Reviews for Hundith Hill Hotel
Review 1:Staff were mostly only just adequate and on a couple of occasions were unhelpful and not what we would expect for a medium priced hotel. For example when we asked them to arrange a taxi they told us to do it ourselves and gave us an out of date list of cab companies.
Review 2:Super location and a nice historic property
Review 3:Nothing major at all, but paid little extra for a balcony room but couldn't access it as it had all building blocks on. Not to worry though as everything else was perfect and lovely staff.
Review 4:The staff were amazing they helped us out massively, had a tyre blow out and no way of getting a replacement on a Sunday without paying a fortune in taxi run's with the wheel. They were so kind to let us borrow there hotel vehicle to take the wheel to the nearest garage to fit a new tyre. Sadly there was more damage but least it got us home! Thank you so much, everything else was also perfect. Lovely food and cosy stay.
Review 5:Room decoration dated, bed squeaky and uncomfortable . Carpet in the bathroom. Exterior facade, ie grey loose render requires attention. Wifi not available in the bedrooms.
Review 6:Lounge area decoration nice and traditional. Reception staff polite and accommodating when we asked for a late check out. Nice open views of the Lakeland .. Gardens are well kept.
Review 7:The room was so hot, and very noisey. There was a horrible rumbling noise for about 15 minutes at a time very disturbing
Review 8:Lovely room, clean and very convenient.
Review 9:Quietness apart from coolers from the kitchen, we booked the room because of the balcony, this wasn't available due to building works, thereby the only air into the room was via velux windows, very unsatisfactory and thereby very hot, the breakfast was very poor, the whole experience was very expensive for what we received.m
Review 10:The view and quietness
Review 11:They often have wedding parties which means hotel is usually pretty full with activities ongoing but overall this is a minor blemish
Review 12:Good location near to Cockermouth which is well placed for decent walking and is good for food and pubs: the room was very comfortable and breakfast excellent.
Review 13:Our room was cold. The radiator was boiling hot, but obviously inadequate for the large room with a single glazed window. Shame, because everything else was lovely.
Review 14:A lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings.good food and pleasant staff.
Review 15:Staff are attentive but need to be managed more effectively. Small room. Uncomfortable bed. Microwaved food. Terrible coffee.
Review 16:Lovely location, lovely old house.
Review 17:The rooms in the main hotel building are maybe a little dated. The new build rooms are very nice with a great view.
Review 18:The location is beautiful. I was there as part of a wedding party and the whole evening was excellent.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:Very Quiet, Close to Buttermere, Keswick, and Cockermouth for walking & eating out. The Shower was a dream after walking on the fells and there was lots of spacious parking. A perfect location.
Review 21:Very noisy on both nights due to people exiting the bar. Will not be back to stay although staff did apologise for the disturbance
Review 22:Very clean room and although small - comfortable bed
Review 23:Disability access very poor stair hand rail insecure

Review 49:food location staff friendly room
Review 50:Hotel used as a wedding venue with music thumping till midnight. Not ideal if like me you had young children who couldn't sleep because of it. Wish they'd informed me there was a wedding on, as I would have booked elsewhere.
Review 51:Food, location
Review 52:l would of preferred more advice as regards activities for tourists to explore. Possibly an easier to adjust thermostat.
Review 53:The room was very comfortable with a magnificent view and balcony
Review 54:Could not find any faults!!
Review 55:The location. Beautiful surroundings and views! My room was lovely! Spacious, clean, big bathroom! The hotel staff made my dog very welcome too which is very important to me! My dog says .... Woof, woof, woof woof woof!!
Review 56:Room itself OK, but Room location quite poor. It's somewhat a luck dip i think - the right room location would make a big difference. No real facilities at the hotel. Not value for money, with breakfast charged at an additional £9/person - even for children - we went out actually and found a great place.
Review 57:Location & impression, nice gardens.
Review 58:It was quite difficult to find. My satnav deposited me in a lane about amile away. Lol
Review 59:The views were fantastic, the staff incredibly helpful, roomsclean luxurious and spacious. And I loved the fire surround in thedining room!
Review 60:Although in country, too busy to be peaceful. Lots of noise and bustle from weddings and Sat night dinners. Food is quantity not quality. Expensive without breakfast. We stayed in another place the next night that was half the price, more charming and included a lovely breakfast.
Review 61:Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful setting
Review 62:This is a popular hotel for weddings, and the guests tend to swamp the space and facilities for non-wedding residents. Why does the B&B tariff not include breakfast? Our room (No 7) had no means of locking - or even shutting - the bathroom door.
Review 63:Location Staff are friendly - despite the pressures of large wedding parties.
Review 64:it was not made clear dogs would have to stay in room.restricted . very expensive.room was looking out at bins and very dark.no natural light.old fashion decor.
Review 65:organisation,staff.food,clean.
Review 66:Noise from kitchen fan in the evening until 11.00 Incorrect locationshown on web site. Breakfast not value for money.
Review 67:Hotel set in lovely grounds.
Review 68:Being charged full price for a breakfast of tea and toast, I thinkcustomers should be informed of this beforhand.
Review 69:Friendly, helpful staff. Food excellent. Rooms very clean.
Review 70:We thought the hotel could be made better by having a shuttle service into cockermouth, as we thought it a bit far to walk ,we could hardly be expected to visit cockermouth and not enjoy the local brew.
Review 71:My husband and myself enjoyed 2 nights at Hundith hill while there for a family wedding, our room was a new part of the hotel and immaculate was a pleasure to stay in. We ate at the hotel and were very impressed with the food which was all freshly made.
Review 72:we were in a room for disabled, very clean and comfy but shower, wash basin and mirrors too low. didn't really matter as only there for one night.
Review 73:location and scenery.staff helpful and friendly
Review 74:I feel that £9.00 for a very basic Continental breakfast is unreasonable
Review 75:Friendly staff Quiet Beautiful room (Room 4) with excellent outlook Good food at a realistic price Easy access to Workington for my business activities (From Penrith on the A66 ) Good WiFi access
Review 76:The hotel staff were very accomidating, and couldn't do enough tohelp us. We had asked if we could come back to the hotel after theevent we were racing in to get a shower, this was no problem for thehotel, and for that I thank them very much. A great location and theright people in there.
Review 77:while staying at the hotel in room 16 on the lower floor what ever room was above ours had very noisey sqeakey floor boards people where walking about from 4.30 am in the room above which made it very hard to sleep if i stayed again it would have to be on the to floor
Review 78:I was very disappointed. On arriving there was a wedding party thatdominated the place making my stay feel somewhat uncomfortable. I wasthen kept wake half the night with noise from the wedding guests andonly managed about 3 hours sleep. Obviously all the attention wasgiven to the wedding party, so I have to say my experience was notgood. I suggested in the morning the least I should expect was a paidfor breakfast by the wedding party or the hotel, but all I receivedwas a shrug of the shoulders by the guy in reception. I should havebeen advised of this party on booking where I would have thought twiceabout staying.
Review 79:Had a great one night stay, made to feel welcome ans the staff were veryfriendly and helpful. My room was upgraded to a double and was verycomfy with everything I needed. Breakfast was a extra £9 but was a goodfull English with everything you could need. The Bar meal that I had wasvery good with big portions and was not badly priced. Great views fromthe hotel grounds and free wifi and parking, I will be returning.
Review 80:Rooms overly hot Food service slow and unfocused Hair dryer, kettle etc outdated No real focus on what the hotel is supposed to be. Mix of old and a new that don't quite go
Review 81:Availability when other locations booked out Only a short drive to an improving cockermouth
Review 82:We stayed for one night - private function - we had the superior room, a late deal and discounted rate. It was a beautiful room, immaculate. As part of the function we had a three course meal, which was delicious. We are looking to return and would recommend without hesitation. Breakfast was also very nice, only bad point was the baked beans - i thought they tasted a little funny?
Review 83:We love the area, the friendliness of the staff and the superior roomsespecially with their views. Lastly we can take our little dog and thereis no extra charge for her. Fantastic value!
Review 84:The only thing we could find to complain about was the pillows beenuncomfortable.
