Reviews for Heacham Manor Hotel
Review 1:Excellent location. Always a warm welcome. Staff on whole very good. Used to enjoy fresh milk in a flask in room and homemade cookies. This doesn't seem to happen now.
Review 2:Over two days menu items not available, serving staff not informed, after 20 mins. then to be informed our order was not available, we complained to the restaurant manager but she just walked away, poor effort.
Review 3:The rooms & the Hotel
Review 4:I asked for twin room on the ground floor, which I got for my uncle but unfortunately there was only a bath & no shower, by requesting a downstairs room I thought that indicated someone infirm, plus there heating broke down.
Review 5:Everything was lovely, my room, the food & the staff were really friendly, would stay again.
Review 6:The ubiquitous "No Problem" from staff whenever actualproblem mentioned, with resulting lack of action. Promises via websitewere not kept
Review 7:General area
Review 8:downstairs the public rooms were poorly furnished,no cosy sofas or warm furnishings.
Review 9:the large bed in a nice sized room but shame about the very dark furniture.
Review 10:Footpath over golf course unfortunately leads to an unattractive part of the beach - better to take the car elsewhere.
Review 11:Relaxed atmosphere in reception, bar and restaurant. Attentive staff who were helpful when needed but never obtrusive. Comfortable room in the main building with view over golf course from first floor. Excellent breakfast including buffet and individually prepared and served main dish.
Review 12:The breakfast wasn't great. There was no unsliced break or rolls, and no croissants or pastried. The cooked meal was fine, it was just the selection that I thought was poor for this grade of hotel.
Review 13:This hotel is set in a peaceful location. I originally booked a room in one of the cottages, but arrived to find I had been given an upgrade to a superior room in the main house - and it was a lovely room.
Review 14:Lovely views from hotel. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Excellent breakfast. Did not eat dinner there, so can't comment on restaurant. Nor did we play golf.
Review 15:No table cloths, conservatory, bar & lounge were cold, breakfast buffet was a bit limited and had to make our own toast, that's not an issue it's just at the price ................. Shower was in the bath and also the towels were too small, was expecting something better than an ordinary towel
Review 16:Good size room, but then it was the expensive one, nice view, food was good, but for the price it wasnt as good as some other hotels in the area that wee had stayed at.
Review 17:Sunday morning breakfast was a disappointment, every other meal had been great. Breakfast was too early. particularly at the weekend
Review 18:Comfort of hotel bedrooms and lounge areas, helpful and friendly staff, location. Fabulous food quality and choice was amazing
Review 19:Charged wrongly for last days dinner and both my wife and I has a case of tummy trouble on the day we left.
Review 20:Open spaces and near to facilities. Comfortable beds.
Review 21:The heat in the room, we stayed in samphire rooms which was hot, no heating on and had window open as wide as and that is end of October. Limited menu choice if you stay more than 1 night
Review 22:The location and set up of the hotel
Review 23:The food in the restaurant is truly dreadful and massively overpriced. £18.95 for dry chicken wrapped in bacon with an inedible carbonised stack of potatoes. Go elsewhere for dinner - you won't regret it.
Review 24:Quiet, accessible and reasonably priced for the accommodation (not the food). Don't be surprised, however, if you are put in a newly built "cottage" outside of the main hotel - not quite what we were expecting.
Review 25:Very comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff. Our 2 rooms in the cottages were ideal as we could walk freely between rooms in complete privacy. Ideal when travelling with 2 small children. Would definitely return.
Review 26:Room window over main front door where deliveries were made in the middle of the night One bed creaked incessantly No gym facilities on site as led to believe
Review 27:Not being disturbed if we wanted to spend time in our room
Review 28:Nothing at all other than our stay being too short
Review 29:Wonderfully situated in pleasant gardens, a robust walk to the seafront. Parking no problem. Delightful bar & restaurant serving excellent food, with little delay. Rooms independent of the main building with good views & all the usual facilities. Peace & quiet to be had, or friendly banter in the lounge bar. We will return.
Review 30:The only room that was available was a standard room and it was across the courtyard and in a barn conversion up some steep stairs. Room very warm and only a small roof window. Not very quiet due to people in the opposite room and below. Would not choose a standard room again.
Review 31:The hotel was ideal for visiting the local area
Review 32:no information that i could see that there was no lifts to second floor. Not suitable for anyone who has trouble with stairs,as the case is with my wife.Hotel excellent in providing alternative ground floor room.
Review 33:as a golfer the hotel was ideal
Review 34:As with many hotels, no hook on bedroom door for an outdoor coat/jacket. Though a stand for a suitcase/bag in room, nowhere for it to be placed.
Review 35:Lovely setting. Warm welcome at reception. Room well appointed and comfortable. Food very good and service in restaurant excellent.
Review 36:Tight shower cubicle- lucky we were only slim. Shower towels were rather small and we found it almost impossible to get them dry as the towel rail only accommodated them folded.
Review 37:Friendly staff and comfortable bed! Splendid views from Dining Room. Coffee/chocolate mousse was delicious as was all the food. Excellent parking facility and TV provision for wet afternoons.
Review 38:No light snacks available in the evening
Review 39:Loved the setting and the slightly noisy ducks they were no problem.Breakfast was very good plenty of fresh fruit and well cooked main with a good selection.
Review 40:Restaurant fully booked, with what seemed to be outside groups, was amazed they couldn't fit two people in that had paid £140 for a room.
Review 41:Room very comfortable, Wifi very good, Staff very friendly and attentive.
Review 42:The Hotel. We arrived on the Saturday for a weekend stay because of thefacilities at the Hotel included a bar and a restaurant. We paid more tohave those facilities on tap but would suggest that unless you are partof a wedding party or a golfing group then don't go over theweekend. There was no restaurant or bar in the main hotel that we coulduse because of a wedding booking and the Avocet bar was occupied by aprivate Golfing group for a private dinner so on a Saturday eveningafter travelling all the way up to Huntstanton we had to get back intothe car, find a restaurant, have dinner and drink then we had to driveback to the hotel and as instructed by reception we went into the Avocetbar but again with no seats available to us. At no point during ourbooking with booking.com did it or the hotel flag up that there were nofacilities in the bar or dining rooms available on the Saturday thatwe'd booked up for and as the £50 non refundable deposit is swipedoff and taken out of our account before we even closed the web page weassumed that what was advertised was what we would have - felt more thana bit let down, wouldn't recommend it unless you call first andbypass booking.com to see if the written facilities would still beavailable on the nights you were staying.
Review 43:Huntstanton
Review 44:Very disappointed with the evening £25 set meal, all the items we prefered were extras. The full English breakfast i had twice was probably the worst i have ever had.
Review 45:All the hotel staff were so very friendly.
Review 46:The room smelled of smoke! I seem to remember last time we stayed it was the same.. The breakfast was better a couple of years ago, this time round I found it pretty cheaply done, although the waiters/ waitresses were very good.
Review 47:I liked the family room, the children slept in a not very comfortable sofa bed but they don't care, and that's separate from the bedroom so that's pretty good. The room is like a little apartment which is great when you're travelling with 3 kids.
Review 48:Location, comfortable room, breakfast had a good choice. We attended a christening lunch and it was excellent and the staff were very efficient and friendly.
Review 49:We found the mattresses and pillows to be of inferior quality and not as comfortable as they should have been. We also thought it would have been appropriate at booking time to advise us we were not in the main hotel but one of the adjoining (albeit quite adequate) buildings.
Review 50:Staff were excellent, very helpful, polite, and friendly. Breakfasts were first class - although it did seem strange to have to nominate a time for breakfast.
Review 51:The last two mornings of our stay the breakfast was spot on. Prior to that the fried eggs were over cooked and the boiled eggs under cooked.
Review 52:We had two evening meals, both were excellent.
Review 53:Ground floor family room very warm and could not have windows open as unable to lock them in an open position and children had patio doors so obviously unable to leave them open over night.
Review 54:We were kept awake by other guests who were at the bar until 3am which is appalling considering the amount of money for the room
Review 55:The staff were very friendly and very helpful
Review 56:The breakfast was average, and we were disappointed with dinner, and no cocktails available in the bar.
Review 57:Location was fabulous, sea view from our bedroom.
Review 58:Beds comfy, front of staff very friendly and confident, hotel manager very self imposed, did not listen to any complaint I tried to put to him, and then said , I'm on holiday later today, for two weeks, so somebody else will deal with this, what an attitude, I booked this hotel for the location to be close to the family, would come back if the owners could reasure me that things could be better . Look forward to your reply Mr b r wagstaff
Review 59:£248 for 2 nights B&B too expensive. Extractor fan in windowless bathroom did not work. This was reported but not corrected. Shower tray did not empty quickly enough, so potential blockage possible. We mentioned this too late for remedial action. At first breakfast waiter forgot to pick up my order for "the full Norfolk". Hence when it arrived, it was less than hot. Quality of the ingredients of the full Norfolk" were sub-standard. All the staff were pleasant but as in many English establishments, under-trained.
Review 60:The location.
Review 61:Breakfast quality was a little on the poor side for the full Engish, rather dry and very tasteless bacon. My partner felt the egg was rather rubbery. Other than that the amount available outside was excellent though having to wait for the toast machine was tedious. Waitress forgot our tea and coffee on our second day and we had to ask twice before we got any .
Review 62:Free WiFi was excellent. Being in Samphire was much more comfortable than last time in Lavender as having windows opposite ends meant we could let heat out. Beds were very comfy and room was a good size.
Review 63:Stayed during a US Major Golf event. As a golfer's hotel, it would have been good to watch the event but not possible due to a local "Quiz Night" and all the TV's were switched off.
Review 64:Very good quality hotel in all respects.
Review 65:The main house is homely and comfortable and of a very high standard. The majority of rooms and cottage accommodation is very modern with a high standard of finish and equipment including comfortable beds, clean and cared for. Every staff member that a visitor connects with is very polite, courteous and helpful. Finally the breakfasts where'll you could ask for.
Review 66:because we didn't stay in room in the hotel ours was the complex it was far to hot even with the window fully open 24/7 and the outside temperature wasn't high high teens needs air conditioning so would definitely not visit again.
Review 67:Good location
Review 68:I felt it was a very average room for the money. The buffet breakfast was very average. I really do not think packeted croissants are acceptable for the price paid. Porridge oats were provided but no facility to make porridge if that was what they were for.
Review 69:The setting was very nice and in a fairly good location.
Review 70:Although cooked breakfasts were very good because freshly cooked, other options such as prepared fresh fruit and continental options were limited and often ran out. It seemed a little disorganised at times.
Review 71:Attractive and comfortable hotel in a very convenient location .
Review 72:this isn't heachams fault but the taxi services are not good after 10.30pm from hunstanton to hotel
Review 73:friendly staff lovely place to stay food excellent
Review 74:Very poor tv/ wifi reception No extra pillows in cottage States dog friendly but no dogs in.main building...and some stuff for children perhaps??☺
Review 75:Lovely building...fab surroundings and friendly staff.....so very nearly 5 star but..... ☺
Review 76:We came with my Dad who was 89 whilst we were there. We were looked after from arriving and the lady on the bar in the avocet where we ate (due to a wedding) was brilliant. She took a photo for us , carried the cake ,sang to Dad and really made it special. From arriving to leaving we were looked after superbly by all.Luxury
Review 77:Only problem is that the accommodation was very hot even in just fairly warm conditions.Suggest this is a design/build problem
Review 78:very convenient with grand children Good accommodation for the family with a small kitchen.Fans in all rooms
Review 79:was shown 1 menu when we arrived given a completley different 1 in evening which was very disappointing as the only thing suitable was the most expensive dish on there. at breakfast the was no black pudding at all to go with the full english.
Review 80:arrived early and was allowed to go to our room as soon as it was ready.friendly staff.very clean and tidy.
Review 81:The breakfast was horrible! We could use the extra bed as it was broken and I didn't like how the boys has to walk through the master bedroom to get to the bathroom, very poor idea.
Review 82:Pleasant location
Review 83:We didn't get the alarm call we requested, and had to hurry to get to a funeral in time - not relaxing. And the next we got the alarm call, though hadn't wanted one. Annoying
Review 84:Location and views
Review 85:Overpriced for what you get, room had slanting roof, lots of head bumping to get to the kettle. Dog barking in downstairs room. Lock on entrance was fiddly. Staff in breakfast room needed direction, table not laid correctly. Was informed by member of serving staff they did not expect that many people for breakfast, yet we had been asked when booking in what time we wanted breakfast.
Review 86:Bed was very comfortable, grounds are nice. We used the bar for a nightcap, staff member was pleasant, drinks fairly priced.
Review 87:main course of the evening meal was well below par. Staff at breakfast were uncoordinated leading to 'lost' orders and delayed service.
Review 88:large bed in spacious room
Review 89:Nothing
Review 90:I liked the accommodation which was self contained cottage and it was very quiet, I thought they were very well planned out and not far from the main hotel The beds were the most comfortable that I have ever slept in and there was everything that you needed. Lovely grounds to walk around especially with being able to have our dog with us. We had breakfast in the dining room which was in the conservatory overlooking the golf course. Varied menu for breakfast and what we chose was very nice. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family. The hotel is not too far from the seaside town of Hunstanton with a long promenade and beach and also lovely gardens to walk around.
Review 91:We did not like the milk in those smelly flasks and we would have preferred wrapped biscuits we had to get these things from tesco .felt this was penny pinching.
Review 92:because we had small children the staff laid us a table in the drawing.room.The children could sleep and play and we had a wonderful time together
Review 93:Waking up to find a very wet carpet from a leaking radiator. However problem rectified immediately and we were given another room with a dry carpet!
Review 94:There was a power cut( no fault of the hotel) The hotel's response was excellent and arrangements for an evening meal in an alternative venue were made with transport provided.
Review 95:I felt that the room we were given was the one no one wanted as the view of the gardens and golf course were obscured by the roof of the dining conservatory. It was also extremely hot, although a free standing air conditioning unit was provided it was noisy. The shower cubicle was tiny just enough room to get through the doors into the shower If you were a large/tall person you would be in trouble. The carpet in the room was tacky when you were barefooted ugh! £134.00 per night was an extortionate price to pay for a supposedly superior room! The bar and lounge area were jaded and needed decorating. The dining conservatory was relatively new but the food at dinner and breakfast was disappointing. At dinner we chose the Thai crab fishcake with chilli sauce for a starter which was overcooked made more of potato than crab and the chilli sauce was non existent. My partner's burger main course was also dry and chewy as it was overcooked. The breakfast next day was not good either, we chose to have the cooked breakfast. My partner's fried egg was slimy as it was not cooked properly. It was sent back and the waiter didn't really apologise and when it was returned it was overcooked. I ordered poached eggs which were hard as they were overdone and in both breakfasts the bacon was hard and salty as though it had been kept warm for hours under heated lamps. The fact as a non resident guest the hotel was charging £12.50 for breakfast was a joke and did not represent value for money. We would definitely not stay at this hotel again and neither would we recommend it to family or friends.
Review 96:The location of the hotel was excellent and the gardens were lovely. On the whole the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.
Review 97:We liked the "chalet"accommodation ,we enjoyed the peace and quiet, the beautiful setting, the staff were helpful, the breakfast was superb, near to amenities if you required them.we would go again.
Review 98:The smell outside our cottage, leaking sewer. Lack of privacy when a men staying in the apartment above us, just walked in. Imagine our how surprised we were, as the men didn't even knock on the door. Noise when people above us walked downstairs
Review 99:Staff is amazing. Very helpful too. The venue and our cottage was awesome too.
Review 100:We forgot toothbrushes and nothing at hotel to buy. Had to go out to shop . Sewage unblocking in morning on the path. Breakfast below usual standard, waiting 20 mins.
Review 101:wonderful beds and quiet
Review 102:Did not like having to pay extra for downstairs room due to disability. However maybe any standard rooms were not available. Breakfast usually overdone.
Review 103:Location and setting. Room facilities good.
Review 104:Only concerns were small size of bedroom -feel this should be intimated in brochure ~plus distance of outside bedrooms from main building should be made obvious as there would be ample time to get soaked moving between them if unlucky with weather !
Review 105:Food was excellent as was service.Staff helpful @ informative Bedroom clean as were all public areas Hotel quiet but within easy reach of Norfolks attractions.
Review 106:Charged wrong room rate but rectified quickly when pointed out.
Review 107:Staff were friendly and always wanting to help. Made special effort to handle food allergies Room was clean, well prepared, quiet and comfortable.
Review 108:Simply not worth £134 for a one night stay. During our stay a wedding was taking place, and all other guests were made, very much, to play second fiddle. Very poor and chaotic breakfast.
Review 109:Our room was large, comfortable and clean.Bathroom was large with good (over bath)shower.
Review 110:a bit weird that the receptionist maintained the restaurant was full with only a place at the bar available 30 min later, when the bar was empty and the restaurant staff let us chose between two available tables.
Review 111:A quaint hotel set in beautiful landscape right at the golf course. The hotel is a bit dated and the carpets are awful, but the staff are superfriendly, particularly in the restaurant. Dinner was absolutely delicious and breakfast was very good. its a bit far to the beach.
Review 112:The resterants booking system was really poor. On a number of occasions we were told we had not book for breakfast and dinner both of which I saw the receptionist do. Daily papers were not delivered yet were definitely ordered. The window sill on the main stairs was covered with dead flies for the duration of our visit.
Review 113:The location and tranquillity of the hotel were first rate. Plenty of interesting villages and beaches close by to visit.
Review 114:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 115:Although the menu was fairly limited the meals were beautifully served and excellently prepared. The staff were excellent and the facilities very comfortable.
Review 116:Little to not like, breakfast took a little longer to arrive than expected, beer was not cold enough for my tastes
Review 117:Setting and building, old world charm, excellent service
Review 118:Very noisy floor boards and old doors,we were woken twice by noisy residents. Our bill was 30% more than we expected.
Review 119:The location was nice and quiet with ample car parking near the entrance, very handy in foul weather
Review 120:You mus have used a female plumber to install the toilet in Room 8. OK for a lady to use but a gent cannot hold up the seat cover while weeing because the cystern is installed to far forward to allow it to lean open.
Review 121:Friendly staff who were very helpful
Review 122:Had to cross wet car park to reach reception and breakfast. Dinner not available until 9 pm and had to drive out to eat.
Review 123:comfortable room and good breakfast
Review 124:They loved the room and were very touched to be greeted by the manager on arrival, loved the room and thoroughly enjoyed the meals. Thanks to all the staff.
Review 125:Sleeping accommodation disappointing for the tariff - little ordinary & only one bed sofa for two thirteen year olds to share, did expect a bed each! Needs updating & to be of a similar standard to the main hotel complex.
Review 126:Lovely setting. Main hotel complex very impressive. Great walk through the golf course to the sea front & in either direction along side the sea front.
Review 127:Booked dinner in the evening and although the meal we ordered was just about edible, the portions were tiny and we felt in this day and age to not include vegetables in the very expensive main course was penny pinching to say the least. My partners dish was all pastry and very little filling and the size of my fish was not large enough to feed a toddler!
Review 128:The location was fine and ina good pposition for visiting many local beauty spots. Staff wee polite and helpful.
Review 129:Bedroom was a bit hot at night.
Review 130:Lovely clean accommodation. we stayed in a self catering apartment, ideal with having two young children but also had benefit of hotel facilities and breakfast. children made very welcome. food good too.
Review 131:Personally I feel that the rooms were slightly overpriced for size and facilities in them.
Review 132:This hotel was blissfully located and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 133:Could clearly hear and was disturbed by visitors in the next room. They disobeyed the no smoking rules etc... We could hear their conversations , and who was having a bath or a shower. Would have preferred to stay in the main building. Lots of door banging from 5.00am
Review 134:Close to Hunstanton and the beach. Everywhere was very clean.
Review 135:we were charged £5 for a put-up bed when there were already enough beds for 4 as advertised. this was not explained during a phone call from the hotel to confirm layout. a bit unfair since prices are pretty high anyway
Review 136:friendly and efficient staff, great well-equipped chalet, plenty to do with more time
Review 137:Apartment rooms perfect for a family. Lovely setting and really good breakfast. Being able to use the nearby holiday park facilities was a bonus on a wet and cold bank holiday Sunday!
Review 138:Stayed in a standard room away from the hotel itself. Unable to connect to WiFi. Very frustrating.
Review 139:Would be happy to return. Been before. Generally very comfortable everything as would be expected.
