Reviews for Best Western Plus Keavil House Hotel
Review 1:Our room was freezing when we checked in 6pm. Our bed was not clean as we discovered when we got into it! I took photos to prove this if the hotel are interested in pursuing this matter. Human stains were on the duvet! Our TV picture kept turning off every five minutes. The receptionist was not interested in helping us & was quick to inform us that management were in attendance at a function. Even her welcome when we arrived was shocking - she should not be at the front of house. At checkout, I asked if there was a card to review our stay; sadly there was not, but at least this receptionist listened. She said that she'd pass my comments on. This was a really disappointing stay & a real waste of £172. I only paid it as my wife didn't want me making a fuss; she wanted me to complete this review instead. We visit this hotel every year at this time, but I cannot see us returning again. It's a shame as our previous visits were all first-class.
Review 2:The restaurant was excellent as were its staff, especially the manager. He is a great front man & is not afraid to work & lend a hand, as well as charm the guests. They looked after us so well. Great food too! What a shame that the other departments cannot match the restaurant's high standards.
Review 3:The only improvement this hotel could make would be to put automatic doors at the front entrance of the hotel, to enter/leave reception. The manual doors are a pain when carrying luggage. That is really picky though - otherwise it is an excellent hotel with great staff
Review 4:If a wedding function in place, service drops, but to be expected, so go with the flow.
Review 5:Comfortable room, good spread for breakfast, waiters always very attentaive.
Review 6:Initially we had issues connecting to the wifi. We entered our details as requested but on responding to the automated email received to confirm our email address, connection was declined - we found this to be a frustratingly drawn out process. The second attempt was successful.
Review 7:All requests made to reception were addressed pleasantly and promptly. Great access to the leisure centre facilities (pool, spa and gym).
Review 8:Had to wait a lengthy period of time for a table in lounge bar for dinner as there was a wedding on and all the guests were moved here while room was being set up, but staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Review 9:Nice clean spacious room
Review 10:The room we were in had a broken phone line but it took until later the next day for them to let us know what was wrong with it. They did offer to move our room, so did try to make it better. On the food front the sticky toffee pudding was very hard on the bottom...disappointing. Make sure you're not to late for buffet breakfast, it all gets a bit dried out and hard, as we discovered on our second morning.
Review 11:We got a free room upgrade and an earlier check in time. The food was mostly excellent. I recommend the pate and tandoori sea bass. The staff were lovely and helpful.
Review 12:The bath towel I used after my shower still had hair on it from the last user. The entrance from the road dose not tell you to follow the drive
Review 13:Very friendly staff very helpful
Review 14:decor perhaps a little dated
Review 15:the staff. it was a last minute booking and we arrived late from the Open Golf although it was way past Dinner they could do a sandwich and they did the same for others arriving even later than us. gorgeous grounds and conservatory
Review 16:No air conditioning in room and it got very hot! But we realised later you can get a fan from reception.
Review 17:Fantastic staff! Amazing food! Loved our stay!
Review 18:Wifi was slow, but the hotel has updated their wifi system on the second night of our stay. I feel that the bed is not very comfortable because the mattress has lost support, but my wife said she is ok with it.
Review 19:Excellent environment, big room with decent bathroom, very clean. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant in hotel, the dining room is very lovely and the quality of food is superb. Staff are nice. Would definitely want to return.
Review 20:Booked and paid for an executive room our room was not one. View of a. brick wall. Staff/kitchen overstretched as hosting a wedding and a large birthday celebration.
Review 21:The food was good. The use of the spa
Review 22:Breakfast was OK but pre-cooked food lies around being heated up. First night's dinner was very good but the "light meal" choices on the menu were awful.
Review 23:Good location, quiet hotel. Staff were very friendly
Review 24:The staff were extremely nice at the hotel and nothing was a problem. The leisure facilities were brilliant and the changing areas were really clean. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was great. The Restaurant for evening meal was nice with a good selection. Quiet location but very relaxing.
Review 25:Room was generally clean and fine for an overnight stay but bathroom needed upgraded. Dining room blinds and windows not clean!!! Kept awake from midnight until 4am with wedding party guests in hallway and in garden.
Review 26:Location and staff perfect
Review 27:Gave up waiting for room service on the phone, had to go down to reception at 1am, Did not appreciate being woken up twice at around 2am by drunken guests knocking on bedroom doors at 2am. Receptions answer the following morning was hardly satisfactory just saying they were busy and were not responsible for the behaviour of drunken guests at 2am!
Review 28:Food was good, room was comfy, staff were pleasant and helpful (apart from Reception)
Review 29:Location was excellent, Staff service was great and rooms very comfortable and clean. Facilities all well maintained and clean and special mention that I had a booking at Hi Gorgeous for a beauty treatment and was most impressed and will definitely be back soon.
Review 30:This hotel is a 3* at best, needs a complete refurb. Very low pressure in the shower. Uncomfortable, too soft bed. Breakfast very poor - very limited spread. No mobile signal.
Review 31:Room far too hot and not big enough. Shower didn't work properly and water in the sink tap was too hot so had to mix from too taps. There is no proper bar area in the hotel which it could benefit from.
Review 32:Nice hotel location and good spa. Very tasty breakfast.
Review 33:Dinner was very disappointing - staff listened to our complaint and acted accordingly removing the price of the wine from our bill.
Review 34:Spa and leisure pool were wonderful
Review 35:If leisure facilities were more connected and not have to walk outdoors to access but overall was very good.
Review 36:Size of rooms were excellent. Food was lovely and staff were very friendly. Health facilities very good.
Review 37:No heating in room on arrival, or in bathroom, the radiators never came on at all, we were given an electric heater and told the heating was on a timer...but it never actually came on at all.
Review 38:The Health club was great, pool was lovely.
Review 39:Very picky I know but spin drier in men's changing room out of action as well as jacuzzi . Wouldn't have change dour plans but this should be updated on the hotels website . Wifi signal strength could do with beefing up a little at the extremities of the accommodation .
Review 40:Staff very attentive and pleasant to converse with especially young restaurant assistant manager. Room 36 in newer part was very spacious and warm (in fact had to turn heating down). Nice bathroom very clean with warm towel radiator . Good for drying swimming cloths between morning and evening. Indoor swimming pool was fantastic in terms of a good length and a reasonable depth compared to some other leisure pools we've been to . Although I didn't use the gym was well spec ex out with combination of machines and Olympic free weights and wide range of dumbbells . Originally planned to only use the inclusive dinner option one night but ended up dining in for both our nights' stay and we're not disappointed on either occasion. Reasonably convenient for getting into town and catching a train over to Edinburgh without hAving to pay the big city rates . Good train connections from Dunfermline.
Review 41:Food not good No atmosphere Chambermaids outside door at 8am, felt rushed Rushed at dinner, tried taking plates before finished, all rushed
Review 42:Location
Review 43:Excellent service Excellent meal Excellent venue The room was beautifully decorated and Nicola who carried out the MC duties was first class. The staff were superb and one guest who did not want dessert was offered biscuits and cheese although this was not on the set menu.
Review 44:I found the bathroom sink was quite small. It is not very easy to wash your face without putting water on the floor.
Review 45:I really enjoyed my stay at Best Western Plus Keavil House Hotel. The staff was polite and helpful, the bed comfortable, the room very clean. There is a wide selection available for breakfast, mine was delicious!
Review 46:The bed was not comfortable, the room was too far away from the reception. There aren't many tv channels. The hotel is quite dated.
Review 47:The staff were very nice and friendly.
Review 48:Limited selection of ciders. No local breweries or sign of local produce.
Review 49:The room was lovely, no sign of wear or tear. It had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and easy to approach with any enquiries. Restaurant provides tasty food and good range of choice.
Review 50:Nothing to dis-like really. There were two weddings on and there had been one on the Friday and one on the Sunday too - if you stay as a non-wedding guest it is worth asking for a quiet room away from reception. This will minimise number of people passing your door!. Do not be put off though - great hotel in every respect.
Review 51:I had 5 rooms booked for my daughter's wedding. The staff were amazing throughout, ensuring we had rooms to suit our guest's needs and making sure we understood what was available/where things were. Rooms were excellent, meal for over 60 first-class and breakfast was of the highest order.
Review 52:There was nothing I did not like. we ate in the restaurant for our dinner and breakfast. Both times it was outstanding. we will be back. The only hiccup was the central heating was not working in our room but we ended up with a heater to try and heat the room as the plumber was coming the next day.
Review 53:I liked everything about it. The staff were second to none everyone so helpful and friendly to be commended. The spa with steam, sauna, jacuzzi and pool was an oasis of pleasure.
Review 54:Drinks very pricey.
Review 55:All the staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly. We were attending our niece's wedding. It was a lovely day from start to finish and the meal was delicious. Would recommend as a wedding venue or a base for a weekend away. Margaret Glasgow

Review 112:The food was particularly poor in both presentation and quality. I returned two meals over three nights, not a good ratio, some menu items were not available and we were not informed until the dishes were being served. Internal phone systems were down intermittently to room service and front desk.
Review 113:As expected for its price range
Review 114:Dinning room was very grubby servise was terrible not enough staff that knew what they were doing. Asked for tea and toast 4 times this also includes the duty manager it arrived 30 minutes after I had eaten.
