Reviews for King Malcolm Hotel
Review 1:No extractor fan in the bathroom. Room was too hot. The showers are not thermostatic so inevitably they ran hotter and colder as other guests used the taps or flushed the toilets.
Review 2:Staff were brilliant. Clean and tidy. Lots of parking.
Review 3:The Bar needs up - grading and it was cold, although they did have the football on BT and Sky Sports.
Review 4:Good friendly staff. Accommodation was comfortable, breakfast was nice.
Review 5:bed could be better bit lumpy mattress ,seemed like 2 singles pushed together ,
Review 6:clean room, easy to locate, nice cooked to order bk/fast, friendly staff, free sky tv channels warm enough when heating turned on in room ,15mins to knockhill race circuit
Review 7:Shower was pathetic, might as well have stood in the rain, manager couldn't care less when issues were brought to his attention, and did nothing!
Review 8:Leaving
Review 9:Breakfast was poor. Scrambled egg and mushrooms smelt most unpleasant. The eggs the consistency of a block of butter and the mushrooms a nasty dark brown colour and may have been recooked several times.
Review 10:Convenient location for getting to social event in Dunfermline
Review 11:Connecting rooms (with a empty room) with inbetween door that could not be locked. As we didn't want anyone to join us at night we decided to roll the bed against the door. We found hair, hairpins and garbage under the bed. The rest was clean. Toilet didn't flush very well.
Review 12:Location and breakfast
Review 13:Hairs in sink and on bathroom floor, very off-putting and previously completed review sheet was found behind the information point in the bedroom. Another sign of cleaning not been up to standard, a shame as everything else was good.
Review 14:Relaxed, nice bar and restaurant area.
Review 15:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Took time to chat to you and willing to help in any way. Room was lovely, no faults at all. We ate in the hotel every evening, no need to go out. Very good choice at Breakfast. Our short stay was excellent.
Review 16:The bed was a bit squishy, the curtains were missing a few rings, the carpets were quite worn in the hallway, the door closing mechanism was broken, which made the door slam shut, loudly. There were no beans or potato scones for breakfast.
Review 17:The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the ladies on reception and the lady working in the attached bar. Free WiFi, always good, working TV with freeview, and a powerful shower!
Review 18:Room not cleaned or touched between the 2 nights I stayed. Breakfast before 7am had poor selection of fruit, loud background music.
Review 19:Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Room was well appointed, good WiFi and desk for working on.
Review 20:Lighting poor in rooms, little dated.
Review 21:The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel had a good atmosphere. Facilities in room very good. Location ideal for public transport.
Review 22:Older hotel so ended up in an adjoining room with a very drunk couple next door who were very loud! Sadly didn't feel entirely comfortable with the door being there. Absolutely not the hotels fault, just something to be aware of.
Review 23:Location was great for me, super friendly staff, great breakfast in the morning. Room was big and good temperature & shower pressure brilliant!
Review 24:Frequent travel within uk on business purposes on behalf of a Japanesecompany, but first time as I am asked to provide my national id card andhotel makes a photocopy, although the guarantee was already taken frommy credit card... Thank you for this level of UN-trust, by this reasonnever return there, even the Hotel Manager claim as a general policy, sowelcome to King Malcolm...
Review 25:Nice clean room, not too hot and stuffy as so many hotel rooms are. Also although there was a wedding party there was no noise coming through the walls. Staff friendly efficient and welcoming, even spoke to my dog!
Review 26:Meals were a let down, have stayed before so was looking forward to our evening meal and breakfast but both were disappointing, Bed felt worn out and saggy/dipping at one side.
Review 27:Location, pet friendly, warm welcome, fair size room, bathrooms with windows, internet, parking
Review 28:Breakfast lacked imagination. Breakfast cereals should be boxed. Whole place could do with painting. Several carpets showed signs of wear and tear. Outside badly needs swept and cared for. Management look slack.
Review 29:Flat screen TV. Bed was OK.
Review 30:At breakfast the scrambled eggs were inedible, reception forgot an important wake up call, generally the service was a bit haphazard and cool rather than friendly. Our bedroom was a bit cramped (as the door opened it hit the bed) and the whole bedroom wing was too hot.
Review 31:Cleanliness of room and bathroom, flexibility over check out time, good coffee.
Review 32:the staff were very friendly and always willing to help with any problems we had as well as helping us with getting taxis and directions for the places we were going. the location is great, nearby to alot of resteraunts and shops and only a short walk from the train station.

Review 34:Me and my partner had an absolute lovely time the room was brilliant staff all friendly and again mark on the reception was fab very helpful and welcoming will be back very soon!! X
Review 35:Carpets in corridors and stairs were threadbare in many places. The bedroom and bathroom need a total refurb. These rooms are from the 1960s and clearly haven't been touched since. Hotel is very tatty, tired and in need of money being spent on it.
Review 36:The room was very clean
Review 37:Nothing major - shower curtain was a bit smelly which cleaning staff should notice, and lack of power sockets near bed for overnight phone charging. No biggie.
Review 38:Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, changed my room quickly and with no problem when I realised they'd put me in a twin instead of a double. We went back to work after checking in and they advised we call in with our food order if we'd be late returning and they'd have it ready for us. Great stuff.

Review 102:Friendly reception and remembered from previous visit six months previously. Provided non standard condiment (marmite) when requested.
Review 103:Room 211. There is a fire door in the corridor right outside this room. It closes with a loud bang and the walls shake with it!
Review 104:Check-in was straightforward and staff friendly enough.
Review 105:I have no complaints.
Review 106:The staff were cheerful and helpful. My room was well appointed and verycomfortable. Meals and snacks were well prepared and presented withplenty of space in the dining room and bar facilities. Parking wasplentiful and accessible to the front. Review 107:Very expensive toast for breakfast.
Review 108:Hotel was clean tidy and well maintained. Food was very good and served quickly with out delay. Nice Hotel will use again.
Review 109:Staff booked us single beds when we booked double. We had to move rooms! Rooms dated decor, sheets old grey brown not white, very tired decor. Breakfast staff rude, couldnt be bothered to serve full breakfast menu one day. Its a bit out of town. Room prices very high for the standard.
Review 110:Leaving after spending 4 nights there!
Review 111:Hotel handy for travel around Fife or into Edinburgh. Parking facilities excellent in nicely designed grounds with tables for eating or a refreshment outside. The conservatory would be an excellent location for a private dinner - seating 20-25 people. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms clean and comfortable.
Review 112:Room had a slight dank smell. No extractor in bathroom so window open on my return to air it. breakfast quality poor - all options. Decor tired. Public bar is a dive and hotel bar seldom manned.
Review 113:Location - proximity to my office. Staff were friendly enough. Free WiFi.
Review 114:We only ate breakfast on the first morning as even though we got therefairly early so did several other guests and they only had one manserving & clearing tables. He worked hard but it was far to much forone person to attend to effieciently and service was slow and the tableswere not being looked after and under the pressure things wereforgotten.Speaking to the locals in Dunfermeline the management are wellknown for having little regard for their staff which was borne out bythe experience of my stay.On checking in on the 2nd day I asked for mykey by room number quite clearly but on trying it in the door found itwas the wrong number by 100.When I returned to the reception rather thana sympathetic apology by the lady for my wasted time she just retortedthat I was given the key to the room number I asked for!
