Reviews for Pitbauchlie House Hotel
Review 1:Had to request sour smelling shower curtain to be changed. Housekeeping comes too early. Not enough power sockets, room could use updating. Our room was next to fitness room - heard treadmill early in the morning.
Review 2:Good food. Resident's bar always open. Large room. Clean after shower curtain was changed. Reliable free wifi throughout entire hotel.
Review 3:No bad experiences. I wasn't 'in love' with the food and was a little disappointed. It was o.k. (pie and chips sort of meals) and I would have preferred a better standard. However it was o.k. for the two days we stayed there.
Review 4:Friendly staff and clean and well maintained comfortable accommodation
Review 5:Say dog friendly, however dogs not allowed in areas where you eat. No provision offered. For example we stay hotels where they will set you table out of the way.
Review 6:The staff helpful, nice room, and comfortable
Review 7:I think the room I was allocated was above the kitchen and there was a strange smell in the room.
Review 8:The staff - welcoming, cheerful, chatty and efficient
Review 9:No welcome from reception on arrival Price
Review 10:Comfy bed Clean bathrooms Dining facilities on site Bar and restaurant staff a credit, funny, bright and attentive
Review 11:The shower was disappointing, the flow was rather weak. However this was only a minor point
Review 12:The staff were warm and welcoming. They were helpful and we really enjoyed the quietness of the hotel
Review 13:No Air Conditioning which made the room unbearably hot & I had to borrow a small fan from reception Dreadful old Shower with hardly any pressure over high sided bathtub No Fridge (fine for one night, but not if you're staying longer) Room could have cleaner (especially bathroom floor & pillowcases) Decor in the rooms are tired and need an update the bathroom needs a compete renovation. Overpowering chemical smell next to the public PC in the main foyer
Review 14:Great Location handy to motorways & Dunfermline town centre Free & strong WiFi Good Off Street Parking Large rooms with plenty of storage Lovely gardens Fantastic staff Onsite Restaurant & Bar with room service
Review 15:Rooms perhaps could be a little more spacious and one of our guests complained about the bed comfort, though the others were happy.
Review 16:Staff, food and bar excellent. Quiet hotel but perfect for us for Dunfermline and Knockhill. We had a group here for a driving weekend and it fitted the bill perfectly.
Review 17:nothing at all, its a fantastic hotel
Review 18:Our room was on the ground floor, it was spotless the bed was large and so comfy we both got a really good nights sleep, we had our dog with us and there was plenty of room for him, we would sit in the reception and have a drink which was lovely with large windows and comfy sofas to sit on, as dogs are not allowed in the bars or resturants, and it was not a problem, the staff were so friendly and helpful and all seemed happy in their work, the breakfast was fantastic plenty of choice and made how you liked it, the lunch and evening menus could be changed to suit your taste, ie boiled potatoes instead of chips, I would strongly recomend this hotel
Review 19:My fault, did not book B&B so had to pay for Breakfast & mean Scot girned @ £11 each morning!
Review 20:Enthusiastic,helpful, well-trained Staff. Good ambience.
Review 21:Lovely staff, really nice bar and restaurant. Food excellent and really good value for money, either eating or staying you will enjoy your break. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 22:The breakfast was awful. I had to have someone come to my room to install light bulbs. There were no newspapers available - very minor point.
Review 23:The location and grounds.
Review 24:Only possible fault was a lack of a pool but a minor detail
Review 25:Staff and cleanliness were superb as was the food and choice at the bar, location very good could I think in a perfect world benefit from having a pool but certainly wouldn't stop me staying again
Review 26:Breakfast. Pot of tea, one slice of bacon, spoonful of scrambled egg and beans for nearly £12. Definitely not value for money.
Review 27:Single room decent size and really comfy bed.
Review 28:Adequate parking, and close to Town centre, shopping etc. unusually for hotels today, the main bar was well used with locals and hotel guests, and had a good atmosphere
Review 29:We were offered no help with carrying our suitcases up a flight of stairs. The "flush" for the toilet was more of a dribble.
Review 30:The hotel is reasonably priced and is convenient for Edinburgh and the airport.
Review 31:Breakfast was not included Extremely poor water pressure in shower Skylight in bathroom dripped due to condensation
Review 32:Comfortable, pleasant hotel and grounds
Review 33:Mattress of poor quality so slept badly in a twin room. Continental breakfast not much choice. Could have put a deal on for us for breakfast ,as did hotel night before. Bit pricey .
Review 34:Proximity to M90. Bistro restaurant with good meal. Clean and well presented rooms. Quiet area
Review 35:WC in the on suite did not work had to fill the rubbish bin with water to flush it. Did not complain as we stayed only one night and did not check in till late and no one was going to fix it late at night. Also lots of cobwebs in the room.
Review 36:The staff and food
Review 37:Noisy wedding downstairs the night we were there, but glad they were having fun. WIFI was unstable in our room.
Review 38:Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Clean. Reasonable price.
Review 39:My only down point was the lack of options for breakfast and the price. There was only 2 options which was a continental or full breakfast option one priced at £8.75 and the other over £11. There should have been the options for just toast or a breakfast roll. Give your guests more of an option.
Review 40:The hotel was lovely. Situated on beautiful grounds. The room we had was extremely spacious and ideal for 3 adults. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing and very reasonable in price. Cocktail were reasonable priced and delicious.
Review 41:21 of us had an evening meal there after the scattering of my parents ashes, the staff created a special menu for us and dressed our tables beautifully, we couldn't have asked for anything more!
Review 42:The only fault was the shower didn't work but there was a bath so it wasn't a problem just a minor irritation
Review 43:The bed was very comfortable I had the best night's sleep in weeks. Very friendly staff
Review 44:There is not much close to the hotel to do it cost us £10 in a taxi just to get to cinema we were just 3 minutes late for room service we were told they couldn't get a pizza we chose a cheese sandwich from the cold buffet the sandwhich wasn't very good
Review 45:The hotel staff were very friendly and polite our room was clean and comfortable the hot water was lovely the bath filled within minutes the towels were changed regular and they were lovely and soft the cleaning staff were very nice and quiet
Review 46:There was a issue with the plumbing when we stayed and I didn't have a enjoyable shower, the water was dribbling out of the shower head.
Review 47:Hotel was in a good location, hotel has basic facilitys and is good for a nights rest
Review 48:Bathroom was old with poor shower. Room door rattled every time corridor door was opened/closed. Walls very thin could hear people in other rooms.
Review 49:Wifi was a bit poor in our room but they were trying to fix it . Not near bus route so had to get taxis. Room overlooked smokers corner.
Review 50:Staff , breakfast , location , convenience
Review 51:Clean, very comfortable, good location, very friendly helpful staff. This hotel is very dog friendly, which is important to us. We have stayed a few times and have found them to be welcoming to our dogs on each occasion. We would travel a little further to stay here due to this.
Review 52:We felt that the reception staff could have been a little more friendlier. especially as they are the first point of contact. on handing in our key on departure we got little more than a grunt from the person on duty.
Review 53:We stayed overnight with a couple of friends and our overall opinion was that it was a nice place and the setting was lovely.
Review 54:Thought overall value for money was no good. Toiletries were very poor. Shower was difficult to use. Paid extra for a breakfast tray which had items of food pre ordered missing. Bin outside was overflowing which made it difficult to put dog waste in. I will not be returning for the price of over £90 for one night for one person again
Review 55:Being on the ground floor but this was pre booked
Review 56:Lightbulbs insufficient to read easily in the bedroom Single room had a saggy bed, poor ventilation and too close to Sam's bar so sleep was disturbed when revellers went home
Review 57:Excellent double bed Great breakfast Friendly and helpful staff
Review 58:Purchased B&B rate included breakfast which is served at 7 am. Unable to take advantage of breakfast due to early flight. Explained situation at check in. No alternative available without added cost. Continental room service option available but required additional fee. No credit given for portion of rate that applied to breakfast. "Too bad you lose! " Property is rather dark, tried and in need of an update. Corridors and room somewhat musty couldn't locate air-conditioning. Garden plantings are nice but could use more attention to maintenance and weeding. Bistro is bright and attractive. Restaurant seemed pleasant (we did not use).
Review 59:Location, quite area. Free parking. Restaurant waitress very upbeat, sincere, and friendly as were all the people we encountered in Scotland.
Review 60:As usual the bed are soft and the breakfast was not really good. The quality price was low
Review 61:The Garden, and the hotel in general, the quality of the service and the people working.
Review 62:The room was a distance from reception - through several doors and up several stairs - difficult when you have luggage.
Review 63:The hotel was in a good location - easy to locate - plenty of parking. The room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant provided a good breakfast. Staff were very pleasant, helpful and friendly.
Review 64:Poor rooms at one end of the hotel with many stairs up AND down. One of our rooms was like a dungeon and suffered from noise from rooms above and from patrons leaving the bar late at night.
Review 65:From the moment i arrived till the morning i checked out the staff were always smiling and had a cordial greeting. The food was top class and i would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
Review 66:Staff were fantastic, made everything incredibly easy, I'd recommend this hotel to the rest of my colleagues travelling across in future. Food was perfect, lots of options.
Review 67:Although there was plenty of hot water our shower was pathetic - the temp once set changed went hot & cold & the pressure very weak. Toilet difficult to flush again due to poor water pressure.
Review 68:The staff were excellent - friendly & helpful. Breakfast had everything needed (except tattle scones).
Review 69:Difficult to find criticism - maybe the hotel is a bit dated looking in places, and the shower lacked a bit of pressure, but this is being picky.
Review 70:Very friendly staff; rooms were clean and tidy; good breakfast - overall good value for money. Would use the hotel again.
Review 71:Although we didn't have the breakfast we thought it was quite expensive at £11.95 for a full English.
Review 72:The bistro bar was well priced on drinks. The menu was also reasonably priced.
Review 73:No shower mat. Wobbly lavatory seat. No spare toilet roll. 1 pack of biscuits between 2 guests. Only 2 disabled parking bays and only 1 actually useable.
Review 74:flexible eat times no need to book a set time
Review 75:We used it as a base to travel to The Open golf and found it ideal. The hotel was really very good and the staff extremely helpful. Whilst we did not use all the facilities what we saw they looked good. The dining area and breakfasts were without question excellent.
Review 76:We couldn't find anything to dislike
Review 77:The efficient staff from the minute we got there. The staff in the restaurant were particularly good. Very nice easy dining bistro
Review 78:Nothing
Review 79:The breakfast was great and the great sized bedroom have us plenty of space. Stayed for one night and really enjoyed it. Great location to where we were going. Would recommend
Review 80:Weather was warm and the rooms were quite hot - aircon would make the review perfect
Review 81:Free internet with direct connection in the whole building Bistro and restaurant options on site Bar on site Great service
Review 82:My friend had a seizure and had to go to hospital and the staff were incredible. Managed things and kept things calm, looked after us but others to. There was a wedding on that night also.
Review 83:The food let it down this year! Some areas of hotel could do with a refurb!
Review 84:The staff were excellent, location very good. Clean tidy and room well equipped.
Review 85:The heat in the room was imbearable. (Staff blamed thunderstorms but it was below 20 degrees Celsius outside and i Heard no thunder, so i dunno). There is absolutly nothing to do outside the hotel and it´s not cozy at all so after a glass of wine you´re stuck in a pretty dull Place.
Review 86:Place had two restaurants and we ate at the Bistro which was nice. Hotel was neat and tidy and had nice garden outside. It´s a hotel with Conference facilities and works well as that. Rooms where not spacious but worked okay with two beds. (Two Grown Ups one kid) Plus for Bath tub. Breakfast Continental + cooked was fine. Works well as a last stop Before Airport if you don´t wanna sleep in Edinburgh, just a short drive with rental car. WiFi in the room was big plus and not a sure bet around scotland.
Review 87:High chair provided by breakfast crew was below standard but we complained to management and they assured us that this has been looked into
Review 88:The hotel was easy to find, decent facilities but needs a bit of updating in some areas. Free wifi was free and easy to use
Review 89:Arguing/noise from other guests one night, but this can't be helped.
Review 90:Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and made up nicely. Good size TV in the room. Nice location.
Review 91:Friendly staff and good service. No problem in looking after some bags for us for a week, although we only stayed 1 night. Perfect location for the Rosyth Cruise Terminal.
Review 92:Good bedroom though at the very end which made it difficult to pop out of the room for anything. Restaurant meal was poor though husband was very happy with his - the steak I had was tiny and basically fried with no seasoning but the duck looked magnificent All the staff were brilliant though they locked the gardens at 9 which prevented a nice evening drink in the sunset - lovely garden shame to limit the access - very busy with non residents in the restaurant and bar which made it a bit slow for service but a nice stay
Review 93:Corridor door banged when anyone went through, so quite a disturbed night
Review 94:Beautiful garden, sat outside for lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff, they prepared our room early for us, because we needed to get changed for a wedding.
Review 95:The bedrooms were of a poor standard for the price we paid. The décor was depressing and the rooms small. A "Continental Breakfast" offered rolls but nothing more extravagant and we had to ask for butter. Tea and coffee arrived at the table without milk - we had to use the jugs set aside for cereals. My bread roll and coffee cost me £7.75.
Review 96:The public areas of the hotel were pleasant and staff polite and friendly and the location good for our 2-day visit to Edinburgh
Review 97:1. Noise from neighbouring room at 2.30am when occupants arrived home & again at 5.30am when they left. 2. Enjoyed meal in hotel on Thursday night & signed for it with waiter. Unfortunately the barman ran after my wife & I as we left the dining area wanting to know had we paid for our meal. Embarrassing to say the least!!
Review 98:Comfortable room
Review 99:Room and restaurants too hot and stuffy
Review 100:Our room was quiet, comfortable and spacious, and the hotels 2 restaurants and bars and comfortable lounge, meant we had everything we needed without going anywhere else
Review 101:Disturbed at 5 o'clock by people next door coming into there room and talking can't understand why people can't consider others Then at 6:15 radiator pipes in our room made an airlock noise? which lasted for 20 minutes -I did mention this to the receptionist when booking out!
Review 102:Friendly staff and clean hotel
Review 103:Easy access from M90. Comfortable bed but room too warm, some noise from a motor/power unit humming outside. Had gluten free bread at breakfast (thanks) but used tinned mushrooms.
Review 104:Overall good. Low shower pressure but happy with amenities in general
Review 105:Good comfortable hotel good amenities friendly helpful polite staff reasonably priced nice bars and eateries would stay again
Review 106:Pricey for room only. Breakfast not included. We also had a meal in the evening in the bar and it was not good at all. The pizza was actually inedible.
Review 107:Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 108:The warm welcome pet friendly and great restaurant great food and big breakfast the staff were all very pleasant and polite Our first visit to Scotland could not have started better.
Review 109:Walls paper thin but then again it can be argued that guests were very loud walking down the corridor at 8.30 am which woke me up. Shower was pretty rubbish no power.
Review 110:Cheap and cheerful. Staff very friendly. Bed comfortable
Review 111:No lift to help with luggage. My husband carried our 4 bags up 2 flightsof stairs-- too late to find another hotel. The wait staff in therestaurant seemed oppressed by their lack of enthusiasm.
Review 112:The gardens were very pretty.
Review 113:Bed was a but a the hard side. Bathroom fan was quite noisy once it had been on for more than 2 minutes. could also hear other guests pass outside the room easily
Review 114:Clean, well presented room with all facilities you'd expect from a hotel in this price range.
Review 115:The extractor fan in the bathroom could have been a little quieter and that's the biggest fault !!
Review 116:The interaction of the staff made the stay very enjoyable and we were very well looked after for dinner and breakfast.
Review 117:We ate in the hotels bistro which presents good value but provides 'pub' food rather than the quality of food we would expect in a bistro.
Review 118:Large, comfortable bedroom with huge bed. The staff were excellent and my son being a wheelchair user presented no difficulties. Small adjustments were made without the need for us to ask.
Review 119:The bed...i reported it and the Receptionist said it would be looked at.
Review 120:Large bedroom, clean and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful, especially in the bistro and breakfast room
Review 121:Poor food, couldn't serve an omelette at breakfast, a smell of burnt fat from the kitchen. The staff couldn't tell me that a football match I wanted to see would be on in the bar. Having returned from town to see if I could see it, it was on in the bar.
Review 122:The location and bar
Review 123:Over billed but once pointed out the mistake was rectified
Review 124:Most of the staff were very welcoming friendly and helpful choice of food excellent Lovely room Pleasant setting Late check out
Review 125:Crisp white bed linen and tablecloths. Good car parking. Well mannered and helpful local staff who all seem to care. good quality breakfast and well appointed quiet room with good size bed - e cells t second stay and will. It be the last . Thank you.
Review 126:Room above kitchen so some extraction fan noise, but not excessive
Review 127:Food good, room very pleasant. Free Wifi with excellent coverage Menu has wide choices and food well presented
Review 128:room had no heating at the night which was unfortunately a cold one. Complained about this to the reception but nothing was done apparently. I wrapped myself up tight.
Review 129:location
Review 130:Very nice, friendly staff and the room was just clean and tidy. The only reason i haven't scored the breakfast or WIFI is because we didn't use them
Review 131:Lack of food service in bar area Asked for my drink to be delivered to room and told there would be a charge from bar ( disabled) I refused and I tipped the young lad who took it to room
Review 132:Friendliness of Staff staff .... excellent, met a few friendly faces from previous visits
Review 133:Odd inconsistent towel practices on occasion.
Review 134:Friendly staff and nice environment. It was nice to use the garden as weather was so good. Breakfast has improved.
