Reviews for Milsoms Kesgrave Hall

Review 1:Would be perfect if they had a pool / spa. Also films on demand on the tv would have been nice. Charged me for things I didn't have but easily rectified and helpful staff

Review 2:We knew what to expect from Milsoms and it did not disappoint. Although our room was right near the restaurant we could not hear it at all which was fab! Bath and shower were lovely, room clean warm and quiet. Food was lovely, it is a bit pricey but was a treat for us so we didn't mind paying extra.

Review 3:Stayed the night for my girlfriends birthday at the start of December, We ate at the resturant and the food was lovely, and the room was also lovely big open rooms, we had the option of a shower or a bath which I liked, the staff was very welcoming and polite at all times.

Review 4:it was very warm in hotel and rooms.

Review 5:our car was damaged in car park. the staff went out of their way to help us. took photos of damage, got cctv film of other car and generally supported us. thankyou so much.

Review 6:No bad experiences but room was spoilt by details. No drawer space in room, no shelf space in bathroom. No room master switch so all lights air-con etc had to be switched on and off separately - no real worry for me but costly for hotel! Awkward and quite long distance to huge car park so drop luggage and passengers at front door first!

Review 7:Hotel surrounds and staff, very comfortable and warm room with good facilities. Sky TV, good WiFi, free mini - drinks and tea making. Good no-nonsense food, served by capable and cheerful staff.

Review 8:Fabulous place: beautiful rooms; friendly, professional staff; great atmosphere and good food. If you are travelling in or around Suffolk this is definitely worth bookingdotcom.

Review 9:nothing bad to say

Review 10:service at restaurant was excellent. food was delicious. was made to feel very welcome we really enjoyed are stay , wold definatly go back

Review 11:The shower facility (involving the ubiquitous climb into a bathtub) was pretty ordinary although, I understand, not the case in all rooms.

Review 12:Rural setting in pleasant grounds. A good restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week (breakfast cooked to order) on site.Very friendly and efficient staff in all areas of the hotel.

Review 13:No soap or shower gel in bathroom, just condition and lotion. Shower curtain drawn in by water, leaving no rom to more in shower - very uncomfortable showering experience.

Review 14:Bed was great, bar and restaurant very nice.

Review 15:Probably a bit churlish but there were an irritating number of lies in the restaurant or if not, a few persistent ones. I hate flies and the thought of them landing on food I am hoping to eat, is disgusting. I didn't have any buffet breakfast deliberately. I know this is a semi-rural location and flies are a natural hazard, but I have stayed in other places, where electric fly killers are deployed.

Review 16:The room, staff and food were all of good quality and good value. Didn't use the WiFi hence indifferent rating

Review 17:nothing to mention.

Review 18:The welcome we received as soon as we walked in, from Andrew front of house/reception who was just spot on!-All staff were very helpful, breakfast was just fab cooked as ordered wonderful service from ALL staff would highly recommend.

Review 19:The double bed was 2 singles pushed together- which would have been fine but they were slightly different heights... the room was so gorgeous though it didn't matter :)

Review 20:The food! And the amazing staff who couldn't do enough for us.

Review 21:we loved the informality, with very high standards. The staff were very attentive and polite.it was a very hot humid day and our room had air conditioning! so had an excellent nights sleep.

Review 22:The dining room in particular at breakfast time had flies they were crawling over the open buffet, which puts you off eating the food

Review 23:Evening meal was excellent .The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious

Review 24:room was in the corner on top floor and without any air conditioning was extremely hot at night

Review 25:excellent breakfast, large room/bathroom, friendly staff, great location/setting

Review 26:After a very hot summer's day the room was uncomfortably warm, and the desk fan provided was too noisy to have it on during the night. A summer-weight duvet, or even a sheet between the bottom sheet and duvet would have been an improvement, as would a portable air-con unit that wouldn't have impacted on the listed status of the building. Breakfast was delicious, but the choice was pretty pedestrian.

Review 27:Friendly, characterful staff. Interiors were quirky and interesting, with lots of modern art and bespoke metalwork.

Review 28:it wouldve been nice to have a swimming pool the view from the room was terrible

Review 29:upgaded to a better standard room which was nice, although view over roof was awful...felt very claustraphobic

Review 30:The end of our stay!!

Review 31:From first impression of Kesgrave Hall as you approach down the driveway till we left, the whole experience was flawless and top quality. Front of house team were excellent, the room was well presented, with a lovely bed and everything you could need. The only element of the scorecard That I could not award max score to was the WiFi, and that was because I didn't use it! Excellent hotel, excellent service and amenities, and first rate staff. Well done. As Arny said " I'll be back"

Review 32:Having to take our own dinner orders. Having your order taken is all part of customer service and our bill came to just under £90. Food quality was very good but service standard was just ok.

Review 33:We enjoyed the friendly approach of the staff. Our room was clean, comfortable and had unexpected little extras, ie stocked fridge. The grounds were very well maintained. We'll recommend to friends and family.

Review 34:It certainly didn't qualify as a "bad experience" but the restaurant is a little too noisy for our liking.

Review 35:Relaxed atmosphere; comfortable bed and good food. What more does one need for a good quality, short break?

Review 36:The room was very plain. The bathroom did not have a flannel in it and the vegetarian menu is pathetic. No veggie sausages at breakfast either

Review 37:The breakfast was fine, however my wife had to leave early to go to work and was denied breakfast even though it was paid for.

Review 38:Wifi in the evening was not available.

Review 39:Room was clean with every thing you need provided. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Comfortable lounge with selection of newspapers.

Review 40:Very basic room, too hot at night unable to sleep. Dining room and lounge a lot to be desired. Cooked breakfast came with 2 fried eggs that were overcooked - surely the chef at a 4* hotel can fry an egg!

Review 41:Location

Review 42:Window in our room would not open.I appreciate it is an old building but the decor and cupboard space it bit rough. The grouping in bathroom requires attention. Our friends were holding a 70 birthday party and had booked a solo artist ,we were requested at least twice to keep the noise down, the room was booked infill 2330.

Review 43:When we booked on line we wanted a relaxing evening and night away from our respective grown up and younger children. We thought this would be the idyllic country retreat quiet and remote. However there was a ball on and the pounding music meant we needed to have the TV on to drown out the noise and couldn't relax. At no time before or on arrival were we told about the likely disturbance. When we complained we got a Luke warm and insincere apology. If we'd have know we would have made alternative arrangements. We are obviously not attending the ball and therefore unable to relax and having paid a considerable sum to study for one night we were most disappointed at the attitude and lack of some type of offer for the disturbance without due notice. Obviously there should be a method of notifying such events when requesting to book as this ruined our week end!

Review 44:The location and the style and decor & the hot chocolate !

Review 45:The restaurant staff need training. Would expect room to have been cleaned when I returned at 2.45.

Review 46:Room 4 very comfortable with lovely view. Nice and warm

Review 47:Very warm in the food area eating breakfast next to the kitchen

Review 48:Loved everything about this hotel, not only was is set in beautiful grounds, staff were lovely and welcoming, food was delicious

Review 49:Initial coldness of the room, the Heating provision was not adequate. Staff helped to resolve this problem with the provision of an additional heater.

Review 50:Location of the hotel and the general atmosphere which was helped by the friendliness of the staff.

Review 51:Residents car parking was being refurbished and had to walk down some quite steep steps which could have been awkward, especially for the elderly. However work needs to be none sometimes and we were just unlucky. Did not spoil the experience at all.

Review 52:Wonderful rooms, staff friendly and couldn't do enough to help and the food was unbelievable.

Review 53:Bedroom (room 9) was really nice. Very clean and had a view over the grounds to the woods beyond. Food excellent, staff efficient, friendly and professional

Review 54:There was nothing to dislike!

Review 55:Stayed at Kesgrave Hall as our son was playing in a rugby tournament at St Josephs College. Fabulous stay - had dinner in the restaurant with friends - love the fact that you have to write your own order out! Bar staff were excellent especially a new girl who served us drinks before we went to change for dinner. We will be back!

Review 56:Staff seemed very eager to get rid of us, was advised i had been granted a late check out but when 12.00 came along i had a very rude call from one of the staff there.

Review 57:Views Quality Food and drink Relaxing Peace

Review 58:The lady on reception was particularly friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely- beautifully presented and well priced.

Review 59:There was insufficient seating whilst waiting for dinner - lounge full, patio full. We appreciate the no booking a table policy, however were not reassured that guests staying received priority to have a table at dinner. Service was not very good at dinner or breakfast - tables not cleared inbetween courses.

Review 60:Our room was lovely - it was in the old Headmasters House - quirky. Staff were friendly, but waiting staff would have benefited from more customer training.

Review 61:We were upgraded but the room had a bath in the main part of the bedroom with a sofa looking at the bath! The lighting was also very bad in the bathroom.

Review 62:Set in lovely grounds. Friendly staff.

Review 63:We were a bit disappointed in the morning we try to make a coffee but there's no milk..apart from that we were very happy with everything... Thank you very much.

Review 64:The food was lovely and the service was excellent...and we enjoy our special night at the milsoms thank you..

Review 65:We liked everything, just a shame they do not have a pool.

Review 66:Comfort with style in the room. Super menu and food in the restaurant. Excellent breakfast.

Review 67:I still find it a little strange that you can't book for a table for dinner. Sometimes this results in a long wait for a table at busy times.

Review 68:The quality of the food and accomodation was excellent. The hotel room is equipped to a high standard with a designer feel. The service is also excellent with attention to detail being the key.

Review 69:Housekeeping could be better ie quite a few dead flies and moths on window ledges and the carpet could have done with a quick hoover. A couple of light over the bath took it in turns flickering and the shower tray was hardly draining away; things that the housekeeping staff should note and get fixed. All reported to Reception as we booked out of Room 19

Review 70:The rooms were large and all the facilities as described. We had a deluxe double room and the air conditioning was very welcome on a warm evening. I thought the free mini bar with soft drinks was excellent. The TV had an amazing array of channels with a full Sky package, Sports, Movies etc. Very good breakfast, individually cooked. Very comfortable beds. Brilliant wi-fi and free
