Reviews for Domaine Quai des Pontis

Review 1:Bring your own tea and coffee none provided in the room.

Review 2:Loved the cabin with views over the river absolutely stunning location. Good range of choice for breakfast too. Cabin was cosy and comfortable definitely best choice of room. Simple but lovely.

Review 3:We had the cabin over looking the river, such a beautiful spot to enjoy a glass of cognac. The cabin was cosy and comfortable and the hotel only a short walk to town

Review 4:We could not fault the hotel in any way, and would only recommend it to other travelers.

Review 5:Wonderful location, we had one of the two riverside cottages and wished we had stayed for 2-3 nights. Truly one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. I must say that the welcome and introduction we received upon arrival was one of the best we have ever received, at any hotel anywhere. The lady who welcomed us did a fantastic job. We can only recommend this hotel very highly.

Review 6:Yelp didn't show this hotel so it was a bit difficult to get to.

Review 7:The lady at the front desk went out of her way to book us a tour of a cognac house. Her restaurant suggestion was perfect also.

Review 8:Small room for 4 rather cramped, tiny bathroom.breatfast was a farce no clear tables and slow service.

Review 9:Excellent location fab surroundings peaceful location unique hotel close to lovely town easy walking distance. Warm welcome on arrival.

Review 10:The hotel is set in beautiful grounds, with a swimming pool and games room. We stayed in the lodge and our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the gardens and river. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is well placed for getting into the town.

Review 11:The other receptionist was incompetent: gave wrong directions instead of just saying she didn't know, printed out the bill wrong at least 5x, broke away from checking us out to spend several minutes with a call that came in. It took us 1/2 hr to check out when it should have taken 5 min. and we wound up late for our cognac tour.

Review 12:We loved having a little private terrace in the back to look at the stars and chat. The room was also really nice: sophisticated rustic. The breakfast was great. The outdoor cafe was good and in a lovely setting. Finally, the main receptionist was terrific (unfortunately she wasn't always there).

Review 13:The suit was most enjoyable

Review 14:The lodge was awful. It smelt of damp wood. There were lots of maintenance jobs to do especially in the shower room. The metal stairs was incorrectly fabricated and provided only a short step going. The lodges are all wood construction and I wonder if they would meet UK fire regulations.

Review 15:Only thing would be to have some complementary coffee in room.

Review 16:The most amazing view from Our cabane, the children where amazed. Stunning location with beautiful grounds and pool.

Review 17:The shower in the room tends to leak all over the floor no matter how careful you are.

Review 18:Friendly receptionist and a good variety of food for breakfast. Perfect location for short walks to the cognac houses and restaurants but also very quiet at night for a peaceful nights sleep.

Review 19:*only one thing to watch out for if you are traveling in a car with very little ground clearance is the entrance to the private parking. We only have 100mm clearance but this was overcome by removing our luggage and passenger, but it's well worth the effort to stay in this hotel.

Review 20:Everything..............Riverside location, Air conditioned room, Friendly helpful staff, Parking*, gardens, breakfast.

Review 21:Surprise ant problem, but immediately given another room. Staff dealt with it perfectly.

Review 22:Staff were amazing, setting was beautiful, rooms comfortable.

Review 23:We were in one of the cabins on stilts, amazing position overlooking the river and really close and convenient to walk into the town centre. Self catering facilities were basic.

Review 24:The breakfast - on account of the fact that there wasn't any! We arrived in the breakfast room around 9.30 in the morning and there was nothing there and no staff (or any other guests, for that matter). So we went somewhere else.

Review 25:The room was fabulous - we chose The Suite, modern and decorated in black and silver. The rug, however, would not lie straight and was quite dangerous (we rolled it up and put it on one side). The Nespresso machine was a plus and the location brilliant. Probably a fantastic place in the summer when you can sit outside on the bar terrace or by the river, and use the pool.

Review 26:Having to pay for coffee pods to use in the room, and then no instructions how to use the coffee machine ! The large plastic Rhino head over the bed was not to my taste

Review 27:Nice position by the river in this lovely town. The room had a balcony which was very pleasant

Review 28:gate locked when arrived. could not get in for several hours. no staff available most of the time no coffee or tea left in cabin bed against a wall--difficult for partner to get out of bed room very hot when arrived bar had very restricted hours

Review 29:cabin overlooking river

Review 30:Rather basic sleeping alcove, with no lights above bed for reading. No bedside tables for lamps etc. Lack of space in general. Could not get tv to work.

Review 31:Beautiful view over river from cabin. Peaceful, calm setting with swans and ducks. Well-chosen decor.

Review 32:Nothing!

Review 33:What is not to like? Wonderful location, central yet feels like you are secluded, great facilities and spectacular room! Pool was wonderful as well on a hot summer day and you are walking distance to restaurants, cognac houses, everything!

Review 34:Breakfast - tried breakfast on one morning of the stay but was disappointed by what was supplied. Hotel need to make more effort over this aspect of service delivery as we did not return for a second morning so they lost income.

Review 35:Location -easy access to center of Cognac. The view from balcony first thing in morning and early evening over a bottle of red wine.

Review 36:nothing to dislike, and believe me we are fussy!!!!!!

Review 37:Easy to find and set in a fantastic location, we had one of the cabins over the river and Wow absolutely stunning views, very peaceful and a pleasure to sit outside and just watch the wildlife. five star staff, lots of safe parking and a very easy walk to the old town and shops! the complex was of a high standard and very clean and tidy and although the breakfast was continental style there was plenty to choose from. we would not hesitate to book here again and would highly recommend.

Review 38:On site restaurant just starting up and a little limited - should be good in the future

Review 39:Beautiful grounds Peace and tranquility Very attractive room with balcony overlooking the garden Lots of car parking space Right in the centre of Cognac Friendly staff Good breakfast

Review 40:Location perfect, people lovely and beautiful surroundings. We stayed in a cabin overlooking the river and it was simply fantastic we will definitely be returning!!

Review 41:The fact that the bar stopped serving hot meals by 9.00 p.m. in the middle of August, but there are plenty of alternative restaurants a short walk away.

Review 42:The caravan is very pretty and quite large, with comfortable beds, t.v; etc. Nothing to complain about. The staff were informative and interested in our well being.

Review 43:Stayed in one of the cabin rooms. Well appointed and spacious, with the balcony/terrace a nice touch in the middle of summer. Staff were very pleasant and helpful!

Review 44:The shower was cramped despite there being enough space in the bathroom for a bigger one (and neither of us are large people).

Review 45:The location is perfect, just across from Cognac's old centre. We were in a 'roulotte' - a cosy and fun concept. The privacy was great and the room was comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Review 46:Location was perfect t- 5 minutes to Hennessy and 10 to the city center.Staff was really nice ,giving information ,restaurant suggestions and booking the Hennessy tour with a 2 for 1 discount. Room was cosy and with a balcony overlooking the garden and the river .Quiet , silent and peaceful place. Parking available.

Review 47:Very nice and clean place ,lovely surroundings and location.Very good value for money. And the staff speak english or at least try!! Safe parking.Lovely bakery nearby with delicious breads and pastries!!

Review 48:Roulette was not cleaned properly. Kitchen bin still full, outside area very tatty and garden table and chairs filthy. Bed in room on a high platform needing steps to reach and surrounded by wooden walls.

Review 49:Nothing really.

Review 50:Sometimes staff is a bit absent... But we did not perceive it as a real problem

Review 51:Location is great to start discovering cognac village center. Breakfast is good for french standards. Rooms are clean and pleasant to stay. It is an old paper factory converted to lodge. It has a small scale charm to it.

Review 52:Expensive for small family run hotel Service at dinner was slow and erratic due to large party in private dining room who took priority. Did not have enough staff to deal with number of dinners.

Review 53:Setting Style Quality Only staying overnight so did not test Sa Facilities.

Review 54:Fabulous surroundings - trees, grass; grounds of an old coach house, stayed in cabin..tranquil, nearest cabin is 20m minimum away..quiet at night, woke to birdsong...very restful. Well equipped cute wooden cabins, good wireless. Reception attentive, pleasant. In cognac for blues passion festival week. Highly recommend quai de pontis for access to the main centre- 10 mins max sllow walk across the bridge...henessy, martell distillers within 10 mins walk also. Fabulous place, compared to many I have paid more for, with less satisfaction.

Review 55:plenty of space and good carparking

Review 56:Nothing bad to say!

Review 57:Very unique and comfortable place! Our room felt like a rustic-chic wood cabin! Delicious breakfast inclusive.

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:We had a cabin overlooking the river. Fabulous morning view. The receptionist was fantastic when booking a cognac tour.

Review 60:Lot of things appeared to be closed/closing for end of season

Review 61:Site was very peaceful and close to centre of town.

Review 62:The location was very good. Different hotel like sleeping in a log cabin.

Review 63:Lovely area!

Review 64:Very efficient friendly staff, cabin was clean, very comfortable cosy and situated in lovely setting by the river.

Review 65:2ond stay at this hotel. Great cabane over the river.

Review 66:Bedroom space with bed up against a wall

Review 67:Lovely cabins on the river.

Review 68:Nothing.

Review 69:Everything.

Review 70:air con was not working when we arrived.

Review 71:Very close to the centre and within easy reach of good restaurants

Review 72:excellent place. Stayed in a roullote with my elderly father - we both loved it!

Review 73:Very spacious and clean room, nice staff. Handy location.

Review 74:Cosy feel about the place & handy for the centre of town.

Review 75:Location was good

Review 76:The lighting in the room

Review 77:The entrepeneurship, close walk to city of Cognac, some very good resturants

Review 78:Quietness

Review 79:breakfast could have been better

Review 80:pretty much everything

Review 81:beautiful peaceful very zen cabane

Review 82:We stayed in one of the rooms in the gite and they have been re-done and are very stylish.

Review 83:Enjoyed it all.

Review 84:Location. Enjoyed

Review 85:Staff were excellent, location was great and the accommodation was very nice indeed.

Review 86:nothing

Review 87:everything

Review 88:The breakfast was a buffet but by the time we got there (and we were not late) the coffee, milk and fruit salad had run out and the dining room was a mess with the used tables left uncleared.

Review 89:A lovely quirky hotel right by the river. The staff were really friendly and made a great recommendation for a restaurant for dinner. They also had bikes for hire so we cycled around Cognac which was a great way to get around the town.

Review 90:The room was very comfortable. We had a balcony overlooking the beautiful garden and the river. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made dinner reservations for us and scheduled tours to Hennessy and Martel. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

Review 91:Breakfast buffet was very sparse for €9. Really need to improve it with cut up fresh fruit, some muesli, more than 4 slices of ham and cheese.

Review 92:Location was excellent, just a short walk across the bridge to the old town of Cognac. Gabby in reception was very helpful in booking a nice restaurant for my birthday dinner, and also reserving us a tour at Hennessey, with a discount. Room was clean and modern with a Nespresso coffee maker, and they brought us milk for our fridge. The grounds were lovely and quiet while we were there.

Review 93:Hard to find anything we did not like. There is some construction going on, but it was no problem for us.

Review 94:Five star treatment by staff. We stayed in a cabin on the river. Beautiful views. We awoke to the birds singing in the morning. At night we sat on the balcony and watched the ducks and fish right below us. The cabins were roomy and well appointed. We liked the hotel bar, and they offered to bring drinks to our cabin, which was a ways away. Same with breakfast. When we mentioned that we were going to Hennessey, we were given a coupon for 50% off and Hennessey treated us as special when they found out where we were staying. Wifi in our cabin was great. TV reception was good, but we couldn't find any programs in English (maybe that's good because we watched nature and read. They are constantly upgrading the already appealing grounds. Great venue for a party, meeting or wedding. In a few years this will be acknowledged as a five star facility. Free parking on the premises. We hope to return.

Review 95:Great location right by the river, just over the bridge from the Hennessey Distillery and a 10 minute walk from the old town of Cognac. There were several restaurants within walking distance and 2 boulangeries within 2 minutes to get fresh croissants in the morning. The chalets were lovely, all wood panelled and very clean and new.

Review 96:Nice garden and river view, big room with terrace, calm place. Lady atreception was friendly and obliging. The hotel is located at oldfactory building

Review 97:I loved our stay in one of the roulottes. It was freezing cold outside but the heater worked perfectly. The bed is comfortable and the kitchenette has everything one might need. Just a short walk from downtown Cognac.

Review 99:The hotel is taking shape, and so the guide is very sparse, so we missedsome amenities (lke the hair dryer, which is under the sink in adrawer). Ironing board is available if you ask. You have to buy coffeefor the in room coffee maker. €1 per cup, but you have to walk to thereception area and hope it is open. All minor annoyences compared to thevalue and location.

Review 100:The room was very comfortable, and the staff was very helpful andknowledgeable. They recommended a wonderful restaurent that we returnedto for lunch the next day. The grounds are very nice, it's by theriver, and walking distance to the city center.

Review 101:A beautiful riverside setting giving a feel of the countryside, but just minutes walk of the beautiful town of Cognac, wished Icould have stayed more than 1 night

Review 102:Space a little too tight for stays of more than a couple of nights. Bad sound insulation so lots of noise from guests in room above ours. cabin equipped with nespresso machine and fridge but no cups, glasses, plates etc

Review 103:We stayed in a log cabin, spotlessly clean and comfortable, lovely outside deck overlooking garden and river. Air conditioned, the staff were lovely

Review 104:friendly staff, good facilities, breakfast, right on the river with short walk into Cognac centre, good chalet style accommodation in converted buildings

Review 105:Only a minor point but the rooms are nicely done with pine and could get a bit creaky with people walking around above and next door.

Review 106:A nicely done converted mill rooms are spacious with separate bedroom/living area. Air-con was a welcome relief. Located in a nice area next to the river Charante. 10-15 minutes walk into Cognac.

Review 107:No where to store clothes/luggage

Review 108:Cosy, comfortable roulette. Great to self cater. Pool to cool off. Close to city. Plenty of grass/open space around us. Hennessy tour across the bridge!

Review 109:Flat pack accomodation. Like sleeping in a rabbit hutch with Ikeafurniture. No sound insulation with neighbouring hutches to the side andabove, nor separation between bed/living space. Bathroom as on ferryor cheap motorway motel but twice the price. Breakfast 9 Euros - noreduction for kids - but there is a great bakery just next door. Firsttime in 6 years I have been disappointed by Booking.com!

Review 110:Walking distance to Cognac.

Review 111:The price for breakfast seemed a bit high, although since we did not avail ourselves I cannot definitively judge whether or not it was value for money. There is an excellent bar/cafe and boulangerie within easy walking distance as an alternative.

Review 112:We stayed in one of the lodges with separate bedroom, and terrace overlooking the garden. Very comfortable and convenient, with the added bonus of very efficient air conditioning - essential, as temperatures were in the mid 30's during our stay. Overall, excellent and comprehensive facilities.

Review 113:Bit disappointed missed the roulotte we had booked because booking.com email to site wasn't as clear as it could have been - but lodges were good

Review 114:Accommodation was great and location for town centre was superb

Review 115:Loft rooms offer no insulation (from heat/cold or noise). You can totally hear the neighbors coming and going, doors shutting and the like. You really need the AC, which fortunately works fine and is not too noisy. The fridge in our room was not working.

Review 116:Very nice, friendly staff. Good restaurant recommendations! It takes a 10 minute walk to the center of town, whilst making you feel you are in the country. The grounds are really pretty, over the river with a lot of greenery. It feels very, very peaceful there. Carpark is free and safe. The Lodge room is quite spacious. Breakfast was quite good, and the outside breakfast space is really nice, and a great way to start the day. We really enjoyed staying at Quai des Pontis, and would stay again.

Review 117:Nothing to dislike!

Review 118:Beautiful setting by the river, accessibility for local attractions, staff were very welcoming an helpful. A fairly new place (an old factory site refurbished as ` cabin ` accommodation and very well done.

Review 119:Currently not fully fitted, still some work being carried out

Review 120:Excellent location, close to river and centre of Cognac Grounds of the complex are excellent and well maintained Very relaxing environment

Review 121:Breakfast was poor for what they charged. They should do better.

Review 122:A hotel built on the site of an old factory, what a concept! Very nicehotel in a prime location. Walk to Otard, Hennessy, Martell,City Center, etc. Very friendly owners, everything was new. The hotel surroundingsare peaceful and invite relaxation.
