Reviews for Stable Courtyard Bedrooms At Leeds Castle
Review 1:When we arrived we were given our key and directed up to our room and then we took a short walk up the hill and explored Leeds Castle to our hearts content. When we retired for the night the room was warm and peaceful. There was no road or people noise, only the sound of the ducks squabbling on the lake. In the morning we walked to the Maiden's Tower for breakfast and handed our key back. But we were welcome to stay and explore the grounds and castle again, so we did. Absolutely lovely. Next time we visit the UK we will come again.
Review 2:Only one place to eat and awkward time in late afternoon where nothing is open
Review 3:Lovely views and grounds! The rooms were lovely and the whole experience made for a fabulous weekend away I would definitely recommend this!
Review 4:The drinks in restaurant were expensive, so we ate elsewhere for dinner. The pillows were too big and bulky, so was uncomfortable at night. Woke up with neck ache, both of us.
Review 5:Leeds Castle is a beautiful location and we had amazing views through our two windows. Very picturesque and the staff were so helpful. One chap came out of kitchen to show us where our room was, as we couldn't find it and at the maze, the lady showed us through the maze, so we got to see the grotto. Grotto was brilliant. Our room was clean and warm. Shower was powerful and roomy.
Review 6:Room was quite basic and quite small for the price. Reception unstaffed on arrival at 10pm, and directions given by security were unclear, which led to a wait of around 25 minutes to gain access to room
Review 7:Excellent breakfast, friendly and very helpful staff, beautiful grounds - and free entrance to the castle
Review 8:Nothing. There were a few foibles with the electrics - but any concerns were sorted promptly and a small price to pay for staying in such an old converted property.
Review 9:The location, the atmosphere, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff and the standard of the rooms all combined to make this a great visit. It was very special to be able to stay in the grounds of this historic castle.
Review 10:What a lovely experience for our first wedding anniversary. It was relaxing and the view is beautiful. We had a nice walk ~ so inlove with the place & saw some black swans! :) I love the restaurant (Fairfax & Castle View), delish food and good ambience. Well worth of money as our visit in the castle came along with the booking for 1night and had the privilege to enjoy the castle and the grounds for 2 days.
Review 11:Almost too quiet. We visited in the off season and felt like there were no other guests. Restaurant was deserted.
Review 12:Very friendly staff, fabulous location. Peaceful. Having the run of the grounds after the day visitors are gone. Excellent shower
Review 13:The room itself was a bit chilly through the night. A little more variety of dishes at the restaurant would have been nice.
Review 14:Loved the location and the room. The food was enjoyable too.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Everyone,from the gateman, reception, restaurant, gardeners castle shop staff and castle guides (esp. Arlette) was cheerful helpful and happy. The setting wonderful. Loved it.
Review 17:Poorly insulated walls in stableblock rooms meant a lot of noise from another room, mainly from the bathroom and from someone with a persistent cough. Some of the food was disappointing but the staff were keen to offer money off because we were not happy.
Review 18:Superb setting. Staff very friendly.
Review 19:The restaurant didn't have enough choice on its menu but it was set in a lovely place and the food was good.
Review 20:I loved the fact that there was plenty to do and it was set in lovely surroundings.
Review 21:Came here to stay overnight for husbands birthday. Liked the relaxed atmosphere and the castle and grounds. stable court rooms really nice and then enjoyed a meal in restuarant. staff even gave my husband a small cake which was a suprise. Would stay again.
Review 22:The restaurant. We were happy with the Costas and daytime meals in the other areas, but the evening meals were not really to our liking.
Review 23:We were able to wander around the castle grounds and gardens at any time during our stay. Great views of the castle lit up at night. Would be even nicer in the summer with longer daylight hours to explore.
Review 24:Not good value at £120.. too basic and bed far too small..needs 2 beds or a large double.. food is OK, but some natural dishes would be nice considering the location..
Review 25:Good position and inside the beautiful castle grounds
Review 26:Restaurant was not open in evening, I had too conversations before a rival with staff and both times I asked about restaurant and if it would be open and both times was told yes, if I new it would be closed I would have booked a different time as I wanted the full experience.
Review 27:Location, room, experience.
Review 28:booked best room in tower, was at least a 1/2 mile walk from reception outside with luggage, there were carts to take you but no one qualified or insured to drive them, a total disaster, do not visit if you expect a comfortable hotel, staff apart from manager tried their best under difficult circumstances
Review 29:staff not much else!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 30:Can only describe the location as Spectacular, opposite the castle with beautiful gardens and wildlife around you it is a tranquil escape , you have free access to the grounds before and after the day visitors have come and gone. The room was clean and modern with views of the lake and gardens.Breakfast was lovely and is served in the Restaurant opposite the Castle.
Review 31:Noisy snoring neighbours....not impressed by dinner at the Castle view restaurant but very pleased with breakfast!
Review 32:Great location, staying in the proximity of Leeds castle. Pleased with breakfast....
Review 33:- Over-priced rooms in my opinion for what you get; you definitely pay for the location. Comparable hotel rooms elsewhere are much more luxurious.
Review 34:- Location was fantastic. - Staff were excellent. - Food was lovely and a great selection.
Review 35:nothing
Review 36:great location...spotless room.. power shower helpfull and friendly staff ... superb quality breakfast .. quality ingredients used tranquil
Review 37:Didn't like the fact the hotel reception wasn't open so had to wait in the rain until a member of staff came along to take it of me, but couldn't offer me a vat receipt. She told me the would email it over....still waiting now. They kindly gave me a continental breakfast but they shouldn't have bothered really.
Review 38:Nice location and food
Review 39:The fencing of the restaurant terrace is too high. It blocks the view of the castle when seated. The (bath)rooms need some upgrade.
Review 40:The location, the location and the location! In particular the most beautiful and well maintained gardens in the evening sun and the view of the castle from the restaurant terrace. Fine parking.
Review 41:Sugar and hot chocolate missing from tea tray, in maids tower (upgraded our room from court yard to maids tower). Breakfast very small.
Review 42:Nice location and views. Lovely romantic get away
Review 43:No comments, enjoyable stay.
Review 44:Lovely room and view. Restaurant not great value for money. Good breakfast but, like most establishments, could be hotter.
Review 45:Very rushed welcome on arrival, first had to pay, then only got some information, weren't shown to the room. The two young people who helped with the breakfast didn't greet, didn't even smile once, didn't use a tray but pressed the cups and yoghurts against their clothes while carrying them to the buffett. Room was very narrow, bed was small with only one duvet.
Review 46:Being on the castle grounds after the visitors left. Free entrance to the castle. Good parking. Delicious breakfast with soy milk and gluten free bread. No traffic noise. Well equiped clean room.
Review 47:A few minor problems were experienced with the plumbing, in particular the hot water supply, which I was told was owing to the fact that the building is old. The flex for the kettle did not extend far enough to allow it to used on the chest of drawers or window sill, which meant that I had to boil the kettle on the floor! The hot/cold water symbols on the taps had fallen off. I reported these issues to staff at the time and again upon leaving.
Review 48:Location of property in the castle grounds. Good quality bedding and linen. Good quality toiletries. Helpful and courteous staff.
Review 49:The location in the grounds of Leeds Castle is fabulous, especially as hotel guests have access to the grounds when they are closed to the general public. Food in the restaurant is very good.
Review 50:Very poor slow service in the restaurant. Very slow and disorganised. Two other couples dining complained but each time the poor waitress was sent out to smooth over the situation. The manager hid himself away. Also very over-priced and lacking in menu choice. Not a good experience at all - after all it was only our 25th Wedding Anniversary!
Review 51:Location. Peaceful and tranquil. You can access the castle grounds and gardens after day-trippers have left. Restaurant food was of excellent quality.
Review 52:Room with disable bathroom was unacceptable especially as it was not specified when I booked The room had big windows on a walking path and we had to barricade ourselves in the entire time, so much for a view The bed was very uncomfortable
Review 53:The grounds and restaurant
Review 54:Dinner at the Castle View restaurant was disappointing. The chef sent out a risotto as a main course that was very undercooked. Breakfast ok but not great for vegetarians. Staff indifferent at check in and check out of accommodation
Review 55:Superb location
Review 56:Restaurant service was poor, we had evening meal hardly anyone in but still took ages to get served. Breakfast no better, asked for A poached egg which took forever to arrive. Also had an issue with our accommodation which they did not resolve during our 3 day stay in fact we'd brought this issue to their attention on a previous stay when we stayed in the same room, we were assured it would be looked at. (obviously not). When we left mentioned it again unsure it will be sorted. No apologies or anything unacceptable!
Review 57:The setting is great, which makes it.
Review 58:Overall a fantastic experience. Could not ask for a better setting - what a beautiful castle and lovely grounds. The meals in the restaurant were excellent and the staff very cheerful and helpful. Can't wait to go there for a relaxing stay again.
Review 59:Dinner at restaurant was so bad as to be inedible. Both meals were sent back.
Review 60:Location and setting. Niki at reception most helpful and considerate when dealing with our complaint concerning the restaurant.
Review 61:Coffee machine didn't work. So no tea or coffee. There was a kettle outside another room but it was too late in the evening to go hunting. Trying to get it to work has left a bitter taste in my memory for these old castle grounds .
Review 62:The location and novelty of being able to enjoy the grounds in solitude with the luck of the most perfect summer weather. The coffee machine in the room was also full of promise and held back to full fill an expectant stimulation.
Review 63:I could hear the neighbours using the toilet. The room got really warm although no heating on and I had the window open. The shower wasn't very powerful and went hot and cold randomly. Breakfast isnt served until 8am so this might not suit business users who have to get to offices/meetings early
Review 64:The grounds are amazing, and having access to them was fantastic. Staff were very accommodating. Room clean and comfortable.
Review 65:Breakfast poor- little choice ( only full english), poor service- had to get breakfast menu myself, waited ages for tea/coffee, had to ask for toast, fruit run out. Not cheap at £260 per night so expected better service and more options such as eggs benedict, smoked haddock as in other 5* hotels.
Review 66:Lovely location.
Review 67:I took my 83 year old mum as a Birthday surprise. The stairs to our room were to much for her.
Review 68:Being in the castle grounds and having the place to ourself when the castle closed
Review 69:The second meal in the restaurant wasn't good. Chips burnt, ordered lobster only got half of one, had to ask for the crackling to go with pork, when complained the manager didn't even come to speak with us but did give us free desserts and drinks. Did spoil my anniversary dinner though.
Review 70:The grounds were amazing and you can spend the whole day visiting the castle and grounds. Lots to do. Then can have a meal at night and stroll around after. Very relaxing
Review 71:We booked the room at last minute and e were not disappointed at all. The room was excellent and we was right on top of the field where the concert was being held. A perfect weekend would stay again next year for the concert weekend
Review 72:The rooms did not look anything like the photos in the website. They were comfortable , but not up to the standard of the rooms shown in the photos and up three flights of narrow stairs with no help for luggage. There was no hot food available between 2.30 to 6.30pm and we had arrived late after we encountered heavy traffic driving in from London so we were had two hungry teens who had to wait till dinnertime. There is hardly any food after the coffee bar closes until the restaurant opened for dinner.
Review 73:The view of the castle and being able to wander around the castle grounds after the tourists had left. It was peaceful and beautiful, especially since we went in summer and the days were long. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant, good service and good food.
Review 74:Evening meal. They were under-staffed but the staff that were there struggled. Really uninspiring menu. (note: the restaurant is catering for tourists during the day, and claims to transform into a great restaurant in the evening- it doesn't) .Much more could/ should be done to make it special
Review 75:On the whole pleasant . Lovely location near the garden. leeds castle is great
Review 76:The restaurant was quite expensive for what it was served. We had the fish in chips. The shower wasn't hot. We left it running for 5 minutes and the water was still lukewarm.
Review 77:The location within the castle's 500 acre grounds is mesmerising. The staff at the restaurant were superb. Maya is a very friendly and nothing was too much for her.
Review 78:Early check out time and late breakfast. Would have appreciated the reverse.
Review 79:Beautiful grounds and garden. Nice room and bathroom. Restaurant was very good.
Review 80:The breakfast and dinner were very average, and a little disappointing. I was expecting something better.
Review 81:The room was comfortable and clean, as was the large ensuite bathroom. The grounds of this lovely old castle are beautiful and extensive, complete with golf course.
Review 82:Hot water machine left on window ledge with cartons of milk plus mugs and bottles of water left on the window ledge . Tea and coffee tasted horrible , could have done with a kettle in the room on a table with tea and sugar as the milk cartons was left on the window ledge and the milk seemed off as it was hot outside . Also we noticed 2 spiders in the bedroom which i put outside .
Review 83:Stayed in the Maidens tower . Massive rooms nice views .
Review 84:The room was a bit small, but that's OK for one night. But it was definitely too hot in the room, also on the staircase - not just from the sun, the heating was on maximum! Some restaurant staff were rather unfriendly and inattentive.
Review 85:We liked the proximity to the castle and the chance to visit the gardens in the evening after the masses of tourists had gone. Tea and dinner were tasty but a bit pricey.
Review 86:Slight gripe, that the Stables were short staffed and there was quite a lot of litter in the courtyard. Otherwise no complaints.
Review 87:Leeds Castle is a beautiful, the weather was lovely, a truly uplifting place to wake up in the morning. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty and taken within full view of the castle. I would definitely recommend it.
Review 88:Soundproofing between rooms could be better.
Review 89:Access to Leeds Castle included, access to Castle grounds after hours, several cafes, good restaurant, excellent breakfast, very pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 90:When we arrived the gateman hadn't any booking for us, but then directed us to the small car park, " we are there more than half an hour, then ring up ". We didn't wait and walked, with our bags, to The Maidens Hall. There was no one on duty so walked back, then a gentleman, David, kindly took us to Zoe at the courtyard. David then ran us back to the entrance. Very pleasant lady at breakfast, think I saw the manager ( grey suit ) but he was going too fast to catch . Totally uncoordinated, everyone heads down doing their own job, eg, walked back to car park with luggage,in the drizzle, and no one stopped to ask " may I help you?"
Review 91:Beautiful setting
Review 92:Fantastic room and views...set in a beautiful and stunning location. We will definitely go back. The grounds are wonderful....peaceful and relaxing. A perfect getaway.
Review 93:Not a huge choice of meals in the restaurant but what I had was tasty.
Review 94:Perfect place to stay for the castle and grounds. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly. So nice to have the grounds to yourself in the evening and morning before the other visitors arrive. The room was advertised as a small twin but there was plenty of space. Good breakfast.
Review 95:Nothing at all
Review 96:The castle and stable grounds were beautiful, the room was perfect, huge bed, huge bathroom with a very nice deep bath. Breakfast was great too, as were the staff
Review 97:Waited a long time to be served breakfast and tea having already been seated. Breakfast was only tepid
Review 98:The staff very extremely friendly and portrayed genuineness. The room was eccentric and vey comfortable. The location stunning.
Review 99:The WiFi is a bit on the slow side.
Review 100:The location is idyllic, the views are stunning, the history is fascinating. It's a place to relax, unwind and enjoy.
Review 101:An American man's uncontrolled children chasing and kicking at geese with young!
Review 102:To stroll in the beautiful grounds after closing, watch the graceful black swans and numerous fluffy chicks of the ducks and geese, watch the sunset go down behind the castle and see the veil of mist rise above the lake in the morning listening to birdsong. magical
Review 103:bed was small , a very soft mattress . Small room for the price . Resident peacock woke us up at 3am ! Others complained about this too .
Review 104:location was beautiful and breakfast was very good
Review 105:Castle, Gardens, Grounds, room, Staff, Food. it was just perfect, loved every minute of my stay. Thanks to all the staff that make this place special, excellent job.
Review 106:The bedroom was very small and basic but this did not spoil my visit.
Review 107:Location was exceptional. Staff very attentive. Had a superb breakfast before starting the day.
Review 108:The only downside was the restaurant on site. The staff were great but I wasn't very impressed with the food, which is a shame, as there is nowhere else to eat within easy walking distance.
Review 109:The room was spacious and comfortable with beautiful views over the garden and lake. You also have free entry into the grounds and castle.
Review 110:Wish the rooms did not have a common entrance. One can hear every single thing happening in the hallway. And people in the hallway can probably hear everything that is happening in your room.
Review 111:Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Most beautiful grounds.
Review 112:Our window looked out onto a very busy noisy food courtyard but once all shut by 5pm it was then very quiet.
Review 113:Walking around the grounds when every one gone home.Although booked a small room it was bigger than the photo showed with a huge bathroom. Nice surprise.
Review 114:Everything was perfect for us
Review 115:Everything about the venue, location and staff was brilliant. We stayed in the Maiden's Tower and what an experience that was. Amazing room with the most romantic views of the moat and castle. We ate at the fair fax restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and could not fault anything. The staff were attentive and professional.
Review 116:As someone on crutches, my partner found the floor in the disabled bathroom potentially slippery, and a more defined skid proof surface or bigger mats would be a big help. I found the Wifi somewhat problematic.
Review 117:The staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating, helping me manage my partner's temporary disability with her leg in plaster! The disability room was very useful and the kindness of the staff extended to those in the castle itself, who went out of their way to ensure that our visit was as good as possible. The grounds were in superb condition, making the best of the spring flowers and the proximity of all the facilities made using a wheelchair relatively simple. Breakfast was heroic and the St George's day dinner excellent. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back.
Review 118:The bored attitude of the staff Staff have forgotten that they are working in a fantastic location The breakfast that came mostly out of a packet Decor in the bedrooms was drab. Mattress was poor quality
Review 119:The castle The grounds The hawk experience
Review 120:The breakfast was not well organised (we had to ask for milk!) and the evening meal was disappointing for the price
Review 121:Rooms were well apponted and spacious and conveneienrly located
Review 122:A colleague was due to meet us. The managemwbr wouldnt let her in and made her wait 40 minutes at the manned gate. They have all sorts of rules for visitors, none od which are communicated. The management needs to realise that if they wish to impose restrictions then these should be communicated in advance.
Review 123:Great facilities. Good food. Spectacular surroundinga
Review 124:Staff not flexible to allow car to stable block for severely infirmed disabled. This resulted in difficulties and frustrations. They allowed it I the evening after much discussion but would not agree it in the morning
Review 125:Location
Review 126:No negatives.
Review 127:Every one who worked @ Leeds Castle were friendly and very helpful. Everywhere was clean and fresh. We went for my husbands 70th Birthday, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.. We would go back tomorrow.
Review 128:There were no bad experiences, but I did think the restaurant venue was a little uninspiring.
Review 129:The room was well appointed, comfortable and scenic (our room looked on to the formal gardens). There is something serene about enjoying the castle grounds when everyone else has gone.
Review 130:The breakfasts were extremely disappointing. The dining room looked and felt what it was, a cafeteria. The choice of food was poor and the very sparse buffet was cleared away promptly at 10.00. The staff were inefficient and half hearted in their delivery of the service. I would expect far better for a five star experience.
Review 131:The room was large and comfortable in a great location on the castle island
Review 132:My only complaint was the heating was really noisy and the pillow were really uncomfortable
Review 133:The grounds were beautiful, staff are friendly. Breakfast was great. The room was nice too.
Review 134:I didn't like breakfast in the Fairfax Restaurant it was a bit hit and miss with limited choice and missing items on the table and the plate.
Review 135:I loved the castle and the grounds
Review 136:we were woken up by the chamber maid at 7.30 in the morning on bank holiday monday felt this should not be happening.
Review 137:its a stunning location and the staff were great
Review 138:If I had to fault the room a fridge would be nice
Review 139:Lovely room and food, didn't use wifi do can't comment. We had three course Easter eve meal - really nice and good value
Review 140:The breakfast was awful - uninterested staff - poor service and food. Such a shame as on a previous visit when breakfast was served in the Maiden's Tower it was very good, The Fairfax experience was just awful
Review 141:Location is fantastic - nice small room
