Reviews for Chambres d'hôtes L'Epicurium

Review 1:The hotel was not open until 5.30pm. I wish we had been told as we got into Le Puy at midday and wanted to drop our bags off. We had to carry our bags around all day.

Review 2:Hotel was in a great position. The rooms were great. Beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was great. Staff were friendly.

Review 3:The breakfast was a typical French breakfast of bread, a great selection of jams and coffee or tea. As we are cycling through France, it was light on for our needs. We asked for an early breakfast on our departure, and the staff helpfully explained how it was organised, but we found that other early risers had finished ours off! This is not a fault of the staff, but perhaps early breakfasts could be arranged differently?

Review 4:The staff were very helpful, and allowed us an early check in, and helped arrange an early departure too. I though they did an excellent job,and cheerfully too! We liked the way an old building has been modernised, keeping the facade in keeping with the World Heritage location, but upgrading the facilities inside.

Review 5:Lovely but simple tasteful design for historic renovation that maintains integrity of building & interior. Excellent dinners available on site. Plenty of room for us - older couple w grandchild teenager.

Review 6:Breakfast is spartan but adequate although it took us a while to determine we were to pour our coffee in the bowl and dunk our bread!

Review 7:Really enjoyed the dinner we added to the room.

Review 8:The meals were overpriced compared to what you would pay in a local resturant. The bathroom was very impractal. The wooden strarcase and floors were very noisy. No credit card facilities.

Review 9:Good staff, good location.

Review 10:A lot of stairs to haul the bags up. No WiFi. Difficult to find, up an alley way. No parking.

Review 11:Room was basic but very comfortable. Breakfast also was basic (bread and jam and coffee) but ok.

Review 12:We tired travelers were warmly welcomed. At the last minute, we had an excellent dinner of home-cooked local specialties. The location was an easy walk from the train station on a quiet street in the heart of Le Puy.

Review 13:There wasn't anything we didn't like. It was occasionally a bit noisy outside - but, you're in a city !!

Review 14:We found this hotel comfortable, interesting in concept, brilliantly located for the centre of Le Puy and absolutely just what we wanted. Great concern for others in the hotel (eg, no noise after 10 pm). Interesting breakfasts, especially the seating arrangements on benches and tables - certainly improved our French ! Couldn't quite work out whether/when the restaurant was open in the evening.

Review 15:-thin walls and noisy floor - you are required to be silent after 22:00. -hotel opposite to a school (3m away) so it's noisy in the morning -no parking, but available to stop in front of the hotel and unpack. Also there are several parking places in vicinity which are free of charge over night (18:00-09:00).

Review 16:-nicely vintage decorated room -good breakfast with a wide selection of home made jams (including the locally famous "green lentils") -comfortable bed -good location close to main attractions

Review 17:5:30 check in is too late when you have been travelling all day to get there.

Review 18:Breakfast included a nice selection of homemade jams. Bathroom was up to date and nice.

Review 19:The bed was clean, but we found a lot of hairs from the previous visitors.

Review 20:It is in a old building in the center. Nice design of the hotel rooms. Good wireless. The breakfast has self made marmelades, very good!

Review 21:3 flights of stairs with our bags a bit challenging at our age. The wi-fi only worked in the dining room

Review 22:Fantastic location and lovely couple running this hotel. The building has loads of character and breakfast was good.

Review 23:Plumbing is a little noisy, and the squeaky floorboards overhead, but very minor in the scheme of things.

Review 24:The hotel has been renovated beautifully, the young couple who own the hotel were lovely and extremely helpful. If we were in that area again we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, super breakfast, pity the restaurant wasn't open the night we were there as I'm sure it would have been good. I know it's a relatively new venture for the owners and I wish them every success as they must have put a huge amount of time and effort into the hotel

Review 25:Location is excellent - close to the gare SNCF and to the plaza by the tourism office. The Roma are comfy and chic and the people at the reception are absolutely wonderful. They made me my stay even better

Review 26:Lack of parking (knew about it beforehand)

Review 27:Location within historical city, historical older building, combination of modern design fitting in the original historical structure

Review 28:Due to the historicity of the building the sound isolation was very poor, especially for the sewage system. And during the breakfast it would have been even nicer to have some french music.

Review 29:Very harmonically integrated ambience of the historical building and modern interior design.owner was very kind and responsive. And for breakfast there was a chance to taste several types of locally produced jams.

Review 30:Breakfast was s bit plain could have done with some fruit. Or warm cross aunts would have been better than bread,

Review 31:Large room, good bathroom, quiet street, friendly, helpful staff and great food..

Review 32:Bed was a bit saggy. Could do with a new mattress

Review 33:Restaurant food v good. Thank you to the staff member who carried our heavy bags to our room.

Review 34:Excellent refurbishment of a beautiful building - tastefully decorated.

Review 35:Insonorisation

Review 36:Charme, decoration originale

Review 50:squeaky floorboards, thin walls, heard everything about the neighbours

Review 53:Sympathetic and artistic decoration of old building

Review 54:Do not arrive after dark as it looks off putting

Review 55:Near the cathedral if you want to go to the mass before the pilgrimage clean and simple good if simple breakfast warm welcome

Review 65:Beautifully decorated rooms. Great shower. Great location in the heart of the city. Good breakfast. Good value.

Review 66:Rather 'monastically' furnished - very minimalist and no wifi in the bedroom. There were no tea / coffee making facilities / iron and ironing board / music playing facility / TV.

Review 67:Very central, parking was relatively close by and inexpensive. Very friendly greeting on arrival and helpful orientation advice on places to eat.

Review 68:Parking is some distance away; instructions to find the hotel were lacking.

Review 69:Evening meal with pilgrims setting out to Santiago de Compostela was fun and friendly; food was simple but interesting.

Review 70:The rooms were a little dark but quaint. In fitting with the style of the property

Review 71:Great location with large airy rooms
