did not say it was a continental breakfast. Parking was not as convenient. When staying at the Silver Pear parking permits were provided. Not keen on being charged over £2 for a small bottle of water which is included at most 4 star accommodataon.
Review 111:Delighted to see the return of The Town House which we have stayed at regularly since 2007.The rooms, cleaniness and location are beyond compare.
Review 112:The security alarm going off at 1am!!!!!
Review 113:Loved the room, very spacious and comfortable. Gorgeous bathroom, really enjoyed along soak in the superb bath.
Review 114:Some less good features to be aware of... Several of the rooms do not have a view. There is no parking on site as it is right in the middle of town. You can park for free at the Charlton Arms 'parent' hotel, but that is 5 minutes + walk away. Public parking is closer, but no category for overnight parking on the pay and display. We stuck in £2 - an over payment - and hoped for the best! We think they need to arrange permits. Also, no facilities at the location, continental breakfast is in a sweet little cafe round the corner which was fine. Noisy alarm on adjacent building, but not the Townhouses fault!
Review 115:We stayed for one Saturday night in room 7, which is a suite/family room, with a good sized bedroom and bathroom (bath and separate shower) and a totally separate sitting room. Beautifully decorated and furnished. Light and airy, with a window looking towards the market. Really lovely and definitely worth the extra money. hotel, but that is 5 minutes + walk away. The continental breakfast is in a sweet little cafe round the corner which was fine. No shortage of bars and places to eat, so that's not a problem either. We would definitely stay again.
Review 116:Parking is an issue. Breakfast was continental at a local cafe which we didn't know about when we booked. Very nice breakfast and the cafe was lovely, but this should have been made clear. Was difficult to find access into the building for the rooms.
Review 117:The rooms and location.
Review 118:Breakfast was a bit basic, cereal and toast. It was a shame because everything else was excellent
Review 119:Excellent rooms, very clean and nicely decorated. Works well with a family, adults have their own room and the children had a nice room
Review 120:1. No phone in room2. No access as fob not supplied to open gates. Highly dangerous if a fire 3. Room at least 0.5 mile away from hotel 4. Café where one eats breakfast was CLOSED (OMG)
Review 121:Room clean and warm
Review 122:The only faults were, the bed was a little too firm for our liking, and my Husband was disappointed as he was looking forward looking forward to a cooked breakfast.
Review 123:The young lady who met us and showed us to the room was very pleasant and helpful. The room was probably the cleanest hotel room we have ever been in, tastefully decorated, comfortably and heated, coffee and tea making facilities excellent, and situated within easy walking distance of the town centre. The breakfast was ample for a 'continental breakfast' and the Cafe owners very friendly and helpful. Free Parking at The Charlton was a bonus despite the invigourating walk.
Review 124:Breakfast was poor and rather unsubstantial. Would have booked elsewhere if website has stated continental breakfast
Review 125:Location and room were fantastic, nothing to complain about.
Review 126:My only issue was the breakfast which was in a local tearoom just around the corner. Poor quality ''continental breakfast'' which was toast, crumpet or toasted teacake!!
Review 127:Very clean and nice spacious room with a lovely large bathroom too
Review 128:In comparison to other hotels and the facilities that you get this was quite dear but you do get the central location as mentioned. Parking in Ludlow is also an issue, not for the hotel but for the town in general.
Review 129:Very central location close to the castle, market, shops, bars and restaurants. Rooms were very clean and well decorated throughout. The staff were really friendly and attentive.
Review 130:It's quite expensive but is a large room and ideally located The decor is fine and brand new but a little bland
Review 131:Location Bed Bathroom Ease of use Facilities
Review 132:Every thing except couldn't park any where.
Review 133:Beautiful furnished room
