Reviews for Inchree
Review 1:The location is just wonderful. The rooms are big and comfortable. There is a huge open-space kitchen available to clients. Also there is a pub where they serve great food and drinks.
Review 2:Great staff friendly and always available to answer questions. Facilities are excellent for a walking holiday (drying room, kitchen, large bedrooms)
Review 3:s not impressed when looked under the bed there was years of dust, the floors are a joke my garden shed is cleaner than there floors. The shower has no pressure what's so ever, guys next door came in early hours and started making a noise waking up my kids. I would not be back to that place again, when signing out at 10 o Clock there was no one there to report any of my issues. I would rather sleep in a tent in the car park rather stay in a filthy smelling lodge.
Review 4:The road out of the lodge.
Review 5:- it was wee cold when we arrived. But it's not a 5 stars hotel, so it's fine
Review 6:- the surroundings are incredible! - great restaurant/pub on ground
Review 7:Blinds on windows did not provide total coverage Heater very hot and there were cables etc lying across the heater
Review 8:Location Price Adjacent kitchen to prepare food with complimentary tea/coffee
Review 9:I stay here 3-4 times a year and have done so over many years and I love it. The staff are wonderful. Always friendly and helpful Im almost reluctant to review the place in case it becomes too popular and I cant get a booking next time
Review 10:Between 4 of us there were only two towels (one per room), the corridor leading to the room stank of bad cooking mixed with bleach, and in the room itself the air was very very moist (and also had the corridor smell). The mat next to the shower was more slippery than the floor, and it was the kind of place where even those who normally sleep naked would be rooting through their suitcase looking for something to wear to go to bed in. Driving towards the hotel we saw about 50 independent hotels, guesthouses or b&b's (not on booking.com): I suggest you google for one of those instead, or just risk it and drive down the main road south out of Fort William - you'll find a much nicer place than this, and if you can't then staying in your car is probably equally comfortable. I have stayed on a lot of sofas, beds, bunks and floors that were more comfortable than the one here. My wife checked the bedding to see if the yellow colour was a stain or just the natural colour of the bedding... we're still not sure. When we turned on the TV in the room there was a horror flick playing, which was appropriate because overall my impression was that if someone had wanted to film a British version of one of those American slasher movies where the bodies get dumped in seedy motels, this would be the perfect venue. The corridor smell could have definitely overpowered the stench of a rotting corpse in a room for at least a few days.
Review 11:The food was mediocre - nowhere near as bad as expected after seeing the rooms.
Review 12:One minor grump is the shower, though very hot the pressure is quite low
Review 13:Very friendly staff, nice bar and the food in the restaurant was 1st class. There is also a large kitchen/dining area where you could cook your own food (if you're to mean to pay at the restaurant) but this is very handy to make tea or coffee which is supplied free
Review 14:On arrival we were advised of an upgrade to a chalet - that always helps. It is located south of Fort William which was terrific. Views from Chalet stunning. Great to walk to hotel for dinner & a drink. Really enjoyed the set up. Staff efficient.
Review 15:Wifi only in the outside of the pub, the only thing
Review 16:Breakfast was great, the shared kitchen was really comfortable and it has beem a pleasure ti meet the other guests. Pub was open only to drink, beer was good
Review 17:A great value for money lodge that has both a fantastic restaurant and fully equipped kitchens for guests to use. Perfect for what I needed, will come again.
Review 18:toilet had obviously not been cleaned since there was dirty toilet paper in it when we arrived.comfortable bed but was the old bed linen clean after having seen the toilet ?Shabby room.No one to greet you on arrival. Staff too busy talking to a friend when we were booking out to take any notice of the fact I was leaving back the key. Moreover there wasnt even the courtesy of whether or not we had a good time there or was everything all right. Not asked what you want for breakfast-just comes as it is....take it or leave it !! Certainly nothing to recommend it.Certainly wouldnt stay there again.
Review 19:Just OK breakfast
Review 20:Friendly, convenient and a fun place to stay. We met some other interesting travellers while cooking our own dinner and had some lively conversations. Swapped stories about things to do and see in the area. Fun times!
Review 21:You can hear people talking in the room next door, so if you are a light sleeper, this is a drawback.
Review 22:Location is lovely, great for hiking and relaxing.
Review 23:The light in the bathroom was automatic, it was a little annoying at night when got up to use the loo.
Review 24:The kitchen was great! Very well equipped and super clean. Perfect to cook oneself a good breakfast before leaving.
Review 25:The most expensive coffee of our whole trip in Scotland (in the Four Seasons pub).
Review 26:Good value for the price. the shared kitchen is definitely a plus. Friendly staff.
Review 27:I booked the Inchree fairly last minute needing somewhere close to Fort William for a group of friends and I for the night prior to climbing Ben Nevis as part of the National Three Peaks Challenge. I didn't even check the reviews as we were just looking for somewhere to sleep for a night so for the price I wasn't expecting much. What we got was fabulous value for money! The room was a five bed family room. It would have actually slept six but they made up a double, two singles and the lower of the bunk beds for us. The bedding was clean and fresh, and the beds were very comfortable. The shower was electric which was vital with five women wanting to wash their hair! The water pressure wasn't amazing but it was adequate and the temperature was good. Most importantly the shower was clean and it was double width which was nice. There were two toilets with sinks which was great first thing in the morning and saved us some time. We arrived late at night due to bad traffic and this was no issue for the staff who were very helpful. There was also access to a communal kitchen which was clean and well stocked. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the on site pub due to our late arrival. The only issue I had was prior to our stay when I struggled to get hold of anyone on the phone numbers provided. I did eventually though and they were friendly and helpful when I spoke to them. They even allowed us to check out 30 minutes late at no extra cost as our plans had changed. All in all, very impressed and would definitely stay again if walking in the area.
Review 28:The wildlife, the migies where out in full force but not in the room, and the big red stag that almost made me come off my bike, other then that the room and location where spot on
Review 29:The staff where helpful telling me where I could go for my tea, how quite the whole place was, no sound of traffic or nothing
Review 30:Bathroom was a bit dirty, no wifi in room (and most phones didn't have signal)
Review 31:Comfy beds, clean shower room and bedroom. Common kitchen and laundry room are very useful.
Review 32:The lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim.
Review 33:Staff was very helpful. I ended up arriving past check-in (2300), and they made sure that I would still be able to get into my room. The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel grounds were also very well kept.
Review 34:Nothing I didn't like about it.
Review 35:Onich s/c was very comfortable. And clean. Had access to kitchen and room had ensuite. There was a bar and Resturant on site which was great. Would go back
Review 36:i wouldnt say it was a bad experiance, but meals are very limited to day travelers/passing trade, meal prices were a bit high eg £7+ for a full breakfast, after breakfast next meal was not till after 6pm.,we had all our meals in fortwilliam for less than 1/2 the price.
Review 37:accomodation was easy to find, room was neat, clean and tydy .towels and soap were provided,we did not expect a tv in the room which was great.overall good value for money.
Review 38:Just about everything. It was a pretty run down, grungy, "I think I should wear shoes in the shower" kind of place.
Review 39:The staff was friendly and kind.
Review 40:We wished the wifi would reach to the accommodation...
Review 41:I thought I had booked a room for 5 of us....but discovered to our delight, that we had a whole chalet!
Review 42:Beds were not that comfortable Shower light on automatic timer kept going off whilst in bathroom
Review 43:Lovely location Great restaurant as part of hotel Staff were friendly and welcoming Plenty of parking
Review 44:Some people may find it is a little cramped, with quite small rooms and close proximity of other quests, a bit like a hostel set-up. Personally for the price, one night stay and being able to prepare your own breakfast, it was ideal for our purposes.
Review 45:Great location. Very clean. Shared kitchen ideal for doing your own breakfast if you need to leave early or just want something simple to eat. Very good TV and mobile reception in room. Good pub on-site so you don't need to drive for a meal out. Would rather stay out here than in the over-priced tourist trap that Fort William has become in recent years.
Review 46:Wifi only at bar area. A little far from the town area.
Review 47:We stayed in the 6-berth family room which were spacious and clean. Facilities (e.g. toilet, bathroom, communal kitchen) were complete and in good condition.
Review 48:It was more suited to backpackers the building where we slept was noisy at night with people doing late food and late socialising
Review 49:The food in the adjoining pub was good
Review 50:Very nice spot for a three-night stay. The pub/restaurant on site is excellent and some good walks nearby. Very close to the Corran Ferry - worth a trip for great views and lovely pub on the other side of the loch.
Review 51:Wifi just available in the Pub next door. A lot of midges outside the building.
Review 52:The kitchen was clean and big enough for several people. Cooking facilities were available. Room was clean and appropriate. Good location to climb Ben Nevis.
Review 53:Breakfast had obviously been pre-cooked and heated up as the bacon was rock hard, as were the fried eggs.
Review 54:Ideal for hikers, cyclists and walkers. Fairly basic accommodation but did what we needed.
Review 55:With out advise, the hotel didn't have the room we have booked available and moved us to an other hotel of the village. Cheaper but also less confortable.
Review 56:WiFi only accessible from restaurant (main area) not in rooms.
Review 57:Spacious, comfortable rooms and kitchen. Easy access to Glencoe and other towns. Peaceful for sleeping at night.Quiet location. Plenty of trails in the area.
Review 58:No Wifi in rooms, and la patchy WiFi in public areas. Staff seem very distracted. Lights in toilets are a bit dim, and run on sensors. It sometimes turn off when you're inside!
Review 59:Good location, with plenty of space for parking. Large, clean self-catering kitchen to share with other lodgers. Lovely, spacious rooms, with a TV. Very cosy beds, and the pillows are so comfortable! Had one of the best sleeps of my life here!
Review 60:Lots of midges but not much can be done about that haha.
Review 61:Location was perfect for us getting to Ben Nevis. Good size room and a great bar area and good food.
Review 62:We were very disappointed that we couldn't get an evening meal in the restaurant. Having travelled for over 3 hours with our 10 month old baby we really couldn't face putting him back into the car to travel the 8 miles back to Fort William so we ended up not being able to have an evening meal at all. The restaurant closure would be understandable during off season but our visit was on 30th June.
Review 63:For the money we paid, the room was good. We were pleased that the shared kitchen had communal supplies such as milk, bread, cereal etc.
Review 64:the free wifi wasn't working int the room, only in the bar, but it's OK
Review 65:the bed was comfortable the stuff was very kind the meals were like local taste
Review 66:The room had 2 toilets and a separate shower but despite a large hall area the toilet rooms were small and awkward to get into.
Review 67:The coded door entry made life easy for 5 people coming and going. Beds were comfy and there was a good amount of space in the room and in the hall area. Did not use the kitchen or drying room so can't comment on those but both were available.
Review 68:the only downside was we had to go home after a week
Review 69:we found the staff very friendly and helpful. the food was excellent good enough to keep us returning each night for the weeks stay. its Ideally located for exploring the west coast
Review 70:By chance, my father and I were upgraded from a double room to a 2 bedroom chalet with an incredible view. The beds were comfy and the staff were friendly, also the evening meal we had was lovely!
Review 71:Entrance with bathroom and toilet a bit cold (only a small heater in the entrance) - Shower not easy to managed (too hot or too cold...)
Review 72:Room for 6 - clean and comfortable. Kitchen really well furnish and nice to use.
Review 73:Breakfast was a bit expensive.
Review 74:rooms were great for groups of friends or family. Clean, comfy beds, nice pub, great kitchen if you want to cook your own food or have a cup of tea.
Review 75:In general no complaints, although it would be a bonus if the staff can recommend places to go to.
Review 76:Really like the location of Inchree and the property is very equipped with both cooking and washing facilities. Most of all the room is really comfortable and just right for even a big group of six people!
Review 77:Like so many places in the UK (and elsewhere), there were annoying complications with the hot water, plumbing, room heating, and all associated services, including TV reception. They are old-fashioned, not particularly efficient, and not necessarily easy to understand and use - if you're only staying a night or two. Electricity, heating, and plumbing need to be looked at closely, and all updated. Free WiFi available only down at the Pub, not in the chalet this was fairly inconvenient as well.
Review 78:Chalet spaciousness. Good value for money. Rural location and loch view. Pub and Restaurant on the property.
Review 79:Having a large kitchen to ourselves. There was no one else there. The hotel is in an isolated small community but the location was fine for day trips to Fort William and nearby Highland towns
Review 80:No hot water in the kitchen (for washing up); shower-room light turned off automatically (often in the middle of having a shower), tv screen was a bit small; whole bathroom/toilet area could have been better laid out; quite noisy as the main road was close by; walls were quite thin so could hear next door's kids
Review 81:Comfy, clean beds; warm room; hot shower; plenty of equipment in the kitchen; towels were provided; good value
Review 82:Warm, clean, can self cater or eat at restaurant bar, laundry, nice friendly staff and really good staging post for Ardnamurchan Peninsula and other rugged coastline drives and walks
Review 83:WiFi was limited to public areas, so no access within the room, room facilities regarding the shower was poor as the water trickled out with no pressure, sink was small which proposed difficulty to operate heavy beauty regime.
Review 84:Restaurant and Pub facilities were fantastic great food and drink, stayed in room 11 which was quiet and away from the other rooms although had no view, which we asked for. Comfortable bed and large room with TV, the location was ok due to the closeness of Fort William and plenty of parking at site.
Review 85:No internet! However we could use wi fi in the restaurant!
Review 86:The rooms are very clean. The kitchen has everything you want. The location is also very good.
Review 87:Internet does not work in the rooms.
Review 88:View beautiful scenery. Comfortable family room with heater and two bathrooms. Located in the mountains and just a few miles from the fort Willans.
Review 89:The double mattress in the chalet was pretty horrific so we considered taking a single bed each! But we got back late each night and up early each morning to explore so it didn't better too much. The chalets are a bit depressing but ideal as a base. The bar could do with some sofas or comfier seating, but otherwise a nice place place to sit and eat.
Review 90:The food was much better than other comments suggested. Simple, but really fresh and vegetables cooked to perfection. The staff were lovely, theres plenty of parking, and a lovely open fire.
Review 91:Tv did not work but not really their fault due to storms It is not luxury but for price it is good
Review 92:Variety of room / bed combinations. With 4 kids that is very welcome. The breakfast was hearty
Review 93:Noise really travels when you're in your room. A group of people came back about 12pm and woke us up. They may as well have been in our room with us. No consideration for anyone else. Not at all inchree's fault I know because they cannot be responsible for other people's ignorance but that would be my only negative.
Review 94:The breakfast was amazing. Big cooked breakfast for about £6 and you got free cearel, toast, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee with it too. Good kitchen facilities. Good location, near to fort William. Cosy and warm room. Drying room. Good quality meals if you want to eat there.
Review 95:Although staying alone on business noted price was same for two sharing making it very reasonable self catering accommodation. Kitchen very well appointed and clean. Complimentary tea and coffee a nice touch as were all the condiments and selection of breakfast cereal.
Review 96:Location, just 20 mins from Fort William, easy access to lots of walks, train station. Great views. A Frame chalet accom perfect for short stay self catering but with pub and restaurant on site if required.
Review 97:We recommend a quick shower unless you have a ninja skills - the light can turn off after a while (motion sensor). We found it rather funny than annoying!
Review 98:Staff was amazing!! They gave us a lot of tips of what to see in the region! In the nearby pub you can drink quite wide range of whisky and good beers!
Review 99:No wifi in rooms. You have to go outside, sometimes in the cold. The bathroom light, lighs up with sensor only. When in the shower we had to get out of the shower often in order to have the lights on again.
Review 100:The surrounding is really lovely, but if you're not going to drive, it's far from the center. Very clean & the pub was lovely.
Review 101:- no Wi-Fi in the rooms; you have to move to the pub (that is a separate building)
Review 102:- the hotel is in the nowhere - it seems a mountain refuge - very cheap
Review 103:We had a family room with 5 beds. The room was big and comfortable. The hotel is infront of fields with horses in a rural area very close to the road for going to the village. The restaurant is good.
Review 104:Staff very helpful and polite, pub on premises which serves good food, big plus for hikers is the Glencoe range and Ben Nevis on the door step, has drying room and shared kitchen for those wanting to cook there own food which has every thing you need. would stay there again.
Review 105:The mattresses were well used and springy/hard, not the pillowtop we are used to. No soap/ shampoo furnished. The room was clean, but worn.
Review 106:Staff friendly, restaurant next door was delicious. Great for families because we didn't need several rooms. The WC and showers were in separate rooms and there were two WC's in the room making getting ready for our group much easier. Rooms large
Review 107:Inchree is not really a hotel or a B&B but offers several categories of accommodation in its complex. But the real plus is the pub located on the premises which serves excellent meals at reasonable prices. The location is also a real plus, as it is a gateway to the Glencoe area, much closer to that attraction than Fort William, which is where most people stay as it has more accommodations but also a lot more traffic.
Review 108:Given we were there during the remnants hurricane Brenda it would have been nice to have had wifi in thee lounge/kitchen area of the rooms. However the wifi over in the pub worked well.
Review 109:Its location puts it close to Glencoe as well as Fort William
Review 110:Room smelled musty and the shower was odd, but doable. The noise at night with people coming in was a problem sleep-wise, but that can't be helped.
Review 111:Laundry facilities, beautiful location, friendly staff. The hotel is mostly for hikers, so is geared for "outdoorsy" people. Drying room, rustic, basic rooms and shared kitchen.
Review 112:Make sure you book a table for dinner. We didn't realise we needed to and weren't advised of this when we arrived. Breakfast pretty basic, and the coffee dire.
Review 113:Lovely spot, convenient for ferry. Friendly staff. Great dinner in the pub.
Review 114:Basic equipment of the lodge Distance from Fort William (no supermarket in immediate vicinity)
Review 115:Very good location for walks in mountains in the Ben Nevis area Pub for breakfast and dinners
Review 116:It would be difficult to stay here without a car.
Review 117:This is a great place to explore the Highlands from. There are so many interesting and beautiful places within a short driving distance. Having a kitchen and use of a fridge was wonderful and convenient. The room was big, and having 2 separate toilets and a shower was great. The bar and restaurant was very nice to relax in, and meet other travelers.
Review 118:noisy neighbours who burned their supper (my room was next to the communal kitchen) and opened the windows so all their cooking smells blew into my room
Review 119:convenience
Review 120:You only had one vegy meal choice, & would not even stick an egg & chips together when we asked, even though all the other meals had chips with them, we were told you didn't have time to put an egg in.!!!!
Review 121:Location was great , food reasonable ,accomadation fantastic for price.
Review 122:small variety of food options
Review 123:was travelling with a friend on motorbikes. fantastic area to stay. facilities great with good size drying room. we stayed in a twin room and found it spacious. great value for money
Review 124:We had to check in at the pub. We weren't provided with any information about the facility. The lock on our door was broken, we learned that they knew about it but hadn't fixed it. No wifi in the rooms which were not much more than a dorm. There was a commotion in the hall way in the middle of the night which woke us (with a chair pushed against our unlocked door). The police were called. No attempt to compensate for our inconvenience. At dinner, which we had to reserve, we waited an hour for our starters, and nearly two before we got dinner. The beautiful horses, which were just outside our room were "protected" from us by an electric fence. We didn't see the walking trails until we were leaving, and it would have been a beautiful location to hike and explore.
Review 125:It is quite remote. There seemed to be walking trails everywhere and it was quite beautiful thee.
Review 126:This was a simple, no-frills motel-like accommodation. A big kitchen for the residents' use and drying room for clothing are good for trekkers. Friendly staff.
Review 127:Food in the pub was expensive for what you got.drinks also expensive.
Review 128:Rooms were ok nothing special ,had use of kitchen for doing your own breakfast which was clean.
Review 129:Nothing
Review 130:If you are going hiking on the mountains, this is just the place. A full kitchen to share, tea always there for you in room, pub 50 feet away. What more could you need? We loved the pub, excellent salmon.
Review 131:I thought that the place was more like a cheap bunkhouse and was lacking all creature comforts like soap and the carpets were in need of a service. The Resturant prices did not fit the budget accomodation and that balance was way out There were no information leaflets of what where and how when in Fort William and think that some work could be done to improve on these things
Review 132:I liked the position in relation to the town and surrounding area I am visiting from Australia and the weather was just great but I think that there are a few things that could be looked at to improve
