Reviews for Innkeeper's Lodge Maidstone
Review 1:The pub just seemed messy and shabby ie used cutlery and plates left on tables for upto 20 mins whilst no one say there. Used pint glasses stacked on a table by fireplace, I even sat there after ordering because there was no other tables free... No one collected the glasses until 40 mins later when my food arrived... The new staff just don't seem to cut it
Review 2:Food is good. Enjoyed it more my first visit than the second.
Review 3:Location - very close to where I needed to be for work event. Friendly staff and good basic room, with a bit of character. I wanted to stay somewhere other than a chain hotel, so this was a good alternative.
Review 4:Hairs in the bath , dirty marks in the bathroom and shower full of yellow rusty limescale. Some DIY work to be done .
Review 5:Overall good location and nice looking pub/restaurant . Staff very nice .
Review 6:Wifi free but requires you to give the provider (O2) your mobile number - not something I'm willing to do. Bathroom not properly clean - evidenced not only by look but by previous guest's conditioner left in shower.
Review 7:Friendly staff, good sized room. Spacious and attractively decorated room used for breakfast. Reasonably quiet given that it is a busy pub near a roundabout.
Review 8:We would have like to see a hotel which had cared for the building a little more. Bathroom toilet not clean, toilet not flushing well, doorknob to room falling off. Breakfast tables not clean after last eaters.
Review 9:Very nice building with history. Cosy feel in the lounch and pub, close to town.
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:The staff at the inn made us feel comforable on our arrival we had also book a meal for that evening with friends the meal we had was value for money and the service by Chris our waiter who was polite and very professional
Review 12:Tired and dirty bathroom Gaps in sash windows (cold) Ladybird (insect) infestation Staff were too busy to serve lone diner
Review 13:Not a great deal to like to be honest
Review 14:Shower head did not fit properly on the wall mounting. Just a little more attention to maintenance would be appreciated - but nothing serious.
Review 15:The staff were brilliant. Excellent evening meal. Comfortable bed, and peaceful despite being close to a main road.
Review 16:Accomodation was a little dusty. Mismatched fixtures and fittings for example taps on sink in bathroom. Items appear to have been replaced as and when required without a thought to matching with items/furniture already in the room. cracked tiles on bathroom floor had been taped over with hazard tape rather than repaired? Having said the above it did not make our stay any less enjoyable. Due to our starting time of work unable to take advantage of breakfast option after first day
Review 17:All staff we spoke to were cheerful, efficient, attentive and very helpful. Food was value for money good quality well presented and tasty. Parking with a large van was easy and had huge appeal as it was offered free for overnight guests. Relaxed atmosphere very welcoming. Easy to locate for out of towners.
Review 18:"Breakfast included" but not full breakfast. Rooms a rather worn.
Review 19:Central location, could walk fro the railway station. nice restaurant/bar.
Review 20:We thought that the room was a bit darty and dusty only thing that let the room down
Review 21:We like that it was close to town and that the room was a good size and staff were friendly
Review 22:Lovely homely, comfortable, cosey accomadation very, very clean and tidy and the staff were fantastic. We were staying because we were lucky enough to get tickets to see Jools Holand's Later show being recorded and the studios were just 10 minutes away by car. The location was also very close to the town centre, just a few minutes walk away. If we ever travel to Maidstone again I would definately stay again
Review 23:The bed wasn't particularly comfortable (springs in the back etc). Shower was just a dribble, but warm. Nothing major.
Review 24:Good location for Maidstone studios (5-10 mins by taxi - £7). Bar available and good size rooms. Good choice for breakfast included.
Review 25:the size of the rooms my party had were much bigger than we expected. Both bathrooms were fantastically clean and had plenty of hot water. Being on a roundabout didn't create any detrimental noise and the food in the restaurant was excellent. All the team working the night we were there were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
Review 26:certain features were not functioning correctly with regards to our first two nights which we reported regarding our original room and the room change was to enable them to correct these problems..So were more than happy to change our room.
Review 27:When we asked for a room change we were moved to one becoming available on the last two night's of our stay.
Review 28:quaint old building with creaky floors and strange layout. Rooms are above the restaurant and check in is at the bar which could be an issue when they are busy. Room was snug but adequate for one night. The bathroom was small with WC basin and bath with shower over. The shower screen leaked a little. Plenty of tea and coffee provided and biscuits. Staff were pleasant but service in the restaurant was slow( I had to seek out a server). We obtained a reduced rate which made it reasonable value. The car park could be an issue as it gets very full all day and is pay and display but hotel guests park free if you give car reg. A good base for a stop over on the way to the channel or for visiting Maidstone. Yes we would go back.
Review 29:breakfast, I judge an English Breakfast by the sausage it serves and to be blunt Vintage inns should know better to than to serve cheap budget range sausage, while offering far better on their lunch and evening menus
Review 30:The room , it was spacious, very clean and well kept
Review 31:Only dislike was step in bathroom. I did say I had elderly mum with me when I booked. Thought this was a bit dangerous
Review 32:Every member of staff was polite and helpful.
Review 33:I expected a full english when I ticked breakfast which is offered inevery other hotel I stay in complimentary they told me I had to payextra on top of the £70 for the room - not acceptable no proper aircon??? Just a feeble fan come on uk hotels every hotel in the usa hasproper air con and cool rooms in summer -its time the uk hotel industryupdated. Bathroom was dirty and rubbish in room with somethingdisgusting on a tissue on the floor!
Review 34:Room was pleasant but poorly located and no lift as I have a damaged legand had to climb three floors with bags. No offer of help from anyone.
Review 35:The bed was a little too soft and the noise from the pub downstairs/clearing away kept me awake.
Review 36:The room was lovely and the facilities were great. Staff were helpful.
Review 37:Premises very "tired" and "well lived in". Very creaky with door banging.
Review 38:Location, very close to the town. Noise from the bar stopped at 23:00 Despite location, very little traffic noise.
Review 39:I had a bit of noice from the road but wasnt too bad. The building is a listed building so they can't put double glazing in. But I didn't get any sleep all night coz of other guests making noices slamming doors, stomping about and talking loud. I was given a refund though and they apologised I didn't get my rest which I didn't see it was their fault but they promised they would do something about it and if I visit again I may see notices around near the rooms. I was pleased then with the service I got they dealt with it very well and ammicably.
Review 40:I loved the size of the rooms nice and spacious, clean and comfortable (although having twin beds stuck together wasn't very comfy.) Food was good and nice surroundings.
Review 41:Stains on the ceiling in room 9 cracked and broken floor tiles in the bathroom.
Review 42:Comfortable atmospher in the restaruant and bar area. Safe parking pleasant outside space.
Review 43:WiFi reception in room not great. Breakfast staff not interested.
Review 44:Good size room (no1) on first floor. Lunch and dinner menus good and varied. Staff friendly. Continental breakfast was good.
Review 45:the quality of the bed was not so good, a wifi system which can only be started if you have a british mobile number
Review 46:first of all the helpfullness and kindness of the staff, excellent location nearby the city centre, tasty restaurant
Review 47:Lighting - bedside lamps had no on/off switches!! They seemed to be only for show!!
Review 48:Location to Miadstone was good - within walking distance, and short drive to meeting place. Comfortable, good food menu.
Review 49:Water marks running down wall behind bed. Hairdryer didn't work remote control for TV did not work, bathroom was dirty no litter bins for t bags etc only small bin in bathroom kettle was dirty a lot of lighting on outside of building so good fitting curtains would have been useful to block out light. At breakfast plates glasses and cutlery were dirty.
Review 50:Door at the top of stairs for the rooms opening towards me when I've got a suitcase !!!
Review 51:Friendly staff variety of beers and lagers and lovely food
Review 52:The pillows were a little too soft for me.
Review 53:We stayed here while visiting relatives in Maidstone. The location was good and you can walk into town via the river. The staff were very friendly. It was much more personal than staying in one of the larger chain hotels. Will stay again
Review 54:As it is a listed building, there is no lift. My room was on the second floor and I found the stairs a challenge. It would be very difficult for a disabled person to stay.
Review 55:The building itself is interesting and unusual and rather attractive. I liked the warm and welcoming atmosphere in the pub and the staff who were extremely helpful. The bedroom was fine, and the bed comfortable.
Review 56:The bathroom was filthy, the suite had been cleaned but not the floor, it was covered in others hairs! The skirtings and fixtures were thick with dust. The shower screen had not been cleaned in ages. It's the one part of the room other than your bed that you want clean. It was so bad it completely brought this hotel crashing to the ground for me. Won't be staying again.
Review 57:Staff were lovely. Downstairs was clean and environment was lovely. Food was good. Breakfast great.
Review 58:Personally I found it a bit noisy but I am a light sleeper. Also the inn was very hot everywhere. We slept on top of the bed with no nightwear and 2 windows fully open although outside there was a sharp frost.
Review 59:The staff were great--although it was an extremely busy evening they remained calm and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. When I asked if I could change to a room with a bath this was sorted immediately and I was very grateful for this. Lovely room, too. On checking out everyone said goodbye & had we enjoyed our stay! Free Wi-Fi was good.
Review 60:When we arrived to book in the staff seemed to just ignore us. They were continuously walking past us, but failed to even acknowledge us. Not a good first impression.
Review 61:Rooms were spacious and relatively clean, though we did have dirty cups and glasses left in the room by the previous occupiers.
Review 62:Rooms a little tired could do with a livk of paint. Upstairs door needs to close quietly as woke me up everytime people were going in and out
Review 63:Location, big room, good tea tray selection
Review 64:Would have been good if toiletries were provided. Bathroom was a little tatty with a weak shower.
Review 65:Great location from train station, really friendly and helpful staff. Huge room - great value for money!
Review 66:There was no shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom and when I requested some we were told they had run out.
Review 67:Loved the restaurant downstairs and close location to town. I personally liked the quirky individual room names.
Review 68:The decoration needs attending to throughout the accommodation areas and in room 2 we had black and yellow tape over broken floor tiles where it would be expected to repair the tiles and not just tape over the damage The bathroom maintenace needs some attention as in the past there had been a faulty tap and had Beeb replaced with a totally different type of tap which looked ridiculous. General maintenance appears to be done by an odd job person who is not very good at any trade
Review 69:Not really a complaint - but I felt that on a Sunday morning the (very good) buffet breakfast could go on a little later than 10:00 am.
Review 70:Large rooms, well furnished, lots of character to the building.
Review 71:Bedroom window sash not working so had to be propped up with a log of wood. Also bed linen from previous visitors had not been removed from the room.Room noisy due to nearbye main road traffic. No lights near mirror in b/room.
Review 72:Staff very friendly, Food was goodboth for dinner and B/fast.
Review 73:Wasn't hugely impressed with breakfast, little choice if you don't like cereal or fruit.
Review 74:Staff were excellent, location also very good for a night out in Maidstone.
Review 75:Friendly and helpful staff (Jo-Jo was happy and smiling of a morning and her cleaning was top notch). Great food with a relaxing atmosphere and in a prime location for all that Maidstone has to offer. Try this place!
Review 76:To pay extra for a full english breakfast, instead of giving people a choice for continental or english. Because continental was allready charged.
Review 77:Close to city center, so you could walk easily into town center.
Review 78:Bright exterior lights (from car-park) penetrated the thin curtains. Noisy fans and doors from below. This was caused by restaurant customers using the toilets adjacent to one of the dining rooms. Wi-Fi (by O2) was alright but the signal was variable and although O2 claimed you only needed to sign in once you were often asked to sign in again without leaving the room.
Review 79:Just a few minutes walk from Maidstone East Railway station. Quick check-in and fast response to minor requirements (box of tissues in bathroom, light bulb in bedside lamp)Large room with three chairs. Good TV. Comfy bed and good bedclothes. Additional pillows and towels for the asking. Continental breakfast choice good. Wide choice of cereals and bread products.
Review 80:Unfortunately we had members of a hen do either side of us tht met in corridor in front of our room to discuss night.throughout night so had a rather disrupted amount of sleep .
Review 81:Good location
Review 82:beds not very comfy but for one night wasn't a problem
Review 83:loved the large rooms plenty of space, staff were very friendly and helpful, housekeeper very jolly
Review 84:Such a shame that the cleanliness in the bathroom was poor. The corners of the floor hadn't been cleaned, I ran my fingers along the woodwork and there was a lot of dust. Just looked grubby and spoiled the whole affect
Review 85:Welcome excellent, Rose who looked after us in the restaurant was superb. Plenty of parking, food available till late
Review 86:There wasn´t always enough water pressure in the shower. There was no way to buy anything to drink from 11 pm to 11 am. The staff was very hard to find between the end of breakfast and lunch time.
Review 87:When the water pressure was on the shower was great. Comfy bed. Nice staff.
Review 88:Breakfast. Generally ok but some over cooked. Airless room - couldn't open windows sufficiently and, when opened (10" max) wouldn't stay open. Poorly maintained bathroom (shower screen dangerously loose!) Shower poor - low water pressure?
Review 89:Friendly cheerful staff. Cleanliness. Location. Free parking.
Review 90:No air conditioning room tiles broken in the bathroom Not enough staffing for evening meal, we left in the end to go to weatherspoons after a long wait
Review 91:Good Location Staff friendly
Review 92:Double bed only had a bedside fable on one side. Asked for quiet room.lots of noise from what I think were staff rooms above ours. Staff were sitting outside in the yard below our room talking and smoking until quite late. There was no chair of any kind in the room. Water coming out of bathroom top was a trickle and brown. The breakfast was a joke. The so called breakfast manager had no idea how to work the coffee machine so coffee was all over the serving table. Only bread was cheap white sliced. The toaster was rubbish. The fruit was old and cheap. The yoghurt was low quality sugary stuff. The Croissants were inedible.
Review 93:The staff were very helpful.
Review 94:Some of the fittings were broken; wardrobe fastened with elastic band and toilet cistern noisy when filling up.
Review 95:Good location and friendly staff. Food & service good.
Review 96:rooms a little tired and a few things not working but staff were helpful in providing alternatives. Towels could be of a better quality
Review 97:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food and service in the restaurant was very good
Review 98:The fire alarm went off and none of the staff attempted to evacuate the building, when questioned about this I was told it happens all the time, a little worrying when you are staying the night. The standard of food at dinner was of a poorer quality than at breakfast. Lots of dishes unavailable by 19.30 on a Saturday.
Review 99:the room was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent. The staff were generally helpful and polite.
Review 100:It was all good
Review 101:I was booked in straight away and the staff went out there way to bring meals to the room
Review 102:Unclean, poorly maintained and slow staff. Very tired run down rooms. Food not great
Review 103:Everything was great except the shower could of been better
Review 104:Lovely staff, very welcoming and helpful. Very spacious room and beds were very comfy.
Review 105:Bathrooms need urgent attention
Review 106:Location staff food
Review 107:O2 wifi very poor mouldy bathroom still
Review 108:HOMELY FEEL ABOUT THE HOTEL STAFF WHERE NICE
Review 109:Location was key when booking and was pleasantly with the hotel was a lot better than the pictures made out. Lovely hotel x
Review 110:Unable to obtain drink at bar after ten thirty pm on Sunday told tills were finished and locked
Review 111:Mainly very good value
Review 112:Staff could not poach an egg because they could not get the water hot enough! Bathroom did not have a toilet brush.
Review 113:Good clean room
Review 114:Youth looking for his father at 4.00 a.m.
Review 115:Excellent evening menu!
Review 116:Bathrooms need updating
Review 117:Location staff value
Review 118:Staff were very good and knowledgeable. Food and beer was excellent
Review 119:Everyone and everything was excellent, even down to wi fi was brilliant. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
Review 120:Shower door went inwards and towards the taps so you kind have no chance of the cold water hitting you at the start!
Review 121:All good staff helpful
Review 122:Value for money Good Location Friendly Staff Nice Property
Review 123:Nice large Bedrooms
Review 124:No telephone intercom
Review 125:Couldn't fault anything
Review 126:Food, staff, room excellent
Review 127:Excellent
Review 128:Nice staff Location good Bed very comfortable Good size bedroom Bar food nice
Review 129:Very handy for road links' close to town center. Good food for evening meals slightly expensive.
Review 130:The bed was terrible and the bathroom was in a very poor state of repair.
Review 131:The Staff, helpful and always smiling
