Reviews for Harrogate Brasserie Boutique Hotel

Review 1:No lift etc.. you have to go through the restaurant with your bags to get to the stairs up to the rooms..

Review 2:Pictures were a bit deceiving.. and I think it was quite expensive for a pub/Restaurant accommodation. Although not unpleasant.

Review 3:The only fault with room was the electrical sockets. When pulling your plug out, the whole socket came off the wall!!! Not just one but two in the room we were in. Unsafe in my eyes however, it could be easily repaired. Parking a little limited, however staff very helpful with trying to solve this and will keep hold of your keys to move your car when a space arises.

Review 4:The hotel was a perfect location for us, staff friendly, great breakfast. There was a mix up with price when I came to settle bill. I was expecting to pay less as per booking but the manager said I booked single occupancy!!!! I had my daughter with me, so why would I book single occupancy. Not sure who's fault that was? on line there was no button for children, I thought I had booked two adults. I won't hold it against hotel, my paper work said a lower amount so maybe website error.

Review 5:Parking was abit tight, but the staff moved the car for us so we didn't have to wait around.

Review 6:Beautiful place to stay,we had an apartment on the top floor and it was amazing. The staff can't do enough for you and made us feel very welcome. We will be going back this year for a longer stay.

Review 7:Creaking wooden floorboards in bedroom. Hand held shower head in bath. Would have expected much better for a £135 per night double room.

Review 8:Food and staff very good, bedroom spacious. Good location.

Review 9:I find it strange that a 'pet friendly' hotel does not allow said pets into the bar. I can understand not letting them into the dining room, but the policy meant we had to go out into the rain to find somewhere to eat that did allow dogs. Perhaps they should mention this in their details?

Review 10:The staff were great, very friendly, room was nice and a good size. Breakfast freshly cooked and plentiful.I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Harrogate.

Review 11:Everything from Accommodation to food in the hotel, couldn't fault anything. Even asked for flowers and champagne to be in the room for our anniversary and all was in hand.

Review 12:More space for a drink at the bar, although this could be the time of year and the place was very busy

Review 13:Location, very pleasant staff, great food, character and homeliness

Review 14:The bathroom only had a bath and shower mixer, a shower would have been a better option for us, but spacious and immaculate.

Review 15:Food, staff and atmosphere excellent. Location was great and the parking was a bonus. All the rooms appear to be furnished differently and to to high standard.

Review 16:The room stunk of sewage. No alternative room or discount was offered. The staff attempted to rectify the problem by throwing caustic soda everywhere!! Very unpleasant. Room looks great but what is the point when you have to leave all the windows open at night.

Review 17:Location convenient for us as exhibition exhibitors

Review 18:booked into double room instead of twin as requested friend spent an uncomfortable night on camp bed staff moved us to a twin room for second night and gave us a free meal as compensation

Review 19:friendly helpful staff great food very central

Review 20:room could do with redecoration outdated, ceiling paper peeling off, nail protruding through wood on floor in bathroom reported to staff.

Review 21:food excellent and entertainment at night very good Staff very polite. hotel position very good.

Review 22:Only criticism we have is we found hair in our cupboard in room, mirror was dirty, also the bathroom floor was so squeaky it was annoying. Other than that we love it. Thought we let you know so you can rectify those issues.

Review 23:We always come here when visiting Harrogate, we love it...

Review 24:Dinner in the restaurant didn't seem quite so good as on a previous visit (my vegetables were over cooked) and the menu less to our liking but it was still an enjoyable evening. The live music finished earlier than expected.

Review 25:The location was perfect for Christmas shopping! We like the ambience of the whole place. Our room was large (but a little dusty) with a good size bathroom and big walk-in shower. Breakfast was good.

Review 26:The bed wasn't that comfortable and whilst the bathroom was lovely my room didn't have a walk in shower, in fact the only option was to stand in the bath and try and shower myself resulting in the bathroom floor getting very wet and potentially dangerous?

Review 27:The overall impression and rooms of the Brasserie were great as was the location. The elegant bathroom was opulent.

Review 28:Will definitely go back. Staff couldn't of been more helpful, properly catered for a coeliac as opposed to removing things off the menu. Room lovely and quirky, very comfortable bed.

Review 29:If I had to find fault it would be that the cleaning of the rooms was not perfect. However the rest was so good I can deal with a little fluff and dust

Review 30:The hotel is in an incredible building. The staff were very friendly and eager to please but not over the top and our room was comfortable and a little eccentric in a good way. Breakfast was perfect we just had fruit and toast but the cooked breakfast looked good too. The location is great for exploring Harrogate and the surrounding area.

Review 31:I had the garden room and my colleagues were in the news. the noise from the kitchen in the garden room and the other person upstairs in the mews was not good. It is a shame when the rooms have been refurbished beautifully they did not sound proof the ceilings. My colleagues in the brasserie were not disturbed.

Review 32:Great position, very quirky, food excellent and the music while you were eating was lovely but not intrusive .

Review 33:it was a noisy night due to the wind but this wasn't the fault of the hotel!

Review 34:Staff were friendly, room was newly refurbished, clean and comfortable and full of character. Breakfast was delicious and served with a smile which is always a plus.

Review 35:Stairs were a bit steep with luggage to carry but it was quiet away from bar area.

Review 36:We liked the warm welcome and the overall friendliness. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The food was excellent.

Review 37:The welcome we received was friendly, help was given with parking the car. The facilities were very good, exceptional for the price we paid. The food choice excellent on the menu and the evening meal ell cooked and delicious

Review 38:Nothing's at all other than the Stairs to the Studio apartment were a challenge but kept me fit!!!! :)

Review 39:Superb Hotel, excellent food great beer quality beer choice. Staff extremely helpful and location in Harrogate is simply perfect for leisure or the Confereence Centre. The Studio apartment is fantastic for the price of a room and fabulous value.

Review 40:5 sets of stairs to the flats. Hairdryer was far to hot to use ,no cool setting. Car park far to small. Leek in the roof when it was heavy rain

Review 41:The flat was well equipped & restaurant was great, excellent service. Staff very friendly.

Review 42:The hotel, although an older type building, nevertheless, as an atmosphere or ambiance that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you enter the building. The food is exceptional and is served by cheerful staff members. To add to the attraction is the live relaxing jazz, {not to loud}, background music, as an accompaniment during your meal. For a relaxing uncomplicated stay, then the Brasserie is a must.

Review 43:Woken by noisy road quite a lot. Fire alarm went off when we boiled the kettle!

Review 44:Great location, great staff, lovely breakfast. Liked the way the hotel and brasserie had its own style - not just a standard hotel. The brasserie food, drink, ambience and entertainment was excellent.

Review 45:Everything. Loved the look of the place as soon as walking through the door. Good night's rest in very comfortable bed. Excellent entertainment. Ian Wallace.

Review 46:Lack of lift, after walking around the slopes around Harrogate I struggled with the stairs. Little mirror in bathroom, was to high for me to use.

Review 47:Great friendly staff from morning service, cleaner to evening meal waiter.

Review 48:My room only had a bath and no separate shower so that was a bit awkward being quite tall.

Review 49:The live music in the evenings was excellent and the hospitality at breakfast was fantastic. Lovely friendly people

Review 50:We really liked the superb, town centre location. The hotel is furnished in a very avant garde way, being both comfortable and interesting. The breakfasts were superb and we are already discussing our next visit to this charming, bijou hotel.

Review 51:Stairs up to Room 11, quite a trek up to our bedroom. Booked hotel only a week in advance - so to be fair, we took the only available room, however as I suffer with a back & neck & hip problem this wasn't ideal for me. This is our 3rd stay at this hotel, and we have been very happy with all aspects, apart from the stairs, however did not complain but would request a room on one of the lower floors. Would have had a meal in the hotel but lady said it we were too late to be served at 9.20pm!! However we have eaten at the hotel previously and can recommend the food!!!

Review 52:Staff very welcoming and kind, enjoyed the jazz band and the ambiance of the hotel. Really nice breakfast always served with a friendly remark and a smile!! Great location very handy for shopping!

Review 53:The food especially evening dinner was excellent, breakfast was ok but the staff who served breakfast were bit odd, but all other staff were more than helpful

Review 54:The room was absolutely sweltering and it was impossible to make cooler. It was difficult to determine where the heat was coming from. Only a tiny window allowed in some fresh air. The person in the room upstairs appeared to have their mobile phone on vibrate and 4-5 times a night a loud vibration from the phone ringing? woke me up.

Review 55:The location was great - just a five minute stroll in to town. I stayed in a newly built annex a few yards from the main building and it was lovely and new and immaculately clean and very well serviced. The woman at reception was lovely and listened properly to my grumbles. The breakfast was good but the fruit bowl would have benefitted from some berries! Bread and butter was delicious!

Review 56:Double bed not comfortable and a bit small for me at 6' 3". Room in annexe across the road and no wi-fi. Noisey part of town on a Friday night.

Review 57:Nice modern accommodation, good food, nice ambience, pleasant staff

Review 58:Everything was excellent. Plug situation in bedroom was limited, only one socket with "precarious" adaptor in it. Otherwise excellent. Fantastic breakfast and a lovely menu for evening dinner

Review 59:Its a tiny fault, but it was pointed out and if you stayed in the Mews you already know.... The shower floor..... May be a curtain I understand the great use of space limits the options but hey its not hard to put a towell diwn

Review 60:Truly outstanding, staff amazing food incredible try and get the Mews it was fantastic thank you The Brasserie Hotel and we sure will see you soon

Review 61:The only thing was our room did not have a shower just a bath with hand held spray attachment.

Review 62:The staff were fab and the food was good as was the location we also enjoyed the on site parking facilities

Review 63:Very nice hotel. Good breakfast. Excellent central location. Friendly staff. Bar has live music on several nights which is a lovely way to spend the evening. The bar serves good food. Would definatley return to stay here again.

Review 64:The only downside was being asked to "wrap it up for the evening as I have already been here for 13 hours" by the young gentleman bar staff . slightly disappointing as it had only just turned midnight.

Review 65:location was perfect as we were attending an exhibition so were in a prime location for walking distance of the exhibition hall.

Review 66:Didn't have a shower in my room - just a bath with a shower hose attached to the taps

Review 67:Quirky, unique and full of personality - a complete contrast to 'vanilla' hotels that are much of a muchness.

Review 68:Room somewhat quirky for price. Shower leaked badly - impossible to shower without water spraying ALL over bathroom! Wood paneling in a bathroom, particularly around tub/shower, is definitely not practical. Narrow staircases but not a surprise for older building.

Review 69:Restaurant - nice ambiance, excellent food. Enjoyable entertainment. Breakfast very good with friendly, prompt service.

Review 70:Room a little bit small and noisy needs sound proofing from noise above. (we were across the road in white building)

Review 71:Very qwerky and in a great location with excellent food.

Review 72:We hardly slept due to what sounded like a herd of elephants in the kitchen directly above our bed.we were advised it could be noisy up until around 10.00 when the kitchen closes which we accepted but were not told it would start again in the early hours or what felt like the middle of the night and so we hardly slept a wink.we would have taken the room offered inside the hote and not the garden room out back when we arrived but felt it was tired and old fashioned. We would not return here.

Review 73:The garden room is nicely furnished with a lovely bathroom alltho very noisy and the breakfast was good too in a nicely decorated restaurant. The location of the hotel is right in the centre of town so not far to walk.

Review 74:Lovely place, stayed in the 3 bed apartment behind the hotel. Warm welcome on arrival, small carpark but we were given disc to park on the street at the back of the hotel. Ate in the restaurant, great atmosphere and good food. Had a lovely nights stay and will stay again.

Review 75:It was amazingly tired. The room was a disaster, not decorated in a decade at least, making it a bit dirty looking and a mess. The walls and ceilings were glossed which I think was to hold the paint on. The building is moving therefore the walls are cracking. Food was ok. Jazz was mediocre. Location was awful. No way this is a 4 star hotel.

Review 76:Wow nothing really

Review 77:N/A

Review 78:Very personal, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was gorgeous and I was made to feel at home. Would visit again if I end up in Harrogate :)

Review 79:Hot water from the tap is scolding hot and perhaps the temperature should be regulated by a thermostat.

Review 80:Very handy location for the centre. Comfortable stay. Friendly staff.

Review 81:There was no lift so as our room was on the top floor it certainly gave us lots of exercise!

Review 82:Excellent stay. Lovely spacious room. Breakfast always freshly cooked and delicious with plenty of choice. Friendly staff. Loved the decor with all the photos of famous people on the walls.

Review 83:car parking difficult initially , due to large number of visitors, but resolved later Bedroom upstairs was a climb for us but I had not stipulated being elderly when booking

Review 84:Friendly Staff, convenient for station to meet others.Reasonable prices for town centre venue.

Review 85:The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and there was no problem parking at the back of the hotel. The hotel décor is somewhat eclectic and there is an easy, relaxed atmosphere about the place but we were not present during the jazz evenings so I cannot comment on how loud or how long the evening entertainment lasted. The hotel cuisine was great and so was its location as it was close to the centre of the town and all the many eating establishments, so we walked everywhere. We stayed in an apartment behind the hotel, so it was quiet and spacious and exactly what we wanted. We all look forward to our next visit.

Review 86:Our room faced the back and was directly above the kitchen and was baking hot! - no fan facility. They were renovating the room directly above us so loud building noise 10hrs a day. I did mention it when we left but they said that they had to get the work done and their hotel was always busy which I understand but I feel they shouldn't have used the room below until work completed. I would have asked to be moved if there for longer stay.

Review 87:Excellent central location for walking round town centre. Car parking facility a big plus. Staff very polite and friendly. Fun unusual 'quirky' décor.

Review 88:Bedroom was tired. Carpet old. Bed was 2 singles pushed together, old and not comfortable at all. Bathroom had carpet....very unhygienic. Having to walk through the main restaurant to the stairs to our room wasn't ideal Soft furnishings old fashioned and 'tired'. More like a B and B, than a hotel. Would stay there again if the description more accurately reflected the quality of the room (number 7).

Review 89:The staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful. A nice informal ambience. The outside of the hotel was quaint and very pretty.

Review 90:All those stairs, 4 long flights with luggage. Saloon style door to bathroom, not great when you're using the toilet!

Review 91:Amazing location, loved the balcony

Review 92:Room was very tired and needed updating. Nothing like the rooms shown on the website, for obvious reasons.

Review 93:Location was good, staff were polite and premises was clean.

Review 94:The location was excellent, hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere, food was lovely, homecooked and good portions with a good selection, staff very helpul, hotel clean. Car parking no problem. We stayed in an apartment at the back of the hotel which was very clean, modern and quiet.

Review 95:I was expecting the room and hotel decor in communal areas to be luxurious, as it was marketed as boutique, but it was a bit tired, especially the carpets. Our room and bathroom were small, badly lit and did not seem particularly clean. The hotel was more expensive than other places we have stayed at in Harrogate which were slightly further away but nicer.

Review 96:The location, as it is right in the centre of Harrogate.

Review 97:Stayed in the garden room, a basement room with continuous noise overhead (the kitchen) from 6 am to midnight. Was booked in for 2 nights, left after 1. No one should be asked to sleep in this room. Booking promised a room with a city view! Explained why I was departing at 7.30 am, nice man apologised for the inconvenience.

Review 98:very nice Jazz session

Review 99:The decor! Loved all the jazz memorabilia etc, but decor needs and uplift.

Review 100:The food was fab, and the canadian barman was so good, he made us right at home.

Review 101:there was a hair in the bed and hairs on the bathroom floor didn't like the swing bathroom doors no shampoo ,soap ,ext supplied ash tray not been cleaned .

Review 102:The location was good. The view from the balcony was nice . The jazz night was a lovely to listen to and sit outside . Been able to check in early.

Review 103:We were in the newly refurbished mews cottage which was lovely, just a little too noisy outside at night.

Review 104:Staff very attentive and customer orientated.

Review 105:Washbasin was partially blocked and took a long time to drain. Breakfast slow to start and not available early at the weekend

Review 106:Unusual furnishing and spacious room Location close to railway station and theatres

Review 107:Hotel is on a busy road, late night traffic, and no lift to upstairs floors.

Review 108:Right in the heart of Harrogate, there was no need drive car, and find parking spaces etc. Staff were all friendly. Live night time back ground bar music, nice to have a meal, and chat, but still enjoy the music.

Review 109:Had a problem with the hot water in Room 7. Were moved to an a very nice apartment, but as we were staying just 1 night would have been happier with a fully functioning room from the start.

Review 110:It was noisy in the early hours with people still out drinking although it was the weekend so week days would probably be ok. The shower temp was erratic but to be fair, the info in the room said they'd had a new water system and to report any problems

Review 111:The location was excellent, the room and bathroom were good and the breakfasts were excellent.

Review 112:On arrival, we were left to wait in the 'reception' (which was the busy corridor outside the brasserie kitchen) before anybody acknowledged our presence. Car parking is very restricted - so don't rely on parking on site. It was suggested we park on the busy road outside or the back street which requires a permit during 9-8pm. We were promised a permit but this never appeared. Bedroom and car parking was not as advertised. Bedroom given was not located in main hotel building but actually in an annexe so you step directly onto a back street to rear of hotel. Very little privacy. We were told to "just close the curtains behind the glass door and window when you switch on the lights so people walking by your window can't see in!" ( the external door onto the street is also located by the door adjoining the en-suite so watch out when you get out of the shower!). There isn't a full length bathroom door to the en-suite, but 3/4 translucent glass doors that are more suited to a wardrobe, leaving you with very little dignity. Bedroom had no storage space- room is not planned with hotel guests in mind. Although we booked breakfast, I was actually ill the next day and so did not get to sample the food. (We were not offered a refund which would have been nice as a gesture of good will.). The impression we received was that they are happy to take your money but are not particularly interested in meeting guests needs. Not a hotel I would recommend.

Review 113:Room was modern and fixtures and fittings were to a high standard. In room facilities as advertised.

Review 114:Dark room bathroom very small wife couldn't,t use bath as she needed a walk in shower informed booking.com but you said didn,t receive instructions

Review 115:Position of hotel and evening entertainment and food

Review 116:The en suite in the first room allocated had a couple of plumbing problems; smelly drains and a leaky shower connection, but we were moved to another excellent room after one night.

Review 117:The staff were charming and helpful. The food was delicious, especially the cooked breakfast. We needed to leave early one morning and were kindly given breakfast at 6 a.m.

Review 118:That dogs couldn't sit inside the bar. But luckily for us it was lovely weather and we could sit outside on the gorgeous patio area.

Review 119:Lovely hotel. We stayed outside the hotel in a 1 bedroom apartment which was 2 months old. It was gorgeous and so handy with having a dog too. Staff very nice and helpful.

Review 120:Felt like I was in a nightclub whilst having breakfast - (atmosphere). Quiet with the odd jaz fan hanging around. Place looked very tired.

Review 121:Staff really nice, very helpful, parking great - let us leave our car in park even after check out.

Review 122:Expected morning noise of foot traffic from kitchens above Garden Room but didn't expect noise of refrigeration overhead all night plus noise of bathwater through leaking downpipe outside door of private entrance. Nowhere to hang up or store clothes. Inconsistent wifi.

Review 123:Great breakfast served with Yorkshire humour. Location perfect for theatre visits and very central. Private entrance to Garden Room off car park at back of hotel. Eclectic decor. Friendly staff.

Review 124:WiFi didn't work very well in my room.

Review 125:Excellent friendly staff. Comfortable, homely feeling. Great food especially the full English breakfast - amazing!

Review 126:If you don't like the sound of the entertainment on an evening avoid room 5. We were unable to access the WiFi in the room so if you need it be aware.

Review 127:Fantasic bed and large room (room 5). Lovely staff and great food. Breakfast first class.

Review 128:we did predict that we will be given the garden room as we were kind of last min booking, and yes you are going to hear the chefs walking a lot during the morning breakfast rush until at least 11 at night! But as we are traveling so we get up early and get in bed around 11 so it doesn't really disturb us. The only drawback of the hotel is the internet!!! It is super slow... And also if can improve the shower by adding a glass door will be awesome as there is no door to block the water, it is very easy to get the water splashed everywhere in the bathroom!!

Review 129:The location is perfect, everywhere is walking distance, five mins to the rail and bus station and only two mins away to the exhibition centre. We tried the hotel restaurant after reading the comments and yes it was the best meal we had for our three nights stay!!! Much better than our Betty's experience. We had the 'kitchen noise and walking steps on top of you' garden room, apart from hearing the steps in early mornings we love the privacy as we are hiding at the back of the hotel and got our own entrance :) if can improve the noise we definitely going to choose garden room again for our next visit

Review 130:Room 17 is in a separate building across the street on the ground floor right on the street.....so not very private.

Review 131:Nice hotel in the centre of town with some parking..food looked good.

Review 132:Shocking noise of traffic until early in the morning and shouting young people partying outside Disco until 5am! Very difficult to sleep! Not very comfortable beds.

Review 133:Food - excellent breakfasts!

Review 134:Fabulous food and very reasonable. Great to have some evening entertainment with a fab guitarist and singer. Location perfect, very quirky place but would stay again.

Review 135:I could not get to sleep for ages, the bed was so uncomfortable. It would have given me a great opportunity to work, however the wifi would never work! I couldn't even get to my emails.

Review 136:The location is completely central which really helped me as I don't know my way around at all! Breakfast was absolutely delicious and exactly what I needed after an evening of entertaining clients!

The Fine Print

The car park is on Back Granville Road, to the rear of the hotel.
