Reviews for Limes Hotel
Review 1:No bad experience but we felt that the staff could do with some training. It felt a bit amateurish at times - charming but odd. The exterior could do with some attention, especially at the back where the weeds were thriving and cigarette ends littering the entrance. We left some pills behind which they promised to send on to us and didn’t.
Review 2:The bed was comfortable and the water hot, always a good sign. The hotel is right in the middle of town, so easy to explore, with the bonus of being easy to get to the A14. Our dinner was delicious and the breakfast was too. Plenty of parking spaces.
Review 3:Friendly, helpful staff. Bedroom recently reappointed and good. Public areas a bit tired but recently changed hands so maybe the next area to improve. Food good and good value.
Review 4:We found a cup in the bedside table drawer that had gone mouldy. Also the hotel phone in the bedroom did not work. When I reported this to a member of staff she said 'yes it was the same last week, when I was here!' The hotel could do with a total redecoration. Hotel staff need to up their game.
Review 5:Thought the hotel was rather quaint with beams and very uneven floors! we didn't time to explore the town of Needham Market, but the hotel is in a very good position for this activity.
Review 6:On arrival, was told to wait 5 minutes while room was checked. 15 minutes later get into a very hastily made up room. Bathroom hadn't been cleaned, hairs & glitter on floor, used soap on sink, toilet not flushed, bin not emptied & sanitary bag placed by bin, used glass left on bedside table. Wifi was intermittent & slow at best of times. Sash window in room didn't open. Then, terrible night's sleep, could hear snuffling, snoring & sneezing from other rooms, then best of all, at 5am & every half hour clock tower bell chimes from across the road. Breakfast was awful. Inedible rubbery fried egg, mushroom bitter from being over fried & possibly reheating.
Review 7:Room could be comfortable if clean & quiet.
Review 8:Very friendly, helpful and obliging staff.Comfortable bedrooms and an excellent freshly prepared breakfast. We have visited 3 times now and have not been disappointed.
Review 9:water only luke warm for shower. Breakfast table not laid, had to ask for side plate, salt and pepper and butter and jam. coffee luke warm and had been standing for some time . radiator cover fallen off wall in bedroom .
Review 10:nice hotel friendly staff .
Review 11:Cleaning of bedroom very poor,no bins emptied no bath wased out no toiletries replaced.no shaver point in an otherwise lovely bathroom
Review 12:Very friendly new staff, excellent location for getting about, good large carpark.nice lounge for a drink.
Review 13:There was a a large number of us for breakfast and the staff tried their best but we had to ask for several things. Knowing there was going to be a lot of people more staff would have been good.
Review 14:Friendly staff and clean rooms.
Review 15:Very little
Review 16:The Room was really comfortable with tea and coffee making.the bed was very comfortable. The staff was really helpfull.Breakfast was fab.So all in all we would stay there again.top marks.
Review 17:Stayed for charity dinner event ,only problem was slow service at dinner tables as it seemed to be under staffed
Review 18:Room 7 refurbished and very comfortable with large modern bathroom
Review 19:There was intermittent hot water while showering. I believe the new owner of the hotel was in the process of fixing the problem.
Review 20:Lovely large, clean and bright family room.
Review 21:Room 8 was very small for a double and needs another table and chair as one bedside table was used for tea/coffee making facilities. There was only one light above the bed - although with the lack of one bedside table this was inevitable. The new owners would do well to brighten the bars up a bit and renew the dirty, worn carpets and dark decoration.
Review 22:The staff were exceptionally helpful and professional although some were very new to the hotel. The Chef should be given his head with the menu as everything we had was very well cooked and presented. Although the heating did not come on until 7pm when it did it was very comfortable. The provision of toiletries was a bit hit and miss but the quality was good.
Review 23:First room was very noisy from above, the kitchen extractor early and noisy. We were moved with no problem but our shower was out of action offered a change but managed with bath only.
Review 24:Our second room was lovely very modern large and comfy.
Review 25:Room was freezing when I arrived late in the evening - windows wide open, radiator stone cold. I asked for a heater at reception and was eventually given a tiny, utterly filthy little blow heater that didn't work. I went back to reception (and now it was getting quite late and I'd been driving for 4 hours) to ask for heat or another room. The staff, although pleasant, obviously have no decision-making authority so I was told they'd have to ring the manager to ask his/her permission to turn the heating on! Eventually this was done and by about 10pm, the radiator came on. I was then woken at 2.45 am and again at 4.00 am by shouting, swearing and banging along the corridor. No idea if that was guests or staff.
Review 26:Free parking.
Review 27:It took ages for any hot water to come through in the bathroom which was annoying when you have a baby and need to do things quickly!
Review 28:The family was really nice - big and comfortable with a nice big bathroom
Review 29:Just a small criticism, a little maintance detail to address, Bath panel had come adrift in the En-suite.
Review 30:Great location & quirky layout that only comes from an old listed building. Very friendly staff & nice breakfast.
Review 31:A friendly and helpful welcome. Although the hotel is an old building the bedroom was modern & comfortable the en-suite was spotless & could not be faulted. The English breakfast was very good & all produce was freshly cooked.
Review 32:Bed comfort not great. In family room only 1 proper bed, 2 other beds were only unstable stretchers. At diner not all items on menu were available. Quite expensive room for what you get.
Review 33:Good breakfast. Nice size room. Parking spaces in front of hotel.
Review 34:The shower ran out of hot water, and on arrival we asked about an iron but that never materialised
Review 35:The room was lovely and bathroom looked new really nice
Review 36:I thought for £85.00 a night we would at least get breakfast but we didn't
Review 37:What a lovely quaint place, we loved it! Would definitely stop here again. Staff were very welcoming, room was spotless couldn't fault the hotel on this part
Review 38:Very noisy on main road, v average breakfast, bit ragged in places (carpet held together with tape in main entrance). Breakfast room v 80s. Could do with updating.
Review 39:Beautiful large bedroom, friendly staff.
Review 40:There is some road traffic noise at the front of the building but it didn't disturb my sleep.
Review 41:The bedroom was clean and bright with a high quality en-suite bath and shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delivered to my table in the excellent restaurant. There is a large private car park for guests.
Review 42:the church opposite the bells chime every 15 minutes right through the night which is not great for a good nights sleep. Would benefit from double glazing to reduce bell noise,
Review 43:lovely clean freshly decorated room very helpful staff large car park
Review 44:Driveway needs re-surfacing due to large potholes. Shower in room 7 was either very hot or very cold no adjustment (needs a new thermostat)
Review 45:Friendliness of staff and ease of access to local amenities and facilities.
Review 46:Good size room, Free wifi Friendly and attentive staff Good food Even better if shower had worked on arrival and been fixed quicker, but nice bath
Review 47:Unfortunately there was no cook available to cook breakfast. Staff member did her best but breakfast was overall unsatisfactory. Room not ready when we arrived.
Review 48:Visit too short to comment.
Review 49:We liked the size of the room and clenliness of it also we had our 2 year old grandson with us and you looked after him with his breakfast at no extra cost for which we thank you
Review 50:As it was very hot, we would have liked the offer of a continental breakfast.
Review 51:Pleasant, helpful staff. Clean and hospitable. Good breakfast. We dined in one evening and the food was very good.
Review 52:Not a bad experience but the picture did not represent the facility and main area of the hotel was a essentially a rundown pub. I had two fairly senior suppliers with me and I was embarrassed
Review 53:The bedroom was excellent and clean Food was reasonable and it was ideally located for my purpose. It was good value
Review 54:TV cable was broken and didn't get fixed. Wasn't given any directions to room. No wifi in room is a real bummer. Bed was very hard.
Review 55:Beautiful building, carpark, nice location, nice decor in the rooms and restaurant.
Review 56:Hot water took 10 minutes to come through for the shower. Hotel didnot take amex
Review 57:Pleasantly surprised by the decor of the room which had recently beendone up. The back entrance into the hotel was mediocre at best and theoverall decor was tired and dingy.
Review 58:Terrible breakfast and breakfast service. Particularly bad when only two people in the restaurant. Hot water takes an age to get to the shower head. Not good value for money.
Review 59:Nice staff but all new with no real supervision. Rooms are clean.
Review 60:Staff were rather inexperienced and sometimes needed prompting to provide basic breakfast requirements. Coffee was cold.
Review 61:Lovely old building, full of character and set in an historic village. Staff very friendly and obliging at all times. Delicious breakfast on the whole.
Review 62:The staff although friendly were not very experienced in dealing with customers. The restaurant and bar menu had limited availability of items. As the hotel had run out of a lot of the main courses, the excuse given was that it was a Bank Holiday. Nothing else open in the town on a Sunday evening.
Review 63:Rooms were clean, tidy and the bed was very comfortable. Car Park at rear is nice and large with plenty of parking.
Review 64:Kept awake by the bells if the church opposite - if you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back .
Review 65:Lovely room , modernised well but still quirky . Great breakfast , but the restaurant had run out of 2 of the 5 main courses in the menu .
Review 66:only thing negative i can say, is hotel furniture and decorations a little dated in places, seems as though on going refurbishments occuring.
Review 67:friendly staff, clean and comfortable and sizeable room and en suite. very warm and cozy. great location within the town. evening bar meal very good.
Review 68:The entrance to car park was very narrow.
Review 69:Very interesting old town and close to Stowmarket where our family live and a much quieter place to stay when we are visiting. The food was good both for our evening meal and breakfast.

Review 72:no bad experiences
Review 73:very clean and a very frendley wecome, the rooms are so clean and brite, with all the little extras, food is very good, will stay here again.
Review 74:The only slight hiccup was the lengthy wait for breakfast as there was apparently a large group elsewhere, so had to wait about 20 minutes for my food which I then had to rush through.
Review 75:A lovely little hotel where the staff were so friendly. My room was beautiful with everything I needed. The ensuite bathroom had been recently redone, was lovely and clean and modern with nice toiletries provided. Great choice of food for both evening meal and breakfast. Far better than the usual chain hotels.
