Reviews for Best Western Beamish Hall Hotel

Review 1:Couldn't fault it

Review 2:We have stayed at beamish before and both times the stay has been very relaxing the staff friendly and will go out of there way to accommodate you, nothing is too much bother. ..This time was my partners birthday and there was a bottle of bubbly on ice waiting for us....nice touch....Thank you to all the staff..

Review 3:We booked the room as a late deal and decided to have afternoon tea there as well. I loved the old furniture in the room. The staff especially Gary were exceptional.

Review 4:Everything , we attended a family wedding of Keith an Amy Graydon 20/ 21st Dec. We were greated on arrival with big smiles and warm welcomes from all the staff.

Review 5:Nice location, comfortable room, great restaurant next door.Room spotlessly clean with nice crisp white bedding, fluffy towels and generally very spacious and comfortable. Reception staff could learn some meeting and greeting manners. This was the only minus. They all seem to be more preoccupied with something else but guests.

Review 6:Expensive fo our stay, particularly without breakfast included in the price. Other family members paid considerably less and had breakfast included. Drinks were very expensive in the function room while the Stables bar attached to the hotel were much more reasonable. Consequently many of us bought drinks there and had to carry them through. Can't see why they couldn't be the same price. Our bed creaked when we moved in it and my father's bed in the next room was very uncomfortable. Worst wedding buffet we've ever had by quite some distance.

Review 7:Lovely setting in it's own grounds. Well decorated, particularly in the Winter Garden where the wedding we attended had the reception. Clean.

Review 8:Bed in double room far too small for 2 people Tap in both rooms booked did not work properly and leaked Bar not open on hotel for residents .

Review 9:Nice environment .Good breakfast Beautiful surroundings

Review 10:everything, staff and hotel was excellent, all so helpful . room was great, food was so plentiful and delicious.great quality hotel and food with first class service

Review 11:The ladies on reception were lovely at check in & out, the room was very comfortable & breakfast was amazing with loads of variety to choose from.

Review 12:We have stayed at Beamish Hall for the first time in September and as we had such a first class stay decided to return and we were not disappointed. Everything from helpful friendly staff where nothing is a trouble to cleanliness was absolutely spot on. Our stay included breakfast and this again was excellent. The staff were very accommodating and the food cooked and served to Perfection. We will definately be returning to Beamish Hall.

Review 13:The downside was that we could hear all the toileting, and showering in the next room 114 (we were 112).

Review 14:Lovely staff, good size room and excellent bathroom. meals wonderful. Very clean. Stable restaurant prices for food and drink very good, quality superb.

Review 15:The resturant got our steaks wrong with medium rare and medium as they were different cuts but this wasn't a major problem though. The micro brewery ales were dissapionting as we thought they would have been better but they were drinkable!

Review 16:Lovely country hotel. Staff were attentive to your needs. The delux room was gorgeous and a surprise waiting for us was the double spa bath as we wasn't aware of that so was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast in our room was very nice and bang on time for when we ordered it for.

Review 17:Nothing apart from wish I had known that the Christmas fair was on . I would have done my Xmas shopping

Review 18:Very helpful staff , lovely hotel and very comfortable

Review 19:My wife choice the hotel My wife organized the stay My wife booked it I paid for it We got the smallest room out of the 2 booked !!!

Review 20:The building was amazing

Review 21:When I arrived home, the next day,I realised the price of our room had been taken out of my bank twice, this made me overdrawn! (There had been an initial problem when I first booked,as I booked a 1 person bedroom as opposed to 2 person bedroom,I know this was my error but I contacted the hall immediately and it was sorted within half an hour of booking, initially so there should have been no problem) The receptionist I spoke to,several times was professional, and polite...This has now been rectified due to the help of my bank, but I could have incurred bank charges so this put a dampener on our wonderful experience,my husband will be paying next time!

Review 22:We received a complimentary bottle sparkling wine/chocolates and a nice card due to the fact that it was my birthday. I liked the serenity of the place, ambiance and staff. Room was small but sympathetically decorated to the era where the Hall initially belonged-also overlooking the front of the hotel,so lovely views too, over the stunning grounds. Beautiful breakfast, nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely love Beamish Hall and apart from the problem with the charges,I wouldn't hesitate to go back for a relaxing time.

Review 23:Nothing bad , just that the hotel room was a touch small - too much space taken up by an unnecessarily large wardrobe

Review 24:The hotel was close to Newcastle and the atmosphere was friendly. Staff there to help for sure but looked to me like breakfast team were not as well organised as they could have been - a few multiple trips

Review 25:The foot of my bed creaked and I found the bed very uncomfortable Although my daughter who visited with me said she slept so well and her bed was comfortable

Review 26:The hospitality of the staff

Review 27:Only negatives were a sock left under the bed by a previous guest and there was no room to put up the ironing board by any of the sockets.

Review 28:Beautiful hotel. Fantastic restaurant with great service and friendly and helpful staff. Great selection of food at breakfast.

Review 29:Nothing that we didn't like.

Review 30:The staff and the restaurant were superb. Being so near to the visitor attraction was a bonus, but you would never have guessed it, as it was such quiet countryside around it.

Review 31:Loved the house which is so gracious and settled in such lovely grounds. Very elegant setting. Food was wonderful in both the Eden Room and the Stables.

Review 32:Shower too small and an hour's wait between starter and main course when dining in the Stables.

Review 33:Clean, good food and good location with fantastic views.

Review 34:the room was pokey, there was very little space and I got bruised from trying to move between the beds. It should have been booked out as a single room rather than a twin

Review 35:the bathroom was very clean with nice toiletries and the shower was very powerful

Review 36:Twin room 113 felt really small as furniture overtook room. Bathroom very small but did job. Felt hotel was isolated had to drive everywhere. Lounge Bar not attended had to order through reception if you wanted a drink.

Review 37:Good selection at breakfast. Comfortable and friendly dining room.

Review 38:We liked everything. The location was beautiful, The hotel was really like staying in a stately home, which of course was what Beamish Hall had been. The food in the Stables Restaurant was delicious and plentiful, also breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beers which they make in their micro-brewery were very good. I would recommend Beamish Hall to anyone.

Review 39:Sound proofing between rooms was poor, could hear next doors conversations. Was expecting a 'deluxe' room to be a bit bigger! Wifi did not work in bedroom.

Review 40:Meal in the Stables restaurant, on same complex, was excellent. Bedroom very clean, nice shower. Nice quiet grounds, garden, views

Review 41:Lovely location, extremely friendly and helpful staff and overall ambience of the hotel. Dinner in the Stables was really enjoyable and breakfast in the Eden Room was first class as was the service.

Review 42:Avoid evening meal--very poor Sunday Roast still serving at 7.30pm. Veg overcooked by a mile & lots of gravy already over the meat.Quiet simple --eat out. Did not try breakfast.

Review 43:Bedroom good value at special rates, very friendly staff on reception.

Review 44:Nothing, never

Review 45:Everything. The staff are 100% for you. They sorted out out my missingwallet/phone etc and mailed them to me. Nothing is a problem tothese girls. The food has improved 150% for sure, so well done all atBeamish Hall.

Review 46:Tiny toilets near dining room, low sink in bathroom room 204, no wifi that worked for more than 30 seconds at a time

Review 47:Location to Beamish museum, the beautiful area around the hotel

Review 48:The only negative for us was having to walk up to the Stables restaurant from the main hotel building in the pouring rain! Having said that we enjoyed our meal and the staff were very welcoming.

Review 49:We did enjoy our stay at Beamish Hall and thought the breakfast was exceptionally good.

Review 50:The reception staff seemed miserable and could have probably done with a hug.

Review 51:The relaxing atmosphere and clean tidy room. The food at the stables restaurant and pub was great and the prices were reasonable There was a music and beer festival and the outdoor cinema (which i initially came for) was magical with the clear stary sky. There was a good selection at breakfast. Would definitely visit again.

Review 52:We were put in a room without a bath initially and had to ask to be moved. The original room was poor. It's unfortunate to start the visit that way. Breakfast good except scrambled egg...rather strange and poor for high grade hotel!!

Review 53:Lovely room in the end-helpful and friendly staff. Good service and food in the Stables restaurant despite being very busy the night we were there.

Review 54:Booked hotel as surprise overnight stay with meal in the Resturant for my husbands 50th birthday. It was perfect. The hotel has friendly professional staff who were spot on.nothing was a trouble and we're very accommodating helping us spring the surprise. We were extremely touched when we arrived in our room to find a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice from the hotel. Which was a lovely start to a wonderful stay. The quality and standard of the room was exceptional. Clean, bright and relaxing. We will definately be back.

Review 55:Absolutely nothing .

Review 56:This was a surprise 85th birthday present for my mum . We all had 2 days in the Beamish museum and mum and dad had one night in this wonderful hotel . The staff were brilliant . There was even a bottle of champagne and a card for mum . We can't thank them enough .

Review 57:Not really a bad experience went for dinner but steak was not good but they did take it off the bill and complimetary coffee and drink, and staff were great xxxxx

Review 58:Staff and comfort excellent great stay xxxxxx

Review 59:Beautiful building in beautiful surroundings. Enjoyed the food in the Stables Restaurant and the staff were very accommodating to my needs. I have already recommended the hotel to a friend who has made a booking.

Review 60:Bar staff at the wedding were unhelpful & miserable, whilst breakfast staff couldn't be more helpful. Poor mobile phone reception

Review 61:As a wedding venue it is fabulous, the wedding reception room décor was spectacular; the grounds are beautiful .Bedrooms were clean & comfortable and the Stable bar serves good food & beer

Review 62:Very over inflated price!! We got the feeling that we were paying for the upkeep of the building rather than the hospitality. The room was small and very stuffy. Although a fan was put in the room on the Saturday. To also add to our overall disappointment, when we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist asked for a bank card to reserve £80 in case we had any room service or ate in the Stables restaurant. We were assured that this would not be taken from our bank account however on checking our bank account on the Saturday we found out it was held on our account and therefore our account was -£80 in funds, however we planned to eat in the Stables Restaurant over weekend so it was not an issue for us. We spent £84.30 in the Stables Restaurant over the two nights (the food was lovely) and when checking out on the Sunday we were asked for our bank card once again and a transaction of £84.30 was made. On Monday 17 August my husband tried to make a card transaction for some building materials on behalf of one of his clients and this was declined. He asked me to check our account and it showed that Beamish Hall had taken the £84.30 as well showing that the £80 that was still being held over. I had to transfer money to cover my husbands purchase from another account (it's a good job that we had this or else we would have been financially compromised!!). Itelephoned Beamish Hall and was advised that I should contact our bank as it was their problem. Our bank advised me that it was Beamish Hall who were at fault. To cut a long story short, after a week of further telephone calls to Beamish Hall and to our bank to ascertain when this £80 would appear back in our account, our account was credited on Saturday 22 August - a week later - and this was only because I was advised by our bank that as the reserve had not been claimed by Beamish Hall, the transaction is reversed after 7 days. Utterly appalling.

Review 63:The surroundings were lovely.

Review 64:Nothing

Review 65:It was the most enjoyable stay my husband and I have had , the setting , decor , cleanliness , peacefull , and most of all the staff were so helpfull and friendly , nothing was to much trouble , we actually couldn't believe the price ! For the accomadation we had , we are saving to come again , best western is the way to go ! Thankyou so very much , :)))

Review 66:Off duty staff drinking and using foul language at the adjacent table whilst we were eating our meal, spoiled what was, until then, a very enjoyable stay.

Review 67:Beautiful building and helpful staff. Food very good & real ale excellent.

Review 68:The room was very small with very imposing furniture which filled the room. The heat was stifling despite a fan being on all night in direct contrast to the bathroom which was light and airy. There was no room to put our suitcases. The view was a wall less than 10ft away. Really disappointed with the room.

Review 69:The location was very peaceful and the building was impressive. The staff were really friendly and the meal we had in the Stables was excellent as was the restuarant.

Review 70:The only niggle they had was signage to find the restaurant from their ground floor room - they went into several empty rooms before finding the breakfast room - but when they did find it they thought the breakfast room was great :)

Review 71:I booked the hotel for my parents in their 70's - they were raving about everything from the bedroom to the restuarant, bar, breakfast, grounds etc

Review 72:The bed in the standard room was rather small and a little short for my 5ft10 husband.

Review 73:Lovely building and grounds friendly and helpful staff, food and beer excellent.

Review 74:I was not happy about waiting 50 nin for food, then being told sorry we have a large party the other side and had forgot you had been waiting so long.

Review 75:Single bed could have been more comfortable and the walls were very thin, could hear the person in the next room snoring.

Review 76:The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, they were all really friendly and approachable, the breakfast was also amazing! Would recommend The Stables for evening meal too.

Review 77:A poor nights sleep due to the thinness of the walls between rooms. Woken up by the occupent in the next room snoring. Secondly the noise when people are using the bathroom in the middle of the night next door and it would have been the same from my room. Noise of the bathroom extractor fan operating and the toilet being flushed.

Review 78:Beautiful hotel and grounds which was a perfect setting for the wedding that I was attending that day. Charming bedrooms. Friendly and attentive staff.

Review 79:We found our room to be very hot ! There was a fan in the wardrobe but this did little to improve the situation and was noisy. We did open the window but was only able to open a touch due to there being a stopper and had to shut it as our room was near to The Stables Micro Brewery which was also a noise issue. Our TV needed to be retuned after each turning off.

Review 80:The look and feel of the hotel made the trip feel like a treat. Our room was immaculate & the bed very grand & comfy.

Review 81:We paid £130 for the night we stayed, the room was tiny with two single beds and you couldn't swing a cat. We were very disappointed to say the least. Wouldn't stay again.

Review 82:Bed was very soft (some might like it but it was not ideal for my back). Wi fi connected but did not seem to work. Neither greatly detracted from a good stay overall.

Review 83:Imposing building in a great setting. Spacious well appointed room with good shower. Friendly, efficient service. Great restaurant with excellent beer brewed on the premises. Ideal location for Beamish museum.

Review 84:beautiful location attended with young and older relatives and appropriate for all. As we were celebration the stables bar held a cake for us and gave my daughter free wine.

Review 85:A guest in adjoining room kept us awake with snoring. We were moved but the bed and shower in the substitute room weren't as wonderful as the first room.

Review 86:Fantastic staff who are pleasant and helpful. Lovely breakfasts and food in their restaurant. Very clean.

Review 87:Wifi only available in reception area, not in rooms. Very, very small, cramped double room with over large, dark furniture. Filthy duvet but staff changed immediately and removed a chair from room to enable better access to bathroom. Went to Stables restaurant for morning coffee and to check dinner menu but staff disinterested in taking order and therefore didn't book dinner for eight. Hotel probably best for weddings and functions.

Review 88:Near to beamish museum. Good shower. Receptionist friendly and helpful.

Review 89:Only one night to stay. Would have liked longer.

Review 90:The setting was superb.the outside bar area was excellent. The breakfast also excellent. Overall defiantly worth booking again if we're in the area and one to recommend.

Review 91:No wifi in rooms and very poor wifi in public areas. NO mobile reception at all!

Review 92:The Food was good at the Stables and the breakfast was worth the money.

Review 93:We were unable to leave windows open because only bottom sash moved. Therefore room very stuffy and lack of security as people passing by open windows.

Review 94:Musty smell in room. No satellite, wi-fi, phone or TV signal available from the room.

Review 95:Nice restaurent serving pub grub type food.Very friendly staff who did their best to sort out the problems.

Review 96:Our classic twin room was small. My recommendation would be to upgrade to a larger room.

Review 97:Perfect hotel when visiting Beamish Museum which is about a mile away. Lovely grounds and The Stables restaurant and bar good value for money. Our hotel room was spotless.

Review 98:I was in room 114 and I found it very dark with really heavy and drab furniture that didn't enhance such a small hot room. The room temperature was stiflingly hot and I was told later that it was above the boiler. Even though there was a fan it didn't help bring the heat down much and I found it hard to sleep plus the window didn't open very much.

Review 99:Enjoyed the location - out of town but near amenities. The surrounds of the hotel were lovely - peaceful and well-tended. The food was good and overall I would recommend it as a good location for visiting Newcastle, as I did and many other interesting sites.

Review 100:Large clear window in en-suite giving others a clear view into the room. Having frosted glass would be the obvious solution.

Review 101:Large comfortable room with large en-suite.

Review 102:I had nothing to complain about had a very pleasent stay.

Review 103:I came up for a wedding and was very pleased with the way the hotel presented the rooms and service for the wedding .

Review 104:The hotel ambience, the setting, the sympathetic decor, the friendly staff, the excellent dinner in the Stables and the magnificent Northumberland breakfast.

Review 105:Beds were rather uncomfortable, creaked with every slight movement, pillows very soft, maybe a firmer pillow should be available in the room for those that need it.

Review 106:Thank you to Liam the duty night manager for taking care of our confused mother

Review 107:Distance to public transport required use of taxi to catch train or bus at our age. Perhaps some form of complimentary lift to bus-stop?

Review 108:Style of Hall and rooms. Cleanliness and attention to detail.

Review 109:The classic double room we had was quite small.

Review 110:Comfortable hotel in lovely grounds. Good restaurant with the bonus of it's own micro brewery. Great real ale!

Review 111:Beautiful building in wonderful, peaceful surroundings. Food in the Stables restaurant and at the breakfast service was very good. Staff extremely friendly and helpful

Review 112:We had a lovely anniversary weekend and the complementary bottle of fizz was a bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and the breakfast were excellent and the beds very comfortable.Just perfect!

Review 113:Only criticism the bed was comfy but Husband is 6ft 2" and there was a footboard on to match the headboard and he could not put his feet out. Also breakfast was lovely but it was margarine without a doubt ! Come on we need butter or need a choice.

Review 114:Beautiful room, beautiful linen, friendly staff, Stables bar good food and nice atmosphere. The North East people e ARE very friendly without a doubt, as like us Yorkshire folk.

Review 115:NOTHING BAD TO SAY AT ALL

Review 116:AMBIENCE OF HOTEL, THE STABLES TO HAVE A RELAXING DRINK AND SUPER MEAL WAS GREAT. WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK AND LOCATION FOR BEAMISH MUSEUM BRILLIANT

Review 117:No internal restaurant although food very good at bar/micro brewery in grounds. Bedroom furniture old, battered and in need of replacement

Review 118:Beautiful surroundings, nice bathroom, excellent breakfast and pleasant staff

Review 119:It would be good if somebody from the hotel stayed in room 219 and reported on what makes it a deluxe double. It certainly was not the bed which was creaky and not nice to sleep in. Small tv on the wall, room a long way from the reception.

Review 120:Our room (113), although clean and well maintained, was far too small and cramped to be truly comfortable. I imagine the hotel must have bigger store cupboards! We made our comments to reception staff at the end of our stay.

Review 121:reception and restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.

Review 122:Wi-fi is almost non - existent throughout the Hall.

Review 123:The staff are obviously extremely passionate about ensuring their guests enjoy a memorable stay. Both the history and architecture of the Hall are wonderful.

Review 124:Wasn't happy with the smashed glass pieces that were on the bathroom floor in which I cut my foot on!

Review 125:The size of the room was substantial and very cosy!

Review 126:Old style rooms. Handbook dated. Too much light coming in from round door. Noise of people walking past felt like they were in my room!

Review 127:Building. Staff very friendly. Meal and beer in stables restaurant excellent.

Review 128:Very noisy plumbing, constantly being awoken by guests flushing adjoining toilets late into night

Review 129:Stables Restaurant being on site plus extremely friendly staff at hotel and restaurant

Review 130:No much not to like but better WIFI coverage minor issue.

Review 131:Setting in wonderful grounds, great breakfast and well furnished comfortable rooms in keeping with the style of the building. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great restaurant highly recommended.
