The family-run Pension George is in Karterados, just one mile from Fira, or a 15 minute walk. Surrounded by grounds with exotic plants, cacti and flowers, it hosts a swimming pool. The nearest beach is a 10 minute bus ride away.
Rooms are bright and airy, each with a bathroom, fridge, safe and air conditioning. Most have a balcony and satellite TV. The studios additionally have a kitchenette and can accommodate up to 5 people.
Breakfast is available upon request and can be served on the terrace or outdoor courtyard. Coffee shops, restaurants and mini markets are within easy walking distance.
Free transportation from the port or airport is available upon arrival, and free parking is available right next to the hotel. The hotel hosts will be happy to assist guests with ticket service, guided island tours and car or bike rentals.

Review 1：Friendly people. Helen and the staff at Pension George made us feel very welcome. The pension was well organised-modern ,clean rooms,large pool shaded breakfast area. It was great to have such safe transfer from the port /to the airport-thank you Dimitri.

Review 2：Our room was in the basement even though we had expected a room with balcony. But actually it was nice, cool and quiet and you could hang out in the nice garden, pool- or reception area.The room also had a kitchenette to make your own food

Review 3：We arrived 4 oclock in the morning and Dimitris picked us up in the airport. He also drowe us to the port when We were off to another Island. Just ask a few days before so he can plan it. The environments were beautifull. The reception area and the shady garden were you could enjoy your breakfast etc. The very nice pool and poolarea. And as promised om booking.com Helen was very nice. It was easy to walk to and from Fira within 10-15 minuts. Helen can tel you the direction.

Review 6：Fantastic breakfast in the little garden close to the pool.Very quite area compared to the noise of fira but just 5 min walk from the bus stop. Mini markets and restaurant in 2 min walk. They came to pick us up at the airport at 3 in the night.

Review 7：Breakfast was monotonous, needs to be changed about, cereals, toast etc & some faint background music would be nice. Cleaners VERY noisy, slamming doors at all times. Shower head was loose, towels & sheets need conditioner was laundered as very stiff! Room was sparsely furnished, need more furniture in them. Noisy quad bikes in general area.

Staying at Pension George made my holiday more special. They also provided transfer from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the port for free! That was great!

Review 14：Helen and her family make every effort to give their guests an excellent experience in santorini, and it shows. We were picked up and dropped off at the ferry, Helen readily provided suggestions for restaurants, excursions, and navigating the island. The rooms are beautiful and clean, and in a quiet town just a ten minute walk from Fira city, the location cannot be beat.

Review 22：It was a gem I a find, ideally located to explore the island. Quiet with lots of local facilities and good eateries. The island bus service is merely a few minutes walk and the island capital is within easy walking distance. It is a tranquil peaceful environment with with a friendly and very helpful and knowledgable staff. The transfers to and from the airport or the port is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.

Review 26：We stayed at Pension George in a double studio for 3 nights at the end of July. The room was spacious, having a mezzanine level where the bed was situated, which gave a lot more room in the kitchen/dining area. The kitchen was well equipped and suited out needs perfectly. There was also a nice balcony overlooking the pool. As the other reviews have stated, the room and hotel in general are very clean and well kept. The staff (Helen and her family) are very friendly and more than willing to help with any questions relating to Santorini/book daytrips etc. The pool area is very relaxing with plenty of sun loungers and was never too busy. There is a small local supermarket only a minute or so away and a bakery only slightly further up the road. The walk into Fira takes 10-15 mins and although slightly uphill it’s not challenging. Perhaps in the mid-day heat you might like to take the bus instead as we did on one occasion. The bus network on Santorini is good and we found all the main tourist destinations easily accessible. The bus stop is only a few mins walk from Pension George, on the way into Fira. We took a boat tour to the volcanic islands, hot springs and had a sunset view of Oia. We booked through Dakoutros Tours and can recommend the tour. Dakoutros are also the agents on Santorini for many of the ferry companies. If we go back to Santorini we would definitely stay at Pension George again and will recommend to family and friends. Pension George is great value for money (partly I think because it is not in Fira, which as I have said is not an issue) and a great base for exploring the island. They also offer free collection/drop off at the airport/ferry terminal which is a nice touch.

Review 27：Pension George is a beautifully run family accommodation. Each person went out of their way to guide me to a restful, simple and yet interactive island holiday. With fresh figs off from the garden each morning with breakfast, it's truely a traditional Greek experience. Everyone was helpful, gracious and kind... Don't miss out on the gem!

Review 28：Might be good to add a few parasols for a bit more shade around the pool. Mattress in my first room downstairs was hard but not firm, so not that comfortable. Preferred room upstairs -- brighter and mattress more comfortable.

Review 29：Helen and George and their daughter Vivi and son-in-law Dimitris are lovely people, so helpful and kind and patient. It's no wonder people return again and again. Accommodation is quite basic, but Pension George is a quiet, peaceful retreat away from the rest of crowded, often-noisy (motorcycles, quad bikes everywhere) Santorini in August. Well-located just outside Fira (only one bus stop away) and all buses except the Oia bus pass through Karterados. There are some quaint little tavernas in the village and some good bakeries, particularly Erokritos, the traditional Cretan bakery up on the main road. Would recommend Pension George to others looking for simplicity, cleanliness, tranquility and warm-hearted hospitality.

Review 30：Unfortunately, our room was a little dated and could do with a modernization. If you have back problems like one of us, you might find the beds and mattresses not comfortable. We walked a couple of times from Karterados to the town of Fira and back to the hotel. It's a 25 minutes' walk to the centre of Fira. Even though there's a footpath for most of the time, it's not a nice walk, also because it's a very busy road. We found the €1,60 bus a welcoming alternative.

Review 31：Pension George is a nice hotel in the little (quaint) village of Karterados. Its pool was nice, Helen made lovely breakfasts and she and her family were happy to give us advice on day trips, what to see on Santorini and they organised our transfers from the port and to the airport. The pension is very close to a bus stop, which is strategically located for exploring the island.

Review 32：Everyone at Pension George is so helpful and nice, especially Helen. They arranged to pick us up from the airport at 3:30 in the morning and dropped us off at the ferry at the end of out stay. Helen is so knowledgable about the island and the best spots to eat, beach, and watch the sunsets, and was always available to answer all our questions and help us in any way she could. The location is perfect, not a bad walk into Fira and a great hop off spot for the other main attractions to the island. Overall, wonderful stay.

Actually it's very hard to catch except in very specific locations. 15 minutes of walk from Thira (but that can be seen as a plus) Taking a shower soaks the whole bathroom (but that's typical of Greek hotels) No shampoo. Would have been nice to have a cold water bottle in bedroom upon arrival.

Staff (family members) extremely helpful and kind. Close to bus station and traditional restaurants (cheaper than Thira). Review 53：Pension George is run by a family who take such great care of their guests. For instance they picked us up at the port when our ferry came in at 1:00 am and dropped us off at the airport and port when it was time to leave--with no extra cost! Karterados is a 15 minute walk to Firos --but if you are interested in the people of Santorini--Karterados is where many of them live. There are great tavernas--Savas is one-- close by that are cheap and have amazing food. We toured the island everyday but each night we went back home to Pension George and our neighborhood of Karterados.

Review 54：The wifi connection wasn't good in all the areas of the pension. The beach is a little far from the Pension but easy to reach as well with with pubblic tranpostation.

Review 55：Pension George is a very nice, comfy, warm and relaxing place. The swimming pool is perfectly positioned. It is very close to Fira, capital of the island. Next to the pension there is a supermarket, bike rent, restaurant and bus stop. The staff is friendly and really helpful, available any time.

Review 56：I wouldn't bother with the 6euro breakfast. It's continental which means bread, jam, yoghurt & coffe/ tea. There is a mini mart around corner or up the road a little restaurant you can get eggs etc for same price. Pillows are very flat and bath towels very rough!!

Review 57：Location was quiet and away from crowds of tourists in Fira. Only a 20 minute walk to Fira or 5 minute bus ride. The little village has retaurants if you don't want to go to Fira and of course cheaper! Helen the owner is an English woman married to a Greek so her English is perfect which can be handy!! She is also very helpful regardinf tours etc and they are very accommodating regarding pick up and drop offs to port or airport for free. The pool is lovely. I had a little studio that had cooking facilities if you really wanted to budget.
