Reviews for Best Western Le Strange Arms Hotel
Review 1:The location is superb, looking out to sea, the staff are all friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel is very clean and tidy and you get a feeling that all the staff care about their hotel and work well together to keep it this way.
Review 2:Room had no heating as both the radiator and fan were broken. I was offered a fan heater but I cannot do with them, so my room was cold especially at 4am
Review 3:location perfect staff friendly and helpful
Review 4:Breakfast was a bit slow although very good with friendly service. No problem for me but would have been had I been wanting to be on my way.
Review 5:Excellent location, helpful and friendly staff. Lovely being able to walk directly from the hotel grounds on to a deserted beach. It was however December.
Review 6:Security lights outside window. Just a bit weird that some of the wallpaper was stuck up with sticky tape!
Review 7:Watching the kitesurfers as the sun goes down. The staff, nothing is too much trouble. Good free wifi.
Review 8:Extra payments for breakfast ( own choice) but seems high.
Review 9:Fantastic position, right on the beautiful beach. Comfortable hotel, not too 'stuffy'.
Review 10:Sometimes a bit of a problem with the number of people trying to find a table at the same time.
Review 11:Ideal country location with sea views and peaceful atmosphere. With the ability to take long walks along the beach.
Review 12:It's time to change the mattresses and update the rooms a bit . The TV was flat screen but too small to see comfortably from the bed . The bed creaked dreadfully every time we moved !Price of food seemed to high for what was on offer .
Review 13:The breakfast was lovely ad the staff very helpful .
Review 14:The evening meal off their menu for the day was really very poor. We chose to eat somewhere else on the second night of our stay.
Review 15:Nice rooms, friendly staff and a good location
Review 16:Tinned fruit for B/ fast. No yoghurt unless you asked. Bacon and tomato Hardly cooked.only skimmed milk for Cereal.
Review 17:Lovely room with everything you might need. Very helpful staff who were Wonderful in the emergency we had .
Review 18:Shower didn't work. No shelf in bathroom for toiletries No glasses for drinking water V. Bad siting of full length mirror in bathroom (opp wc!)
Review 19:Position with ample parking. Excellent breakfast.
Review 20:We were warned after booking that there would be a function ie wedding on one of the nights we stayed and that noise could continue until 11.00 pm. The noise continued well after then and also people were loading up vans straight outside our room and packing away until gone 2 am in the morning. We visited the hotel to relax and unwind and it was anything but. It's fine to host a function but don't do it at the expense of other paying guests - £175 a night is not cheap.
Review 21:The hotel is ideally located with lawns straight down to the beach, very well maintained, an idyllic setting with a pub next door for convenience if you don't want to have dinner in the hotel.
Review 22:Only suggestion our room would have benefitted from air conditioning even with a fan it was far to hot for comfort
Review 23:The view from the Hotel and seating in the conservatory and the lounge was very comfortable
Review 24:Dinner very poor, room very warm and woken to bottle bin being emptied for 30 mins or more! Waitress behind bar in morning very surly and in need of training in social skills and manners! Tables on terrace not cleaned down from previous evening. Overall not worth £145 for accommodation.
Review 25:Room was clean but not 4 star standard.
Review 26:The evening meal was very expensive, poorly cooked, not as shown on the menu and served by generally disinterested young staff who looked bored or knew nothing about the food. Not what you expect for a £20 main course! Worse than 7 years ago. Hardly anyone was eating in the restaurant. Noisy presence of pub restaurant joined to hotel.
Review 27:2 well appointed rooms, large, clean and comfortable, redecorated to a high standard but keeping character of hotel. Liked the 2 armchairs and table in window Wonderful position of hotel on beach. Excellent breakfast served by knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff who could teach the evening restaurant staff a few things. Powerful shower.
Review 28:Poor wifi reception but that is not the hotel's fault.
Review 29:The location is superb and the staff were very helpful over arrangements for our family tea party. It is becoming an annual event!
Review 30:The weather. It rained pretty much the whole time I was there and as it was a very short stay, it did spoil things.
Review 31:I partr liked the pub, with terrace, attached to the hotel. And the hotel being right on the beach was a very nice surprise. Shame about the weather though.
Review 32:Paying extra for certain breakfast items. More exciting menu choices needed celebrating the local produce including the great seafood.
Review 33:Lovely position, easy parking, comfortable, stunning view.
Review 34:I recall that my key card did not work on one occasion and has to be re-loaded, re-aligned.
Review 35:A really comfortable, luxurious and friendly hotel. Best in the area.
Review 36:Had my elderly mother with us problem with the lift not going to our floor
Review 37:Lovely rooms, very comfortable, very good breakfast but we had our evening meal in the pub adjacent to the hotel, very good
Review 38:The food was excellent, and the options of where to eat were good as well. The room was clean and comfortable, and the facilities were very good from wifi to hot water, and the carpark was easy to park in
Review 39:Nothing.
Review 40:A very comfortable hotel. Lovely location. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the all weather conservatory. Great breakfast and good service. Internet a problem as poor signal in this area.
Review 41:There's was nothing I didn't like really , if I was being picky , I wud say the room was quite hot , I always had to leave window open .
Review 42:Me and my fiancée went fo this lovely hotel with amazing views and couldn't fault anything , everything was clean , great service by staff and it was a very comfortable place to stay .
Review 43:The only down size was the room was really hot on the first night there was a fan, however it didn't make much difference.
Review 44:Having been going to Hunstanton for a few years, we managed to get a room, the hotel didn't disappoint. The room was really lovely we were at the back of the hotel, bed was big and really comfy,
Review 45:The receptionist, on the phone on arrival failed to acknowledge our presence. The shower went scalding hot half way through, and the shower head fell on my head. The receptionist didn't seem overly concerned. No wifi password offered, wasn't in the room or written on the residents card.
Review 46:The room, the views, the breakfast, and most of the staff were very pleasant.
Review 47:Hotel is a fair distance from centre of Hunstanton itself, but this makes for a quiet relaxing environment.
Review 48:Smart hotel with good facilities - a large and comfortable room with bathroom was as expected. Good meals in the Oak Bar, delivered by helpful and friendly staff. Location on the cliff top at Old Hunstanton is glorious.
Review 49:What a pity we were only here for one night. A beautiful hotel with its own restauarant and pub, so no need too venture far unless we chose to. We were upgraded to a suite, which fortunately for us was the best one in the hotel with a fabulous sea view. Our evning meal in the restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast in the conservatory. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We can't wait to visit again!
Review 50:Staff not always friendly. Breakfast seemed disorganised on more than one morning with stressed staff, pastries and fruit running out and not being re-filled very quickly.
Review 51:Excellent wifi throughout. Excellent food. Great location.
Review 52:Unfortunately, my breakfast, smoked haddock was over cooked. I did tell the waiter but no apology was forthcoming.
Review 53:The location overlooking the sea was lovely. A short walk through the grounds to the sand dunes and sandy beach was a bonus. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Very good facilities in the room which was very comfortable. Over all the food was excellent.
Review 54:Location of hotel, beach just a short walk away, peaceful setting. Home from Home, Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast overlooking the sea, marvellous! Immaculate linens in bedrooms and dining areas.
Review 55:After a previous visit we were looking forward to the Sunday roast beef but we were very disappointed with this one meal.
Review 56:The breakfast was excellent, the service from the staff in the restaurant was great. The hotel's very spacious bar area and lounge with a glass walled extension which faces west is excellent in the evenings to catch the sunset.
Review 57:The shower in room 119 was appalling .. had to gauge the hot and cold water until required temperature reached .. start to shower .. suddenly freezing .. continued to do this every shower I took .. water gushed out like a hose pipe .. terrible! Noises of rushing water .. humming .. flushing toilets early hours! Hotel had a large group staying who took over the lounge, conservatory and breakfast room .. staff should inform other guest when this is the case .. there was no chance of a quiet evening in the lounge or conservatory either night that we stayed .. we were made to wait for our breakfast one morning whilst tables were re-set .. fine .. gave our order only to watch others who arrived after us served first and definitely 'fussed' over! We didn't stay our three nights booked .. left after two!
Review 58:Excellent room with a sea view .. very comfortable bed .. very clean .. friendly staff .. lovely breakfast .. and the location is second to none!
Review 59:That our room looked onto the back of the kitchen and we were getting kitchen smells in our room.
Review 60:The staff always looked and sounded as if they actual enjoyed there job and providing a professional service.
Review 61:Just couldn't get the free wifi. Would have liked some cheaper light bite bar food. Like jacket potatoes etc.
Review 62:Location great. Very clean, comfortable, and staff all helpful. Bathroom and room lovely with a sea view..Would definitely stay again.
Review 63:pillows poor quality, shower head wrong for fitting, hence power washed the bathroom. Breakfast , we ordered full english, but hash browns, fried bread & baked beans extras which was not pointed out to us first time visitors.my wife had a plate full of tomatoes, both of us no mushrooms. not what we would call a full english breakfast. what we did recieve was of good quality.
Review 64:meals in the hotel pricey but nice quality, food from pub next door very reasonable same quality coming from same kitchen! room was a joy, lovely view, plenty of tea's & coffees in room.any issues dealt with quickly. staff very attentive.
Review 65:It was a little noisy with doors slamming.
Review 66:The sea view from the restaurant was fantastic and at night with the sun setting was amazing. The room was very comfortable and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
Review 67:Have used this hotel previously and once again we had a free upgrade (both trips were in March so probably wouldn't get this during peak season). The location is fab with some sea views and the beach is less than a minute away. The reception staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming as well as polite. The waiting staff in the breakfast room weren't quite so polite and a smile probably wouldn't have gone a miss but service was fine other than that.
Review 68:Excellent staff that can't be praised enough - always smiling, very helpful and deliver great customer service. Delicious breakfasts brought to room for a small additional charge. Hotel only steps away from the seafront. Hotel owned Ancient Mariner pub next door was ideal for drinks and food.
Review 69:Breakfast tinned fruit ? very 1970s I travel a lot due to work and found the cooked Breakfast good, But to offer tinned fruit very poor and something i have not seen even in the budget motels and felt your Hotel deserved better
Review 70:Hotel Location, friendly helpful reception staf and a very nice room A good quality Hotel and We would stay again No Problem
Review 71:Bathroom door did not shut - but reported on checkout and were assured it would be mended.
Review 72:Sea view and comfortable room. Excellent food from variety of choices of bars/restaurants. Staff very helpful
Review 73:We couldn't fault anything at all!
Review 74:Staff very welcoming and friendly, especially at breakfast. Very nice Full English breakfast/other options. Superb sea view from conservatory. Lovely sea view room, very clean, excellent facilities - varieties of tea/hot drinks/biscuits in room. Excellent shower/bathroom facilities. Very good evening meals at 'Ancient Mariners' pub next door. Would definitely return!
Review 75:Nothing really.just would like the vegetables with the meals to be cooked for a little longer.
Review 76:This is a really great hotel, excellent rooms, friendly staff, good location for walking along the coast.
Review 77:Although we had been warned that the hotel hosted receptions I did not expect to be continually woken up by people going up and down the two sets of stairs with doors opposite my room 112 throughout the night. I did tell the receptionist on checking out and was told it was a masons do. Not too sure what that had to do with people continually using the stairs throughout the night! So a restful night wasn't!
Review 78:Room ok although small and very warm. Ancient mariner was nice. Good food. Good breakfast.
Review 79:Only one cosy chair. Sea view fine if one wanted to stand up all the time.
Review 80:Breakfast was to die for - excellent value. Selection of tea bags - enough quantity, not just four and four milks. If you like walking in the sand wonderful.
Review 81:There was nothing to dislike
Review 82:The ambiance at the hotel was first class, a nice warm place on a very cold wintery night. Staff equally warm and friendly, with the room upgraded to provide us with a better sea view. All good
Review 83:Leaving !!!
Review 84:Location. Check in. Room. Bathroom. Wi-Fi. Free ample parking. Breakfast room and choice. Plenty seats in bar and conservatory. Great pub next door.
Review 85:The mobile connections are rubbish but I guess it isn't the hotels fault.Wi fi is poor too.
Review 86:the views amazing especially is you have a sea view. The staff are lovely . rooms good never had a bad one . beds huge and so comfy.
Review 87:Wi-fi was patchy: could not connect on second day. But that was all.
Review 88:Location on beach; conservatory restaurant and bar; quality of dinner and breakfast was good; good car parking and adjacent bus stop. Comfortable bedroom with both bath and shower. Enough chairs in room.
Review 89:Nothing
Review 90:Perfect location overlooking beach, room/bathroom very clean, quiet and comfortable, polite and friendly staff, delicious breakfast, lots of parking space.
Review 91:Difficult to find anything, although the meal we had in the Mariners Arms belonging to the hotel was a bit poor, not very good value for the price, exceptionally disappointing.
Review 92:the hotel is perfectly placed for a winter visit to Hunstanton and the area. The staff are superb.
Review 93:Cold bathroom. Thin walls.
Review 94:Positioned directly behind the sand dunes with a fabulous sea view frim the bedroom and bathroom. Exceptionally good staff.
Review 95:As returning customers to Le Strange we were disappointed this time round. We requested a quiet room but this was obviously ignored by the Hotel as our room was situated almost directly above a Wedding Disco. We were not given advance warning that there was going to be a function on that night either.
Review 96:Good breakfast and comfortable room.
Review 97:Room was a bit dated but I guess it all adds to the character
Review 98:Hotel full of character and very cosy and inviting. All very clean with very friendly staff. Had a lovely steak meal in the evening followed by a hearty full English in the morning and walked it all off with a bracing walk along the lovely beach which is a hundred yards away. Batteries now fully charged again.
Review 99:My room was near the stairs on the 2nd floor, but could hear staff talking quite loudly in reception as they came on duty early morning - not the wake up call I really wanted!
Review 100:Good value, helpful staff, excellent choice at breakfast, lovely comfortable bedroom
Review 101:The food was generally good apart from the Seafood St Jacques. Seafood was missing apart from 2 minute scallops and the sauce was like wallpaper paste!
Review 102:Excellent and friendly staff, good location. Particularly liked sitting in front of the fire with a drink pre and post dinner.
Review 103:Fantastic location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Was a bit chilly when we arrived as the weather had turned suddenly. Within minutes of mentioning this an extra heater was provided. Great stay and will certainly book again. The value for money was outstanding.
Review 104:Our only dislike was that we would have prefered our evening meal vegetable's cooked a bit more. Everything else was excellent.
Review 105:Ideal location for never ending beach walk's or starting off your day taking in the sea view while eating breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the sea .Food was very good throughout our two day stay. Our room was very cosy with the most comfortable bed's we have had for quite some time.
Review 106:The setting is lovely by the beach and only a short drive to Old Hunstanton. The staff were attentive and friendly. Our meal in the restaurant was suberb.
Review 107:No dislikes other than had to go home at end of stay
Review 108:From being greeted at Reception all through our stay we were made to feel special. The whole place is 4**** and it shows. The room was large, spotlessly clean and comfortable.
Review 109:The heating could have been turned down a bit at night as the weather was balmy and it was too hot to sleep with th heating up. Also, charming as the staff mainly tried to be, the younger ones really need much more training and are quite unprofessional at times. The Reception staff are excellent. The food was adequate but not exceptional. Could be better for the price.
Review 110:This is an older property and the bedrooms are of a good size - a little old fashioned but roomy and clean.
Review 111:They forgot my news papers on both days but to somebody's credit collected them from the local news agent within a matter of minutes. Crisis averted, ha ha.
Review 112:We have been before and always enjoyed our visits. Staff are friendly and efficient without being over attentive
Review 113:Am unable to think of anything.
Review 114:The location. The room overlooking the sea. The bed was enormous and so comfortable. The staff were very attentive. The food was excellent. Liked to look at all the pictures in the lounges, and learn about the history of the Hotel. Would definitely like to stay again in the future.
Review 115:On this stay we booked last minute which probably was the reason we had room 102. Husband had no problems but for me, lack of light from small window with view of walls and at night orange lights outside. Bathroom was all windows! I could not sleep for lack of air and it felt claustrophobic. Last visit had room with lots of widows. Room itself was well decorated, beautiful bed and furnishings. Will go again if lighter room!
Review 116:We love this hitel. Well situated and peaceful.
Review 117:My room only had a 3/4 double bed-no use for a couple. Window rattled all night long. Bathroom ok but not top quality. Linoleum floor-really? Plug sockets nearly out of the wall. Poor wifi in the bedroom.
Review 118:Views Great steak cooked to perfection Helpful cheerful staff
Review 119:our room was beautiful - the bed was made perfectly, lovely and clean, sparklingly clean bathroom, room looked out to sea, the staff were friendly professional and helpful, breakfast was excellent. We will be back again as soon as possible!
Review 120:Small staircases. Breakfast overcrowding. Room very hot.
Review 121:Excellent location. Efficient check in and departure. Bar open late. Good breakfast choices. Price reasonable.
Review 122:I had a v poor experience in your other eating area the bar, as it was my first time I asked what I need to do - choose a table no - then order your meal, I ordered my meal told staff my table no - turned round & a family had sat down at that table - I moved to another table seat for six - I mention to staff I shall go & get a drink from the bar, can someone clean the table, the bar was busy it must have been 10min - when I got back to the table it wasn't cleaned, I mention to staff , I shall move again this table had spillage - staff came over & cleared - then I waited for my meal & waited - staff new where is was - when it did arrive - I picked at it but it was so dry ( Chicken chips veg ) I could not eat it - they gave me a full refund & my drinks - not a good experience - I did not fancy anything after that.
Review 123:lovely relaxing tranquil - with the amazing weather - scenery - sunsets it was ideal for me
Review 124:no view of interest from the bedroom.
Review 125:The very comfortable bedroom and the excellent breakfast. I also liked the plentiful outside seating areas with good views.
Review 126:feels a little dated and the facilities are perhaps a bit limited
Review 127:wonderful location by the beautiful North Norfolk coast
Review 128:Staff could not do enough to help you.Food excellent-especially the breakfast yum yum
Review 129:Location is wonderful. A comfortable friendly hotel
Review 130:Everything, particularly helpfulness of the staff
Review 131:No negatives
Review 132:Lovely location, beautiful rooms in the hotel, very helpful staff
Review 133:Room was comfortable. Hotel offered good facilities. Good food. Staff friendly. Hotel positioned well.
Review 134:Fantastic location next to the beach and very peaceful. Comfortable and clean room.
Review 135:Friendly staff and clean rooms.
