Reviews for Bay Villa

Review 1:We loved the Old Library bedroom. Very decadent and breakfast served in our room was just lovely. We'll definitely be back very soon. So many lovely touches in the bedroom. Thank you Margaret. We had a lovely time in Grange and the surrounding area.

Review 2:Not easy to find, had to call to get directions Train horns (customers need to be warned)

Review 3:Excellent facilities Great Food Very spacious room Great views

Review 4:only thing we could say .....wasn't easy too find and wifi not the best.... proper hidden treasure

Review 5:What a fantastic guest house ! There are 3 great spacious rooms ,we booked and stayed in the Silverdale suite.Four poster superb bed.roll top bath in bay window, amazing!

Review 6:The property has no sign or way of locating it from the main rd. It is tucked down a back street, next to a cafe with nothing to acknowledge you have found the correct place. Good central location though.

Review 7:Excellent breakfast and room. The breakfast is served in your room and it was perfect. The extra touches ie sherry, chocolates and biscuits etc really added to the stay. The car park pass was good idea.

Review 8:Welcoming landlady who made us a super breakfast in our rooms which was quite a treat. Really special rooms with great attention to detail, like chocolates, local cookies and port. My husband and I enjoyed a first floor room with large four poster bed. The bath by the window was quite fun in the evening although the shower room was rather small; the room was very spacious however and we appreciated the antique furniture and sea view Our kids had a ground floor room with twin beds, also with great view. They had a shower room and dressing room which were superb. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return if coming to the area. Highly recommended

Review 9:Everything was perfect. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. Margaret was lovely and couldn't have done more. Such a generous person. We were very happy there.

Review 10:Everything about Bay Villa was just so relaxing and made you feel you didn't want to leave. Margaret's hospitality is second to none. Are already booked to go back.

Review 11:Margaret was absolutely lovely, she made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Neither of us wanted to leave and it was a real shame we had only booked one night!

Review 12:Whilst dining out locally we were offended by some locals however this should not deter anyone from from visiting grange over sands, as bay villa is a great base for the lakes

Review 13:The are was very scenic and relaxing, the room was truly amazing with nice little touches to the decor. And breakfast in the room made it very intimate. The shower was fantastic a rain type shower and chocolates and decanter of sherry was a nice touch, and the roll top bathe just exquisite, overall a great stay

Review 14:The beautiful bath in the bay window overlooked a public car park and a railway line that is in use, so it wasn't particularly private. The first train came through at 6.15 am so it wasn't particularly restful either.

Review 15:The room was as described and quite comfortable. Margaret, the host, was welcoming, and the breakfast was very good and generous.

Review 16:We had a really relaxing time here, would recommend to anyone, the rooms are beautiful and the whole experience feels like it should cost a lot more than we were charged

Review 17:Nothing, couldn't find a fault unless having a totally enjoyable stay goes as a dislike.

Review 18:Everything, the room,fourposter bed,view,breakfast & a charming host.

Review 19:there are several things to love about Bay Villa - the bath (and the view from the bath) in the Silverdale room is as good as it looks in the photos; the four poster bed was so luxurious; the breakfast was excellent; but the best thing were the special touches and extras

Review 20:Grange-over-Sands is lacking a bit on the restaurant/pub side (but that's nothing BayVilla can be blamed for).

Review 21:Extremely service-minded inn-keeper, extremely well appointed, great breakfast. Great view from the rooms. Conveniently located to seaside and railway station.

Review 22:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 23:The old library room made me feel like royalty. It created a feeling of stepping back in time and allowed my husband and I to just slow down and enjoy each others company. The view from the old library room is stunning and can be seen whilst lying in bed. Margaret the owner of bay villa has created a very special place. We absolutely loved it.

Review 24:Some rail noise in Silverdale. I find it comforting but some might not like it.

Review 25:The most beautiful comfortable room - a little piece of paradise. As I was leaving early, Margaret had set breakfast out for me.

Review 26:Margaret, the owner, has thought of everything. The room is filled with little complementary touches and her breakfast is brilliant. You're given the key to your room told the information and then left to do what you want, not nagged, I like that. We stayed in the silverdale room and it was amazing, especially the big bath.

Review 27:Margaret is a brilliant host, couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The room (Silverdale) was beautiful, the bed was incredibly comfy, the breakfasts delicious.

Review 28:Wonderful weekend away as a surprise to my fiance! We stayed in the Silverdale room on the top floor which was by far the biggest room we've ever stayed in compared to many hotels and B&B's, so tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you might need during your stay. Each drawer we opened contained a new surprise! Full of little things that show how much thought was put into preparing a guest room which looks and feels like home - only far more luxurious and pampering! The super comfortable huge bed was out of this world, and so was the huge roll-top bath in the room. Breakfast was served in our room and Margaret the host showed the utmost concern and was very helpful and kind. Thank you so much for the wonderful retreat, we'll definitely be coming back!

Review 29:nothing

Review 30:We've just come back from a relaxing luxury break at Bayvilla We were made so welcome by Margaret the owner and there are so many lovely touches, the attention to detail for the comfort of guests was amazing. We'd definitely go back>

Review 31:Grange a bit hilly, few places to eat in the evening.Nothing to not like in the accommodation.

Review 32:Every thing worked.! Breakfast served in our room exactly on time.A car park pass for areas in the lakes.Lots of space in the bedroom.A lovely view.

Review 33:We were disappointed when we first saw the exterior of the building - parking was in a public car park (fare included in the price) which was a short walk away. The view from the window looked over the sands but also over the local railway line. There were no good places to eat in Grange and, because of limited local taxi services, travelling to Cartmel required booking in advance (although this did not prove to be too difficult).

Review 34:Once we stepped through the door, everything was excellent. The room was lovely with a fantastic en-suit shower room and we were very well looked after. The breakfasts were magnificant. We discovered excellent restaurants at nearby Cartmel and ended up eating there on all three nights of our stay - we recommend the Cavendish for good pub grub and Rogan and Co for a very good restaurant meal (but note, they tend to be busy so it is best to book in advance).

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:We cannot recommend Bay Villa enough! The attention to detail was exceptional and the room (Silverdale) was absolutely brilliant. The owner is a wonderful host and actively goes out of her way to make sure your experience is the best possible. We were also provided with a parking permit which could be used in a variety of car parks across the south lakes which was very useful. Breakfast was fantastic too. 5*.

Review 37:One thing you should know, although it's clear if you look at the location, is that the rail-track runs close to hotel and there is a local service which runs every 30-40 mins. Unfortunately, as there is an unmanned crossing just down from the hotel, it does have to toot each time! As its a local service, it doesn't run at night, and I didn't find it that distracting as I was mostly out of the room, but people looking for a very quiet location should be aware of this before they book. That said, no other noise at all.

Review 38:The room was just as lovely as it looked on the website ( I stayed in the Old Library); the bathroom , which is not shown, is of adequate size, with a large walk-in shower, toiletries and fluffy bathrobes/slippers, beautifully decorated. The breakfast, as others have said was really good and served just how and when I requested. The fireplace shown in the picture was not active when I visited, but Margaret told me a man was coming in the next few days to open up the chimney -so you will shortly have the luxury of a real fire in the bedroom. I would definitely stay here again ( and with a fire it will definitely hit 5 points) Cartmel down the road is a lovely place to visits, and it is of course the home to L'enclume - I wish I'd realised in time to book a meal there!

Review 39:I would not change any of our time we had at bay villa. I did not want to go home.

Review 40:We was made to feel very comfortable. An excellent service. Food was lovely.

Review 41:Leaving ! Lol

Review 42:We liked everything ! The rooms are amazing , we had the library room and the attention to detail is superb. The breakfast was first class and was served in the room which made our stay even more special. We really didn't want to leave. The lovely lady that owns it is very professional and nothing was too much trouble . Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Review 43:One of the most charming rooms I've found in decades of traveling inEurope and North America: spacious and bright, elegantly furnished, witha gorgeous view on Morecambe Bay and the possibility of taking arelaxing bath right in front of it, in a beautiful, old fashionedbathtub! Another plus: a perfectly cooked English breakfast, served onthe bedroom's table. And the landlady has been most kind andwelcoming to us.

Review 44:There was nothing at all to dislike 100% quality

Review 45:This was our second stay and was left a bottle of bubbly with a note saying welcome back. Total classic room .breakfast served in our room .once you stay you will always go back .fantastic place to stay going back again next month .

Review 46:Having to leave!

Review 47:Everything. Very luxurious with first class service and lots of additional touches which really added to our four day stay. Loved watching the sun rise over the bay. Well located for exploring the Lake District. Only a few miles from Cartmel which has great pubs and restaurants. Indian restaurant in Grange (Aroma) was good. Excellent value compared to many hotels we've stayed at. Highly recommended.

Review 48:Having to leave!!

Review 49:Cleanliness of accommodation. Breakfast was enormously good. Nice to have a dressing room and plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits and a little fridge to put snacks into, just in case. Bed is enormous and lovely soft pillows. Views to die for over the bay and the morning sun made it complete.

Review 50:The huge room would have benefited from comfy chairs or a sofa.

Review 51:Individuality of bedrooms, great breakfasts. Attention to detail, quality of features and fittings

Review 52:Host, room, breakfast in room. Really wonderful place to stay. Everything in the room is designed to make the stay extra special. Fresh milk, Belgium chocolate "chill pill", beautiful furnishing and posh bathroom with very fluffy towels. We loved it and wish we had more reasons to go back.

Review 53:The nearby railway line caused us some concern at first as the trains tooted their horn every time they went past. However, thankfully this stopped after about 10.30pm and didn't start up again till the early morning. But it didn't spoil an otherwise wonderful stay.

Review 54:Loved the room, beautifully decorated and styled. Also the wonderful 6ft bed and the fact that we could have breakfast in our room -that was just perfect! Great breakfast and very kind and obliging landlady. Nice village to wander around and also near to the Lakes if you want to explore further afield.

Review 55:We stayed in Silverdale with four poster bed and bath by window. Wonderful big room - amazingly comfortable bed - best night's sleep I've had in a long time. Breakfast served in room at time you request - food was delicious ! Would definitely stay again.

Review 56:Whats not to like!

Review 57:The host Margaret was very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. Location was excellent with lovely views over the bay. Room was beautiful with a warm, relaxing ambiance. Bathroom was lovely and fantastic shower big enough for two. It was lovely to have a first class breakfast in the room sat with the french doors open enjoying the morning sunshine. Nice start to the day. Nice touches with tea/coffee facilities and little treats left in room.

Review 58:This hotel is is one of the best I've stayed in. The service is fantastic! They make you feel so very welcome and cannot do enough for for you, the breakfast and morning breakfast service is the best I've had. I would recommend this hotel to anyone at any time. My mother inlaw was insanely jealous of our room (she had paid more for a lets say not that nice hotel just up the road!) it should be on your bucket list!!!!

Review 59:Absolutely nothing I could think of.

Review 60:Everything, especially the decor which is really lovely. Also, it was so obvious a woman has designed the place; sockets and mirrors etc are all in the right place. Hotel groups should take note! It's great having breakfast served in the room and all cooked to order. Delicious.

Review 61:Only booked one night.

Review 62:Room size and decor was fantastic. Finished to a stately home standard. Wonderful view overlooking the bay from a huge balcony. Great to have breakfast in the dining area in our room. Chocolates were a real surprise.

Review 63:Can't fault this Bed and Breakfast. Stayed in quite a few B&Bs, but this was definitely the best. 5 stars!

Review 64:Breakfast was excellent and served in the privacy of your room. The room was spacious with French doors leading on to your very own balcony. The fridge contained complementary water and goodies. Staff were very tentative and could not do enough for you.

Review 65:Impossible to fault it.

Review 66:Everything from reservation booking, confirmation, first class service and accommodation. An opportunity to relax and be pampered in luxury and excellence.

Review 67:Me and my wife stayed for our wedding annaversary it was lovely. I couldn't say anything bad about out stay room was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was great. Location and view was also excellent staff was very nice and welcoming I would defiantly recommend bay villa to others

Review 68:The outside entrance gives little justice to the interior.

Review 69:The accommodation was very tastefully decorated to a high standard and the location was perfect being in the middle town. The breakfast served in your room was excellent.

Review 70:Bay is a bed and breakfast with rooms much better than the hotelsnearby. They are large, beautifully decorated and individual. We stayedin the room at the top with the bath looking out onto the estuary in thewindow. Perfect for me.I Think any of the 3 rooms would be lovelythough. Breakfast is served in the room at the table. It feels veryprivate and romantic with a touch of luxury. We had our key to the frontdoor to come and go as we please. It was more expensive than a bed andbreakfast but on par with a hotel and although there is no restaurantetc the rooms are so much better we found it much better value formoney. We went on the train as the station is so close ad we spent ourdays walking around the area. We would definitely recommend it . Forgotto say the bed was super comfortable, furniture was really tasteful andthere was everything you needed including fresh milk.

Review 71:Gorgeous, spacious rooms. Stayed in 2 different rooms, both absolutely fabulous. Breakfast served in the room, delicious. Staff attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves a little luxury.

Review 75:Staff very helpful Room was very well appointed Exceptionally comfy bed Lovely view from the window (even the railway track!) Good value for money Great breakfast

Review 76:Nothing at all.

Review 77:Everything about Bay Villa was wonderful. It is a classy, luxurious, special place. We stayed in The Old Library room and this was such a treat. The room is huge with a beautiful four-poster bed, the bathroom is wonderful with a drench shower and very modern fittings. The highlights for us were the view from the balcony, the host Neil who was so friendly and helpful, and also the delicious breakfasts he cooked up to help us start our day. Cannot recommend Bay Villa enough, it is truly special.

Review 78:At first I was disappointed looking from the room outside as I thought it was more private and looking right onto the beach, however very deceiving, the car park was at the rear and easy to monitor your vehicle, and the view although was over the railway was still spectacular from the room.

Review 79:Friendly accommodating hosts, great room and close to all amenities. Looking forward to returning soon.
