Reviews for West Park

Review 1:It's bathroom was really lacking. No tile on the open shower, drain in the middle of the bathroom floor but it was clean.

Review 2:More like a youth hostel with it's own bath than a hotel like room. Basics only.

Review 3:Small tv. Noise from bottles going in bin around midnight. Noise from linen trolleys around 1.30am.

Review 4:We booked online five minutes before we arrived. We had been travelling for 20 hours and were shattered. Receptionist on arrival was very welcoming.

Review 5:Only issue is that the mattress was a bit hard - definitely needs a topper!

Review 6:Nice area, very quiet and pleasant. Lovely room - clean and cosy. Best for people travelling by car, as it is some distance from the city centre. Would recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Review 7:didt like the fact i was in student accomdation .!!!! was not aware it was !!! would not use this hotel/ hostel again . paid fot two nights only stayed one night !! i will e mail my complaint to your head office tom .

Review 8:breakfast was really good except on a conference day when it was hell on wheels 15 minute walk for evening meal in town but this wasnt too bad really

Review 9:really friendly lady in the breakfast room nice campus quiet and private

Review 10:Soundproofing not too good, could easily hear what the guests in the next room were noisily getting up to!! Not the worst thing that could happen though.

Review 11:Friendly, helpful staff and great breakfast set up. Quiet location and not too far from restaurants for dinner.

Review 12:Phone Signal was really bad in my room.

Review 13:The staff were very friendly and i would like to pass on my huge thanks to the house keeping and the reception staff who dealt with my envelope with reservations written on it, that i carelessly left in my room in villa 2 number 31 which had important train tickets in it, i would have been lost if it wasn't for their professionalism and kindness in returning this to me.

Review 14:Dour student-accommodation rooms with spartan bathroom facilities. No on-site restaurants for evening meals

Review 15:Excellent Scottish breakfast served with a lovely smile

Review 16:nice staff, nice and clean room, Internet connection, en-suite facilities, excellent and big breakfast for £ 8.50, 10 minutes by bus from the centre of Dundee (not really worth visiting after 6pm).

Review 17:Chair in room had several very long (female?) hairs in various parts, raising questions about cleaning but everything else seemed ok. Very overpriced at £47 with no breakfast included (only stayed because I was travelling with a friend who'd already booked in). Didn't have breakfast - far too expensive as in 3x the cost of Wetherspoons, an option in the town centre.

Review 18:Comfortable room TV Bed Quiet

Review 19:Old rooms, terrible smell, motel quality showers. I couldn't even take my shoes off because the floor was dirty and also shower room old and not clean

Review 20:The location is good and the exterior part of the hotel looks nice

Review 21:walking distance to our villa was a while away with luggage it was a trek, mould on the bathroom roof, floor was gritty, have to rent a hairdryer for £10, bed was uncomfortable, safe didn't work

Review 22:it looked modern on the outside, well kept grounds

Review 23:The milk left for tea/coffee was open and out of date. The bed was not the comfiest - very solid. The walls were very thin, could hear conversations through the walls. No noise reduction from outside even when closing the windows. I had very little sleep due to the drunkards both arguing and running up and down the car park at the back of the hotel for several hours overnight.

Review 24:Front of staff was lovely. The room was sufficient enough.

Review 25:everything ,strange layout ,poor rooms I felt like I was in military accommodation not clean and I wouldn't stay there again for half the price

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:none at all

Review 28:everything everyone was so friendly polite rooms so well cleaned breakfast excellent plenty car parking hotel close to shops bus routes beautiful hotel I will stay there again

Review 29:Quote from one of the people who stayed . It's fair to say this isn't a hotel it's empty student flats. Stinks of damp, bathroom has mold and bed springs you could screw your self to. Other than that breakfast if booked is about 500m away. Every price of wood is sticky. No irons, 1 towel the size of a hanky and no heating freezing cold. Bathroom is a health hazard. Whoever booked these should stay here to sample... Not exactly what you want after 5hrs traveling.

Review 30:Leaving

Review 31:The rooms aren't particularly sound-proofed, so when the room next door started giggling like harpies at 6am, I was awake. I stayed here for three weeks. There doesn't seem to be any communal cooking facilities available (they lock the communal student kitchen - access to a microwave would have been fantastic) and I grew a bit tired of the limited repertoire of food you can cook in a kettle (Turns out Kohinoor boil in the bag curries are the answer). There are no shops closer than 10-15 minutes walk (although there is a large Tesco 5 mins drive).

Review 32:Close enough to everything (University/Centre of town) to be walkable, but very quiet at night. The shower was great. Everything was really clean. Massive desk and comfy office chair much appreciated. Reception staff and cleaning staff were really friendly.

Review 33:We stayed a couple of nights. I would have liked a longer bed. It was a small room.

Review 34:A perfectly adequate room for the price. Good amount of parking. Quiet.

Review 35:The shower trickled hot and cold and then blasted itself out of the holder. We were told to be out by 10 but other travellers asked at reception were told 12.

Review 36:West Park didn't have the feel of a hotel. Our room was quite small, and whilst clean, slightly smelly and lacked the "comfort touches" a normal hotel would offer - it is obvious they are used for student accommodation during term time - however for the price we paid, acceptable I guess. The bed was small and quite uncomfortable

Review 37:Excellent value for money 2 night stay - considering we were using the property to go to The Open Golf Championships at nearby St. Andrews. The staff were helpful and friendly!!

Review 38:Room was very small and the buildings were very clinical, no warmth to the place and it had a negative vibe. The smallest TV we have ever seen! We didn't enjoy our stay.

Review 39:Value for money, not too far a drive from St Andrews and the laundry was a bonus.

Review 40:A very compact room, with access to the bed from one side only as it is wedged against a wall. poor lighting. Whilst the room had clearly been cleaned, it was grubby (marks on the walls, stained silicone in the bathroom) The free wifi is monitored and filtered so heavily i couldn't work properly.

Review 41:it was reasonably priced and available during graduation week.

Review 42:Uncomfortable bed. Lousy pillows. Noisy - who thinks breakfast from 4.30 is a good idea? Cheap breakfast ingredients - no choice of eggs - scrambled only.

Review 43:I really appreciated that when calling the hotel with our vehicles that would be coming, they sectioned off part of their car park for us. We will definitely be using this hotel again when business requires!

Review 44:the mattress was horribly lumpy and uncomfortable! neither of us got a good sleep on either night. terrible bed!

Review 45:really cool room. good value for money.

Review 46:Our room had a decent view of River Tay. Accommodation had good security system & good car parking. Flats located in wooded gardens providing pleasant 5 min walk to main dining area.

Review 47:I hadn't realised this was used as student accommodation. Very basic, clean enough however I stayed for 2 nights and although hand towels were changed, bath towels were not.

Review 48:Location was very good

Review 49:Every single thing. Not even a "how was your stay at our hotel" at the checkout.

Review 50:Nothing really was good. There is no bar, breakfast from only 7 to 9hrs with low quality options for almost 9 pounds. The room was a small wooden box, a desk with a tiny TV plenty of cables and more than 1/4 of the bathroom becomes a shower area. It feels like a sauna-prison place. Never again.

Review 51:There is no hairdryer. There is no cubical for the shower, the shower and bathroom are joint together separated only by a curtain. Therefore, after you have a shower the whole room gets wet.

Review 52:Good location. Comfortable bed. Everything nice a clean. Teas and coffees in the room.

Review 53:the hotel is actually a student's dorm. sometimes it got loud. breakfast not included in room rate. not recommended for couples with children the room wasn't cleaned for 3 days of our stay

Review 54:good rate deal 106gbp for 3 nights good location if traveling by car

Review 55:We found the bed a bit uncomfortable but otherwise all was good. The breakfast felt expensive given what was on offer.

Review 56:Excellent value, friendly staff, accommodation has character, good free parking.

Review 57:Rubbish bins still full Bed springs gone and lumpy Nothing in close proximity Unable to open window fully, so hot Glad to leave Overpriced , would be ok for £25 per night

Review 58:Room was a bit dusty. No housekeeping went into room the first morning after we stayed the day/night before. Ordered a taxi through reception for following morning, when it never arrived went back to reception & was told there was no record of it ever being ordered. I'd recommend double checking or waiting at reception till they phone if anyone ever needs a taxi booked. 2nd receptionist was very appoligetic & helpful, taxi arrived minutes after being phoned, so luckily we were still able to catch train. Nothing major that we didn't like, would go back & stay again, and would reccomend this hotel.

Review 59:Bed was perfectly comfy, was against one side of wall, but easy to move so we could use both sides. Staff were friendly & helpful. Great location, bus stops just a 5 minute walk from hotel, with regular bus service.

Review 60:I appreciate that the doors have to be heavy for fire and sound proofing but it made it very difficult to get in and out, especially for my daughter who was on crutches.

Review 61:No bath just a walk in shower, which was covered in mould. Bed uncomfortable and OLD. Tea and Coffee tasted awful, no bar or dinner available, room was horrible and the whole place in in desperate need of a face lift and bringing up to date especially charging what they do!

Review 62:Nothing!

Review 63:Small room with uncomfortable bed. Overlooked by other rooms..

Review 64:Was in quiet residential area. And within 30 minute walk to venue I was visiting for weekend..

Review 65:The smoke alarm had no cover outside on the balcony cables in water, workers literally outside the doors, no warning that this would happen, room was uncomfortably warm with a thick doona to use, mattress was not comfortable, pillows the same. Food was mediocre

Review 66:Accused by manager of being naked and having curtains open when in fact he had the wrong room!!!!!! bathroom facilities shower soaked towels as just runs out onto bathroom floor as no separate cubicle!!!!! Would never stay here again

Review 67:It's quite basic as one would expect from student halls. If you can afford it you might prefer a proper hotel. Also, the car park is right next to some of the rooms, so I was awoken very early by a noisy diesel car! Not impressed.

Review 68:Good value for money. Close to city centre. Easy parking. Convenient, en suite rooms with a tv!

Review 69:Not clear from booking .com that this is student accomodation, £82 per night is expensive. Excessive noise from people staying next door, complained. Room is cramped. Overpriced.

Review 70:On complaining, staff were helpful, changed my room

Review 71:From checking in the staff were really friendly and helpful, the building felt very secure and is incredibly central being a 10-15 minutes walk to town! Was also very quiet and relaxing and had the basics like a good shower and a decent tv too. Very very good and would book again!

Review 72:There was nothing nice about this hotel the rooms were dark and cold feeling to them the bed was horrible all we could feel was the springs through the mattress did not sleep at all

Review 73:Had to hire a hair drier but not that much of a problem. £10 deposit and that was it.

Review 74:Very friendly staff, especially Deborah, who started our day off with a smile and couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. Rooms were basic but adequate and cleaned every day. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Review 75:The room was small and double bed was up against the wall. The TV was tiny and the whole facility didn't seem very secure. Windows didn't shut properly and the building doors were open even though they are supposed to be locked. The whole facility needs refurbishment.

Review 76:Price was reasonable

Review 77:I booked via booking.com and the search was for 2 adults and 2 children. I contacted them via email to ensure a cot was available when I was advised that the room was too small and I would have to purchase an adjoining room for an extra £35 a night. When we got there it was completely unsuitable for a family. As we arrived at midnight we stayed until the morning and checked out only to have to argue to get 2 nights refunded out of 5 nights booked, staying only 1. Ruined the start of our holiday and was only rescued by the excellent Invercase Hotel on the same road.

Review 78:The way the accommodation was divided up into rooms in flats and blocks.

Review 79:Location was good for us as we were visiting with family. Accommodation was basic but adequate for our needs.

Review 80:breakfast poor vfm (value for money)

Review 81:The friendly staff and their general efficiency. The en suite room was pristine with regard to hygiene. We could see the Tay

Review 82:Shower

Review 83:Bed

Review 84:i thought that cost of breakfast was quite expensive.

Review 85:Room was clean and tidy.

Review 86:Too far from almost everything. OK for one. Night

Review 87:Room clean &comfortable.

Review 88:Not easy to find with Sat Nav and address

Review 89:Good for a stop over for one night.

Review 90:A good feeling of privacy and quiet surroundings.

Review 91:Was in a uni villa which we weren't expecting. Not well signposted to find our room. Wifi didn't work at all

Review 92:Comfy and clean. Good price

Review 93:everything was perfect. Receptionist was very pretty.

Review 94:Further from the centre than I thought.

Review 95:Best wifi ever.

Review 96:There was a spring sticking up in the bed and no shelf space in the wet room.

Review 97:Good value for money over all.

Review 98:it was very basic.

Review 99:the Location

Review 100:Beds and staying in student accommdation

Review 101:Location

Review 102:Could not get wifi

Review 103:Staff were helful

Review 104:Accomodation was comfortable and clean.

Review 105:Very basic.the facilties were full of families that were obviously homeless and in temp accommodation.would not use again

Review 106:Bathroom was useless. Student accommodation so do not expect anything like a hotel. Beds were uncomfortable. Basic furniture.

Review 107:Free parking

Review 108:The room was very dirty

Review 109:Basically student flats not a hotel. closest place to eat or drink is about 20 mins walks away

Review 110:room was clean

Review 111:shower room is poor. the drain was tight, so dirty water filled the floor very easily.

Review 112:good location

Review 113:Unfriendly Reception staff. Discourteous treatment. Poor service.

Review 114:Perfect for the open or playing at St. Andrews

Review 115:The room was very small and basic. Also the television was even smaller with no battery in the remote.

Review 116:The location was good.

Review 117:we didn't like anything only stayed one night even though we booked for four nights got refunded

Review 118:Everything:)

Review 124:Nice comfy bed and free WiFi and have a iron board to hand

Review 125:Staff very inflexible
