Reviews for B&B Maison Gaudin

Review 1:Furnishings in the lobby were a bit "tired" but the place was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 2:The location is great. It is within walking distance of some wonderful restaurants and the main part of town. The hostess is quite sweet and had great recommendations for nearby restaurants. Good value for the $.

Review 3:Nothing. Perfect.

Review 4:The whole of the guest house is charming, decorated rustic and stylish. Food excellent choice. Bed, bathroom so beautiful. Even the dog and cat are as welcoming as the owner, Bernadette. Perfect location in old town centre.

Review 5:Very little!

Review 6:Lovely house, very tasteful decoration and some beautiful antique furniture. Very central location. Excellent breakfast. Very nice host.

Review 7:Advertised as having tea & coffee but nothing in the room. Continental breakfast as expected however some change of menu items when staying for more than 3 nights.

Review 8:Good size room. Good bathroom and plenty of hot water. Garage parking a bonus in this location

Review 9:This is a house full of character in the heart of old Cognac. Parking could be a problem but we were given every assistance on arrival and guided to a nearby public car park. Our room was cool and spacious overlooking the pretty courtyard and pool. Excellent breakfast

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:A delightful place with interesting decor in a fantastic location in Cognac. Also secure parking available for our motorcycle in a locked garage a few steps away from the property. Owner was a delightful lady and very helpful.

Review 12:The position was central but calm and quiet, so exactly what we like. Parking was available and the decor of the house was charming. Nothing to fault - everything to sing its praises.

Review 13:none

Review 14:Very friendly, the hostess brilliant, a gemstone nestled in the heart of Cognac. I would be selfish if I didn't share the experience of our 4 night stay in the hotel. Will stay again*****

Review 15:It was a lovely period house full of character and charm. The breakfast was very good with a few lovely individual touches. The house was very centrally located, every thing was within walking distance.

Review 16:Excellent guest house in the heart of the old town. House restored and furnished in quaint style of yesteryear. Inner courtard with swimming pool. Friendly welcome by Bernadette.

Review 17:We didn't like to leave this nice house!

Review 18:We liked everything - mistress of the house, ambiance in home in the middle of historical old town, tasty breakfast, patio with little pool and flowers and at last but not least - our friends (I have suspicions that they are friends of everybody) - Aston and Fluppy! Merci à tous! Nous reviendrons!

Review 19:Location is superb, parking can be arranged or free street parking nearby, swimming pool and courtyard an absolute bonus and decor is fascinatingly quaint and artistic.

Review 20:The hosts were a little aloof compared to other French BnBs that we'd stayed in around the same region, but they were friendly nonetheless.

Review 21:The rooms are enormous; the house is something out of the 19th century and has been tastefully maintained that way.

Review 22:The pool was freezing!!!!

Review 23:Location on the edge of the old town in tiny streets , mini French Chateau decor, although my room was spacious and contemporary, quiet, peaceful, lovely breakfast, pretty garden and pool, 4 min walk to Martell and Hennessy

Review 24:Despite the vast bathroom the shower was tiny, but the water was hot and plentiful so we managed to overlook it. Our room faced the street and the dustbins were emptied daily and woke us up.

Review 25:Absolutely gorgeous house. Everywhere you look is something to please the eye. The rooms are huge.

Review 26:The location to the centre of town was good for our needs. The rooms are very individual, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The proprietors were very welcoming.

Review 27:Nothing - we loved it all

Review 28:We were offered a choice of rooms - shown 3 & alliowed to pick which one we wanted - all rooms were huge with huge bathrooms - decor was quirky & great

Review 29:NOTHING

Review 30:Everything especially the lovely proprietor who had used her incredible artistic skills to create a mini Chateau. An absolute gem in the heart of beautiful Cognac. Can't wait to return.

Review 31:Great welcome and the garden with pool was especially good on a very hot weekend in Cognac. Choice at breakfast was one of the best we have ever had.

Review 32:no parking in front. It is in the middle of the town with little roads to reach the place.

Review 33:the owner was very kind. Everything taken care, and very cozy. Perfect for a vacation, but very warm and welcoming for a business trip.

Review 34:Up two flights of stairs to strange loft type room with enormous bathroom. Bed firm but not overly comfortable. Heating kept clicking in and out all night. View over courtyard detracted from by algae rich pool that needs ckeaning or emptying.

Review 35:Location. Easy to find and private garage available at Euros 3 extra. Walkng distance of all key amenities. Nice breakfast. Welcoming owner and Westie dog.

Review 36:Would have liked some fresh fruit at breakfast.

Review 37:Lovely furnishings and decoration in keeping with this nineteenth century villa. Spacious, well-equipped rooms and friendly, unobtrusive hostess. Breakfast fresh and appetising and typically French.

Review 38:Very nice place with excellent, quiet and peaceful location in the town. Amazing owner, agreed to wait for my very late arrival in the night and got up in the middle of the night (~03:30) prior to my departure, so that I could have breakfast. Exceptional service! Room was very nice and tidy and the bed was also very comfortable. Good parking possibilities (free public parking) very close.

Review 39:Wifi is a bit shaky, at least in the up-stairs room we had. It worked fine and with reasonable speed for a while

Review 40:We liked about everything about this B&B. Chosen on location and recommendations we found a very friendly hostess and a truly charming, quiet and comfortable accommodation. Also our special needs were taken into account very well.

Review 41:It has been the most unusual and spectacular place I have ever stayed - in a historical building, "adaped" to modern standards with a huge amount of small decoration that created the ambiance of an aristocratic residence. I enjoyed many little things: the tiger-shaped carpet, the view from the window at the numerouse red tile roofs and a small swimming pool, a chimney, an old wooden wardrobe and an antic mirror in the huge bathroom. I enjoyed freshly baked croissants and fresh orange juice at the breakfast, cooked by the hostess and served in a beautiful dining room. We liked the location - we could walk through the narrow streets of the old town. We liked the place so much that stayed for the second night.

Review 42:Cognac itself a little disappointing, the cognac houses themselves closed when we were there.

Review 43:Room Breakfast The owners friendly and helpful attitude Cleanliness

Review 44:Old houses do not have sound insulation. So you have to accept and relax.

Review 45:Charming decoration retaining old fashioned features. Friendly host. Comfy bed. Quiet room overlooking garden.

Review 46:Very friendly host. She made a lovely breakfast in the morning. The house is beautiful, you wouldn't expect it from the outside, as the fassade is simple but with a very inviting red door!

Review 47:Wifi was temperamental on the night I stayed.

Review 48:Lovely B&B, beautifully decorated in French style. Owner Bernadette is very charming and helpful. Room was lovely overlooking the pool and spotlessly clean. I would recommend without any hesitation. A haven in Cognac.

Review 49:Maison Gaudin is a beautiful and charming house right in the heart of Cognac. All the big cognac houses are only minutes away. The service is personal, friendly and very helpful. I got help finding parking for my car. My room was perfectly lovely and breakfast is nice.

Review 50:Maison Gaudin is very quaintly French, each room is a joy and reflects the lovely lady who looked after us so well.We enjoyed an excellent breakfast, a five minute stroll into Cognac and secure parking.

Review 51:Not a 'negative', but for the first time in my life I was glad that I had a sat-nav to find my way around the narrow streets and one-way system to find the house - parking is on the road nearby, and we managed to move our car closer to the house during early evening.

Review 52:We stayed at this charming B&B during a touring holiday to France in 2014. We could not have been more fortunate in selecting this venue for our overnight stay - a warm welcome, helpful advice about where to eat locally, a good-sized room with en-suite, Wi-Fi, clean - and the oasis of the swimming pool behind the house!! Cognac was well-worth a lengthy 'explore', and the house is ideally situated for this. We would definitely plan to return if we are in the area again!

Review 53:Difficult to find

Review 54:Very pleasant host

Review 55:The place was quirky but great fun

Review 56:location, style

Review 57:Good location. Hostess was very helpful. Secure parking. No need to drive once settled.

Review 58:A kettle etc in the room would have been nice, but to be fair it doesn't seem to be the norm in France.

Review 59:Everything

Review 87:Decor, comfort.

Review 88:location with an amazing oasis garden with pool, in the centre of Cognac

Review 89:The one way systems which made Maison Gaudin difficult to find.

Review 90:Very french and very comfortable. Find this little gem and be happy.

Review 91:Great welcome into someone's home. Decor very interesting. Super breakfast. Lots of space and privacy.

Review 92:Shower extremely small. Very irritating church bells every 1/4 hour as it was so close! Cold croissants/baton.

Review 93:Central location.

Review 94:House too old and need to repair

Review 95:Nothing not to like!

Review 96:Large, beautifully decorated room Tasty breakfast Pretty garden with pool Central location Welcoming hosts

Review 97:Swimming pool Beautiful aspect room quality linen on the bed

Review 98:Difficult to find especially with so many one way streets in Cognac

Review 99:Lovely old house in the middle of Cognac. Large rooms

Review 100:It was a little difficult to find with the one way streets in Cognac but once there well worth the effort.

Review 101:The classical French chic decoration of our room. The beautiful owner with her warm and friendly welcome. A great location very close to the city centre

Review 102:No tea or coffee facility in the room and wasn't offered a drink I had to ask. Didn't speak hardly any English and made me feel that I should speak French. It was not me opening up my home to tourists! We do not normally stay in B & B and I do not think we will again. I felt like an intruder in their home! Tracy Hastings

Review 103:I liked the house and location

Review 104:Nightmare to find as right in centre of town with many one way systems, without SatNav difficult to locate

Review 105:Really unusual place. Owner very helpful. Very central

Review 106:The B&B is in the old town of Cognac, excellent location. Both our room and bathroom were large and charmingly decorated with many details. The courtyard was nice and cozy with several seating. We will gladly return again.

Review 107:During our stay the pool was not available. The town is not a great destination but good for a welcome stop over on the way south.

Review 108:Beautifull rooms and great location. The breakfast was simple but delightful. The location was good in the centre of town with easy parking 5 mins from the hotel. Very nice staff and relaxed ambiance. Quite a discovery! We loved it.

Review 109:A very warm welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble for the owner. Our room was spotlessly clean and importantly a very comfy bed, the bathroom big enough for a dance and plenty of hot water.

Review 110:It's a little difficult to find, in the end we just parked the car and walked, but that's not the fault of the hotel just the town itself and its narrow streets.

Review 111:The hotel is only 30 metres from the town centre but is on a quiet little road so you have no traffic noise at all. The pool's fab and the owners are lovely.

Review 112:A very nice B&B in the very centre of Cognac. The room we had was nice. When we arrived we were served coffee in the small but nice garden were there also was a swimming pool.
