Reviews for Topakas House

Review 1:Especially Eleni is an angel, she also speaks Turkish and she rules. I love her dogs and the historical place. This island was a dream, and the place was a fairyland! We loved it!!!

Review 2:Lovely rustic out of town hotel run by family. Eleni is very friendly and helpful and speaks English, Turkish as well as Greek. Nothing for her is to much trouble. Great breakfast, off road parking and close to supermarket for supplies. Would definitely return and recommend.

Review 3:It is very close to the airport runway, so expect lots of aircraft noise. Also the two dogs of the owners may be some nuisance. The bathrooms are very small and uncomfortable. Wireless internet works only in the courtyard, not in the rooms. The walls are not sound insulated, we could hear what was spoken in the next room, as well as all the toilet flushing and shower sounds.

Review 4:Staff is very warm, helpful. Location is beautiful.

Review 5:Great experience The hotel was an old farm. Owned by a family. Veryfriendly and kind. A very good way to Spend days in Greek islands. Veryrecommended.

Review 6:Staff really very very friendly. Helpful and have good connections to touristic facilities. They take care of you. You feel like at home. Fantastic breakfast.

Review 7:The property looked really pretty and historic. However, I think it needed a lot more love. The outside area was not well taken care of or attended. Wi-Fi did not work and the towels need to be replaced. They were pretty old and worn-out.

Review 8:I loved the surroundings of the property. I had such Tuscany feeling. Eleni was very friendly and helpful. Our stay was one night and we spend most of it outside. But I still can say she is a good host.

Review 9:We were promised to have balcony with the view on the garden. Instead, we were lodged on the ground floor with the view on the road outside the hotel. It was written in the description of our studio that it would be of 18 sq. m, but the real area was significantly smaller. Wi Fi signal was weak, the bed was squeaky. We had no kettle in our studio. It looks like the price for this studio was overestimated. Kambos is somewhat strange place consisting of many high stone fences. There is no conventional street, only fences, fences, fences… The nearest good beach, Karfas, is within 3km, the Chios city with shops is within 4km. The bus connections are not effective. If you have no car and you do not feel healthy enough for walking for an hour or more you should not choose Kambos.

Review 10:Not far from the Hotel (fifteen minutes by foot), there are two good supermarkets (Lidl and Eurospar). We appreciate hospitality and sociability of Eleni, the Hotel’s host. She is a hard worker and a pretty woman.

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:Great place to stay and great hospitality, thanks for everything Eleni. We felt like at home during our stay. Rooms are clean and nice, the garden is a good place for relaxing. It's easy to go seaside by walking, and there are good beach and restaurants too

Review 13:Make sure you have printed directions because the neighborhood is a beautiful labyrinth!

Review 14:Topakas house is a lovely mansion that has been converted into very comfortable rooms with a comfortable bed, small kitchen with hotpot and refrigerator (great for those of us based out of Turkey who like to bring home the bacon, literally), and small but functional bathroom. Additionally, there are small televisions in every room and our friend even had a small panini press in her room. The garden outside has a water wheel and flowering trees to shade you while you eat or read.

Review 15:nice location, cosy place to stay, delicious breakfast, as comfortable as our own house, great housekeeping and wonderful owners. Thank you Kostas and Eleni, we had great time at your house.

Review 16:It is a suburb of chios city. But also it is like toscana. Kambos is a good choice to stay in a peaceful place while nor being so far to city center. You will meet smiling people there with hospitality.

Review 17:We had to leave!

Review 18:We had a wonderful stay. We got around quite a lot of the island, and the Kambos, where Topakas is located, is certainly the nicest region to stay. Eleni was so welcoming and helpful, way beyond what we could have expected. The breakfasts were delicious.

Review 19:If you are looking for modern&comfortable&well equipped&big spaced rooms&nice bathroom and shower please do not select it. rest of it is perfect!

Review 20:Hospitality and friendship

Review 21:The room was a bit old-fashioned, especially the bathroom. Wi-fi was on/off, better in the yard, could've been accessible in the room.

Review 22:A place with a nice aura. Beautiful outdoor area, helpful staff! The breakfast was amazing!

Review 23:Elena and her husband were very helpful in whatever questions we had from places to eat, beaches, local music, bakeries, tourist sites etc. Her English is excellent. We felt like we had landed in a mini "Mama Mia" resort. Lovely apartment with a deck that we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on in the evening and having dinner or just reading. We would highly recommend the Topakas House!

Review 24:-Location is very near to Airport and Port, especially if you rent a car. -Owner Eleni and Kostas are very helpful and friendly. Create time to talk and drink with them. -You can cook your own food in your room or also in Eleni's kitchen. -Rooms are very clean and very comfortable for a good sleep. I won't think twice about where to stay in my next visit. I'll directly go Topakas House.

Review 25:The beds are quite old, it might be better to change. You can hear the other rooms.

Review 26:The owners of the house are great, they are helpful and nice. The garden is a very good place to relax. Breakfast was OK as well. I really enjoyed.

Review 27:If you don't have a car or bike or moto, it might not be pleasant to walk to the beach because it's a kind of motorway where you walk but not far...except that I loved everything about Topakas and highly recommend to every kind of traveler!!!

Review 28:The owner: Eleni, she's a great person...she takes care of everything you might possibly need. They welcome you with a cold mastic water :-) the breakfast is actually amazing, typical greek salad (feta cheese, tomatıes, cucumber, oregano, olive oil, olive and capari) and fresh bread, delicious mandarin and cherry jams, lots of cookies all the time make your morning wonderfull!!! You can spend time in the beatiful garden day or night! The closest beach is about 10-15 mins by walk... Beach is nice, and there are 2 restaurants which are quite nice and budget.

Review 29:The trade-off for the nice qualities is the location: no restaurants or markets within walking distance -- not far away, but a car (or motorcycle) is essential. Chios city is 5 km to the north.

Review 30:A pure delight. A hotel with a distinctive personality, a converted citrus-grove farmhouse in Kambos, a district devoted to citrus farming in the 19th and most of the 20th century (a visit to the local "Citrus Memories" museum, absolutely wonderful, is essential for understanding the history of houses & farms of this sort). Nice breakfast (extra cost), with superb homemade tangerine marmalade. Attractive garden area, for breakfast. The owner, Eleni, was delightful and extremely helpful (and speaks excellent English). Rooms are simple but comfortable. Kitchen facilities in some (we didn't use them, though). Good value for the price (much better value than hotels in Çeşme, across the sea in Turkey, I should add).

Review 31:It is hard to say because we reallly liked it there. Therefore rather than saying "I did not like this", I have an observation I'd like to share and offer some advice. As a mature couple we spent our evenings at the hotel room. The TV reception at the Topakas House is poor. If technically possible, I suggest that they install a satellite dish in order to be able to watch channels (in other languages) other than the limited Greek channels. Our sleep was interrupted occasionally by the several bikes riding on the 2 adjacent main streets. Windows could be improved without losing authenticity.

Review 32:The family; their hospitality and attitude; they make you feel like you're home or among friends. And that's so nice. The environment. It feels like the whole world has stopped several years ago. Very relaxing indeed. Authenticity. Preservation of nature. Crickets, birds nearby... The breakfast was excellent. Especially the home-made tangerine jam of Kostas.

Review 33:pre-arrival information is not enough. water is well-water, not good while brushing the teeth.

Review 34:atmosphere is nice. rooms are comfortable and clean. breakfast is okay. people in the area are so helpfull.

Review 35:It's location was right where we wanted to be to explore the Kambos area of Chios. Very relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings . Good beakfast and Eleni was a very friendly and helpful host.

Review 36:This is an excellent family house. Eleni and his hunband Kostas make you feel like staying at home with its nice garden and historical building. Eleni keep saying "what can I do for you" with a great smile and always tries to make you comfortable during your stay in this beatiful house. You should take breakfast because this is a really great opportunity to taste Greek home made kitchen in the morning. Kostas always keep offering uzo in their family table during every evening and you great conversation with Eleni about everthing you wonder. We highly recommend you if you are looking for a family hospitality and clean smart house in a rasonable holiday budget.

Review 37:Almost concealed behind a pair of beautiful antique gates and protected by a stone wall, you will find charming Topakas House. Eleni and Kostas, with family, showed a great hospitality which made our stay unforgettable. The beautiful area of Kambos, with its innumerable amount of fascinating buildings, is as enchanting as the whole island. Breakfast is generous and rooms are clean and nice. I will return to Topakas, hopefully within short!

Review 39:Very friendly, helpful people.

Review 40:Eleni

Review 42:friendly staff, nice breakfast, beautiful yard

Review 45:Very friendly staff Old style greek traditional rooms Open front yard

Review 57:cosy and clean rooms in an authentic house with a peaceful garden. the owner and her family are very lovely people. the breakfast is very good.

Review 58:The hospitality of Ms Eleni..She really helped a lot.

Review 59:Eleni very helpful and nice person. Tangerine jam was very tasty.

Review 60:Not very close to city.

Review 61:Offerings from the owners.

Review 62:Nothing.

Review 63:Friendship of landlady.

Review 64:A rental car is advised (but that counts for the whole island).

Review 65:Great staff!!

Review 66:Hospitality, warmth of staff, cleanliness. In the first time, you go there as a customer and you leave there as friends with staff.

Review 67:Everything is perfect in there. It was a perfect place to stay, sleep, spend time. And perfect host. Thanks for everything

Review 68:great hospitality!

Review 69:Staff very warmfull Stone building gives a very good ambiance

Review 70:the wifi was not available in all areas.

Review 71:the staff was very helpful, very close to chios city centre if you have a car. authentic atmosphere.

Review 72:Despite the fact that spend too long connected there would be a lost of time in that wonderful island, the wifi signal could be improved.

Review 73:This was a come back for me. So I like a lot Chios. And in Topakas house I feel great - the day before my arrived I've exchanged emails with her and as I asked for she arranged a car rental for me (waiting in the ferry by the time I arrived). By the time I've checked in she was there ready to provide information about the island. The cost x benefit rate is great. The place is not a luxurious place but the most important thing is there: people are really caring for your well being during your stay.

Review 74:This is a small unique place to stay. The owner is very caring about her guests and helped us plan our trip, get a rental car and find good places to eat. My husband had a small medical issue and the owner offered for us to call her anytime from the hospital if we needed anything. The breakfasts we're interesting and homemade. The small place was in the midst of a quieter area with orange trees.

Review 75:Not ready to be a winter choice if you dont like cold but very traditional island life to enjoy

Review 76:As you sitting together with your closed neighbour. Even you can visit for a cup of tea when passing through..

Review 77:Nothing; if you're crazy about Turkish-style breakfast, go spend your holiday in the all-inclusives of Antalya; the breakfast was the best on the island.

Review 78:It is close to Chios city center on bike; it takes a bit long on foot; the breakfast is great; AC and hot water are both sufficient in the middle of winter. Eleni is very caring and welcoming. Thick stone walls has a medieval look. The garden is very nice. No humidity smell in the room although it is winter. No one pays as much effort and attention as Eleni pays to one's business.

Review 79:Very friendly people at the place. Ms. Elena was very helpful and attentive. The location is a bit far from the city center, but at the other hand it is located in Kambos which is a wonderful place plenty of old farm houses. A must see!

Review 80:The breakfast was a little expensive when compared to the hotel price.

Review 81:Eleni was very hospitable and she is very kind. The location was good and there was a beautiful garden with different kinds of trees.

Review 82:nothing to complain!!

Review 83:great welcome, great people like the family. everything was perfect over our one night stay here. really recommend this place. thank you eleni

Review 84:Shower area is really small. No wifi reception in the lower rooms.

Review 85:Eleni is a wonderful host. Her taverna suggestions were perfect. This is a small nice and friendly hotel with affordable price.

Review 86:All the rooms face the street and the noise of cars and motorcyles is inevitable. The street is not that busy though.

Review 87:The hotel is a very authentic, old house with a wonderful patio and garden. The owners are friendly. A car is needed to go to the city center. Actually, a car is a must for those who are visiting the island for leisure. The rooms are simple but clean.

Review 88:Eleni and her staff are so welcoming you immediately relax. Bacon and eggs at breakfast was a nice personal touch for me. I noticed the other guests from Turkey were served their preference of tea in a glass.

Review 89:A beautiful, peaceful and welcoming place. The food and the bedroom was great, as well as the people we met. Thanks to the kindness of Eleni, this ancient farm is a unique place to stay in.

Review 90:It was a long way from anything With no car walking I don't mind but so unsafe on these dirty un Kept roads surrounded by broken down houses.

Review 91:Nothing thought it was like a Compound Elaine was helpful

Review 92:Hospitality of the owner - Well-coming was excellent(she sat with a mapon the table, and she told the best places to go in the period of ashort stay) and during the stay, she advised local restaurants to go.The breakfast was beautiful. The place was exotic- in 1730 was built

Review 93:Everytime a great pleasure to be a guest at Topakas House. Very clean, comfortable rooms; great hospitality and amazing breakfast makes Topakas House the perfect place to stay

Review 94:I've been to Chios and stayed in Topakas two weeks ago. As I've said, that was my first but absolutely not the last stay in there. So I did it again:) For me the motivation of going somewhere again and again is not only the places that you visit, the food that you eat or the place that you stay, it's also the people that you meet. So the people in Topakas are my firends, and I feel Topakas my home. I'm so glad that I could make this weekend and could see my firends again. Thanks again Eleni for your great hospitality, for your great and cosy guesthouse, for your tasty breakfast and for your cheerful chats at the courtyard. You'll see me again :)

Review 95:Old plumbing in the room, with minor smell problem. A bit expensive in comparison.

Review 96:The beautiful garden and the nice feel and atmosphere : you feel really welcome. The location is also great, quiet and accessible. The breakfast is great.

Review 97:our bathroom had a drainage problem, floor was wet all day and night

Review 98:Eleni was so helpful, she makes you feel that there is no problem she cannot handle

Review 99:Staying in Topakas House was one of my best holiday experiences. Westayed 3 nights with my friend and 5,5 yrs old son. We felt like we wereat home. The place was so cosy, the landlady Eleni and her husbandCostas (please forgive if I misspell) were wonderful people, just astheir son and daughter. They tried to help us in every way they could. The breakfast, the courtyard and the asmosphere were great. We left ourhearts and minds in there. We'll really miss the late night chats inthe courtyard. Hopefully, this is the first but not the last stay inTopakas House.

Review 100:It was a bit far from the village (4km) so I'd recommend to rent a car or a scooter. A bicycle is a bit too demanding, the island is big and has a lot of hills.

Review 101:The hospitality of the hosts, the ambiance, the traditional house, the garden, the breakfast and the service. Eleni, the owner, is a wonderful lady!

Review 102:We are two adults and two children (9 and 11 years). We liked our stay at Topakas very much. Eleni and her family are extremely nice and gave us good information about Chios – and an excellent breakfast. You really need to rent a car to get around the lovely island. There are very beautiful beaches and interesting, picturesque cities to visit. Topakas is the perfect starting point for this, because it’s very relaxed, beautifully situated and has a good atmosphere.

Review 103:The only problem is the distance to the beach. But it is same for nearly every hotel in the island. There are many interesting beaches in Chios, and one should rent a car to discover them. Otherwise, Topakas provide a calm and relaxing accomodation for people coming from big cities.

Review 104:We are a couple with a baby of 1 year and Topakas was a perfect place to stay. Both the environment (which is very convenient for a curious baby who want to discover everything) and the hosts (Eleni and her lovely family) provided us a peaceful and comfortable stay.

Review 105:If you are driving there with your own vehicle, it may be a bit difficult to find the place in the labyrinth of Kampos (especially if you take the wrong turn as we did). But that's a minor drawback for such a lovely location, and after a couple of days you get used to the place.

Review 106:A beautiful hotel run by a lovely family. One really feels at home with them. Besides a fresh and delicious breakfast, you will get surprise treats from Eleni whenever you come across her. Rooms are comfortable and very clean, and it is bliss to spend time in their beautiful courtyard and garden. An excellent choice and value for your money.

Review 107:Great owner-Eleni- who makes it her mission to make your stay comfortable and convenient- she will book anything for you free of charge and have rental cars/scooters/bikes/food delivered to the house for you to make getting around simple

Review 108:Had a lovely stay at topakas house. Elini and her husband are so warm and accommodating, with lots of great suggestions for activities. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Review 109:Eleni is such a nice landlady, helpfull. The garden is peacefull, the breakfast is delicious. The room is clean. What else to be expected from a nice homely small hotel....

Review 110:Beautiful surroundings and generous hostess. Best greek breakfastpossible. A peaceful oasis 4km from airport and Chios town. Rooms smallbut comfortable
