Reviews for Kent House Bed and Breakfast

Review 1:Nothing about which to complain.

Review 2:Friendly, helpful owner. Warm room pleasingly decorated. Good-size bathroom with large walk-in shower. Delicious and excellently cooked breakfast.

Review 3:ALWAYS would like more coffee and milk in room! (Wherever we stay) Slightly disappointed to get tinned not fresh fruit for continental breakfast.

Review 4:Clean and attractive house, very comfortable bed, friendly and in good location with countryside views from all rooms. Don't let the fairly busy road outside put you off--the rooms are at the back and wonderfully peaceful. Friendly owners. Full English breakfast was excellent and gluten-free bread available.

Review 5:only a comment, very dark when arrived fairly busy road entrance could be better lit by lighting, but in no way a criticism

Review 6:very welcoming property clean quite and comfortable great breakfast

Review 7:Bathroom lighting was on a timer so the light goes off after a certain time then comes on again which means one might be bathing or sitting on the toilet in darkness briefly. Location was very near Leeds Castle but at least a 20 minute drive out to Maidstone town to get dinner. Limited nearby places to eat at night. Breakfast was ok but it would have been nice to have a bit of fruit with the cereal, and yoghurt in addition to the milk provided.

Review 8:Room was comfortable and free parking was within the premise.

Review 9:Nothing.

Review 10:Warm and friendly welcome. Clean and comfortable room, Good hot shower. We were not able to stop for breakfast, but the menu looked spot-on. Having stayed in Maidstone 3 times now, this has far been the best and will revisit when next passing this way.

Review 11:Warm welcome from hostess. Clean comfortable large room with luxury bathroom with roll top bath. Full English breakfast available if required. Would definitely recommend a stay here. On site parking.

Review 12:Nothing the owners could of done but a house party in the house opposite kept us awake till the early hours of the morning.

Review 13:The room we chose was lovely big and spacious. Breakfast was lovely.

Review 14:Made very welcome on arrival,Staff very helpful the bed was great I need one of these at home.Lovely breackfast. Stayed there on Friday night went to a wedding on the Saturday and went back on the sunday,Fab

Review 15:The staff were the best I have ever meet. They were kind, caring and very helpful. Thank you Just one thing need to put hand rails for older people in the bathroom.

Review 16:Upon our arrival, after we drove 300 miles, this B&B cancelled ourbooking. We had 2 separate bookings on consecutive nights. I have ratedit based on our first night experience (See review for "VeryDisappointed".)

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Beware, even if you guarantee a booking, it might not be honoured upon your arrival as happened to us. Also, the water kettle was dirty filled with orange particles and had to be rinsed many times to clean; the shower stall had mildew though minimal; the English breakfast was good but the coffee was terrible, and the B&B was not friendly or welcoming. For almost 5 months, we had guaranteed 2 separate bookings, one for 30 July and another for 31 July. Upon arrival at the B&B on 30 July, the B&B owner informed us she gave our 31 July booking/room away less than one hour earlier. The B&B owner stated that she had called booking.com that day to ask about the 31 July booking and booking.com told her we had cancelled it. We told her that we never cancelled it and showed her our guaranteed booking confirmation. The B&B owner stated her records showed that it was guaranteed also yet she still gave the room away. Booking.com stated that they document all phone calls and that the owner first phoned them on 30 July at 7:02 England time which was after our arrival not before as she stated. Booking.com stated they confirmed to the B&B owner that we had a reservation for 30 July and another one for 31 July, and both were still good but the B&B owner informed them that she was overbooked and unable to provide us a room for 31 July. We did not agree to the B&B cancelling our reservation but she was unwilling to honor it. She did phone another B&B about a room for 31 July but the other owner wanted cash only so we declined. The owner of Kent House should have called the party who she claimed she gave the room to just minutes before before our arrival and offered them the alternate location since we had guaranteed the reservation for almost 5 months and had arrived after a 300 mile journey. The owner never apologized for not honouring the 2nd night booking.

Review 19:Hard to like anything when 2nd night guaranteed reservation wasn't honored.

Review 20:Would have benefited from a better clean as there were a number of spiders and bugs in the room and around the doorway which was off putting. Also the check in time of 4pm and check out by 10 am was severe I thought and not giving a lot of time in the room for your money. Sometimes when travelling you don't want to rush out packed showered and all by 10am. Also the staff would benefit from a friendly smile we felt like they just wanted us in and out.

Review 21:The room amd bathroom were spacious and well furnished.

Review 22:The b&b was on a very busy road, walk to Leeds castle was a little scary at times wouldn't do it with small children, other than that there is nothing there you are in the middle of nowhere with one pub,

Review 23:The stay overall was very nice lovely views to the back of property, great breakfast, Leeds castle within walking distance, great country pub for meals

Review 24:We loved this place, the double superior room was gorgeous, great view of the countryside from the balcony, very comfortable and peaceful. Karen was very welcoming and the breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommended.

Review 25:There are a few marks on the walls which could do with a freshen up

Review 26:Karen was a lovely host, very welcoming. The room was big, really well equipped & clean. The breakfast was lovely - fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The whole place looks well maintained and welcoming.

Review 27:Not a bad experience by any means, just one or two things not quite right, eg the landlady never introduced herself, and was not around when we left, on time. Also all the spare laundry is on full view in reception, which makes it seem like a rear entrance, so nothing drastic but it needs a bit more attention to detail.

Review 28:Contemporary and modern styling in the rooms. Very easy access arrangements. Lovely views across open countryside.

Review 29:Booking.com needs to include the full address of the property. Manyguests get lost trying to find the place, as we did! A huge waste oftime. It is located in Leeds Village not Maidstone!!!!!

Review 30:Very peaceful and quiet. Relaxing and nice staff.

Review 31:The owner. Where do I start... We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights months ago for my wedding which was near by. The b&b advertises as a wedding friendly accommodation and I booked the bridal suite for 2 nights plus another room for my parents. We were welcomed as the wedding party by an older lady on the Saturday who was lovely but on Sunday morning, my wedding day, an older man came into my room when we were preparing for the wedding and without explanation demanded me and my bridesmaids "leave" and that we "can't get ready here" he then went on to say he didn't know it was a wedding booking, absolute lie and I have emails between me and his wife. He accused my bridesmaids of using the showers which again was nonsense, they just came over to get there hair and make up done. All the other guests in the b&b checked out at 10am, my girls arrived after this time. He said he didn't want us parking in the grounds incase his next guests arrived early. I said isn't check in at 4pm? But if you want us to move the cars on the street we will. Anyway it went on and on, we were only there a couple of hours and he absolutely ruined my wedding morning. Totally disgusting the way he spoke to my photographer and bridesmaids. I will be telling everyone to avoid this place if they are a wedding party.

Review 32:The room was gorgeous and you cannot fault that

Review 33:The owner (man) was angry that my daughter had her group of bridesmaids there before leaving to go to the wedding and was shouting at them.

Review 34:The room was really nice

Review 35:This is a lovely small bed and breakfast, with very friendly staff and excellent facilities. It is very quiet and I enjoyed three nights of deep sleep (unusually for me), after delicious suppers at The George pub in the village.

Review 36:Nothing to dislike. Be careful not to miss the turning onto drive as its by a blind bend

Review 37:Friendly owner met us at the door. Took breakfast order. Checked in.shown facilities& room. Spotless. Fab position for our visit to Leeds castle a mile or so away.and the owner even dropped us off as local taxi companies most unobliging. Lovely clean modern room.nice breakfast

Review 38:Maybe if possibe having a small fridge in the room.

Review 39:Even though we was only there for an overnight stay it was perfect for wgat we was looking for. From checking-in, the room and cleanness everything was perfect with a beautiful breakfast to finish our stay. Would definately stay or recommend here as a prefect stop over.

Review 40:We stayed in one of the larger rooms and it was very nice. I have read other comments and we had no issues with WIFI as mentioned by others. They offer a full breakfast, which looked massive but I skipped on. The car park can be tight but when you pull in just reverse so you can drive straight out. Nice pub up the road with real people.

Review 41:A beautiful room, spotlessly clean, with wonderful views. The owners were very friendly and the breakfast and breakfast room were excellent. We will definitely stay again.

Review 42:We couldn't control the heating which seemed to come on overnight too hot at night & cold during day

Review 43:Nice clean , large , quiet room. With everything you need

Review 44:Wifi very poor in Room 2 (ground floor). You have to choose what you prefer for breakfast the day before but probably you can get more on the same day (we didn't ask though). Minor point, the quality of the coffee wasn't great (only filtered or in powder): a proper coffee machine would be beneficial.

Review 45:Large and clean room, very peaceful place for a break with garden view. We would definitely come back.

Review 46:Firstly We were not informed properly about the breakfast. There is no option to have fried egg and poached egg together..!The land lady entered our room without knocking while we were actually in the room and no excuse or a word afterwards. We were not really politely said we need finish having shower as there are others. It was around 25 min for both of us!someone came to our room put some signs on blue tag in bathroom while we were away from the room. The instant sachets of coffee and sugar were not topped up. Not nice weekend also around grumpy land lady.

Review 47:The room was clean.

Review 48:This is not a criticism of the B&B......... But take care coming outof the car park onto the narrow road! Visibility is restricted.

Review 49:Friendly owner, great room, great breakfast.

Review 50:Attention, it's at Leeds, not at Maidstone... due to postcode that's not the same system in France... difficult to find at 10 o'clock in the night...

Review 51:Endroit agréable et très bien tenu

Review 52:We weren't provided with bath towels, which I am sure if we had asked for we would have recieved. Nothing to complain about at all.

Review 53:Our room was beautiful, peaceful, calm and relaxed environment with really helpful staff. Breakfast was great and we wish we had been staying more than one night!

Review 54:Car parking was extremely tight given the number of parked cars and the tiny area in which to turn around in. No WiFI was connectable.

Review 55:Value for money.

Review 56:We stayed at Kent House B & B, for 1 night we found it very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated and friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent. Would definately recommend

Review 57:bathroom was a bit small and not much to do at night except go to the pub down the road

Review 58:The location was good, staff was great, breakfast was very nice and room was really clean.

Review 59:Parking bays very narrow. Difficult if hotel is full. Self service breakfast if you are early away needs more choice.

Review 60:Stunning location . Quality fitments

Review 61:Love everything here sooo much except the location. The room is clean and cute providing warm atmosphere! It is the homemade breakfast that impresses me most. Both the look and the taste are excellent! However, it is a little bit far away from the nearest station. It will take you around 1 hour to walk there from the station. If you intend living there, make sure you call a taxi in advance!

Review 62:We had real trouble finding it as there is more then one Upper Street around Maidstone. Booking .com should provide the proper address on the voucher: Upper Street Leeds/Langley. Althoug a nice modern shower room with rainshower, there was no handshower, so had to do a handstand to get washed properly. On arrival there was an overwhelming smell of cooked cauliflower in the entrance hall.

Review 63:A spacious room with a lovely bed and a nice modern shower room. We could walk down (10 minutes) to the village for a pub meal in a traditional old pub. A nice cooked breakfast except for the black pudding that tasted more of grain than of meat. May be it was the vegetarian version? Not far from the motorway so a good place to stay overnight to break up the journey.

Review 64:There are only two things I would improve: - The wifi signal was very poor in my room. - Although the breakfast was excellent, I missed having fresh fruit available.

Review 65:The bedroom was the executive bedroom, with French decoration, could not have been more charming. Fantastic views from the window! The room was really clean, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Both en-suite and room big. The staff were really nice, approachable and into every detail. The location of the hotel is very close to Maidstone, but in a quiet area so perfect for a good night sleep or a romantic and quiet stay. I would definitely recommend this B&B!

Review 66:Didn't like the noisy occupants of room next door who kept us awake for hours from 3am. Not the fault of the owners I know but irritating even so.

Review 67:Very central for our needs, excellent breakfast, rooms comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful

Review 68:We stayed in room 5, very nice and plush with fab en suite. Breakfast was amazing. If I had any little tip it would be some instructions re the 'help yourself' tea/coffee and cereal bit as we didn't know if we were supposed to wait or just get on with it, otherwise fab

Review 69:We were 20 minutes late for breakfast (which ended at 9am, a bit early for the morning after a Christmas party) and had to settle for cereal and coffee despite ordering hot breakfast the night before.

Review 70:The B&B was very close to George Inn Leeds Village (not Maidstone itself) where we met friends. Room was nice and large and good value despite minimal breakfast.

Review 71:Bed was uncomfortable. Walls paper thin. Which isn't great when the owners have the TV blaring out till almost midnight. Other half didn't sleep at all until they finally called it a night. Staff were pleasant enough, but didn't once ask in the morning how our night was. Even on leaving, not much more than a 'cheers'

Review 72:Good location Price Good breakfast and tea/coffee

Review 73:We made a last minute booking and our first thought was to go to a Travelodge but we are so glad we found Kent House. The room, amenities and breakfast were high quality and actually under cut Travelodge! They were really good value for money and would be my first choice for repeat visits.

Review 74:The bed was rather hard. Low hot water pressure in hand basin. Unable to get BBC radio on tv. Unlit roadside sign to the B&B.

Review 75:The shower. Breakfast. Friendly staff. Decor. Well situated for access to Leeds Castle.

Review 76:There were no negatives here

Review 77:Lovely room and friendly welcome Very comfortable bed Beautiful clean facilities Within easy walking distance of an olde worldy pub serving excellent food One of the best breakfasts we have had

Review 78:Just to be picky I would say just needed a couple more extra milks & coffee sachets for the room, but I find most places offer the same amount. Think I just like to drink a lot of coffee but honestly it's not a huge issue the stay was great!!

Review 79:Lovely location for leeds castle, about 30 mins walk. A village pub half way between the b & b and the castle for a swift one to keep you hydrated

Review 80:Terrible people in the room next door. Shouting and fighting all night .obviously not the fault of the owners who eventually called the police at 5am to have them removed. Although not much support to myself who was alone and quite scared ! Not very much of an apology in the morning and certainly no mention of a reduction. A cup of tea or a reassuring word would have been appreciated after the police had gone !

Review 81:Good food, clean, pleasant owners, good quiet location, parking.

Review 82:Check-in and out times a little restrictive although I accept that we could have paid extra on top of the £70 b&b cost for more flexibility. No heating on in bathroom in the morning.

Review 83:Particularly liked being able to select actual room we would be sleeping in. Bed very comfortable. Lovely cooked breakfast. Off street parking.

Review 84:The only thing is that the sink in our twin bedroom was very narrow and made doing your teeth and keeping over the sink hard work. This a very small point. I would still stay here again.

Review 85:The breakfast was very good and are twin room was very nice. This is a very good place to stay for visiting Leeds Castle.

Review 86:Nothing!

Review 87:Location - on edge of fields, fairly rural Decorated like a hotel so NO brown carpets or melamine anywhere in sight. Lovely breakfast Comfy beds Easy access Parking

Review 88:no toilet roll holder.no hand towel holder.radiator paint peeling off neads repainting.wardrobe doors squeak.no hairdriyer in room.more three star than four

Review 89:nice breakfast.quiet.easy parking.nice and clean.nice out look at back.very convenient for leeds castle

Review 90:More choice needed at breakfast time Felt quite impersonal - very'clinical' feel to the whole experience. No one to see you offat the end of the stay despite ringing the bell and waiting. Appeared tobe somewhat annoyed we had arrived late when check in was until 10pm andwe arrived at 8.30pm. We had no way of informing them or any details toinform them.

Review 91:Clean and excellent location Good wifi Nice rural location

Review 92:Noises (loud snorting) of guest in room above could be heard; thin ceilings?

Review 93:Spacious bathroom. Off-road parking. Very nice breakfast in pleasant breakfast room. Ideal B&B close to Sissinghurst Castle Garden.

Review 94:The attentiveness of the owners was wonderful. The location was ideal - well situated for experiencing the Kent environment. The room and facilities were top notch. The breakfast was great.

Review 95:Friendly, relaxed atmosphere; lovely fresh eggs for breakfast; liked the butter marmalade and jam in proper pots not sealed little sachets; good varirty of food for breakfast; cleanliness; thoughtful care from all the staff. Just what we needed when attending a family funeral a long way from home.

Review 96:A lovely B&B, rooms are beautifully appointed, especially Room 2, and of course, a great breakfast. Owners directed us to a local pub for dinner, just a short walk away, which was very nice, and reasonably priced. All in all, a lovely weekend break. Thanks

Review 97:A great place to stay. Room was well appointed with excellent sized bathroom. Window in room was rather small, would have prefered more natural light. Breakfast was super.

Review 98:Shower (electric) Far from shops etc Difficult to reach Downstairs room is very noisy (you literally hear conversations from rooms above and breakfast room) I prefer a breakfast buffet where you can take what you feel like Quite a few hairs in shower that were not mine

Review 99:It looks nice Comfortable bed

Review 100:Being greeted as soon as we arrived. Being upgraded without extra cost. Pleasant personality of owner. Peacefulness. Very comfortable bed. Excellent cooked breakfast served with a smile.

Review 101:Room 2 could do with a blind on the bathroom door, for privacy when sharing with a friend (not partner) and for the sunlight coming through in the morning.

Review 102:Comfort, space, outdoor patio, breakfast

Review 103:Excellent service with an e-mail to facilitate a late check in. Room was very clean and tidy and the breakfast excellent. Good Wi-fi connection as well.

Review 104:Customer service when booking and during stay. Garden access from the room. Lovely bathroom. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in.

Review 105:Wifi login a bit of a challenge. Sign in the room asking for excess rubbish to be taken away seemed a little petty. Shower pressure in room 1 dropped so went cold. Couldn't unlock bathroom window for extra ventilation

Review 106:Great breakfast! Very fresh eggs from the on site hens. Plenty of parking. Very good decor and lovely airy breakfast room. Spotlessly clean.

Review 107:We arrived late without issue, they were very accomodating. Breakfast was incredible. The room was comfortable. Great stargazing. Good stop-off point for a trip to Dover.

Review 108:The room was a little on the small side, nowhere much to put things except the floor.

Review 109:The welcome we received, and the friendliness; the cleanliness, the facilities available, the outlook. Like being at home. Lots of effort put into making you feel welcome.

Review 110:light of bathroom swithed off automatic shortly no fan when use toliet

Review 111:view

Review 112:Nothing we didnt like

Review 113:Friendly welcome. Room warm and clean, good breakfast. Well situated for touring Kent.

Review 114:Staff were lovely, very friendly and accomodating. Room was perfect, modern, fresh and clean. A beautiful hotel and surroundings.

Review 115:The lady who greeted us was very helpful .

Review 116:No shaving point in bathroom Restricted visibility on exit from driveway

Review 117:Guest lounge Good cooked breakfast Comfortable bed

Review 118:Very nice place to stay with excellent host.

Review 119:Very nice breakfast. The room was clean and warm.nice comfortable stay

Review 120:None

Review 121:It was a lovely place

Review 122:Check out 10am is not convenient!!
